She was surviving the climate, barely. It seemed that the cold winds had taken their bitterness out on her small self and her form was thin to say the least, the dark hollows of her tawny gold eyes stood out prominently through sleep deprivation – and the girl hadn’t touched a morsel of meat in what seemed forever. She swayed above the sand, allowing her ebony tipped tail to slither from side to side. The sea was rough today, it reminded her of the whirlwind she had just come through, how many towns she’d slept in, how much the woman had stolen –she felt truly sinful for her actions that rest heavily upon her conscience, but nothing could be done for it now -she just had to move on. She situated herself on the sands, lifting her satchel over her ears and onto the dull yellow grains, rummaging behind her father’s cracked and weathered skull, clasping a loose rolled cigarette and a ruby red lighter.

Bringing the lighter up to her pursed lips, she made three attempts at lighting the roller but when she summoned the ember spark the crisp north wind spitted on it, until a little flicker caught onto the tobacco allowing the woman to quench her desperate craving. ”Hello Sanity, darling.” she spoke, the smut grey fumes twirling out of her nostrils, a delicate smile reaching across her face with relief.
Lowering herself onto her back she took each draw as if it were her last, thoroughly taking her time and enjoying each to the full, savouring the total endearing calm it influenced on her mind as it were, staring into the ocean. Watching the grey foam waves pile and tussle on each other was quite therapeutic, their whispering roar a beautiful siren to her ears hypnotising the woman to close her eyes and take a break from the vast dull surroundings she laid in, a offer she was bound never to refuse – allowing her golden eyes to take a rest for a while.

Hello New comer

Saluce was out and about today and in a uncommon good mood that seemed to not fit him lately. The tall male was out again armed as always with his swords and dagger. Today he moved off toward the beaches, he had soundly patrolled the southern and eastern borders and now he felt like it was time to look to the northern borders. It was quickly becoming a daily ritual for him to patrol before returning to his shop to work for awhile then home to Layla.

It wasn’t long until the ocean was in view and the spray coming off it wasn’t nice or comforting, the cold spray dampened his fur and started to spoil his otherwise good mood this morning. His nose sifted through the salt filled air with intrigue before he continued on noting any differences from the last time he was this way. Then as he was about to leave he noticed a strange scent on the air that demanded his further attention. Great he thought to himself, I’ll have to endure this devil spray longer he thought before continuing on.

He fell upon her quickly not sure what it was he was after with the salt masking most of her scent, before his eyes quickly looked across and spotted her. Unsure of the intentions of this stranger, since the last one he met felt he needed to prove something he quickly became on guard as he addressed them.

“Bonjour Stranger, what are you intentions out here?”

OCC: hai there Smile wc: 374

Her eyes opened slightly with the awareness of a new canine drawing near, pushing herself upright she looked over at the dark shape, slowly puffing out a new cloud of smog which seemed to dissolve into the ocean’s misty spray right before her very eyes. As he approached she glowered at him with questionable golden eyes before turning back to face the tide, drawing another inhalation of the now wrinkling cigarette then holding the stub in-between her lips. She assumed he was just a passerby, and would leave her realm in a moment, without a word preferably –after all, she wasn’t on any pack lands, or at least she thought not, as she hadn’t crossed any marked borders or signs gates or fences, just travelled along the worn human-made road that lead here to this far out place clueless of where she was.

It was when the grey wolf approached her that she began to move, with his questioning to her of her intentions. She turned her head up to face him, her snout producing a signature smile complimented with brilliant golden eyes. She didn’t stand up as the woman feared she may have toppled over if strong enough gusts came along and it would just have reminded her of how short she really was up against any other wolf. The man seemed suspicious of her, of all wolves to be suspicious of and this amused the girls mind greatly letting a giggle slip out. “ Me? My intentions... Im afraid I can’t really help you there as im having trouble answering that one myself” She spoke, then turning her head away slightly to exhale the rest of her happiness inducing toxins. She rose to her feet brushing the sand from her frail form removing the shrivelled tobacco roll from her mouth and burying it in the sand underfoot. "But now then, surely you wouldn’t assume me a threat? Have you seen the state of me? I couldn’t put a scratch on you even if I wanted to…. Im sure I haven’t crossed any marked borders, but if I have it would be of great honour if you could take me to your alpha or highest order?” she questioned the man.

