ooc: This should be either the day of the fight, or the day after. Thornbury, Orin's shop is the location.

It was time to figure out where the hell he was. Why was he here every time he woke up from being Mars? Why was Mars into the place so much, and why the hell didn't Mars smell of the Court anymore? Bartholomew had been confused as to why everything smelt different and why he was in a different place, but in the same place everytime he woke up. Mars had not explained to Bartholomew that he was moving, and Bartholomew had not been around the whole night that Orin and Mars had gotten together and Mars had decided that he would make his home right next door to where Orin lived. Orin had been one of Mars' only friends, so he had wanted to stay close, you could say, that and well....D'Arte seemed to be the right place for Mars to be at. The court was nice and all, but the ranks were just not for him. There was no reason for him to better himself in the pack since all of his skills were not of use to the Court. Least the ones he wanted to be known for. He didn't want to be known as something he was not really interested in, you know? Anyways, this was all information that Bartholomew was clueless about because these were pieces of information that were stuck within the closed door that lead from Bartholomew's brain into Mars' brain.

Bartholomew looked around the shop that was Mars' house now. He looked around it, grimacing as he did look around. He didn't like the place that Mars picked out, but then again, it was just because Bartholomew had nothing to do with the choice. Bartholomew would be the one involved in decorating, this was a given fact that all would become aware of if anyone ever caught onto the fact that there was Mars, and then a separate entity known as Bartholomew. Bart had walked through the smaller house/store that had little things in it still. Bartholomew would figure out what to do later, but for now, he just needed to get out of this place. He was quick to walk out of the store door and he looked around the front yard. He wondered where Vox was. He could care less about the sheep, for it wasn't his. He did like to look at it sometimes though, and he probably would look for it later, and secretly. He'd never touch it, or go near it, even when it tried to come near him for attention. Bart was cold enough to always walk away before the sheep had a chance to get too close.

Bartholomew stepped off the porch and started to walk to the left, trying to find a way out of here before he had walked straight to his neighbor's house, or store. Whatever it was. He looked up at it for a minute or so, long enough for the sheep to make it's way over to Bartholomew without him realizing. When it got up to him, it pushed it's head into Bart's hand. Bart quickly pulled his hand away, and gave the sheep a surprised look. The sheep batted an ear and then gave Bart a 'baa'. Bart walked away from the sheep without even a thought and he moved to go into the bookstore. Bart opened the door and walked in, the damn black sheep following behind rather obediently. Is anyone here? Bartholomew called out, wondering if anyone was here...

Orin had hardly set foot outside of her bookstore since the fight with Sky. It wasn't that she was afraid... Or at least, not afraid of Sky. She had seen it in the woman's eyes, that moment when the hate melted out of her and she realized how childish they were acting. But the fight and the events surrounding it had led to Orin's great embarrassment, the emotional woman was traumatized by it and had delved into a depression fraught with worry and anxiety. She did not want anyone to come see her, and for the first day had barricaded the entrances to her bookstore so she would not have to talk to anyone. She sent everyone away, refusing to open the doors. But her fortitude and commitment to loneliness did not last long, and the next day she had moved the blockades.

Now she sat in her room upstairs, perched upon the cot that served as her bed during the winter until she could find or make a better one. Several books lay strewn about her, all dropped in a moment of frustration and the woman had not bothered to pick them back up. She was not reading now for she could not concentrate. When all was said and done, she was already getting cabin fever. But she wanted to be stubborn, she wanted everyone to know that something was wrong and that she was upset with the world.

With a flustered sigh the woman stood up and moved to her window and opened the shutters. She looked out at the shopping square, littered in glistening snow. Yep, it still looked just like she remembered it; nothing much changed in the hours she had locked herself up. Her ears twitched when she heard a peculiar bleating sound, and her eyes followed the noise. There she spotted her friend Mars being nudged by a wooly stock animal, and then reeling from it, snubbing the friendly creature and walking away. Walking toward her store.

She told herself she did not want any visitors, but of course she had been lying. She especially would not be banishing her friend Mars. She quickly moved over to the wall mirror and checked herself. Yes, she looked as awful as she felt. Her fur was disheveled, but at least her mane was a permanent dread-lock mess and could not look any “worse”. Mars's voice echoed up the stairwell, muted by the closed door. She turned around and looked at her shoulder in the mirror, the blood clots dark now. She still needed to treat the scratches but did not have medical supplies here, and they were not in a place she could reach even in Lupus form. She brushed at them but the clots weren't going anywhere, and she became more concerned with the footsteps below.

She moved to the doorway, opened the bedroom door and descended halfway down the staircase. “Mars,” she breathed as if in relief, though she had known it was him already. “I'm glad you're here. You won't believe what happened... Actually, you probably already know, don't you?”

Her eyebrows pinched together with worry. The gossip had certainly spread through the pack like wildfire by now.

