Free for anyone to join my little girl!

The morning broke chilly and foggy, but the little Monroe girl didn’t care. One of her specialties was making the best out of bad situations, and the cold weather was no exception. It may be cold, but that just means she has to run faster! She ran, and ran and ran, until there was nowhere else to go. Momma would probably wonder where she had gone, but Maggie was never one to stray very far away. She could still see her mother’s home through the trees and was nowhere near being lost. The little girl knew where she was, and so it didn’t really mattered if she took off for a morning stroll in Dahlia.

The silvery girl whisked through the overgrowth, hopping this way and that, enjoying the obstacle course she made for herself. Happy and content, she let out a quick little howl as she plopped her tiny frame onto the ground. Today she was going to find a frog. Those little green creatures stopped appearing recently, and she wanted to know why. There was no reason for them to disappear! Muzzle to the ground, Maggie sniffed curiously and intensely to find one of her sought after friends.

Green eyes looked with disappointment at the dead vines. The end of summer, when he had returned to Dahlia, had made these vines swell with grapes, fat and juicy. But the snow that blanketed the ground and the frost that had infiltrated the roots of these grape vines had killed them all. The frames that usually supported the grapes were dark with the wetness of snow and Saul walked unhappily through St Pepin's Vineyard with a soft scowl on his face. He was not usually a very unhappy creature, but so far he wasnt enjoying Winter. The snow had fallen one night while he slept and he had not had the opportunity to snap at the falling flakes. He had woken to a white world, a whiteness that seemed intent on killing the grapes that had almost made him sick. Thinking back to that day, Saul smiled softly. Those three little girls with their mother would be much older by now, maybe even old enough to wander around on their own.

Excited at the prospect of seeing at least one of those adorable girls again, Saul found his way back to where he had met Lolita and continued down to row to find her house at the end of it. Puppy smell hung heavily in the air, but there was only one fresh one that led away from the house. Saul didn't know these girls well enough to pick out individual scents and therefore decided to follow the single scent to find out which girl it was. It wasnt long till he saw flashes of grey fur ahead and Saul gave a soft laugh. He should have known that it would be Magnolia who ventured away from the house first. Green eyes shined softly as he crept up on her. She appeared to be snuffling at the ground. With a loud snap at her rump, Saul jumped in front of her and grinned.

"Magnolia! Where are you off to?"

He demanded, but the soft smile on his face made it joking. She probably wouldnt remember him, since the last time he'd seen her she was just three weeks old. But she had spoken to him, so maybe she would. He wasnt sure.

no problem! Sorry if my posts are weird, she’s new and I’m figuring her out, and I also have never played a puppy before. Smile but I read the thread you had with her before. Heehee. The whole Monroe brood is so cute :3 AHHHH wrong account sorry. >____>;;;

A startling noise from behind made the young girl whip her silvery head around, and ended up face to face with a familiar face. He was a Dahlian like her, and they had played together once when she was only just learning how to run on her own four legs. He was very kind to her and her sisters, and someone she was glad to see again. Black lips broke out into a happy smile as she twisted around to face him fully. The lehrling in front of her was a good friend, and possibly a good companion for the day.

“Hi, Saul,” the little girl said timidly, as if not wanting to be in trouble for wandering out of her mother's watchful eye. “I’m… I’m looking for frogs! But I can’t find any,” She pouted for a second, then burst into a fit of childish giggles.”Do you know where I could find some? I wanna play!” Maggie yipped at Saul, happy to have a friend, and eager to do something fun with him.

ooc;; Its fine Shae! Sorry for the wait, I thought you might like to repost in Maggie's account! <3

Saul gave a chuckling laugh as her silvery head whipped round and she almost came nose to nose with him. Perhaps he should have introduced himself first, coughed or made it obvious he was behind her instead of startling her with a snap to her heels. But he was feeling a little disappointed today and therefore lacked the usual lighthearted tones that he had most days. Uncharacteristicly, Magnolia greeted him with a shy note to her tone, although the young male thought it probably had more to do with uncertainty that anything. Perhaps she was not allowed to venture too far away from home. Still, he gave a soft smile to her 'hi', finding it unnessecary to comment further on her greeting, considering the fact that he had already said hi to her first. She seemed to perk up however and told him what she was doing.

"Frogs? Well, I dont know about that Maggie! Maybe their all hiding from you!"

He teased with a smile and a ruffle to her head with his paw. He was in his lupus form, despite his ability to shift and he preferred this form just fine. Maybe he would warm to his optime form when he was older, but right now four paws seemed like a perfectly right number. And beside, he assumed his height would have freaked the young female out anyway. Being at her level made it much easier to play and talk, definate advantages. She spoke again and Saul gave a laugh. He was pretty sure all the frogs had returned to their brith places to breed, or so he had read about. But Maggie probably wouldn't understand that. So instead, he teased her once again.

"Or maybe their sleeping? We should go to the spring and see if there are any there- they like water"

Came his jovial response. Despite his disappointment at winter killing the grape vines, the energy of the Monroe girl was cheering him up. Tail wagging softly, he moved aside to let Maggie take the lead, a large smile on his face once more.

guess who didn’t even think about that XD

Saul ruffled her silvery fur and the dark patch between her ears, and the little girl wrinkled her face in fake annoyance. Magnolia liked Saul. He was playful, despite the fact that he was much older than her. He was a better playmate than Poppy or Foxglove – maybe it was because she realized she was turning into a tomboy. She didn’t care for girly things that much, but that didn’t matter right now. All that mattered was that she was on a mission! She was beyond determined to find her frog friends, even if it meant the duo had to look all day long.

