wither into truth [p]

For Ever. Set a few hours after the fight with Ouija. I’m just making it a little vague, considering the fight hasn’t happened yet :p <3

The only sensation going through his mind was pain. After the fight had finished, after all the adrenaline left his body, the mutt collapsed onto the side of a tower. His mind had simply shut down; he was drained, exhausted, battered. Ezra passed out for an unknown amount of time. When the mutt awoke, he couldn’t remember why he had fallen to the ground. It was peculiar. Had he gotten into an accident? Had he gotten into a fight? It was like his mind was trying to forget what had just happened. The boy gingerly forced himself into a sitting position, wiping off a few straggling leaves on his dirty coat. Everything ached. What the hell happened?

Ezra’s first thought was Ever. Was she hurt? Had he hurt her? No, that would have never happened; if it did, he would have been driven out of the Court. He was still in packlands, and there was no scent of Ever near him. A strangled moan came out of his throat as the boy tried to pick himself up. He looked at the source of the pain only to find a bloody and dirty right shoulder, with a large amount of fur missing. The fight came flooding back. That mysterious, insane white menace. Ezra snarled in fury for losing a fight on his own turf, unable to move any other body parts. His other limbs were aching, and he could feel a rib or two screaming in protest every time he breathed.

His shoulder was bleeding, and heavily. The stream trickled down his limb and pooled by his feet. It was excruciating. He had to go back to Ever. Ezra needed to be taken care of and rest. But there was nothing he could do, the mutt could barely walk. Instead, Ezra let out a pained, but forceful howl that echoed through the trees. “Ever, please…” He was begging for her to find him. He didn’t know what he’d do without her. His lungs stopped working – he couldn’t get any more out. He prayed it was enough for her to spot him.

Her feet pounded on the ground as the girl sped through the trees, gracefully leaping over fallen logs and sliding to avoid the bracken and low-hanging branches. Dainty silver figure was a blur as her breath clouded the air for only seconds before the rest of her body flew through the mist. It was a frozen afternoon. Seasons seemed to melt together from spring to summer. A luminous over cast hung like a shade since morning and made Ever wish she was still in the warm embrace of the barn.

The motley hybrid had woken when the sun shone it’s eyes on the land. A cold wind hit her as soon as she stepped from the door, but her delicate body was already covered in a layer of mauve sweater fabric. She had gotten used to getting up at dawn and grooming the horses in the cold, pale air. She had barely started rubbing the floor down after the slight mudslide from yesterday’s rain when she heard the call.

Instantly Ever recognized her mate’s strangled howl. She nearly flew out the barn door, stripping off layers of clothing as she went. Her mind wandered before she shifted. Was he in trouble? Could he have gotten hurt? The girl pushed the thoughts away and flew onto the ground where he fingers sank into the damp earth. Her body shuddered and her muscles shifted along with bones to create her lupus form. It took longer because of the stiffness the cold had created.

Ever had no idea where Saphraine was. The desperate cold may have driven him into the hills already. She almost wished he was here so she could travel faster, but it occurred only in optime. Colorless eyes flashed and auburn ears perked. Where was the call? Her mind screamed with pain as muscles began to ache. But light began to gradually sparkle down from the gaps in the trees. She was far from the barn by now. Ever slowed to howl a call but it caught in her throat.

A lump of white fur was shaking on the soft grass. Ever sprinted faster than her pace before to her mate’s side.

Ezra! Ezra, what happened, love?

She called, her voice soft but stern as if wanting to shout.

your table is super cuteeee :] <3

Waiting was the hardest part. He was paralyzed, mentally and physically, and couldn’t move an inch of his body. The pain only got worse. His mind was screaming, he had never felt more at a loss until now. Was he going to die? There was no way of telling. His mouth let out strangled whimpers of pain, high pitched and full of misery. The boy, unsure of whether his mate would come to his rescue, lowered himself back to the frosted ground for comfort. Bi-colored tail wrapped around his bruised and beaten body as his vision started to fade. The grass seemed so comforting, so warm and welcoming.

His mind went blank again. The pain became easier to deal with as he was slipping in and out of consciousness. All he heard was the rustling leaves through the summer wind and the heartbeat of the forest. Ezra had never been this down, this damaged before. He was nothing but vulnerable now. It wasn’t in his nature to lose a fight on his own turf. He had been ruined both physically and mentally. Nothing could quiet the fallout in his mind.