He sat and studied her for a moment, never in much of a mood for humor when greeting a stranger. His eyes burned quietly, she hadn’t crossed the border but it wasn’t too far behind him and it was close enough for him to justify questioning. The female was a handsome one at that even for a mated male he had to acknowledge that. So as her responses came he merely rested his hand for a moment in a sign of lowering his animosity toward the stranger.

“Dahlia De Mai borders are not too far away Madam. It is only protocol for me to question the intentions of a stranger so close to my home.”Saluce gave her the run of the mill answer but it should have told her everything she needed to know. Everything he loved was beyond that line and he wouldn’t just leave the borders open to a stranger even if she was weak and couldn’t be a threat. Those blues continued to study her withered frame, not much caring for the smoking but he wasn’t too worried about that. He was more worried about her condition; she seemed to have happened upon their pack lands at about the right time.

Finally his hands left his swords as he neared her, “Other than needing rest and food, what is it you request of my Alpha? I can take you to see him, and I’m sure he’d be welcomed to have a visitor at his house.” His demeanor had changed a bit, softened as he crossed his arms in front of her. Wondering if this one would have to be carried in order for her to get there or if just having him as a leaning post would as she walked.

With a sigh he smiled lightly “It’s a bit of a trip up the coast and up the hills to wolfville to see him.” He offered his paw to help her over the rocks as a gesture before he’d lead her out of this devils spray to warmer winds.

He responded promptly to her questions, and she tried to carry herself as a mature adult that she appeared to be. The girl hid her naiveties well though, and brushed her fiery scarlet hair from her eye, stuffing her lighter into the satchel and slinging it over her shoulder, graciously accepting the patroller’s offer of a helping paw. “Dahlia De Mai, what an intriguing name for a pack, I know… it is only natural to protect those close to you, and it is your job after all. I pity you, no-one should be made to patrol against bitterness of the north wind –it’s been so cold lately” she placed a pretty smile on her face as he helped her over the rocks, the girl’s small frame shivered slightly against the desperate reaching cold ocean’s spray.

” Oh yes I would like to see him, that would be lovely. I want to find home...It appears I have been lost for so long, running from what I really need and twisting in circles when the answer was really quite simple, the solution always right under my nose. Oh im sure I can make it that far, im used to living it rough anyways.” she optimistically stated her lustrous eyes glaring down at her torso the skin clinging to the bone , she ran her hand across her ribs, it pained her more with every hollowing arc her fingers rubbed across before she ruffled her fur to make it appear she was in better health. How did she let her get herself in such a state that truly pained her to think of, the girl was so vain about her figure and now there was nothing left to flaunt. She was stripped like a tree of bark down to the bare foundations of her very core. She glanced up at the patroller who had kindly helped her sickening self her head barely reaching quite far off his shoulder, one of her less desired traits she was so kindly gifted. ”So, may I know your name? Oh and how many of your family reside in Dahlia De Mai? If you don’t mind me asking” she continued to commute, it had been so long since she had last had any form of social interaction with anything other than herself and she was craving it more than her beloved cigarettes, which clearly stated something about her current physiological frame of mind.

Sorry for teh suck

He just nodded as he escorted her into DDM territory, she seemed to have a lot to say and he didn’t so he was content to let her ramble as the pair walked out away from the menacing sea. For a few moments he just kept quiet choosing his words to the female. She had asked if he had any family there and except for his mate, no one was related to him. But in essence they were still his family no matter if they shared blood or not so the answer was difficult to explain, even with his proficiency of the English language.

So with a smile he replied to her question “They are all my family. But as far as blood relatives, I have none in this land. So I live in Dahlia with my mate, with the others who I watch over.” He was content for now to let her think him just a normal patrolling wolf. However he considered himself much more then that within Dahlia, there wasn’t that many male influences within the pack other then Conor and himself that he knew of and so far he was making sure the younger males were growing up strongly. For now he kept a close watch on those he knew especially Saul and Gideon.

The man spoke very little in return to what she had said, and she got the ever more growing feeling that she was just rambling on about non-sense, which in all fairness she was really. He told her about how he had no relatives living in these unknown lands she walked on, and how he lives in the pack with his mate. She morally decided to tone it down a little bit, and turned her head to face him with a beautifully warming smile spread across it. ”I bet your lady is very beautiful, its lovely you’ve found someone” she softly said towards the male, and his mentioning of watching over the others triggered in her mind that he may be somewhat of a fathering image to the rest of the packs males, apart from one she was ever so eager to meet.