OOC:

A door opened. The sheep bleated behind Bartholomew, who snapped around and looked at the sheep like it had offended him or something and then he shook his head and gave the sheep another, less offended look. It was a look of disapproval, but there was nothing he could do about it because someone addressed Mars. Bartholomew cocked his head and then shook it. It's Bartholomew. the man corrected the woman as if she had said his name wrong or something. The thing about it was that the woman did not know that Mars was two people. It would be easily seen if one would notice that Bartholomew was more happy looking, more energetic looking. He looked like things were going to happen, and they were gonna happen soon. Bartholomew played no games. Bartholomew thought briefly about leaving since the woman knew Mars and would think that he was Mars, but then he decided that he might wanna see what kind of relationship Mars had with this woman. She talked to him, saying she was glad he was here and that she had something to tell him, but then she asked if he had already heard of whatever had happened. Bartholomew knew Mars well enough to figure that Mars didn't know about whatever happened, and Bartholomew obviously did not know what happened, so Bart shook his head. Nah, I haven't heard about what's been up. even the way the two spoke was different. They both had the same voice, one was louder, and the other was calmer with a different word choice from what Bartholomew would choose to speak.

Obviously something had happened, considering that the woman was happy that she was going to get some comfort, or at least she thought she was going to. Bartholomew wanted to know where Mars stood with this woman simply because Mars had weird relationships with people when he was close to people. Bartholomew was obsessed with fucking over relationships of Mars'. It was funny to see Mars' reactions sometimes. He didn't do it too often now, but he liked to fuck up relationships of Mars that Bartholomew didn't get along with. Bart was a likable person so he didn't have too many people that he didn't like either. Axel bleated again at Bartholomew, and Bart let his steel eyes sit on the sheep for a few seconds. What happened, chickadee? the man asked the woman as his eyes rose to meet her own golden ones. She would see the difference in the gaze of the two, for Mars was an icy wall while Bart was a warm bed. They were polar opposites who lived right along in the same body. It was obvious why Mars never had close friends. He could never keep Bartholomew under wraps for long enough and then when others met Bartholomew, they seemed to act differently all the time. They never tried to figure out what was wrong with him, not did they ever want to deal with asking if it was Bartholomew or Mars all the time, or having to figure it out themselves.

Axel nudged Bart's thigh, and Bart, again, looked down at the sheep and then gave a hard look to it. Hey, do you know why this sheep keeps followin' me? Bartholomew asked the woman, cocking his head to her and looking up at her at the top of the stairs. He didn't even know who this woman was. He didn't even think to ask yet. He pointed his ivory finger at the black sheep, as if he didn't even know that it belonged to Mars.

Something was amiss and perhaps if the Takekuro girl was less distraught over her own dilemma she may have noticed... but she did not. Orin was often lost in her own little world, hardly in tune with anything happening around her unless it was of emotional significance to her or her friends. At the moment the significance lay in the fact that she thought the whole pack was gossiping about her. Mars was acting a little strange, but Mars always acted a little strange, so there were no particular notes for Orin to key in on.

She glanced from the man to the sheep that stood in the doorway and cocked her head in slight confusion. Orin had never met Mars's pet before but had heard slight mention about the thing. She smiled softly, though it was not the overly indulgent grin she normally would have given to such an occasion. Still, Mars was bringing his sheep over to meet her and she did not want to be rude, so she descended the rest of the stairs and slipped across the open floor to the animal that stood in the doorway. She smiled softly and reached out to the little black sheep, laying her hand on its head and petting it a few times.

“Hello Bartholomew,” she crooned to the animal. “It's nice to meet a friend of Mars.” She chuckled softly. It was a small laugh but at least it was a genuine one and made her feel a little better. She turned her gaze back to Mars and the sheep nudged her hand, so she began petting it over again. “Did you bring him over to make me feel better? He is awfully cute.”

Oh, or perhaps he was just bringing the animal over to meet her for fun, since he said he had not heard. She found it somewhat difficult to believe since everyone must have been talking about the scandal. But then again, Mars wasn't exactly a social butterfly or anything...

“Oh, well,” she moved away from the sheep and started as though she was going to begin the story, then suddenly stopped. Well, what sense did that make? She was so upset because she thought people were talking about it, and here she found someone who was not talking about it, so she was about to make him start! That was ridiculous. In the confusion of her revelation, she just stood there blank for a moment. Mars had just asked her what happened, though, and she could use an ear right now. She was stuck between telling him, and keeping quiet about the incident. She probably would not keep quiet for long.

While she considered it, the sheep bleated again and Mars asked her something about it. Her face screwed up into pure bewilderment. What was he talking about? Why was the sheep following him? Well, he brought it here. “Don't you want it to follow you, Mars? I know you still needed to build it a stable but if you don't want it to follow you I'm sure there's some rope in one of the shops here. You could tether it up outside your house.”

She turned her gaze back to the sheep that bleated again. “It's probably hungry. Things follow their masters around when they're hungry. I don't have anything for it though... ate my last apple last night. Oh, oh no...” The sheep started to step forward and Orin put herself in front of it. “Bartholomew, I like you enough and all, but you can't come in here unless you're house trained.” She glanced over her shoulder at Mars and cocked a grin. “Unless you feel like cleaning it up if he has an accident.”