And like an angel, he recognized the sprinting feet of Ever. She had found him. The boy snapped awake to the best of his ability and proceeded to stare at his wounds again. Despite Ever being there, seeing the blood made the boy nauseous and weak. It had trickled down past his paws and was making a crimson pool in between two roots of the tower he was leaning against. “I… I was attacked. Someone… he was a monster. Had crazy dyed fur… damn werewolf,” the boy managed to get out, taking short breaths to dull the pain. “My shoulder…” he looked up at Ever’s comforting eyes and let out yet another quiet, pained whimper.

Thank ya, doll!

Ever couldn’t fight the tears that ended up spilling down her silver cheeks. Anger burned through her skin, but as soon as the word werewolf slipped from her mates weak lips, she tensed. The girl had to remove her paws from Ezra’s side so that he wouldn’t feel her intense shudder. Her teeth clenched and she swallowed a growl. She suddenly felt so helpless, small, with the weight of the secret she realized weighing on her shoulder. Looking at her paws and the bloody broken form of her love, Ever wondered how much of the blood was someone else’s.

She spent little time thinking about it, but Ever finally did let a snarl rip through her throat and out into open air. Instantly her tail swept across Ezra’s flank, not wanting him to be startled by her noise. Ever knew who he was talking about. The mutt Ouija. He had tried to seduce her the first seconds they had met, and refused to let her out of his grip without actually touching her.

Fresh tears blurred her vision and claws retracted into the dirt. Now she was truly helpless. She had no idea what to do for him, so she started to clean his wounds. Long strokes of her tongue cleaned away the metallic smell of blood. Ever shook as she did so, not caring to ponder if it was from the cold or the anger. Her tongue becomes as numb as her heart while she resisted coming any closer. Her weight on her mate’s could be deathly.

Ezra did nothing but shut his eyes and let out moans of anger and pain. All he wanted to do was go to sleep next to Ever’s silver body and wake up healed, with no noticeable changes to his body. That wasn’t going to happen, though. He was going to have to deal with this disgusting wound on his shoulder and the healing process. At least he had someone to help him through this – When the boy looked up at Ever again, she looked completely different. His words had a direct effect on her, but Ezra couldn’t understand why. It was just a fight – did she know his attacker? Was there something he didn't know about?

Ezra tried sit up again, and was fairly successful. His wound was still screaming in protest, but he had to clean it up somewhere safe. Ever started to dutifully dote on him, but each lick made his whole jaw clench up in pain. The boy whimpered, finally seated on his two front legs. “Ever, what’s wrong…” it took all of his energy to look up at his love and switch body positions. “We need to go back to my dungeon, I can’t stay here.” How he was actually going to walk the mile or so to his home was another matter entirely, but it had to be done.

I contacted Alaine (Miracles’s Apothecary) since Ever has no idea what to do to help him. Would you be alright with having her make a small appearance just to save the day? All she needs to know is the injuries, if there will be any significant scars left over, difficulties, disorders, etc.

He was intoxicating. Every breath smelt sweet in the bitter air and every drop of blood was like lust on her tongue. It took everything she had not to dig herself into his side. She could feel him tensing with every caress so she lengthened her strokes and softened her touch, weaving around the wounds to clean away any dirt. A moment before he stood, the female had finished cleansing the large gash on his shoulder which was revealed to be a large, shallow injury. Most others cleaned up to being alike, or small and deep.

Ever almost protested to his half-standing but her throat was hoarse and no sound cared to pass her bloody tongue. She used her own shoulder to support him meekly, adding another patch of blood to her silver fur. The sky was darkening with storm clouds that made the girl want to hiss with disgust. At first she ignored Ezra’s question and comments, choosing to work on a particular scrape on his back leg. But she knew she couldn’t avoid the inevitable. The blood on his punctured skin didn’t all taste the same.

The girl pushed her muzzle gently across her mate’s white cheek. She knew now, it was obvious to him she had been crying.

You cannot travel.

Ever kept her eyes low, staring at her bloody chest and paws. The realization almost made her sick.

I-I-cannot leave you, but we must f-find help.

Her face hardened after every shake in her voice. The cold was biting her cheeks now and stinging her eyes. But fear kept her anxious.

should I PM her that information? Also, sorry for the delay, thanksgiving was crazy :p in your post, just say that they got to his den or whatever. It’s about a mile away and is a normal wolf den that he dug out of the side of a hill by a willow tree in the middle of CdM.

