For Saul, Naniko and Melee <3 I am imagining he made it to Oberon's Spring, I just did not say that specifically in the post since he wouldn't know what to call it! Let the fun begin ^_^ Ooh almost forgot to note, we are dating this thread as December 13! WC 500+

The little D’Angelo pup watched dawn creep up as the sun slowly began to peek over the Dahlian horizon. The pair of pups had made it across most of Whisper Beach by the time the sun began to rise but the beautiful sight of the rosy daybreak and snow spattered beach was lost on the boy. This was the longest he had ever spent away from the warmth of his mother, and he was regretting his brash decision the day before to run off and play without heeding her boundaries. Yesterday had started off promising with it’s array of new sights, sounds, and scents, but after hours of exploration and play, the pup started to realize the dilemma he was in. His stomach had begun to rumble wildly and he did not know how to find his way back home. For a while he tried to follow the scent trail his markings had left, but he had wandered miles away from Anathema, and his untrained senses could not guide him back home, so he did the next best thing he could think of and followed little Melee back to her homelands.

Together they had talked, played, and napped, and by now Scorpius’s energy was waning. There was a feeling in the pit of his stomach, an unsettling feeling that was different than the hunger he felt. As he padded along in silence all he could think about was his mother, and how he yearned for her comfort. His paws ached, he was cold (although sometimes keeping by the other cub helped matters), he was thirsty, and he was pretty sure his stomach was beginning to eat him from the inside. On top of it all, he had just faithfully followed another pup into alien territory, a place that reeked of strange canines. It all had him a little on edge, and the fur on the back of his neck prickled with anxiety.

The young coal colored pup followed the earthen hued Dahlian girl until his paws would tread in the snow no longer, then he started to whine. “Don’t you have a home someplace around here?” Despite the instinctive uneasiness of being in another pack’s territory, the pup did not know that wandering up to unfamiliar adults may prove hazardous to his health.

His ears swiveled as the sound of gently trickling water trailed through the air. He perked up, lifting his head while his little nose worked to confirm the presence of a stream, though he could discern nothing what with the hindrance of the snow. He pranced towards the sound, leaving the beach and entering a thicket of frosted woods. He soon found the stream he was looking for, though the water was covered with a thin sheet of ice to a few feet out. He was at the banks at once and just about to drop his weight on the thin ice when he heart it crack beneath his paws. He whimpered and stepped back. He wanted to get out to get a drink of water, but his guts screamed at him to stay off of the slick surface. He dropped his haunches to the ground and curled his tail around his legs for warmth.

Then it suddenly occurred to him... the snow and the water smelled the same. He lowered his muzzle and sampled the blanket beneath his paws, and he was pleased to find that crunching the ice chips relieved his thirst, though his mouth was soon numb.

ooc;; figured i would get in here first!

Winter was becoming more and more difficult to deal with for the young Stormbringer male. He was still hunting for Tsukiko in her invalid state of not being able to hunt. He still managed to catch one of two rabbits for the younf Japanese woman a week but he was finding it harder and harder to find the little blighter's. He knew that he had to find more inventive ways to track down the small animals but they were becoming less and less around Dahlia in the winter. Maybe he would have to expand his hunting range, because although he had an obligation to Tsukiko he knew he needed to eat as well. He had also been seriously considering a new place to live now that the Victorian house was beginning to feel more claustrophobic.

One of the ideas he had been considering was building himself a cabin out by the spring. His flight to Phoenix Valley and to Addison's cabin had sparked in Saul an interest for the wooden houses. He could imagine building his house near the spring so that he could bath each morning as he always had done before continuing on his run. He could build it with a few rooms so that if he were to ever have any children they would have rooms to stay in. He liked the idea of a kitchen and a living room where he could sit and whittle away some wood the way Shawchert had taught him. Maybe he was becoming old quickly, but Saul liked the idea of settling down in his own home.

Green eyes looked upon the landscape, trying to imagine where his little wooden cabin might be. It was still very early morning and he was on his way to the spring to take his daily bath before he set off on his roam around Dahlia. However, as he came into veiw of the spring an odd sight caught his attention. A small black pup was snapping at the snow, almost drinking it. Saul wondered why he didnt just drink from the spring. The ice wasnt too frozen over and one could break through. However, his mind caught up with him and he realised the pup was probably too small to break it without falling in. Still, Saul wondered who this pup belonged to- he had never seen a purely black pup in Dahlia.

"You know, the stream water tastes much better... who are you?"

He chuckled before moving towards the lake. Perhaps this was a lost puppy from another land. If it was, then he had no idea what he was going to do about it. Keeping calm was Saul's main commodatie and Saul smile calmly at the black pup before trotting over to the lake and pushing a hole through the ice with his paw. It would have been easier if he was in his optime form but lupus was much easier to run in, he found. Waiting for the pup to take its fill, green eyes glanced around to see if it had been accompanied by anyone.