She anticipated the meeting with the alpha male of the pack, and hopefully her acceptance and gift of a new beginning, finally being able to turn a blind eye to the depression of her troublesome past. She felt so feeble up against the dark man and hoped that she would become part of the family he seemed to have described as closely bonded despite not being threaded together through genes or blood. She raised her hand to her forehead, an expression of disbelieve lit upon her face ”Im so hot and tired, may i sit for a while?” Her eyes floated to the swords on either side of his belt, in comparison with the dagger firmly held in place around his ankle, her vision gained a blurred edge and she swayed a little with the false delirium her world was spinning and swirling on a pinnacle distorting wildly out of control from right to left and inverting continuously. It seemed exhaustion had finally set its firm grip on the girl, and no matter how forcefully her mind pushed to stay alert, she couldn’t help but fall gracefully into unconsciousness, tippling backwards onto the ground and landed on it with a light thump her small stature scattered over the floor, the fever hovering like a waiting vulture then seized the opportunity and enclosed in upon her.

The behemoth sighed as he watched the scene unfold to his right. He had guessed she was weak and now that assumption was coming true but now it just meant he was going to have to carry her now. It would have been easy to just leave her, so easy to toss her aside but he thought back to his own first meeting with a dahlia member, not so far from the place he stood. The leg still bothered him, they hadn’t left him to die alone and so he wouldn’t leave her to her fate here.

Saluce popped his neck as he bent down to pick her up, letting his arms snake under her to carry her in the easiest position for her if she was to wake back up on the trip there. The climb was still looming over him but for the warrior it wasn’t an issue. He’d just grit his teeth and bare it as he always did, pain could be ignored until later. The women herself was beautiful mutt he gave her that, but quickly those thoughts where extinguished from his mind as visions of his own goddess at home swirled in on him. No he was taken, Layla claimed him and thus it was not his place to be thinking such thoughts of another.

Finally he reached the summit of the hill and onto the mainland that the main part of the pack lands resided on. Saluce paused a moment catching his breath against the harsh bitterness of the cold before continuing on towards Conor’s home. Normally he’d take them to his home for Layla to nurse back to health but she had requested the alpha. So the alpha she would have.

Finally he reached the home of his leader and kicked on the door as a way to nock since he couldn’t use his hands, then waited for him to answer.

Lilac eyes turned bright and round with surprise as he opened the door to investigate what hid behind his front door. Hackles rose instinctually as urgency found his form and made him move to the side, gesticulating soundlessly for the shadow furred man to enter his home. ”Couch.” Lavender shortly focused on the unconscious shape cradled in Saluce’s arms. An alien being amongst the heavy population of wolves. Her blood seemed to be heavily mixed; for her features and markings were most unusual. Such details did not inspire even the slightest hint of disapproval, for Dahlia de Mai had changed for the better in those ways. Racism was something to be frowned upon, and did not exist in the caramel hued leader.

”Tell me what happened,” the male spoke sternly, voice calm despite the situation that had invaded his quiet day. Face turned to stare at the stairs leading the way up to the attic where his medicine bag was located, but first he’d stay and listen to the explanation. The alpha already had an idea of the situation merely judging the female’s undernourished appearance. Conor had to wonder how far the darker hued man had carried the lifeless woman.

Conor was quick to assess the situation and he did as instructed as he laid her down on the couch before he allowed himself a bit of relaxation on the chair next to it. A loud audible sigh escaped his lips, somewhat displeased that he had carried another stray into dahlia. If this was his punishment for the lives he took then he could already anticipate a life of service. His eyes looked back up to Conor at his question.

Saluce took a breath; the journey had sapped the energy out of him and he wasn’t quite ready to speak. Those blue orbs finally settled on the women as what seemed like hours passed between him and Conor before he spoke.

“Was out patrolling along the beach today. Hadn’t been up that way in several weeks, the spray off the ocean is enough of a deterrent now for any travelers to not risk it. She was out along the shore. Never did get her name I believe but she wanted to meet you. We were on our way back when she collapsed. I carried her the rest of the way.” That was enough to get the story across. He wouldn’t tarry with any other details that where meaningless.

He stood then feeling his energy renewed for the time being. “Going to get a drink, I’ll be back shortly”he was parched and Conor really wouldn’t need his help now but he was going to stick around, make sure Conor wasn’t alone with a stranger until their intentions where revealed.