Ever was doing her best to help the bloodied and battered mutt, but even she couldn’t do everything. The boy tried to stay conscious when Ever was cleaning his wounds, but a combination of the pain and blood loss made everything fuzzy and difficult to comprehend. He whimpered and cried in pain constantly, but there was nothing he could do. He was losing it.

Ezra couldn’t stay here, they both knew that. The boy looked up at the sky to see the darkening clouds and foreboding thunder. Pushing away his agony for a moment, Ezra nuzzled his mate as a way to tell her to stop treating him. “I’m going home, it’s going to rain. Follow me,” he said quietly, ignoring his muscles that begged not to be moved. His shoulder screamed in pain; bi-colored eyes glistened in response. The boy finally got himself on four legs, and started limping towards the modest den he called home.

It was a mile or so away, and he was going to go regardless of what Ever thought. Ezra could hardly comprehend the walk. His whole essence focused on one foot in front of the other, one foot in front of the other. A passing wind rocked his whole body, coercing a hiss out of the boy’s lips. Agony. His shoulder had stopped bleeding momentarily while Ever was treating him, but the new movement made it start up again. He had only walked a few steps before he looked back at his silvery, youthful mate. “He said something about changing me, getting me out of the confines of my body. And then he attacked me. Ever, what the hell is he talking about?” The boy said, full of anger and confusion.

He kept walking, regardless of whether Ever going to follow him or answer his question. He knew nothing of the transformation that had just taken place, or why Ouija was so hungry to change him. He had no idea what was to take place in just a few short days. He hoped Ever would explain everything to him eventually. It just made no sense.

You can go on ahead with that, I will call for her in the next post.

Lightening split the air behind the mates, outlining their figures in a beautifully crooked kind of light. Moments later thunder followed, succeeding in making the female jump and almost loose her footing in the damp earth. She caught up and tried as best as she could to support her male, continuing on in silence towards his den.

Her ears twitched against the harsh cold wind that bit at the back of her neck even though Ezra’s warmth set her skin on fire. Every now and then her bloodied tongue appeared to lick away a stream of fluent blood flowing from above his disheveled eyes.

Only once had the silver youth been to Ezra’s den, but once was long enough since their love had occurred there. The reeds near the stream were soaked and Ever’s pelt twitched violently as the leaves dragged their sticky bodies across it. By the time they had reached the shelter of the dark, soft den under the weeping tree, the rain had started in tiny drizzles. Ever settled her mate down in a soft spot before shaking off a ways away. She came back and tenderly licked his shoulder again and was gently satisfied to see the misty rain wash some excess blood away. But still, she lay her exhausted body down in the dirt in desperation. There was nothing she could do.

I sent the info to Alaine, sorry for the wait <3

Lightning cracked, and thunder soon followed, but the injured male didn’t have enough strength to acknowledge it. He limped slowly to his home that he so desired, shifting his weight between his good shoulder and Ever’s warm body. She was his crutch for the distance between where they were now and Ezra’s den. The pain was excruciating, but the only thing he could do now was block it all out.

Despite the boy’s pestering, his mate stayed quiet on their trek over. It irritated the mutt, but at this point there was no energy left to waste on things other than getting home. He just sighed and kept limping. The two finally reached his small home by his favorite willow tree. The sky had finally decided to open up instead of just threaten, and throw dark in the otherwise warm, well-lit den. Rain fell on the boy, trickling down into his wound, and he let out another quiet moan. Ezra didn’t object when Ever laid him down on his bed of soft leaves and pine needles. The boy took up complaining once more, letting out quiet whines as he laid on his bed.

The mutt then realized another source of pain; the back of his neck throbbed as if someone had just taken a blunt object to the back of his head. He also noticed another thick trickle of crimson blood bleeding into his fur. “I think I found another,” he said weakly, trying to smile. He slowly turned his head to the left, showing Ever the source of blood on his neck. Once he swiveled his head back around, he looked at Ever again, swirling colorless irises making Ezra’s head spin just as much as the first time he saw them. “Ever… thank you for saving me. I don’t know what I would have done without you,” he said quietly, meaning it with every ounce of his soul. “I love you. Come here,” patting the damp ground beside him, wanting his mate by his side, despite his bloodied and beaten appearance.

So sorry for the delay. Alaine can come anytime now.