Wheee! Let's get this started :3

Melee couldn’t believe that Scorpius was actually following her home. She figured he would have left his pack lands more than once like she did. She had no idea he was lost and didn’t know how to get back. She gave a small sigh as she began to fall behind him. She was still tired from spending a majority of the day with him and just wanted to relax now. The snow was beginning to pile up on the pup’s fur and was making her cold. She wanted to rush home to the warmth of her family and hide under a blanket while she slept; although she knew that wasn’t going to happen. She had to take care of the problem on her hands. How was she going to get this male pup back to his home if even she didn’t know where it was? She didn’t want to just wander around in the cold searching. Perhaps someone from home would notice he was missing and come get him. Her ears and tail remained down as she braved through the harsh weather. She actually hoped now that someone would come looking for her. She didn’t want to worry anyone in her family. The girl took a moment to shake some of the snow off her fur before she continued on.

Melee stopped when the pup asked if she had a place to stay here. She nodded and then whined from the chill of the day. ”Ya. I live with Daddy. I dun know whewe he is wight now.” She wondered if her dad had actually left the house to come look for her. She figured he hadn’t and that he was doing some of his other duties. They arrived to the stream, as was one of the most common places to find the girl when she was hanging outside. She was hiding in the bushes to try and get a little warmer and used the leaves to brush some of the snow off her fur. She peeked out often to make sure that Scorpius didn’t run away from her. She didn’t want to get in trouble from bringing him here.

Melee peeked out once she had gotten the snow off her back and noticed someone coming towards them. She knew she was going to be in trouble so she decided to hid for the moment. She then noticed that the figure was actually her uncle Saul. She smiled and bounded out form behind the bushes. She took to the male pup’s side as her uncle helped him get a drink. She wagged her tail in excitement. ”Hiya Uncle Saul!” She was sure he wanted to know why she was hiding and explain why Scorpius was here. She shivered for a moment before she addressed his question. ”Dis is Scorpius. He my new fwiend. He got lost and followed me home.” She hoped that her uncle wouldn’t be mad at her or tell on her for what she had done. She folded her ears down as she waited by her friend’s side.

OOC Scary Saul is scary! ^_^ 500+

For a moment Scorpius lost track of Melee and was not really concerned about it. All he was interested in was quenching his parched palette. The ice made a great racket as it grinded between his molars and in his distraction he failed to notice Saul’s approach until the fellow was just about on top of him. His eyes bugged and his jaw dropped with surprise, watery ice dripping from his muzzle for a moment until he remembered to swallow it. He did not even bother to lap his pink tongue to clean up around his mouth, astonished as he was over Saul’s appearance. And suddenly the realization of just what he had done set in.

Though Scorpius was a bold little pup, this had finally become too much. He was barely old enough to survive on meat scraps instead of his mother’s milk, and now he was out of the den and had no clue which way home was. To top it off, he was now being confronted by a rather large male. To Scorpius, the gray individual might as well have been six years old and ten feet tall and speaking in tongues!

His ears laid back and his usually pert tail drooped, though surprisingly the cub did not tuck tail completely. This was it, this was the end of Scorpius’ short little life! He would be chomped by those… huge… saber… fangs!! And his mother was nowhere around because he had been bored and run off while she was caring for the pack. His head dipped as he watched Saul punch a hole in the ice, presumably to stash his body in and cover up the evidence of the kill, and he was about to let out a feral whine when something bumped into his side as Melee materialized next to him. He started, jerking his gaze to her.

“Melee, no, run!” he yelped, somehow finding his voice and his paws all at once. He spun around and nipped at her sides in a very wolfish ‘hurry up!’ but as he started to run past her, she said something. Dumbfounded, he stopped and turned to her, the earthen hued pup now between himself and Saul. “What? Melee, what are you doing?!”

But just as he asked the words Melee spoke to Saul managed to register. It was just enough time for Scorpius to pause and assess the situation. He peered around from behind Melee and glanced back and forth between the two. “He is your… uncle?”

The trickle down was a little slow, but as the haze of his fear vaporized, the next thing the girl said also clicked. He gave an indignant snort and trotted up next to her side, suddenly all courage and pride again. “Excuse me? I did not get lost, thank you very much. I was just… making sure you got home safe. You know, didn’t run into any more rivers or butterflies or anything.” He made a show of rolling his ruby eyes, then let them fall on Saul, and for a split second he felt one last pang of fright at the thought of the size of the man’s teeth. Scorpius did not even realize that Saul was not quite an adult yet himself.

ooc;; awww scorpy is so cute!!

