Hokay, because I'm only now getting the time to get this up, is it alright if we backdate this to December 7th? Otherwise, Bris will literally be on the verge of bursting at this far overdue, lol! Also, this is open to all members of Dahlia de Mai, since Bris considers them all her family and trusts every single one. My only request is that Libri be able to reply with Conor first! Big Grin And Krisluff, I wasn't sure if you'd like for NayNay to already be there helping Bris out with the birth (I'll admit I'd like that a lot XD) so I didn't mention it, but feel free to! I'm thinking that Nayru and Conor would be the only ones in the room during the event, and everyone else would be allowed in after if they want to! Wink Good lord this OOC part was rambly. <.< Librifluff, if you mind the slight pp, let me know and I'll edit it!

The time had come, and Bris was scared to death of what exactly that meant. Earlier in the day, the white Dahlian had realized that the life that had been growing inside of her womb was now ready to greet the world, and she'd walled herself up in the comfort of her second-floor bedroom. With a little help, the mother-to-be had arranged the room into a comfortable, cozy stage for the birth of hers and Conor's children, and now it was happening. Bris lay on her side on the large, queen-sized bed that took up one side of the room. It seemed the most natural position for what was about to occur, and all she could do was concentrate on keeping the labor pains under control.

The suffering was bearable, because Bris knew what the pain meant. Soon, very soon, the white woman and the tan alpha of Dahlia de Mai would be able to greet their children and welcome them into their extended family. Though she'd remained reserved and withdrawn for most of her pregnancy, the Stormbringer was fairly certain that most of the members she was close to knew by now just what was going on in the second-story room in the alpha's large Victorian home, but she also knew that each would keep their distance until they were invited near. Bris' heart pounded against her chest as another pain took her, but she raised her eyes calmly to Conor as it passed. Bris was terrified, even though she knew that wolves had been having children long before her own birth, but she had no doubt that the father of her children was even more frightened than she. After all, fear had been his first reaction at the news of the white woman's pregnancy. Yet Bris knew in her heart that Conor's fear would pass with time, and she was willing to help him and support him in every possible way until the Packmother called them home.

Bris smiled softly as she watched Conor. "The way you're acting, you'd think you were the one birthing them!" Her last word was cut off as another pain lanced through her, this time accompanied by a very different feeling. It took less time than Bris would have thought, and the first of the alpha's litter was out and sucking air into her tiny, newborn lungs. There were blankets scattered about the bed for the puppies' arrival, and the new mother grabbed one and quickly cleaned and wrapped the baby girl warmly. The tiny pup's heart beat strongly against her chest, and she was already mewing for her first taste of the world. Tears streamed down Bris' cheeks as she beamed at Conor. The pup was a seemingly perfect blending of both parents, her now-clean coat a creamy white touched by heavy accents of mocha. "Look Conor, isn't she gorgeous? And she's ours. I think it should be you who names her."

Eternity hung for a few moments as Bris marveled at the miracle in her arms. She had been there for the birth of Kol's and Elliot's children, but it had been different. Her nieces and nephew had been stillborn, a tragic, common occurrence back among the Stormbringer clan in the midst of war as they'd been. Bris and Conor were lucky, and the young mother knew it. Yet almost on cue, another pain seared through the white woman's belly, and the second tiny form entered the world. Passing the firstborn girl to Conor, Bris reached for another blanket and scooped up the new puppy, but it was obvious from the beginning that something was wrong. Where the first girl had been active and hungry in her first motions, this newborn was limp and silent. The mother's smile faded to sorrow, and she felt new tears burn her eyes as she tried to warm life into her second child. The tiny girl gave no sign that she felt her mother's touch, and Bris knew in her heart that she was trying in vain. The tiny bundle of mottled browns and creams had never drawn a breath, and the Stormbringer's heart sank. The cold logic that such a loss was a common part of such things did nothing to help her overcome the sense of failure that gripped her heart. "Conor...I'm sorry..." The woman's mismatched eyes were glassy with tears as she regarded her beloved's face. Oblivious to the loss of her sister, the eldest of the two pups mewed and whined in her father's arms, utterly perplexed as to why her first breakfast was being denied her.