OOC: this is hilarious. xDD

The woman would descend the staircase, Bartholomew watching the graceful movement of the emotional wreck of a woman. She didn't seem like she was too distraught, but her energy was not too happy and it was rather depressed. Bartholomew found it to be too gloomy for him really, and he tried to think of something that might make this woman happy. Maybe Mars would let him have some sort of piece of information about the woman. She went over to the sheep and started to pet it, cooed at it and everything, calling it Bartholomew. Bart smacked his forehead and then tried to get the woman to look back up at him by stepping towards her and motioning his hand upward towards his face. She called him Mars again, and she had asked him if he had brought the sheep over for her to see. Bart shook his head. Tha' sheep isn't mine. An' mah name is Bartholomew, not tha' sheeps name. Bartholomew spoke to the woman, whose name he did not know. Apparently Mars knew her though, that was pretty much all he knew about the woman.

She acted like she was going to tell him what was up for a moment, but then she stopped herself, and just stared at him for a moment. Bartholomew stood there rather dumbly as she thought about whatever she was thinking about. She stopped without saying anything about what had happened and instead, when he had asked what the sheep would have been doing following him, she called him Mars again and then she had offered a solution as to what to do about the sheep following him. Bartholomew shrugged. The sheep then tried to come inside of the house, and Orin had put herself in between himself and the sheep and the door. I'm Bartholomew, the sheep has a different name... Bartholomew corrected the woman again, telling her again that his name was Bart and the sheep, as far as he knew was nameless, but he was sure that Mars had some stupid ass name just like he had a name for Vox. Bartholomew couldn't even remember what Lyndi used to call the poor bastard before Mars had come up with the name Vox. Bartholomew knew what Vox meant, and it did make sense when it came to the personality of the steed, but still, Bartholomew didn't like the name. The woman told him that it might be hungry and that was a reason it would be following him, and he looked at the sheep and then thought about if Mars might have anything to feed it. Chances are that he did since it was apparently owned by the wolfdog. Bart rubbed his chin and frowned lightly at the woman. She tried to push the sheep out, and successfully blocked it's path, so it looked up at her an bleated at her.

Bartholomew then took it upon himself to walk over and push the sheep back outside enough to where they could close the door, and this is what had happened. When that was over, Bartholomew stood up straight and he had looked the woman straight in the eye. Bartholomew realized how much smaller she was compared to him at this moment in time. He was close enough to hug her if he was to hold out his arms for her, but of course, he did not do so, seeing as the timing would be inappropriate. What happened tha' ya' needed to tell meh? Bartholomew asked, cocking his head, a small smile cocked on his face. He looked so much different than Mars, but oh-so the same.

ooc... How does time fly away so fast? I can't believe it's been 5ish days since my last post. *dies* OMG I love this thread. haha Poor Bart and his bad timing. WC 767

The cloud-colored Luperci woman shuffled and busied herself as her friend Mars worked to shoo the sheep out of the bookstore and close the door, trying to provide aid. First she tried to help push the animal, but was little help as it just pushed it's weight into her, so she moved herself out of the way and stood poised at the door, helping to swing the wooden barricade closed before the sheep could muscle its way back in. Orin hadn't thought about much while worrying about the sheep and so much of what Mars said went in one ear and right out the other until the animal was securely outside, along with its potentially messy nether regions. At least she wouldn't have to be providing any of her blankets for a quick clean up today.

She glanced out of the window pane and looked at the sheep that now stood looking terribly sad and lonely on her small porch. For a moment she felt sorry for the creature stuck out there alone and in the snow. At least it wasn't snowing at the moment. Still, as it's hooves tromped their hollow sound on the boards as the sheep moved and it put its nightshade face in the window and let out a muted bleat, its breath fogging the glass, she considered letting it back inside. Then she frowned. Maybe a normal Orin would let the critter back in and take an accident in stride, but not today, not this Orin. She suddenly felt the urge to open the door with broom in hand and run it off, then frowned deeper at the streak of meanness in her. Needless to say she didn't act on the feeling, yet seemed more dejected after it passed.

Her golden eyes flicked back to her friend's duo-tone countenance and studied his face for a moment. Something was different about him... something had changed in his features, yet his face was still so the same. It was his eyes, she thought. Something was wrong with his eyes... Maybe not wrong, but different. Come to think of it, he didn't really sound like her friend, either. Was he sick?

“Are you feeling alright?” She questioned lightly, her mind mulling over the quick minute or two that had passed since his arrival. She tried not to think about the sheep outside but upon hearing another muffled noise she glanced out the window again. Suddenly, it clicked, and she jerked a fiery gaze back to Mars.

“What do you mean you're Bartholomew, Mars?” The words slipped out, venom on her tongue. Although normally wistful and dreamy, Orin had a temper, and in her current state it was short. She was close to the man, close enough to bump up against if either of them took a step forward, so her hand darted out and poked him in the chest.

What kind of disgusting prank was this? Of course he had heard the rumors, and now he must have been here to make fun of the poor dumb girl. He was friend turned tormentor now that the cat was out of the bag, now that the pack must have been alight with the gossip about the loose Takekuro woman and her consequent beat down by the singer. It wasn't fair! Suddenly every last friend she had in the world had been nuked. Transformed, mutated into scourges that would not let her forget her humiliation. What's more, not only was he here playing some horrible joke on her... what with the sheep and the name and the funny looks he gave, but he was trying to goad her into retelling the story, too!