Cold water, for the second time that day, doused his paw and he stepped back to admire his work. It was no way near enough for the little guy to fall in, even if he managed to somehow do this. It was large enough for them both to drink out of and Saul took this opportunity to lower his head and lap at the freezing liquid beneath the ice. It was cooling and refreshing, but it hit his gut with an iron fist. A grun was exuded as he turned back to the black male and noticed for the first time the frozen manner with which the pup had stopped. The expression on the guys face was something Saul thought he would never see on anyone's face when presented with someone such as himself- Saul was nothing scary or anything. A confused look crossed his face as he slowly approached the male again, moving cautiously so as not to startle him.

"I wont hurt you little guy- I was just curious as to why you were here on your own..."

Words were both soft and cautious as he steps had been. Saul was now even more grateful he had stayed in his lupus form- the black puppy probably would have defecated on the snowy ground had he been presented with that. However, Saul didnt have long to hear if the black pup was going to say anything back. His niece ambled out from a bush looking pleased but a little cold. Green eyes glanced down at her damaged paw but he had learned the hard way that Melee hated having attention drawn to her disability. She hobbled a bit when she walked but otherwise she was fine. As she reached him and greeted him with a simple 'hey' Saul reached down to wrap a paw round the small puppies frame, noting the chill in her skin. He would warm her up soon. Attention was tugged at the scared voice of the black pup as he told Melee to run. However, his niece's title to him had alerted the black pup to the fact that he was family.

"Did you pick this one up Melee?"

He asked with a crooked grin and a soft lick to his neices head. Despite the fact that he wasn't masses older than her he was still mature and grown up enough to see that his niece was cold. But he didnt fancy shifting in this current situation so instead he watched as she remained at her new friends side, a worried look on her face. She introduced him as Scorpius and Saul smiled softly down at her. She was right to bring a lost puppy home, even if none of them knew how to return him. Despite the fact that Scorpius was now safe, he seemed to have a certain amount of pride in himself that came out when Melee had told him that he had been lost. Ears folded back just slightly at the little guys indignant tone and Saul felt a certain protectiveness over his niece that made him want to make the pup apologise. But he also realised that Melee was growing and needed these experiances without her uncle going ape shit at any guy who got a bit rude to her. Green eyes caught ruby at the male looked up at him.

"That was very kind of you Scorpius, to escort my niece home. Very gentlemanly of you. Have you two been out all night?"

He asked, a slight touch of concern marring his words. Surely his mother would be terrified by now. However, Saul could not simply whisk the little guy away to the borders and fob him off as someone elses problem- the Stormbringer was not like that. A smile graced his lips easily as he waited for an answer from either his niece or the dark boy, wondering where on earth they had been when they'd met each other.

I know right?! XD

Melee watched her uncle as he was trying to help out her new friend. She was thankfully that he wasn’t upset about him being here and didn’t try to send him away. She watched to see what Scorpius would do and see if he liked her uncle. The next thing she knew the male pup was scared of him and panicing. She couldn’t understand why he was acting like this. Saul was not a mean wolf and certainly didn’t look scary either. She couldn’t help but giggle at the pup’s actions before she came out of hiding and told her to look out. The girl smiled and introduced him. ”This is my Uncle Saul. He a nice wolf.” She rolled around playfully at her uncle’s feet as she waited for Scorpius to say something back.

Melee tuned her attention more so on her uncle when he asked if she picked this one up. What did that mean? She didn’t exactly pick him up. He followed her home so that would have meant nothing. She shook her head and wagged her tail. ”Silly Uncle Saul. I didn’t pick him up. He follow me home.” The pup was so glad to see that everything was calmer now and that Scorpius seemed to be feeling more comfortable with her uncle being there. The pup then felt her uncle pulling her towards her to warm her up. She licked his leg playfully before moving her head to invite her new friend over. She was sure he was cold too. She wanted him to warm up a bit before they tried to figure out how to get him home.

Melee couldn’t help but laugh as Scorpius tried to defend himself by saying he escorted her here. She didn’t need anyone to do that for her and she knew it was really because he was lost. She smiled to him and then gave him a small kind nuzzle but licking her uncle again. The pup looked back up to her uncle as he asked if they were out all night. She leaned her head on his leg and folded her ears down. ”If we did, would you not tell Daddy? I dun wanna get in twoble.”

OOC Sorry for the wait! 600+

Scorpius swelled with pride as Saul praised him on his valiant behavior, seeing to it that Melee returned to Dahlia de Mai safe and sound as he had. He gave Saul a dutiful nod as if to say ‘you’re welcome’ and then turned his eyes to Melee, who had now moved into Saul’s warmth. He watched for a moment, suddenly realizing just how cold he had become, especially now that they had stopped traveling for a while and his body did not have the exertion heating him up anymore. Yet still on his mind was his parched throat. His mouth had thawed again and it seemed the ice had truly not been enough to quench the thirst the night had tendered.