”Hmm,” the male replied, moving to hover over the unconscious canine. Saluce said that she had asked for him, but for the leader or for Conor by name? The Dahlian was positive that he had never laid his lavender eyes on this female, and her scent spoke of no permanent home. A typical loner, but he could not assume her attentions just like that. He was not blind of Saluce’s exhaustion, but the female’s lack of consciousness made her first priority. When the member was done explaining, lilac looked up briefly. ”You should have called for me.” She was here now though, and in good hands. That was enough.

A light cream painted hand gently pressed against the woman’s ribs, feeling the bone underneath her fur with ease. ”Underweight,” the man simply observed. Perhaps exhaustion was what had caused her to lose consciousness. ”Could you bring some water when you return?” he asked when the man announced that he was going for a drink. Unfortunately there wasn’t any meat in the house for once, but perhaps the woman would feel better with a drink once she woke up.

Saluce didn’t offer any answer to his alpha’s questions. Conor should have known that Saluce wouldn’t bother him unless it was absolutely necessary. The behemoth knew he was under stress and if he could help lift a burden from his shoulders he would. He knew Conor and Bris had been tested in their relationship, he just hoped they would be able to still love each other after everything was over. For now though he simply nodded at Conor’s suggestion for water. There was a small spring nearby and if it wasn’t frozen yet he’d collect some water there, as his body left the house, a bucket in hand to collect water.

10 minutes later his form finally walked back through the door, coat speckled with flakes of snow that hadn’t melted. The behemoths paw was slightly bloodied, evidence that the spring had in fact frozen over but he had used a rather primitive technique to bust through the ice. A quiet look was returned to Conor as he placed the water next to him.

“With everything you’ve been through lately, I’ll only call unless I really need you Conor. Other then that I consider it my job to help you run things around here, if not a leader in title but one in spirit.” He laughed then before patting him with his good paw. Before going to take up his seat in the chair, inspect his hand and wrap it if need be.

“Until Saul and Gideon are of age, it’s basically us two to help keep things together.” Saluce wasn’t exactly being sexist but he knew that the pack needed strong and intelligent males to assist Conor and Saluce with helping keep order. Sure they had several strong willed and very intelligent females, actually they had quite a few but still that old mechanism hidden away in his genes said it was his job to provide and protect, and fighting instinct was not easy.

OCC: this is really bad epic fail. -.-‘ Wc: 296

Her mind lay scattered across all dimensions, and it seemed that the woman’s state of mind was trapped in the delicate twilight zone between the realm of consciousness and defeat. Her thoughts thrashed wildly to summon her conscious state, illustrious golden orbs bursting forward into light. She awoke with hurtling force reaching forward and grabbing the closest object to her a stranger’s hand of a blurred caramel shade, pupils dilated widely the pinto’s vision weakly focused. She panted rapidly clinging to it as if it were her safe guard from being consumed from the darkness once more but who was this stranger that was here anyway?

The girl limply let go of this stranger’s hand, thumping delicately back into the couch, raising her hands to her face and rubbing her eyes repeatedly like it was all a mirage, a huge sigh of relief passing her lips that she had escaped the bleak darkness. She grumbled lowly her voice cracking ”Uh… Where am i?” her hands leaving her face as she turned to decipher her surroundings. The woman pondered of what situation exactly had led her to be indoors and the strange man that had approached her at the borders was present too, who appeared to be resting in a chair inspecting his paw.

”…What happened, are you okay?” she mumbled towards her escort before her head tilted back to the stranger observing. ”Who are you?” She questioned the lilac-eyed male, her expression flooded with curiosity. The girl attempted to stand slowly swinging her petite structure around and planting her feet on floor. Her motion was thoroughly crushed though as when she applied pressure to her limbs the muscles simply would not agree in co-ordinance of her desires sending a shuddering volt up the woman’s arm. ”uh…” she trembled weakly

It was not before the dark man returned that he received an answer. Lilac peered up in acknowledgment, but he did not have a vocal reply to return. It would have been worth a call if the woman had asked for him specifically, but this wasn’t anything he’d care to discuss, at least not at this moment. He decided to settle on simply being grateful for the extra hand, for it did make a difference. The golden wolf noted the slight stain on the dark male’s paw and cocked his head. ”I have an antibacterial tonic upstairs for your paw,” he gently pointed out, looking to his friend with a curious glance.