Her lip quivered at the mercy of the sudden anger and sadness that staked her heart. She felt the tang of tears as they welled up in her eyes. “This is... this is... you JERK!” She shouted at him, a treasonous tear rolling out of the corner of her eye. “Are you trying to be funny? I guess I misjudged you, Mars. Looks like I've been doing a lot of that lately! Go ahead, make fun of me! I don't care anymore.” She spun around and stalked a few paces away from him, ignoring curious the sheep that tried to tag along on the other side of the wall. Her head was low and she was trying to hold back the tears that wanted to fall. This man was here to tease her and the last thing she wanted to do was give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry.

OOC: I actually say that Orin is lucky that Bart is here and not Mars. Mars is weird when it comes to comforting people. (aka He doesn't know how to comfort people), also hope you don't mind a hug from bart (meaning there is a small amount of pp) and yuh, this thread is cute Big Grin

We made plans to grow old,
believe me there was truth in all those stories that I told.

Bartholomew watched Orin watch Axel outside of the window. The woman seemed to not really hear him when he spoke about not being this "Mars" person that he knew, but he denied that he knew often. He would be straight forward with Mars' friends and let them know that he was Bartholomew, not Mars. Couldn't they see that he was not Mars, and he was Bartholomew? Bart did try his hardest to look and speak different than Mars. Bartholomew waited for the woman to finally get it, to realize that he was not Mars, and was Bartholomew, a completely different being. Her first question when she turned back to him, looking at him, looking into his soul or something. Bartholomew had more substance behind his eyes, on his face than Mars. Bart was more happy, more outgoing, more animated. Mars was duller, sadder, more emotionless. She asked him if he was feeling alright. Bartholomew nodded his head. Yeah, I feel fine. T'day has been treating meh pretty good. the man spoke to her, nodding his head still. He would then notice how close the two were to each other, pretty much in each other's bubbles, like they were close like that.

She looked back at the sheep, away from him, before her golden gaze would return to Bartholomew, fire there. Bartholomew was rather uncomfortable with her looking at him like that, but he did not move, rather he did flinch. Another difference in the two would be the reaction to anger. Mars had no reaction, Bartholomew knew when trouble was a brewin' and he was sensitive to it. Orin finally asked Bartholomew what he meant that he was Bartholomew and not Mars. Bart couldn't help but tilt his head. Meh name is't Mars. Meh name is Bartholomew..Simple as th't. the man spoke, his tone as calm as he could make it without sounding too much like Mars when he spoke. He also had a kinder tone than the icy Mars did. She poked him in the chest, rather hard too, and he looked down at her finger that was touching his circle tattoo on his chest. She poked right in the middle of the circle. Bartholomew let those steel eyes of his fall back on the woman, tracing up her arm and going to her face shortly after he glanced to her shoulder, chest and the neck and then face. Bartholomew cocked his head when the woman would start to look even more and more angry. Bartholomew was confused, not knowing what to do at first. She then burst out with calling him a jerk, and then saying some other stuff about how she misjudged Mars and that she didn't care if he made fun of her. Bartholomew let his jaw drop slightly. First off, I have no clue what you are talking about. the man spoke at first before he had taken the woman's hand that was swinging away from him, her trying to put distance between the two. Bartholomew wouldn't let that happen. He grabbed her and strongly pulled her back. He twisted them to where they would be hugging, Orin against his chest, and him giving a big hug to her. It would be different feeling than the other hug she had received from Mars, but he hoped to dear god that this sill somewhat calm her.

I have no reason to make fun of you, M'lady. Bartholomew spoke, realizing then that he did not know this broad's name. Mars had yet to tell him anything. I'm not who ya' think I am. I'm not Mars. I'm Bartholomew. Believe me. If I was Mars, then I'd probably know what ya' were talking about. Or maybe not, I dunno. All I know is tha' I have nah clue what ya' are talkin' about. the man spoke, letting his head tilt down a little bit to look at the ivory woman. He noticed something under his fingers though when he had touched her, not only just her matted fur, but little clusters of blood. Bartholomew cocked his head slightly. What happened ta' ya'? Yer're hurt... the man asked, voice kind, unlike Mars' ever really was. Bartholomew pulled back from the woman for a moment and looked at the scratches on her. Ya' should clean these up. Don't want them to get infected. the man proposed the idea to the woman.

OOChehe I'm determined to use a different table every post. ^_^ wc 777

A little squeaky sound of surprise bounced from her throat as Bartholomew caught her hand when she tried to retreat, and in a somewhat dancer worthy move pulled her back to him and caught her up in an embrace. She was stiff for a moment, caught off guard, her eyes wide and a dumbfounded expression wrought on her visage. But the embrace was the perfect salve to her aching soul and it did not take long for the woman to relax in Bartholomew's arms, nearly melting into him and hugging him right back. There was something different about this hug, though, and now with Bartholomew comforting her and muttering into her ears the veil over her eyes began to lift and she started to understand, albeit slowly. Maybe he wasn't making fun of her. But... if not... then what happened to Mars? This was mars. This was his body, his smell, but not his voice, not his eyes. What had happened to her friend? Had he been hurt? Suddenly she recalled several stories in which someone bumped their head and woke up with amnesia, or thinking they were somebody else entirely. Had Mars hit his head?