He was still wary of Saul, though the pup had relaxed considerably seeing how gentle the wolf was with little Melee, so after just a beat of hesitation he padded past the couple and lowered his muzzle to the hole Saul had punched in the ice. His little pink tongue furiously lapped up the freezing water, and he brought it in in gulps until it seemed he would drown himself. Once he was finally satisfied the D’Angelo pup sneezed the errant water from his nostrils as he lifted his nose away from the water. Beads of moisture dripped from his muzzle as his tongue darted out to lap up the stray bits of dampness. The pup had no finesse when it came to eating or drinking.

When he turned back to the Dahlians he envied the pair even more. Saul had an attractive coat that was perfect for weathering the winter. Some day, Scorpius’s coat would fill in like that too (he hoped), but for now his puppyish down was meant to be in a warm, dry den, next to his mother or a caring midwife. The icy water in his stomach was not helping matters, either, and the coal pup began to shiver. He felt like he should say something.

“Well, S-s-saul, thank-k-k you for the w-water,” he eked out, but the words came out more like distorted noises between his unsteady, trembling voice and his clacking teeth. “I’m s-s-sorry I th-ought you we-re a b-b-bad-d-d g-guy.”

Melee was his savior! The moment his eyes flicked from the Stormbringer to his friend she jerked her head and motioned him over. His eyes lit up and he lurched forward, quickly accepting the invitation before Melee had time to rescind. All of Scorpius’s prior suspicions about Saul were now gone as he trotted between the Stormbriner’s legs and nuzzled up against Melee, graciously licking her muzzle. The warmth was soothing and Scorpius began to warm up immediately.

He pressed his side against Melee and followed her gaze up to Saul’s face. If she was about to admit her misgivings then she must trust the man deeply. He cocked his head and awaited Saul’s answer, before cutting in himself and following Melee’s trustworthy lead.

“Okay, okay. Saul, I like you, so I’m gonna level with ya.,” he had this very casual, ‘let’s be straight’ air about him, as though he was doing Saul a favor. “I may be a little lost. You see, I did start to follow Melee home to make sure she was okay…” he was still fibbing, but only because he did not want to be embarrassed “…but… after a while I got a little confused and now I’m not sure which way I’m supposed to go to get back.” He dropped his head in shame and worry. Would he ever make it back home to Anathema? Was he ever going to see his mother again? Suddenly the reality of his plight mounted heavily on his shoulders, and the little ebony cub sagged, his ears falling back to accentuate his troubles.

She moved across the land, intent on her prey. The female had never felt so focused before; her son's scent was strong in her nostrils as she moved across the terrain after him. There was another scent mixed in and she paid attention to that one as well. One of them smelled a bit like Harlowe had when he had returned to her side, but she hadn't been certain of which lands her older son had come from to begin with. She would have to have a talk with him about what he had been up to before his acceptance to Anathema.

Naniko breathed heavily, padding as quickly as she could across the frosty terrain. She was a stranger in strange lands, but she wasn't thinking about that. She was fully and completely concentrated on getting to Scorpius and protecting him from whoever had puppy-napped him or lured him here. Naniko could see no other reason for him to have left Anathema. To say that she was angry would be an understatement; she was furious. The cogs in her head couldn't work out a reason for this, a reason for why Scorpius would have left the pack's lands and not come home to her. Who or what had lured him away from his mother? A young pup was a trusting pup in most cases, and she had thought that she had trained him well enough. Perhaps not.

More training would be in order, that was certain. If he was alive. She would teach him a lesson with harsh discipline, maybe keep him confined to their den for a few days as well. Dahlia's borders came and went as the mother trailed her son's scent, paying no heed to the territory markings. If they thought that they were going to take her son and lure him back into their lands without a fight, they were wrong. She hadn't thought to bring anyone else with her, not even a warrior, though."Scorpiusssss" Her voice called harshly as she ran, four paws swift beneath her, green eyes zipping this way and that as they sought out the form of her small son.

Green eyes watched with a bemused interest at Melee's passive behaviour to te situation. Although there would be no denying that it was classical Melee, bringing back a stray pup and angering it by accusing it of being lost, Saul could tell that she was just a little worried about what was going to happen after they got home. Saul hadn't noticed she'd been gone, but when Gideon woke up and found his daughter missing they would all know about it then. So in many ways he was grateful that he had been out here this morning and he'd seen Melee before Gideon had woken. Though there was no way to get a message to his brother Saul was certain he could return Melee to her bed before setting out with the little black boy to find out where he lived. Saul could remember what it was like to be young and lost, but he kenw Scorpius was younger than even he had been when the storm had hit. His nieces's giggle made him look down and smile sweetly at the chocolate and cream girl.

"Ah I see... Well thats okay then."