The thunder was making her nerves shudder and spark under her skin. At any moment Ezra could slip away. She wished she could whimper and cry until the storm went away and her mate was better, but Ever couldn’t do that to him. Every time he moaned from her tending she had to look away to hide herself from the feeling he gave her. Eventually she slinked away and sat by the entrance of the cave letting him rest for a moment. Barely tilting her head back, Ever let out a low, exhausted howl for anyone to come to help, she rested her body on the side of the tree cave.

Rain was now pounding everywhere, forming puddles already and creating disturbances in the rough sand around the river. Eyes darted nervously everywhere to block out the emotions. She would have stayed there all night if it weren’t for Ezra’s speaking. She turned in time to see the other injury he was showing her. His eyes suddenly locked with hers and she looked down. They were clouded with a pain she had seen before in her mother’s eyes.

She thought Ezra was her cure, her drug to the nightmares and memories that haunted her. Robotically, the girl nodded when he thanked her, numb with sadness and chill. Making her way over to his bloodied, battered, body, she lay as gently as she could beside him without shakily falling into his chest. Ever kept her distance, it was small, but a noticeable amount. She didn’t want to hurt him more. Her head was turned away from his as she let her tears flow freely. It had been a long time since she had cried with reason, which broke her inside.

Lightning crackled outside the windows of the old Chien Hotel, and in response, the building groaned and muttered furiously. It didn't like the storm, the rain and the wind, although the wild weather had a surprisingly soothing effect on its inhabitant. The Apothecary sat close to her window, enjoying the occasional gusts of spray that the wind kicked up into her face, watching with pleasant emerald eyes as lightning arched across a bruised sky.

These sudden storms were not uncommon, but for the most part, posed a nuisance to the Cour des Miracles pack. The scurry for cover meant that nobody could be out and about, doing their dutiful business. This fact didn't seem to disturb Alaine very much, for although she loved her job as lead healer, it was nice to catch a break.

Aforementioned break was suddenly cut short as a mournful howl echoed under the whiplash of thunder. Floppy collie ears pricked to catch the faint noise, and then she was in motion - Grabbing her leather satchel, swinging it over one shoulder and wrapping the excess leather about her slender neck so that it would remain tightly attached to her when she changed from Optime to Lupus form. She did so with flawless speed brought on by skilled practice - How many times had the woman had to leave her dry home to run into unfavorable weather to find some patient on the massively-stretching territory? The tally was becoming uncountable.

Four paws were much faster than one, and with the bulging leather bag fixed firmly to her canine back, Alaine burst out of the Chien Hotel and began her journey.

Luckily for the woman, her heritage enabled her to have a certain level of speed. Although she lacked the incredible stamina of her wolfen friends, Alaine's slender limbs could move with much more agility than theirs. It was not long before the rain had soaked her through, but still the collie ran on, her creamy form a blur as it dashed under low-strung fences, over hill and dale. Mud splashed up her ivory belly, which was quickly washed clean again by the heavy sheets of rain.

She headed in a bee-line for the sound, but having never before been to a den in this area, soon realized that she would need aid in finding whoever it was that needed her talents. She was in the very heart of CdM land, and out ahead of her was a neat hill, topped with the swaying branches of the willow tree. Unfortunately, the rain smothered the scents of the pair that dwelled there-in. It was sheer luck that brought Alaine to the sheltering branches, where keen emerald eyes saw the den opening.

With a sharp bark to announce her presence, the woman halted at the opening, waiting only until the scent of blood was found by twitching pink nose before entering. Two wolves lay in a curled huddle in the gloom. They smelt of the pack, which Alaine herself did, so she didn't waste time with pleasantries. "Which of you called for help?" Breathless accented voice filled the silence between pants, "What has happened here?"

By the time someone had arrived, the silver girl had fallen into a feverish sleep. Instead of the normal warmth she felt from her mate, all she felt was the cold wet rain and blood against her. Her sensitive auburn ears twitched unconsciously as the soft shower turned into driving sleet. She sighed as another shuddering breath passed through Ezra’s body, positive it wasn’t a dream this time.

The sound of the abrupt storm washed away the scent and sound of the approaching woman as soon as she was in earshot. A sharp bark drove Ever immediately to her feet, head spinning from her troubled nap. Her eyes were wide in the semi-darkness until it was apparent that the collie wolf announced she might be able to help.