It didn't matter, she was incapable of addressing in her current state. Her small, tense body softened in Bartholomew's arms and she leaned into him, letting her head rest on his chest and trying to calm the tears that now trailed through the fuzz on her cheeks. Everything was happening so fast Orin could hardly keep up with it all. She was going to press the obvious matter further when Bartholomew's hand brushed over the scratches on her shoulder. She winced slightly. They were still tender and not healing as quickly as they should have. For a moment she forgot herself and explained.

“This crazy bitch attacked me,” she muttered to Bartholomew's chest. “Her name is Sky Katruk. Do you know her? She actually lives just across the way there. I was cleaning up my bookstore some more and doing some chores when she called me over and just... went crazy. She attacked me while my back was turned and shoved me into the snow, trapping me beneath her. I didn't even see her begin the shift but she changed to Secui to fight me in my Optime form. I couldn't get out from under that weight and she scratched up my back. I only managed to get away thanks to a lucky hit.”

She sighed with the horrible memories, but despite retelling the traumatic story her sobbing and tears had calmed. Her eyes were not producing any new salty little droplets though she did look funny in her after-crying glory. Her cheeks were wet with the tears, and she wriggled an arm free to wipe at them.

There was part of the story she did not divulge, but not because she did not want Mars or Bartholomew or whoever he was to know it. She just simply had not gotten that far yet. All she cared about was complaining about the fight, not why it started to begin with. But it was likely that if Bartholomew wanted to know more details, he would ask.

She paused for a moment, then turned her eyes to meet his... those stranger eyes set within the familiar face. Now all ire was gone and she looked at him with budding curiosity. She did not understand. “Why are you not Mars?” She asked gently. Unbeknownst to her she had accepted the fact that the man was not who she thought he was… or at least that the man did not think he was who Orin thought he was... His mannerisms and stance were so different. The eyes were not Mars's at all. And again, he spoke far more differently than the man Orin had known. And when she truly opened her mind and paid attention to her deeper senses, the ones she could not describe in language yet that had always been there since before her kind had become Luperci, she sensed that the entity here was different than the one that belonged to this body. As though there was a second soul roaming around in Mars. And for some reason – possibly because of the comfort he was providing now - this did not scare her. In all of this she made no movement to break off the comforting embrace.

“You look like him... mostly. You smell like him. You're even dressed in his clothes. And his pet is following you around,” she made a small gesture to the sheep that stared dumbly into the window, now licking the glass.

OOC: Big Grin ; this table has the lyrics to the song that this thread is named after..Tongue

It only would take the woman moments to melt within the arms of Bartholomew Cubbins. The more sensitive to emotions, the more social of the two had successfully calmed the woman, even though he could feel a wetness against his chest where there were tears running down the woman's face. Bart felt bad for the woman, and wanted to know what had happened to make her like this. Obviously, this would not be the normal her, simply because the woman didn't seem like the type to be like this all the time. Something had happened and because of it, the woman had been distressed and almost stormed off without telling Bart, or Mars the story about what the hell was going on. It'd take her another moment to decide to tell him what happened to her shoulders, and back. Bartholomew listened closely, the woman telling him that another woman had attacked her. There had to be a reason though, for Bartholomew figured that attacking someone would result in some sort of punishment from the pack. There was no one crazy enough to just attack someone out of random. Only he was that crazy he believed even though he knew close to none of the pack members. Nah, I dun't personally know 'er. the man spoke to the woman. Mars knew who Sky was, but not Bartholomew. I haven't met anyone in this pack. I dun' even know you. the man spoke, telling her that he didn't even know who she was. It was true, Bartholomew didn't know Orin. Only Mars did. What did ya' do ta' 'er to make 'er all bat-shit crazy bitchface? Bartholomew asked, a smile pulling on his face, one that was actually a real smile, unlike Mars' fake ones.

The woman then turned to look up at him, her eyes meeting his icy steel ones that would peer straight back at her, and into those golden coins that were her eyes. The woman asked him why he was not Mars. Bartholomew cocked a brow at the woman. The differences between the two were something that others would have to notice, but just by outward looks, it was hard. Bartholomew did walk around in Mars' clothes, but, their body positions were different, as well as their speech, and then they also had different things that they carried around and different views on Mars' livestock. Because I'm Bartholomew. Mars doesn't do tha' same things tha' I do. the man explained, shrugging his leather coated shoulders as he looked at the woman. Bartholomew knew a lot of things that were different between the two, but like Mars was, he had his secrets and wouldn't tell them unless he was asked. The woman then pointed out that he smelt, felt, and looked like the man who she thought he was. He wasn't who she thought he was. She also told him that Mars' pets had been following him around. Mars already has weird shit following him. the man muttered, and snorted lightly. Think of Mars as like....My twin brother or something. the male had spoken, chuckling lightly. My twin brother who is a jerk and is insensitive. the man spoke, continuing on his stream of laughter at his other half. He was lucky that Mars was distant enough to actually be sleeping when the man had taken over the body instead of just waiting in the shadows like Bartholomew liked to do.