Saul murmered softly in her direction. When he'd pulled her into his warm embrace he'd felt the feather light lick against his leg. He caught the motion she made with her head to invite the black boy into their little huddle and the young boy smiled. Shifting his leg out so there would be more room for the boy if he decided to take his niece up on the offer. He was young, perhaps only just allowed out on his own, and it was obvious he was cold. The pup had finally decided that Saul was not planning on drowning him and took his time lapping up enough water to hydrate a camel for a few days. Green eyes danced with amusement as the boy lifted his head back up catching the droplets on his fuzzy chin. Cinnamon backed ears perked forward and a smile curved his lips at the boys words. He was so cold now he couldnt speak properly. However Scorpius took his moment to glance at Melee, who had just motioned for him to come over. The little black boy was wedged between them before Saul could blink.

"You're welcome Scorpius. And that's okay- every stranger looks like a big bad wolf until you get to know them."

His chest must have vibrated on both of their heads as he spoke and Saul tried not to laugh softly to himself with the image of two dark pups having their heads vibrating danced across his mind. However, his nieces worried expression caught his eye. As she began to speak Saul considered what she had to say. Saul doubted very much that Gideon would punish his children- he would be so grateful that she was back and unharmed that she probably would be the center of attention for weeks. But that would mean Range would be left out. A serious expression crossed over his face as he looked both pups in the eye. Though Gideon was less likely to tell them off, Saul could not help imagining if both pups had ended up somewhere other than Dahlia de Mai. Any number of things could have happened to them on the journey home. Melee was too young to leave Dahlia, that was for sure.

"I'm not going to tell Daddy... But Melee you have to understand that there are much bigger and scarier things out there, and unlike in here, nobody is there to protect you. I won't tell Daddy what happened... If you promise me that you won't go out of Dahlia's borders for at least another month."

Saul spoke seriously to his niece, but it was the worry in his voice that was most prominant. He had, in effect, grounded his niece without her realising it. But if she was murdered or killed and he hadn't done a thing about keeping her in Dahlia then it would haunt his consciounce forever. The little boy's voice caught him by surprise and the tone of his words made Saul grin softly above them. His listened to Scorpius admit that he had been lost, in the end. Green eyes watched as he dropped his head and a small wave of pity crashed over the Stormbringer male. The little guy had been out on an adventure and somehow he'd managed to end up lost in a completely foriegn land with a puppy he'd met the day before and a teenager that had found them out here. It must have been a scary moment for the dark boy. Gazing down into redenned eyes Saul gave the pup a reassuring lick on the head.

"Don't you go worrying Scorpius. It happens to the best of us. We'll just take Melee home and put her to bed before her daddy realises she's gone, then we'll see if we can get you home, eh?"

His voice was soft and fluid as he made his plan known to the pups. He would have taken Melee with him to find the boys home but Gideon would go spare if he woke to find her gone. So they would drop her off and then he would carry Scorpius in his arms- the boy looked exhausted. However, something caught the boys attention and keen green eyes were gazing sharply round the spring. It was not so much as a knowledge but a feeling, a feeling that somebody else was there. The caller had been too far away when she had shouted her sons name but his senses were picking up movement too quiet to hear. Lowering his head over both pups to shield them, Saul allowed a small growl to come forward as he looked to protect his cargo beneath his body.

"Who's there... Reveal yourself."

The man warned, and now he could see why Scorpius had found him scary. But he was protecting them and therefore the boy would have to deal with it. Green eyes kept a watchful vigil on the area around him, waiting for whomever was here to reveal themselves.

wc: 184 I thought the other two were going to go, but I dunno XD I'LL JUST GO AGAIN. :]

Naniko wasn't sure what to make of the scene that she had come across. Was this the wolf that had lured her son away from his pack? She raised her lip, showing her canines to both the male and the pup, trying to get in between them and her son. "He's not yours, he's mine." She growled, ears going back. How dare they try and take her son away from her. She had been training Scorpius for months now on the basics of puppyhood and adulthood, and she didn't think that he would have wandered away from the territory if he'd had a choice.

"Which one of them forced you to come here, Scorpius?" She asked, turning her gaze back to her son. "Which one?" She would do what she had to do, regardless of how many other wolves showed up. If he did call for help then she'd try and get a punch in on him as best she could before she would have to run away. "I followed your trail here." She said, training her gaze on the adult and foreign pup.

So sorry for the wait. I'll keep an eye on this thread from now on. SSWM: 483

Melee couldn’t help but smile as she noticed Scorpius and her uncle were now getting along better and that he wasn’t scared anymore. She was so happy to see that he had also come by to warm up in between Saul’s legs with her. It was nice to be able to have such a close friend come back with her, she just hoped that Scorpius’ parents wouldn’t be upset with him, especially seeing as he was being treated with such kindness from another pack. The pup looked over to the black male as he took the place beside her and began to lick her muzzle. She couldn’t believe that he was licking her, even if it was just friendly. The girl smiled and licked him back on the muzzle. It was so nice to know he was such a close friend. She hoped she would be able to see him again in the future, but maybe more so towards his pack so that he didn’t get in trouble for wandering away, speaking of which, she looked up to Saul when he told her that he wouldn’t tell Gideon as long as she stayed inside the borders for a month. She whined and folded her ears down. ”But Uncle Saul! I like explowing out thewe! That’s not faiw!” At that point she didn’t care about if he told her father or not. She wanted to be able to go outside of the borders to see her new friends, especially Scorpius and Oak since those were the two she seemed to be the closest to. She shook her head to his idea and then turned her attention back to the black pup at her side.