“Why would they hide from me?” the little girl asked, whining. She had no idea that frogs could not survive well in cold weather. Then Saul suggested an idea that Magnolia hadn’t thought of – water. “Water?!” she barked, getting excited at the prospect of seeing her amphibian friends again. “Let’s go!” She said excitedly, jumping right into a full on sprint from the ground. She didn’t even wait to see if her friend was behind her, she knew Saul would get up eventually. Magnolia laughed while she ran, looking back every so often at Saul.

Some water wasn’t too far away, she knew. She had discovered the area on another run of hers earlier in the week. The girl ran until she found her special spot, and waited for Saul to catch up. Maggie slowed to a meander, wanting to reach the water when Saul was by her side.

ooc;; haha, its alright! <3

Green eyes danced softly as Maggie turned and scrunched her face up to try and make herself look annoyed. It didnt really work it it just made the Stormbringer male laugh to see her face all screwed up like that. He tried to mimick her face but just managed to make himself look constipated. Her cute voice made him listen and he could see how their mother would bend to their every wish. She was a very persuasive girl and Saul couldnt help but feel empathy for her as she asked him why the frogs would hide from her. Of course, a wolf a little bit older would understand that he was teasing, but he forgot that young puppies didn't quite understand sarcasm yet. He was about to explain it to her, or take it back either way, before she caught onto his word of water and seemed to be away.

Silvery body whisked away from him and for a moment Saul was gripped by a desire to drag her back to her mother. But puppied would never be contained and her trust in him would be broken if he were a worry guts. So with a laugh Saul took off after her. She was fast for a puppy, but no match for his longer and well muscled legs. He ran every morning and he was very good at it. Still, he didnt want to beat her and he hung back, taking large and slow strides to make it look as thought he were falling behind whilst still keeping her well in his sights. He already knew she was the adventurous type and he didnt fancy having to scoop her out of the river because she ran headlong into it. She stopped and waited for him to catch up, at which point Saul started to pant loudly as though she were too fast for him.

"You're too fast for me you know! Now, where are these frogs?"

He demanded with a crooked grin. He began sniffing around, knowing that there probably wouldnt be any frogs here. But he didnt mind playing this game with her. Tail waving in the air like a banner, Saul began to search by the water, green eys checking on Maggie every few moments to make sure he would be able to stop her if she fell in. That would be a disasterous way to hand her back to her mother- soaking wet from the river.

I feel so bad for the wait, I’m sorry ;;

Saul had played along with her game of finding new friends to play with. Frogs were slimy, awful creatures that would be fun to mess with if she could any. Maggie didn’t want to hurt them of course, just inspect them and find what made them so slimy. Saul could probably answer why they were so wet to the touch, but Maggie didn’t feel like being annoying to her friend so she didn’t ask. Looking up from the shoreline the silvery female looked back at Saul, watching what he was doing. By now, she would have probably found a frog so she assumed there weren’t any here. Which meant they had to find something else to do!

“Where’d they all go?” She said, pouting at the ground. She dipped one silvery paw into the chilly water, and jumped back in shock. It was too cold for her! “We should find something else to here, I think they all left,” she said quietly, a little bit sadly. The little girl looked at the water again, with a devilish grin forming on her maw. The little girl ran away from the water, whipping around back the way she was before stopping. “Dare me?” the little one asked mischievously.

ooc;; <3333 dont be silly shae! ^^

There was something so young about Magnolia and her sisters that made Saul's heart ache for a moment. It made him realise that he never really had a childhood- his grandmother had made sure that they had no mother and their own father was never cut out for parenthood. He apparently wasnt made of the stuff usual dads were made of and he didnt get along well with young pups. Saul and his siblings, until now, hadnt been in the same place at the same time since they were probably born. Though Shiloh hadn't returned yet Saul always held out hope that, if his father did anything for them, he would return their pristine sister and leave again. Saul didnt hate his father but there was a certain dislike for the man that didnt appear to have a backbone in bringing his children up. So Saul was a touch jealous of the young girls for their youth when he had been robbed of his.

The disappointed look on the silver females face was heartbreaking, but Saul had known all along that there would be no frogs here today. And by the time they came about in the spring Maggie would probably find them uninteresting. An apologetic smile curved his lips along with the strong urge to tell the little girl 'I told you so'. However, Saul recognised that this perhaps wasnt the best response to the girl and so crept forward to have a look for himself- just in case. He lifted rocks with his nose and nuzzled into the reeds around the spring before looking back into her mint green eyes.

"I'm sorry Maggie. Maybe they're sleeping because of the cold?"

He offered with a small lick to the little girls head. She wasnt family, techinically, but Saul felt a certain connection to almost everyone in Dahlia and considered them extended family of some sort. The small like to the girls darker head was a casual lick, nothing meaningful- something meant to comfort. She spoke again and Saul bit back the remark that everything was hibernating. He was pretty certain that the fish, though sluggish, were still active. Green eyes made a quick sweep over the riverbed and was pleased to see a flash of silver as a fat fish moved this way and that. However before he could tell Maggie about the fish before she made a break away from the water. It was obvious what she intended to do.

"Maggie, you'll scare the fish away!"

There was a soft hint of panic in his voice. It was coming into winter and though Saul had gained control of all three forms he didnt know if he would calm down enough to help the little girl out of the freezing water. She didnt have her adult coat and therefore her soft down fuzz was permeable to water. She would surely be freezing. Maybe he could distract her with the fish and she wouldnt hurl herself into freezing water today.