It was time, and no one was as frightened as Conor right now. He did his best to cover this up and let the mask of calm obscure the emotions that wanted to flood onto his face, but knew that Bris could see through with ease. How was it that he had such a difficult time without actually doing anything? Perhaps that was what was so excruciating; there was nothing he could do for the woman. There were certain medicines designed to ease pain, but he would not risk anything to hurt the children or the female in the process. The birth would take its toll on all parts and he refused to do anything that could jeopardize anything the slightest. He had attempted to boil up some tea to help the Stormbringer woman relax some, but was not sure if she had been able to get anything down. He wished he had made himself a cup as well.

A soft smile was brought to his lips as the pale lady commented on his act. Was it really that obvious? Probably, but he couldn’t help it. As the woman’s pain cut her off, his hand stroke her hair, soft as silk. ”You’re doing great—“ He knew in theory what this was, though he had never witnessed a birth before. Instead of focusing on tasks of the healer, he found himself draw back slightly instead. It was happening, right now! His heart rate beat through the roof and gave everything an unrealistic sheen. Bris seemed to know what she was doing though, and he gave her space to do what she pleased.

And then, a sound.

Lilac dared to search for the source of the soft, helpless sound. The Soul male felt out of breath as he gazed down on the little creature wrapped in cloth against its mother’s chest. Ears perked forward in wonder, for the little soul was so small. Only barely did he register Bris’ words. It was a girl and it was theirs. Breath seemed caught in his throat, and he wasn’t sure if he would be able to answer her at first. Shifting slightly so that he could get closer to the two, his eyes were glued to the little mewling thing. His daughter. He had a daughter! Something grew inside his chest; something much too large for his heart to hold alone. ”Eclipse Soulstorm.” He wanted to reach out for it, but the small thing seemed so fragile.

Conor could have remained speechless and lost in his little bubble of joy for several more moments, but now the girl was given to him and he wrapped the puppy and the blanket in his arms, terrified of losing her. Lavender managed to move from the first Soulstorm to see another child be brought into this world, though there was no breath of life. Again, the healer in the male should have leaped forth then to see if it could be saved, but he knew that there was no hope. There was no life to save. The tears flooding his beloved’s face were no longer those of joy. Conor’s eyes remained dry, but he felt it too. The loss.

Carefully wrapping an arm around the Stormbringer’s slender frame, he hugged her gently. ”There was nothing you could do. It’s not your fault.” Sometimes these things happened, and though he could feel his happiness shatter, he knew that they had another daughter, alive and squirming in his arms. Bris had done enough for now. Very carefully, the man handed the living child over to its mother before gently wrapping a blanket around the stillborn’s cooling form. They would grieve for this child, but right now it was important for her to acknowledge the survivor.

Weee Jassy, I'd like to think Nayru was there for Bris too <3 so yeah. 613.

They never had really out right spoken about any of it, they hadn't needed to. Ever the ghost of their family Nayru knew without words, knew what went on in their lives without living with them. Nayru had of course been in and out of the Victorian house, not as much as she once had, but enough to keep her in the loop. They did not have to tell her what happened in their lives, she saw it as she came and went, taking in every tiny detail about those she loved most. She saw the affection blossoming between Conor and Bris, she saw the thickening middle of Bris, the development of Range and Melee and Gideon. Always Gideon was there, and so long as he was there nothing that happened in the Victorian house could rock Nayru. Yet it was not he who had been on Nayru's mind more and more, as she stayed mostly isolated in her green house far on the east of Dahlia. Bris time was near, the woman's own actions the couple days prior and all the books Nayru had read on the subject told her so.

Without being asked or told Nayru spent the last few nights keeping a vigil over the house, her presence had not been questioned by anyone and she spent time talking with Gideon, watching Melee and Range live their lives, or napping in Gideon's room during the day when others were surely up and about. Sometimes she would linger by Bris and tell the woman about all the plants that Nayru was growing in her greenhouse, although she mentioned she didn't know how to use them for food or medicine, or she told her about her recent trip to Crimson Dreams, and the meeting with Ghita. Mostly though Nayru kept to herself, reading through the stacks of books and simply existing alongside the others, as if she lived there still. When the time finally came, a few days after Nayru had showed up again, she was there alongside her Alpha and Theta, a silent presence as ever, ruby eyes watching over the whole proceeding.