Melee looked up to Saul as he was looking around and calling for someone. She looked around and didn’t really see anyone until the white wolf emerged from her hiding place. The pup could tell that she was not happy about Scorpius being away from home and away from her. She was so scary, even the anger in her voice was. She kept her ears down and lowered her body when she asked who it was that ‘took’ the male from her. She backed under her uncle so that the mother would not be able to see her. In all truth it wasn’t really her fault. Scorpius followed her back to Dahlia de Mai so she didn’t really force him to come. The girl looked over to the black pup, hoping he would be able to tell his mother that she was not the bad one here and that she would be able to forgive her for what she had done. Her tail curled in between her legs. She knew her uncle was right now about scarier things being outside of the borders, but she didn’t want to be away from her friends. She still wanted to see them too.

WC 763 - Whoo finally getting this thread moving again. ^_^ Eee laaahhv.

The pup relaxed a little knowing that Saul was going to help him find his way home, but then glanced at Melee when he mentioned taking her to bed first. His eyes rounded and he did his best puppy pout. “Does she have to go home first?” He trusted Saul now, but did not want to spend any extra time wandering the wilderness without his new, adventurous friend. “Maybe her poppa won't get up just yet.” Scorpius did not realize that even if Melee's family did sleep in, she would never be back in time to keep from getting caught. The trek to Anathema was a long one, and then there was the fact that he did not know how to tell Saul to get there, so it was bound to be even longer. Judging by the wide yawn the boy let out he probably was not going to be awake for much of the trip, anyway. His eyes watered a bit with the tiredness.

“That's not fair!” Scorpius jumped in just after Melee blurted back about her punishment. He hopped onto all four paws and stood next to her like a tiny rank of puppy soldiers. This was an injustice! They would band together and see it through! “That means it'll be a whole month or more 'til we can play again.” He snorted, disapproving of the idea. Little did he realize he was likely to receive the same sentence – or perhaps worse.

Just as he was about to open his maw and say something more in a feeble attempt to alleviate their plight, Saul alerted to something. Scorpius had been so wrapped up with worrying for Melee that he had not heard the sounds of someone approaching, plus he was a puppy and did not pay the same attention to his senses as his elders did. When Saul suddenly stiffened he jerked too, his spine going rigid and his eyes widening. He didn't know what was happening or where to look, so he glanced around them before settling on staring in the direction Saul did. He crouched low, belly rubbing on the snow powder beneath him, and again drew himself close to the russet puppy he had followed here. She was trying to make herself even smaller, shrink back and out of sight in the face of this threat, and suddenly Scorpius wanted to, too.

Yet all of his anxiety was quickly abolished when the angelic white form of his mother slipped through the foliage and into view. It was her! It was really her! Oh, she really was a wonder. Naniko was everything to the pup, as every mother should be, and always amazed him. It was like she knew and could do everything. She was not an unappreciated parent, as many were. When he was around her he could barely take his eyes off her, hoping to learn more from his goddess of a mother and gain her approval. Little did he realize how far out of her graces this little trip would cause him to fall.

“Momma!!” He blurted and lurched forward, running out from underneath Saul, abandoning Melee, and bounding up to Naniko meeting her with nuzzles and licks. He tried to bounce up to touch her nose but had to settle with worshiping her legs. His tail whipped in the air making little flurries. As he bounced back around beneath his mother's stride his eyes caught Saul's frightening stance and stopped him cold. His eyes went wide and he stared up at Saul in fright, his heart now pounding loudly in his ears out of fright instead of joy.

“S... S..” His eyes flicked towards Melee, who had made herself as small as possible now. Smaller than he ever thought she could look. She seemed so frightened, and he wanted to run over to her and comfort her. Become the puppy brigade again. But now he could not, because he could not bring himself to move towards Saul.

Finally he managed to find his voice, looking up at his mother while pleading with both she and Saul. “N-no! Stop! Please!” He was breathless with worry. He wanted to answer his mother's question so badly that he worded it all wrong. “I came here with her.” He gestured towards Melee. “I followed Melee here and we met Saul. He was going to help me find my way back home. Momma, I'm sorry, but I got lost. I tried to call for you but you didn't hear me.”

ooc;; erg, honey sucks! i am so sorry for the hold up!

