Oh yeah. Trap time!

He lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling; its many cracks and indents scattering across the uneven stone. His eyes were listless; cold and devoid of emotion. He had no idea what to do with himself; one minute he was cloud nine happy, then he was breaking down in tears and occasionally he felt like tearing into anything that came within range. In short, he was a mess and he scared himself.

Raising a hand towards the ceiling he stared at it, turning it over and closing it to make a fist. What is it that he should do, what can he do? He sucked at socializing, he had no real friends. He could make bracelets and small pieces of jewellery but did not feel inclined to do so. He had nothing, everything he could do and everything he was he’d gained from Jay; his entire life, his memories, even the majority of his personality traits he’d picked up from Jay; he wasn’t himself. He was like a puppet on a string, an actor on a stage. Who was he?

A depressed, lonely wolf with psychotic tendencies he thought, answering his own question. Gently he lowered his bandaged arm to cover his eyes; the wounds had mainly healed or were healing nicely thanks to Demi.

Then he remembered the day he joined Anathema; the decision to join had been his and his alone. That day he’d met Selene and Naniko; two of the pack members he found that he could tolerate. He also recalled the moment he choose his room; how he’d explored the area planning to set up a few traps, but after settling in he never really had the chance to do so.

Well, I have the time now he thought his mood lifting. Traps! He would set up some traps; they would benefit the pack and it would give him something to do. Rising to stand upon two legs he left his room; he’d become accustomed to moving around the caves in his optime form since the injuries. As he passed his small desk he picked up a few supplies and strapped his pocket knife on, then before leaving he picked up a hair band and tried to tie his hair back. The healing skin on his arm pulled and he choose to just leave it down; keeping the hair band around his left wrist. Once satisfied he had everything he headed into the tunnels.

The wounds were still fresh on her legs. She had made them a couple of days or so back but they hadn't healed yet. Then again she hadn't been putting anything on them to get them to heal. She hadn't gone to a healer to allow them to be looked at. She hadn't been going too close to anyone for them to be able to see. She had been keeping to herself when she could. And when she was in the presence of others she made to hide the marks as best as possible. Should anyone chance to see them then she had the ready answer of having accidentally ran into something. It was a flimsy excuse but with many having gotten used to her walking on her hands, which made her head lower to the ground, it sounded plausible enough that she wouldn't pay attention to something that was sticking out up high and getting her leg caught on it. Or at least she hadn't exactly been called on her lie so far. Perhaps it was because of her kind nature, the way that she was nice and pleasant to everyone even if she was on the quieter side. Who would think that the girl that saw good in everyone could ever think about harming herself?

Perhaps that is why she continued to get away with it? That and because she was something of a hermit. She also went off of pack lands in order to injure herself. She didn't hang around in Anathema when she was marking herself up. She went away so that she wouldn't be caught. She made sure that enough things were done so that she wouldn't be missed. With Juju running off and playing without wanting her around she didn't really have too many responsibilities any longer. No one would ever notice if she turned up missing. Or at least that is what she thought. She wasn't an asset to the pack so she most likely wouldn't even be missed at all. Why should they miss her? What had she done to contribute anything at all to the pack? She had one lucky idea but that was about it. And for all she knew her sister could have only agreed to appease her. To make her feel as if she had contributed something. Nani could have just been the nice and kind sister that Sele knew her to be.

There seemed to be more and more moving into her side of the cave system and so she had decided to take a trip to the other side that didn't seem so crowded. It gave her some time by herself without having to leave home. Her legs were sore still and so she really didn't want to have to travel so far. "Stupid Sele, so so stupid." She grumbled to herself. Normally the marks didn't hurt for this long. Usually she could ignore it but not this time. The pain throbbed with each movement that she made. "You did a little too much. How could you have been so stupid!? Now everyone will know. You are worthless Sele. Completely and utterly useless!" She spoke the words that she always heard in her head out loud now since she figured that no one else was around to hear them.

It was as she walked upon her hands did she a small, sharp piece of stone. She paused to drop her feet in order to sit so that she could hide her find in her gris gris seeing as she had nowhere else to tuck it. She figured that she could take it back to her room and hide it. She had found something that she could carry with her if she couldn't make it to her regular spot where she could cut herself at. If she couldn't make it outside of the pack lands. After all she had found a cave near the shore to hide in. She could use that as a secondary place. That would work for her. She could have a place away from the pack lands as well as on it. She had a stone that she left at her off pack lands site and now for when to use when she remained in Anathema.

Now you see why i asked permission to pick her up ^^

A dark furred hand lightly touched the rough wall of the tunnel, gently moving over it as he walked along, feeling the irregular bumps as upon the wall’s surface. The tunnels were dark as usual; hard to navigate through unless you were familiar with them. And if you weren’t, there’d be trouble. Maybe a pit fall would work best in a dead end, he mused as he relocated the rope and various other tools, which were sliding down his arm back onto his shoulder. As he moved them, something snagged at a few stands of his hair, causing his skull to throb a little; he wished he’d put his hair up now. A light breeze drifted through the tunnels, coming in from one of the emergency exits, as it reached him it carried a light scent of blood. Instinctively he checked both his bandaged arms, to make sure he hadn’t re-opened any wounds, but the bandages where clear. It wasn’t him, but someone or something was injured up ahead. He paused, considering whether or not he should fetch Demi, the healer. But he couldn’t risk it; he hadn’t gotten a good enough sniff to determine what was up ahead.

Dropping his tools down to one side he continued down the main tunnel, darks ears swirling around, trying to pick up any sound. No one was normally on this side of the cave; the other pack members had selected caves on the opposite side to his, which suited him just fine. The privacy was nice, at times.