When there was a need she filled it, fetching water for Conor or gathering clean blankets for Bris. When they spoke to her she answered in her soft whispers, her words warm and kind and encouraging but only when provoked. And when the children finally came Nayru stood back, knowing that there was nothing for her to do and everything for her to see. Conor's face lined with worry and Bris's which contorted in pain at times, the squalling child covered in slime from Bris's inside and then the silent one. For a long time Nayru's gaze stayed on that child's face, her heart hammering harder then than it had at any other point, despite her concern for Bris or Conor. How unfair it all seemed, one child got to enter the world and the other didn't. Who chose? Or was it just chance? Nayru understood death better now than when she had first arrived in Dahlia de Mai. However, she understood it only in terms of choice, she could choose what to kill and what to let live. There hadn't been a choice here. There hadn't been a reason.

Yet as Conor swapped living for dead, Nayru moved to the side of Bris, her gentle lips pulling back in a easy smile. She did not let her gaze follow the male to see where he placed the stillborn, nor did she let her mind wonder about it. “Hello little Eclipse.” Her soft voice barely louder than Bris's breath, her long fingers resting gently on Bris's arm.

BABYYYYY~~

He had been pretty anxious about the arrival of Bris' litter. Gideon had never been around a mother wolf giving birth and didn't want to be; as soon as he had been given notice that they were about to arrive he had abruptly left the room, giving them their privacy. He was happy that more lives were coming into the world, more pups for him to help look over and watch, more members of the pack, more family. But he couldn't help but wonder what Melee and Range's reactions to the new arrivals would be.

It wasn't that he thought that the pups would be jealous...he believed them to be old enough to understand that. It was all the questions that he was worried about. Where did the pups come from? How were they made? Where had Melee and Range come from? Where was their mother? He had been hoping to avoid all of those questions.

He paced outside the door, brows knitted together. Hopefully everything was going well in there. He wrung his hands together anxiously and stopped his pacing when things seemed to have quieted down, knocking gently at the door. Gideon didn't want to disturb them during this time, but he wondered about Aunt Bris' health and whether everything was over with so he could come in.

ooc;; saul is NOT late! ^^

Saul had been unable to be in the room in the first place, let alone remove himself after his Aunt started pushing. Gideon had been in there for a while but as soon as Bris's whines and groans had grown in volume and there was movement inside, the dark male had joined Saul outside in the hallway. This was obviously a very stressful time for both his aunt and his leader and Saul didnt fancy being in the way all that much. Perhaps it was because Gideon had been here longer and was closer to Bris than Saul himself but his younger brother had been unable to be inside the room when the white woman was still contracting.

Green eyes watched his brother pace up and down from his vantage point on the floor. He knew Nayru was in there, as well as Conor. He had no idea where Ascher was- perhaps he was entertaining Melee and Range as he was nowhere in sight either. Saul watched his brother ringing his hands and a smile graced his lips. Anyone would have thought that they were his pups being delivered in there. Keen ears could hear when the first of his cousins was born and a large grin caught his lips when a soft mewling could be heard from inside. A few words had been said between Bris and Conor but he hadnt been paying enough attention to pick out what they'd said to each other. Now all his senses were trained on that beautiful sound.

It apparently wasnt over yet however and Saul listened as the signs of his aunt giving birth to another cousin reached them. However, it was obvious that something was wrong. The profound silence radiating from the room was deadly, even after he heard his aunts voice and the answering rumble of Conor. There was something wrong with the second born and Saul was not a idiotic as he looked. He knew that it had been stillborn, but that didnt make the sadness go away. He had one cousin, but he had also lost one. He didnt know what his aunt and Conor were going through right now but he could certainly sympathise. Green eyes shot up as Gideon moved towards the door, a short knock the only words either of them could say. Clambering to his feet Saul stood behind his brother, hands clenching at his sides. He wanted to see his aunt, make sure she was okay.