Saul knew to expect the whines and moans from his niece. But he could honestly say that he didnt care. She was safer in Dahlia and she would stay in Dahlia if he had to be her personal escort until her period of grounding was over. And she would return to the house before Gideon awoke because if there was one thing he knew about Gideon, it was that he was a fretful father. It was because he loved them so much, but all his time and energy went into making those two happy and Saul would be damned if he caused his brother one moment of worry about the little female. So when she came out with it, his green eyes turned stern. However, before he could say anything the little black pup snuggled between his paws piped up. He was shocked that the boy had a backbone after the fear he had seen in the young pups ruby eyes. The shake of his head was given to both of them before he addressed them.

"I'm sorry Scorpius, but I'm putting my foot down now. Melee will go home now and I will take you back from where you came. And no Melee, its not fair. But it also wouldn't be fair to give your poor Daddy a heart attack now would it? I'm not going to tell him about this, but I will if you leave Dahlia again before I say its okay."

Were his soft but firm words to the to young pups. While there was no way he could be called threatening, there was a hardness to the young boys words that made it painfully obvious that he meant business. Of course, these words were given before the noice had alerted him to something not right. The two pups beneath his paws picked up on the tension in his body and Saul thought he detected fear in the little boys scent once more. The Lerhling didnt have time to worry about freaking the boy out- he was tense and watchful for thier own good. Melee moved backwards, her rump bumping into the front of his hind legs. She let Scorpius stand forward but he didnt have time to think on that now. A white form had barrelled from the underbrush.

Saul didn't have time to register what was going on. He knew there was a stranger in his territory and she certainly didnt belong there. Lifting his lips in return to her aggression Saul held his ground. He didnt growl however- the female seemed too worked up to be pushed that little bit further. Of course the little black pup wasn't his- Saul had no intention of keeping him. To show his bewilderment at the scene in front of him he gave a foreceful shake of his head. The little black pup comfirmed the relationship by shouting the words at the white female. He rushed forward and Saul wouldnt have dared make a move to stop him. He hugged his mothers legs and once again Saul watched this with bewilderment. He curled his body inward, protecting his niece who still remained underneath him. It was a safe place for her to be, by far.

"I assure you ma'am, none of us lured him here. He followed my niece from the neutral lands."

Came his firm answer and his green eyes snapped up to see equally emerald ones. She was lower in rank than him in his own territory and it was time he grew a backbone and acted like it. Eyes burned as he lowered his head, ears flickering back in a move to protect them from harm. His hackles raised and he allowed his lips to pull back to reveal clenched fangs. She would leave now, or he would attack her. His niece and his pack were in danger as far as he was concerned and that was unnacceptable. Green eyes could see the fear in little Scorpius' eyes but the pup was no longer the Lerhling's problem. His panicked voice however broke into the scene as he desperately tried to explain to his mother what had happened. Saul paused for a moment before he moved forward, hackles building his body image up to look bigger. He would have shifted if not for the concentration it took to do such a thing when he needed it all for this trespasser.

"You will leave these lands, now."

Saul stated simply, inwardly surprising himself at the threat in his voice. Of course, there was very little damage the Lerhling could do, despite Saluce's training in combat of the boy. But he could call Saluce and Conor here in moments and he was certain he could hold off any attack until that time. Still, with Melee still firmly between his legs Saul held still, waiting for the pale woman to either start moving or start talking.

Last post from me :] Nuki, if you don’t want her to push him then that’s fine by me ^^ I just made her try. wc: 724

What, did they think that she was there to hurt them? She wanted answers, but was a rational wolf; she knew that she was in foreign pack territory and that she had trespassed, an act that she herself would never condone under any other circumstances. Her emotions had taken control of her in her rush to follow her son and find him, and now that she had located the boy she was realizing what exactly she had done. She wasn’t here to hurt anyone or scare anyone….she just wanted her boy back and to know that he was safe. Naniko would have to punish him for what he had done on this day, but she wasn’t thinking about that quite yet. She had another situation right at hand.

He seemed happy enough to see her, nuzzling against her and shouting “mama” at her, but she wasn’t about to give him loving attention at this point in time. Especially not in front of others; such things were private to her, and she would have to teach the boy that as well as the other lessons that he would be learning when they got back home to Anathema. Such things wouldn’t be tolerated, running away after some foreign pup and going into other packs without telling her where he was going first. If he told her where he was and didn’t return, then she could go and look for him instead of following a scent trail and hoping that he wasn’t laying dead in a ditch somewhere.

”I didn’t hear you because you had gone so far away from the territory, boy. You could have been dead for all I know.” She said through clenched teeth, making a movement toward the boy, a disciplinary push to try and knock him over. ”You’re learning bad lessons from this pup and this pack; that is not acceptable behavior in Anathema, especially from the son of the alpha. You are to be the example.” He was the one pup that she was doing right by, teaching him the ways of the world and raising him with the discipline that she had been lacking as a child.