I take it that you know Mars and how much of a jackass he is. Bartholomew took any chance to talk down Mars. It was like his job or something.

OOC lol Poor Bart! wc 824

Crying helped and it did not take long for the woman's tears to roll to completion. Mars... Bartholomew... whoever the hell this man was was a comfort and having him here in this moment soothed her distressed soul. For a moment Orin did not even care if she knew the man or not. He looked familiar, just like her friend, but swore that he was not. Something was going on here that she needed to get to the bottom of, but for now she let the man console her. She wanted to feel guilty for being so selfish and enthralled in her drama, but temporarily she could not bring herself to feel bad for it. Perhaps it was the careful way Bartholomew handled the situation, letting her cry and talk it out. He understood her need to let her grief run its course. After a moment more, when the tears dried, she leaned back to look Bartholomew in the eyes, but did not wriggle away from his embrace.

Her eyes were puffy from crying but a smile commandeered her muzzle and she giggled as he referred to Sky in such a pleasing manner. 'Bat-shit crazy bitch-face' was an apt nick name for the almond furred psychopath. Unfortunately they would have to keep that one to themselves.

“Well... um...” How to put it? “I slept with the man she loves.” Honesty is the best policy. Sugar coating it wouldn't change the fact that it had happened.

She let a beat hang in the air before she pressed on, “To be honest, though, I didn't know she was in love with him. No one did. Not even Shawchert. But that didn't change anything in her opinion, I guess. 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.'

“So the fight ensued, and it has been a drama fest ever since. I haven't even left my bookstore in days. I can't stand the thought of going out there. Of facing everybody.” Her eyes flicked to the window but instead of falling upon the sight of the snow crusted square a dimwitted black face stared back at her. She couldn't help but laugh. “That poor little guy.” She said offhandedly, and turned back to Bartholomew.

Now it was time to face the glaring dilemma of this man's appearance. Her eyebrow quirked and she looked him over as he professed once again that he was, indeed, a man named Bartholomew and not Mars. How could this be? They looked exactly alike. But, she admitted, they did not act alike. Not in the least. Mars was a little strange, definitely reserved, but friendly enough to her. Orin was a little slow when it came to fingering the flaws in people and was not as dissuaded by Mars's introverted personality as others might have been. Then he mentioned something about being his twin brother, and her mind latched onto that. Her eyes went wide with sudden understanding and the look on her face was worthy of a man who could cure the common cold.

Ohhh! You're his twin brother? I didn't know Mars had a brother. I get it now. It's so cute that you dress alike. Well, a pleasure to meet you, Bartholomew. Sorry I'm all...” she shook her hands in the air to indicate how flustered and dramatic she had been.

Then he said something bad about Mars. Wait a minute! Mars was her friend and this kind of talk wasn't going to fly with her. She was happy to meet Mars's sibling and would love to make friends, but not at the expense of someone who she already had a relationship with. Her eyebrows pinched together and she shot him a scalding look.

“Hey! He may be your brother and you two clearly have a lot of family history going on, but he is my friend too. I'm very happy to make your acquaintance but not if it comes with a price of hearing someone degrade my friend.” She waited a moment, then nodded with satisfaction. “He is not a jerk, he's just shy. And he is a talented musician and is going to make costumes for me.”

There, that would do it, this man should be perfectly cowed now. She watched his face for any sign of resistance, full well and ready for a battle of stubborn wills. “If you can't refrain from talking bad about Mars when he isn't even here to defend himself then you can leave my bookstore this instant. But if you can put your differences aside... I mean, at least enough to not put them on me... then I'm glad to call you my new friend.”

She quirked an eyebrow as if to ask, 'deal?', offered a hand, and waited to see if the man would leave in an offended flurry or if he would accept her terms and shake on their new friendship.

OOC:

Bartholomew was glad that he did get a smile out of the woman after her tears had dried up, leaving a small wet spot on the wolf-dog's broad chest. Bartholomew did not touch the wet spot though, simply because he didn't care about it, unlike Mars would have. Bartholomew listened to the woman talk about what had happened. Apparently she had slept with some man that the woman named Sky was in love with. The woman let only a small pause hang in the air before she had continued to speak about how she, and the other, the man, Shawchert didn't even know. Bartholomew nodded his head when the woman said that famous saying that he had heard several times. He'd experienced that damn saying a few times with Lyndi as well so he definitely knew about it. She told him then that she had not left her bookstore in a few days and she couldn't bare to go out and face everyone. But it's not your fault. Sky shouldn't be mad at only ya', I mean, Shawchert had somethin' ta' do with this too, so she should be equally mad at both of ya'. It didn't give her right to attack ya'. Do the Alphas plan on punishing her for attackin' ya'? If they aren't, then they should. It wasn't nice. the man spoke to the woman, nodding his head at the end of this sentence. The woman looked at the sheep who was outside the window, looking in and watching it's master and his master's friend. Bartholomew looked back at the window, the black face looking into the shop and then the woman said "poor little guy" about the sheep. Bartholomew thought it was slightly funny that the sheep was still trying to get in, so he chuckled lightly before turning back to the woman.

