And Here I Dreamt I Was Awake

They should not make intriguing areas so far away from home, Ascher decided. It had taken him all day to get to Halifax, as everyone called it, and spending the night in some dark, seemingly uninhabited area did not excite the young wolf in the least. He wanted to know more about the entirety of this place that dwarfed Wolfville, but the sojourn could not be more depressing. And lonesome. Eating breakfast, small as it was, by oneself only made the Stormbringer feel more alone and without any recourse if something should happen to him. He eyed the dark shadows that loomed around the cold building that had acted as his shelter from the night before. Beyond that lay a concrete jungle peppered liberally with greenery; the things that had inhabited this area before Ascher must have had the strangest tendencies. What with all the stone rising so high and the grass not even covering a respectable portion of it. And the trees looked so newly grown; who would not want a tree to provide shade and a convenient growing place for herbs and mushrooms?

It was something to that effect that had brought the Dahlian back to Halifax. He had heard prior to his first visit that many things here could not be found anywhere else; books, medicine, and unique plants that were sure to yield new flavors and be worth studying. Ascher even had some leftover dried deer meat, courtesy of the Hibernal celebration to try some herbal concoctions with. Granted, it was all wrapped up in a cloth that Ascher had needed help knotting around his neck before he had set off for the city in the first place. Maybe there was a contraption within this be-speckled metropolis that could more easily hold his belongings. That was something to look for today. Hopefully Ascher could manage to hunt something around here and feed himself for a change, too.

And maybe he would grow wings and fly around instead of walk. Thinking of which, the wolf stretched his four legs and started padding off into the budding morning.