She assumed that the “Saul” that Scorpius had mentioned was this larger wolf, the one who was now showing a much different posture than before. She was a trespasser and he was acting accordingly, as she would were she in his situation. It seemed that she had surprised him with her sudden appearance, and now he was ready to defend his lands and the little girl-pup that sat between his paws. ”I came here for my son and I’ve got him; I have no desire to stay in these packlands any longer than I have to” She spat, her own hackles raising in an unconscious response to his active posture. She hadn’t attacked them, she’d only demanded an answer. Well, she’d found her answer.

”You, girl. You stay away from my pack and away from my son. You’ve corrupted him enough already. I better not find you around my borders.” Naniko said to the little girl, looking from her to Saul and then back down to Scorpius. He would have a long walk back home with her before they would reach Anathema, as the packs were pretty far apart. She didn’t know what his punishment for leaving the territory and going into another pack’s lands without telling her first would be, but it would be one that would stick in his mind, hopefully. Perhaps the silent treatment; the boy followed her almost everywhere she went when she was within range of the caves, usually very cheery and talkative, so that would be something that he would not enjoy, she thought.

”We’re leaving.” She needed to get out of there before the male chose to attack her and defend his territory. Naniko had made no move other than to try and push Scorpius, but a large foreign wolf like her could easily be deemed a threat. She didn’t know the lands very well but turned to walk in the direction from which she had come, guessing that to be the correct way to go. ”Come, Scorpius.” She called to him, jade eyes flashing over the forms of the other two wolves as she turned to make her way out of the Dahlia de Mai pack’s lands.

Melee could not believe how harsh Saul was being with her punishment. She did not want her dad to find out but she did not want to be separated from her friends for a whole month. ”You’we a meanie Uncle Saul. You just don’t want me to see any of my new fwiends.” She was not going to listen to him. She wanted to be able to see her friends whenever she wanted, even if that meant having to explain to Gideon why she was not in the pack lands a lot of the time. She was glad to hear that her new friend Scorpius was trying to stick up for her so that her uncle would not be so mean to her. She was not going to stand for it. ”Fine then, go ahead and tell Daddy. I want to be able to see my fwiends.” She then looked over to Scorpius and smiled, happy that she was sticking up for herself and for them in a way. She just wanted to have all the fun she could in her puphood. She was not about to let someone take that away from her. She wagged her tail and smiled to the black male, happy with the current mood.

Melee looked over to the white she wolf as she came closer. She was so scary looking and did not like seeing her around the pack lands. She watched as Scorpius ditched her and went over to the white she wolf. So she was his mother. She did not like the way she was talking to the pup. All she wanted to do was play with her new friend. Why was she being so harsh on the black male and her? She whined as she told her to stay away from the male. She did not want to listen to her. She moved away from the protection of her uncle and over towards Scorpius. She curled her tail under, obviously scared of the she wolf. She tried not to look at her as she looked to her friend. ”Scorpius… I.. I don’t want to lose you as a friend… will I get to be able to see you again…?” She whined more as she ventured closer to him, just wanting to give him a friendly lick before she had to see him go. She tried to lick him on the muzzle before she raced back to the safety of her uncle’s care. She knew it was not her fault that the black male was in trouble and it was not his fault either. She just wished his mom could understand that she was not such a bad wolf. The pup whined as she watched them leave the Dahlia de Mai pack lands. She hoped that when she was older she would be able to go back out towards his home and see her again.

Okay guys, so sorry, I know it's been a super long time... Life, oi! Just felt like this thread deserved a last post for Scorpius! :: 300+

He listened to his mother intently, his ears laying back and a sincere look of shame crossed his mien. The boy never wanted to do anything to disappoint or upset his mother, but it was clear that he had disappointed and angered her now. He tucked his tail and lowered his head, and so did not see when she moved to give him a shove. She caught him full on and he fell over in the snow with an oof! The gesture served to punctuate Naniko's point but did not hurt the pup any, short of driving her words deeper.

He turned his gaze to see Melee moving away from Saul. His eyes widened and he glanced between his mother and the Stormbringer. They were engaged in the customary push over territory, so he took that moment to leap to his paws and meet Melee in the middle. As she reached out to give his muzzle a lick, he stretched his neck to bump his nose gently on hers.

“I have to go home now, Melee, I can't stay here,” he said in a hushed whisper. “I... don't know when we'll see each other again.” Scorpius already knew that he had no plans of disobeying his mother ever again. “But we're still friends... forever.”

He jumped as Naniko called his name, and without further hesitation he turned and plodded after Naniko, tiny paws following his mother's large tracks in the snow. As he prepared to disappear through the brush he paused for just a beat, casting his deep ruby eyes over his shoulder to peer at his friend one last time. A profound sadness was laced within those jewel-like eyes, but despite it the pup flashed the Dahlians one last good-bye smile as if to say 'everything will be ok.' And then, following his mother, Scorpius disappeared into the woods.