She then went on to the next subject, just like that. She had believed the whole "I'm Mars' twin brother" deal and she said that she thought it was cute that they dressed alike. Bartholomew found it funny that the woman actually believed that he was a twin brother and not Mars. Bart smiled sweetly at the woman, a chuckle passing his lips before the woman apologized for the way she was at the moment. Nah, it's not a problem, I mean, If I was in da' same situation, I bet I'd be somewhat the same way. the man spoke, nodding his head again before he crossed his arms over his chest and said the things he said about Mars. Once he had let those things pass his lips, the woman was right on his case about what he had called his "twin brother". It was funny that she believed that bullshit. She had spoken about how if he couldn't keep his lips shut about Mars, then he should leave, as well as something about how Mars was her friend and Mars was just shy and blah blah blah, Mars this, Mars that. To him, you'd think that the woman was in love with the quiet man that was Bartholomew's other personality. It was funny to Bart because Bart knew that you couldn't love Mars without loving him too, because where Mars came, Bartholomew was right behind him, lurking in the shadows. He must like ya' if he's gonna make costumes f'r ya'. Bartholomew spoke to the woman, not even concerned with what she had said about leaving if he couldn't talk nicely of the quiet man.

What is your name? the man asked, since he figured that he'd take the deal of being the woman's friend, if only for Mars' sake. How nice of him to be so goddamn nice to Mars and not ruin one of the only friendships he had. He took the woman's hand and shook it once before letting it go and dropping his hand to his side. Why ya' live in a bookstore? Ya' like to read a lot? like that was a question. The woman did live in the bookstore after all. What rank are ya'?

This man was great at letting her vent, and moreover he went right along with her, thinking about the situation she described and adding to it in his own way. She nodded along with him, a 'yeah, you get it' look on her face and occasionally a few muttered sub-verbals of uh-huh and yeah would sneak out of her. Then he said something about a punishment and she could not hide the distaste that the thought summoned. Her ears laid back, golden eyes narrowed into angry slits, and one lip curled for a moment in annoyance. Though her displeasure was not at the man.

“Oh, don't even get me started on punishment...” She said, balling her hands up into small fists. But it was too late, she was started. She crossed her arms across her chest and took on a 'can you believe this' countenance. “The little... little... jerk Shawchert had the nerve to punish both of us. I didn't even do anything but defend myself! And I didn't see him having to deal with some great punishment, no. He just got to stand around having that male ego stroked while two women nearly killed each other over him. The funny part is I don't even like him. I mean, I like him, he's my friend and my alpha, but I'm not in love with him and I know that. But Sky just made me so... so mad that there was nothing to do but fight.”

She paused for a second, seething. “So, after all of this, as if it wasn't all embarrassing enough, Shawchert orders us both to report to one of the buildings in the square, ties our arms together-” she held up an arm for emphasis “and has the gall to tell us that we need to turn this place into a stable. Some crap about having to work together as a pack.” She shook her head mournfully. “It was humiliating. The punishment did not fit the crime. Not on my end, at least, I swear it.

“What's more, I've been sick as a dog and the work took a lot out of me. But you can bet I let Sky do most of the hard stuff,” she sighed and shook her head. She was finally winding down. Blowing off steam helped her greatly, and in the last few minutes since Bart's arrival she had gotten to both cry and vent, and now the balance inside of her was getting back to normal.

“Anyway...” It was as though mentioning that she had been sick suddenly reminded her that she did not feel very well, so she turned and paced away from Bartholomew and took a seat at the desk she had brought over from one of the other abandoned shops. She propped her elbow on the desk and rested her head in her hand, her eyes turned back to her friend. Or, her friend's brother. Or, well, her new friend.

It was funny for what looked like Mars to be asking her her name. Looking at that so-familiar face she had completely forgotten that he would not know it. She smiled apologetically. “Oh, I forgot you wouldn't know it yet. I'm Orin Takekuro.”

She nodded and giggled softly, “Yes, I live here. My bedroom is upstairs, though it's still a work in progress. I read all the time... well... I've been having trouble concentrating the last couple of days so I haven't really read much lately.” She looked sad for a moment. Not being able to visit the worlds of fantasy that lie in the pages of the books really took a toll on her. That, and the recent stress, were a terrible combination, and a vicious cycle. She could not read because she was stressed, and she was stressed because she could not read.

“I am a Writer. I'm still at the earliest rank but I am about to present some material to the leaders to see if I can advance a level,” she was proud about this. “I am also working on putting together a book of Cercatori's history. Skye... a different Skye, Skye with an E... said that if I get the project started and keep up with it that I can also be the pack's historian. You're welcome to take a look around if you want. See anything you like, you can borrow it.”

“So then, are you officially a member of Cercatori, too?” She asked, raising an eyebrow. “Or are you just visiting?”

