Curiosity Killed the...Wolf?

Waaaa! Sorry! Backdated! Backdated to the 28! >.<

A change of pace had been the right decision for the white wolfess. Although she had been far from bored in AniWaya, she had begun to notice that, although she had brought back a lot of shiny bits from her previous journey, she was still lacking enough to call...'adequate', in her opinion. Ralla loved all sorts of decorations--shiny things, broken toys...'junk'--and she was especially fond of the feathers and beads. She had been so busy lately that she had neglected, however, to put into use the beads and bits she'd found and braid them in her fur.

Not at liberty to be as long gone as before, Ralla opted for the begining part of her previous circuit. The outlying Long Gone houses in the Ethereal Eclipse part of Nova Scotia had been her favorite, and the brief glimpse of the ocean had been pleasant. The path that she was headed had once taken her through a small gathering on buildings, however deserted they had once been. Instead...

What's this...? She sniffed the air contemplatively, confused as to the sudden appearance of...A territory marker...? And it was strong, too. It had certainly not been so terribly long ago that she had passed through and the area had been quite deserted; but now there was a strong border clearly saying 'no trespassers'. The night was cloudy with only glimpses of the waning moon's brilliance visible through the shifting darkness, and the stars were all but silenced through the veil of grey. Within, Ralla battled whether she wanted to investigate this rare and strange occurence. On one hand, she had been travelling since that morning and was tired, and Sugar had been going just as long. The gelding, sensing that they were where they were not supposed to be, snorted and pawed the ground. Ralla was adept only at a small portion of low speech, having spent so much time with Sugar and other animals, so their communication was broken, at best.

"Come on, Sugar," she soothed. "What's the worse that can happen?" Overwhelmed by curiosity, Ralla lifted her moon-pale snout to the sky and let out her peculiar howl to summon whoever had placed the territory marker. For awhile, no one came. Puzzled with patience waning--little time to waste in the night before she had to start her return in the next day or two--Ralla let her curiosity win over her, and she tied Sugar's reigns to a tree before she stepped over the marker. This territory was not claimed when I came through...and I have not heard of a new pack at all, nor have I had any inkling from the moon about one. While this was all true, one would have thought the territory marker a clear enough sign...

She stepped lightly over the dying brush and earth before climbing the nearest tree. The forest was old, and the trees were large. Green firs and other never-dying trees were abundant, but many oaks and redwoods also abounded, giving the white wolfess the leverage she had used countless times to scout out what was in front of her. She was reluctant to go far into the territory, so she kept close to the borders, but... Something about the place--something new--was in the area, and Ralla wanted to know exactly what. After flitting through the branches like an eerie mist, the white wolfess settled in a tree and trained her eyes to see who may come yet still. If no one came... Well, she would not disturb a quiet hornet's nest for honey if she didn't get any on the most delicate of tries. Pushing one's luck was never...fruitful.

Moon walks. "Moon talks." Moon thinks.