Something about her was familiar from the moment the light had turned her dark silhouette in a creamy haze of golden hues. After a moment of waking up, Ever realized she was the apothecary. The girl could have danced with happiness at her luck.

I did.

She responded with a grim, but still dazzling smile.

He is hurt badly, I do not know how but he said it was from another wolf,

Ever felt as if she would fall back down on the floor, but instead gestured at her mate with a heart-wrenching expression.

Only a couple times had she seen the collie-woman in action. It was only form a distance. But even in the harsh, gloomy light, she was stunning. Ever didn’t find it hard to imagine that her nimble fingers could cure anything they touched.

Lightening crackled, lighting up the willow cave in an uncomfortable light. The silver girl moved out of the way to expose her love to the healer. She wasn’t chatty, and this was an occasion where she didn’t have to be. Her eyes didn’t dare travel past Ezra’s face. Not until she was able to control herself.

sorry for the wait. X_x shall we wrap this up after alaine posts again perhaps?

He was never fully conscious for the past half hour or so. Ezra, despite having his eyes closed, knew that Ever had called for help. He didn’t know what to expect or who was going to come, but to be honest, he didn’t care. His body just wanted to shut off and sleep for days. However, the incredible pain on his body made him unable to fully rest. Whines intermittently escaped his bloody maw as he tried to seek solace in the dark of his cave and closed eyes. It was too much for the wolfdog to bear; he just wanted it to end.

He could tell Ever was panicked, but he couldn’t muster up the energy to say anything anymore. The last ounce of energy he had was spent well before Ever had called for help. He wanted her close, and she had crawled up beside him, which was incredibly comforting. However their brief closeness was interrupted by a collie dog that had entered the den. The bark set Ezra’s teeth on edge; it echoed in his den and made the boy’s ears ache. Finally opening his eyes for the first time in a while, Ezra staring at his mate and the unknown female. She seemed eager to help, however, and Ezra had no energy to kick her out. His mate talked to the new arrival while Ezra made a feeble attempt to sit up on his hind legs. It didn’t exactly work, however, as the boy fell back on the damp, cold earth. He groaned in pain as dirt seeped into his shoulder wound.

Ezra let his mate finish talking before he willed himself to speak. “I was attacked,” he said bluntly. “Attacked by a freak who wanted me changed. He thought by attacking me he could turn me into a werewolf,” he could hardly hide his disdain for what had happened. It horrified Ezra, and he didn’t want to talk about it anymore. So he didn’t.

The female that had been waiting at the entrance to the den was rather receptive, but Alaine could tell from the fatigued look haunting her pretty features that she was incredibly stressed by the situation. A hard knot within the Apothecary tightened, as she prepared for whatever bad occurrence it was that had made such a lovely young thing look so wearied.

The answer was quickly revealed to her as the mottled female gestured to the second lump of fur in the den. Taking in what the girl had said about a wolf attacking this prone figure, the healer was at first hesitant to move forward, in case the male was suffering from acute post traumatic stress disorder. She did not want to be the victim of a hallucinogenic lunge. However, it seemed the large black and white brute, although obviously utterly exhausted from his battle and injuries, was conscious enough to speak with her.

His story was disturbing. Not willing to release information too early, unless it served only to stress the pair further, Alaine took in his story with a sharp nod. She was experienced in her skill, and didn't waste time in shifting to her optime form. She had to remain on her knees, as the den was not very large, but without fingers it would have been nearly impossible to treat his wounds.

"If you don't mind, sir, I'm just going to need to take a look at your injuries..." Her emerald eyes glowed slightly in the darkness, voice calm and cool to try and sooth the edgy female who Alaine now assumed to be the mate of the wounded male. To her, she said "Miss, if you would be so kind as to stay near his head. He has suffered a severely traumatic event, and your presence is no doubt comforting." Her teeth shone white in a quite, small smile, before the woman began to rifle through her leather satchel, looking for poultices and bandages.

As she worked on the prone male, Alaine spoke again, slowly and gently. She was delivering information that it seemed neither of them knew, and did not want for either wolf to respond harshly. "This 'freak'... He said he wanted to change you?" Her hands were busy at work, cleaning the largest open wounds on his shoulder and neck. They would leave big scars, the Apothecary realized with a sigh. "If this is the case, and you were not born Luperci... Then there is a chance you now are. Blood transfusion will give you the power to shift forms."