There was more, but the female next to him stirred slightly, mumbling scattered words, drunk with confusion. His hand was grasped and he moved slightly with surprise, but was not taken aback enough to draw away from her. ”It’s okay—you’re safe here,” he spoke, tone soft and gentle. The awakening woman slunk back into her seat and the alpha turned his full attention to her. A smile was drawn across his lips as she was the one to question if he was okay. He was about to respond to her, but she was intent on doing several things at once. ”You should sit down,” he breathed, not wanting her to be up and about immediately after awakening. ”How do you feel?”

”I’m Conor, the alpha of this pack, you asked for me.” There was curiosity in his lavender eyes.

The woman’s confusion was short lived. Although she had sprayed the room with questions it seemed her dismay was surely soothed with the cooling tone of the caramel man’s voice projected towards her. Her attempts to stand and greet proved a failure and she was gently advised to remain seated and of course she did so, she couldn’t argue with the voice that had just ensured her she was in safe hands. She laid back onto the couch then raised a small hand that gently wiped away the cascade of crimson hair from her face before answering the man’s query about how she felt at this moment although she paused slightly, gaining the acknowledgement that he was the alpha of these lands before commencing. ”Its Shayna, a pleasure to meet you Conor. I bet you don’t receive many wrecks like me very often…” the girl giggled weakly her cheeks blushed with embarrassment. What a joke to be presented to the alpha like this – and she had grabbed his hand upon her clumsy awakening too, such a stupid, stupid girl she shunned to herself on repeat mentally, her day was just getting better and better.
Anyway, now she had his full attention and a certain curiosity was lit in his eyes of a light violet hue, one of which was unfamiliar to her, how intriguing. Her golden eyes set firmly on his as she continued and finally answered the alpha’s pending question ”Im so tired Conor” patchwork head tilted slightly up towards the ceiling her chest expelled a deep sigh from the very core of her soul – she felt broken, emotionally and physically her once proud badge of self pride found unpinned. This man in front of her held her future delicately in his hands as if it were a fragile butterfly without the sweet due of nectar within reach, he just didn’t know it yet.

Wasn't real particular on where I wanted to go with this but knew I needed to get the thread movin

Blue orbs watched his friend and superiors eyes for a moment before looking back to the girl. Saluce considering replying but he just shook his head in a yes like fashion. Then his eyes went back to Conor’s when his offer came across his eyes. His eyes moved to look at his busted knuckle, the blood had already dried so he wasn’t worried. Saluce had suffered far worse and Conor was a witness to that. Saluce sat silently as the two exchanged words, already he felt out of place. This wasn’t his domain, caring and taking care of people weren’t his strong suits. Need something lifted? Carried, or beaten to a bloody pulp? Yes those where his strong points. But instead of walking out and back home he stayed to watch. If for nothing else but to watch Conor.

For a moment he sensed a brief sense of distaste in his mouth, from their earlier exchange. Saluce had given Conor his loyalty freely and even had submitted to his judgment on the trespasser but now it seemed Conor wanted him to howl out any minor thing for him to respond to? Again it left a bad taste in his mouth; it felt like a brief moment of distrust. With all that swirling around in his head he stood and decided to take his leave. He wouldn’t bother Conor again.

“I’m heading home. “ he said quietly as he walked out, speaking volumes as to where his mind was at the moment.

The fiery hued female did as he requested, and her name was Shayna. He gently shook her head as she seemed to consider herself a wreck. This was nothing they could not fix. A loner’s life was probably harder than he could imagine, and they could only be grateful that she had managed to get to a pack land before passing out. He assumed it was due to lack of nutrition that had made her pass out, but now when she was awake, they would quickly be able to find out what was the matter.

Saluce departed, and lavender eyes sought for eye contact to express gratitude for his Jager’s assistance, but the man’s pace had already brought him outside and out of the picture for now. Ears leaned back towards his skull in silent thought about the way his pack member left the scene, but he couldn’t be concerned about that now. The woman had his attention. She said that she was tired, and so there was no better medicine than rest. ”You should rest then, Shayna.” Everything else could wait, for they had all the time in the world. ”We can discuss matters afterwards,” but for now he wished for her to rest. ”I will see if I can track down something to eat when you wake up.” It would be good to get out of the house.