OOC: Tongue

What a talkative creature this woman was. It was interesting to Bartholomew about how talkative one of his friends was, much less did he expect Mars to even have a friend. He listened to the woman though, wholeheartedly as she had explained to him what they were forced to do as punishment, and she also explained that she had also suffered because Shawchert ended up punishing both her and Sky. It seemed that the man did not want to take sides. Bartholomew shook his head, he did find this to be rather unfair, since it had been Shawchert's fault in the very beginning but then again, he didn't know the whole story. Bartholomew continued to shake his head. You've been sick ya' said? Wha' kinda' sick? the man asked, tilting his head to the right, wondering if she could be getting the flu or something. That wouldn't be good for her, nor the pack, and Bartholomew knew that Mars would know some teas that would be good for prevention of development, or at least he thought that it beat the flu because he would always feel awesome after drinking the tea when he was sick himself. The woman had moved over to the desk and taken a seat, and Bartholomew turn to the woman fully, and he stood there, a smile sitting on his maw and his hands being pushed into his jacket's pockets.

She finally would tell him her name. Orin Takekuro. Pretty name, Miss Orin. the man commented, charming smile still on the man's lips. The woman talked about her rank next, and Bart listened closely to the woman, her telling him that she had trouble concentrating enough to read because of whatever reasons. Bart crossed his arms across his broad chest. He gave shook his head lightly. Sorry to hear 'dat. Wha'if someone read to ya', would 'dat work? the man suggested, his steel eyes glancing over to a shelf where his hand reached out and grabbed a random book off of the shelf. It was a recipe book, and Bart chuckled lightly. Well, maybeh not 'dis book. the man spoke before he shoved it back (in a nice way, very respectful to the book so the woman wouldn't freak out) where he had gotten it and he started to look at the titles. She asked him if he was a member of the pack or if he was just visiting. Bart thought about it, and he peeked from around the book shelf to look at the woman again. Uhm, I'd say 'dat I'd be staying 'round here. Ain't got too many other options na'. the man spoke to the woman, shrugging his shoulders before he looked back to where he was looking at for a book.

Wha's yerr favorite type of story? I can read somethin' ferr ya'. Bartholomew spoke, smile on his face as he looked at the books to try and decide what to pick out. His steel eyes scanned over the books, going over the classics of Shakesphere and going to lesser stories Greek mythology. Those were his favorite. He wondered what was the woman's favorite.

“Yeah,” she nodded thoughtfully as she remembered her symptoms. “I've been really tired. Sometimes I feel like I have a fever. Not only do I want to sleep a lot but I get tired doing normal things. And then sometimes I feel like I want to sleep, but when I lay down I feel all twitchy and can't get comfortable. I can't concentrate on anything right now, and I get nauseous a lot.” She trailed off and shrugged slightly. It was almost as though talking about her symptoms were bringing them back, and she slumped over the desk in defeat.

Her eyes trailed after Bartholomew as he meandered along one of the shelves. He offered to read to her and grabbed a book, and Orin could not suppress the wide smile that overtook her features at this offer, nor would she want to. Her ears perked up and she straightened a little. What a cute, sweet gesture! No one ever offered to read to her before – not unless she was teaching them how to read, and she told them they had to.

“I'd love it if you read to me. You can read that to me if you want,” she joked, seeing the picture on the cover. “Then maybe we could cook something from it. Hah-ha! Yeah, in this winter with all these supplies we have.” She gave a quick glance at the window. Small flecks of snow were now raining down, but it was hardly a torrent to worry about. The sheep's black wool now had a dusting of white. “Any recipe for lamb chops? Just kidding!”

“I like fantasy stories most of all... things with dragons and heros and princesses,” she giggled softly. “And plays. I love plays of all kinds. They usually have one of every character in them. Something with a little adventure. You pick.”

She crossed her arms over the desk and leaned over it again, propping her head on her forearms. She suddenly felt very sleepy so she thought she would rest her head for a moment. She yawned and the gesture made her eyes water slightly. “Maybe something like a bedtime story,” she looked tired, but her tone was purely joking. “Why don't you pick something that interests you? I like everything, and I really like to see what others are in to.”

OOC: Last post. :o +3

The woman was open, as open as a book to him. Maybe it was because both Bartholomew and Mars looked the same, maybe she just liked Mars that much. It made Bartholomew think of Krystalle. She was missed, this was for sure, and maybe this was Mars' way of showing that. By making a friend who was like Bart's friend in some ways. Krystalle was a true artist though. She pretty much grew up in the city of art, and that all her life was art. This woman, Bartholomew didn't know. All he knew was that she was a writer, just like his own Krystalle. Bart listened to her symptoms though, but didn't particularly know what it could have been really. He kept the symptoms at the back of his head and he thought about any remedies that he might know. None came to mind right off the top of his head but he looked around the book case to see the woman and opened his mouth to speak. Mars might know something, so I'll talk ta him about it. the man spoke, nodding his head lightly and smiling to the woman before disappearing behind the bookcase again.

Bartholomew listened to the rest of what the woman had been talking about, her telling him that she liked the fantasy novels the best. The man found a rather curious story that he could have sworn that he had seen before (really he was only remembering that Mars read this book) and he picked it up. The title read "Sinbad". Bart picked it out and trotted back over to Orin, who was laying on her desk, looking as if she was tired. Bart gave a gentle smile, and then he opened his maw to speak again. Sinbad teh sailor. I thinkitsa good one. the man spoke to her before he walked over and he sat down on the ground in front of the desk.