Turning the bend he glanced at Selene and jumped back a few steps; hid himself against the wall. Why am I hiding? He questioned himself, but he did not move. Instead he remained still, observing her. What was wrong with her, where was she injured? The scent of blood was on her, but incredibly light; maybe she’d just got back from hunting, blood doesn’t always mean someone’s injured, but he was still worried.

He moved off the wall slightly, ready to head over to her. He liked Selene; she was incredibly, suspiciously, kind. But he couldn’t help but like her, and that frustrated him to no end. But before he had a chance to reveal himself she spoke. Cold blue eyes narrowed as he listed to her degrading herself, why? She wasn’t stupid, contrary she seemed remarkably smart to Key. Why would she be so harsh upon herself?

Temporarily distracted by her words, he almost didn’t re-hide himself before she moved forward. Hugging to the walls he continued to watch, a confused thrown deepening into his face. The white female dropped down to her feet and picked up a sharp looking stone, slotting it into her gris gris. Puzzled by her actions he gave up observing, scolding himself for spying on someone, and began to walk over to her. As he reached two to three paces away he looked down at the female.

Every muscle in his body bunched up and tensed, he stood there perfectly still staring down at her legs; across them were varying cuts of length and depth. His muzzle dew back, wrinkling up to reveal sharp white teeth. He could feel his anger flaring up; his throat vibrating more and more by the minute. Of all the things and of all the people he would not have associated Selene with self harming; but she was. His bottom jaw fell open as he let out a growl of pure fury; deafening his own ears in the process. The confusion on his face was replaced by dark anger, directed at the situation more so then Selene. How had things gotten so bad to the point where she was self-harming, why was no one interfering, why was no one helping her?!

He bent down and scooped Selene up in his arms without saying a word. Once he had a secure grip on her; careful not to touch her legs, he turned tail and stormed back to his room. There he knew he had things to give her basic first aid and, well. He wasn’t to sure what to do afterwards. All the while back to his room he let out a low growl; a constant rumble to let out his building anger, his grip on her tightened as he continued to storm through the tunnel, giving no consideration to his already injured arms.

When he reached his room he shifted Selene so that she was in one arm and moved forward; pushing aside his curtain door. To the side, he placed Selene down upon the stool he’s made and steps back. He was shaking all over and still growling, struggling to get control of himself he turned his back to her; unable to remain calm and look at her. “How long” he asked, his voice eerily devoid of emotion, but his eyes betrayed him; so full of pain and sadness. He didn’t understand, why was he so upset over this?

His nails sunk into his palms as he clenched his fists, letting out a long sigh he finally stopped his growling and turned to face her. He walked over, bending down to check the wounds. They weren’t that deep thankfully, but they hadn’t been treated. He got back up and moved over to his storage box and begun rummaging through it to find a flask of water and some bandages; he was no doctor, but he could at least clean them a bit and bandage them up.

Pulling the items out of the box, he looked up to Selene and lifted the bandages and water. “Best you treat them, I’m no doctor but it’d be better than leaving them alone”. His expression was a controlled neutral; but inside his emotions were running amok. It infuriated him how little control he seemed to have around Selene; he’d even spectacularly fallen right in front of her before he recalled, the memory embarrassing him all over again. Why, what was it about her that made him this way? But for now, he’d best apologize he decided.

“Sorry about that, don’t know what came over me” he sheepishly said to her. He hoped she wouldn’t be angry at him for, well. Kinda kidnapping her and going all big bad wolf.

Hardly anyone would ever think that behind that sweet smile and kind exterior lived a darkness. But rather than lashing out at others she could only find it within her to harm herself and no others. Honestly she felt bad and at fault she someone else get harmed but she couldn't spare that same empathy to herself. Others were important but just not herself. These thoughts and feelings had been with her for as long as she could remember. It was only a recent turn of events that she had stumbled onto a solution for what ailed her. It was after the destruction of the cult that she had started to cut herself. It had been an accident at first but during that time that she was focused the pain her thoughts had finally quieted and left her alone for a moment.

That isn't to say that she had been completely without happiness in her life. She had that while she was in the cult. There was nothing to compare to the dependency that a pup had. And when she had found a mate, even though it had been forbidden. She didn't mind the sneaking around for the times that she could be in his arms. That had been when she had been happiest, especially to find out that she had been carrying his pups. Yes, there had been more than Juju but she had failed to let anyone know of the girl that she had lost in the birthing process. Just like it was assumed that Juju could belong to any male in the cult it was also assumed that he had been the only one born in his litter.

For a period of time Juju was her entire life. At least until he had started to grow independent which prompted her to cut more to deal with the loss. Her older two were able to take care of themselves and didn't need her any longer so she had clung to Juju, especially after she had figured that she had lost Ouija and that he had died back in the cult. But no, she found out her older son was alive and doing well. That had provided a temporary relief, at least until he had left. He was living in a different pack even though his immediate family was right here. She felt to be losing him again and Demi had her own thing going on and Juju didn't want her around. No one needed her so she didn't see the harm in abusing herself. The only one that was being hurt was herself and she clearly didn't mind it since she was the one doing. She didn't play a real role in the pack and no one would ever notice if she disappeared.

Actually she spent a greater portion of her time alone. It was how no one had figure out that her thoughts plagued her and haunted her constantly. She was a hermit. She was either hiding in her den or had disappeared somewhere outside of the cave system. At times she would go to the treasure cave just off the beach and sit and stare into the broken mirror for hours at a time. It showed her for the monster that she knew she was inside. If she wasn't there then she was typically just outside of the claimed pack lands and sitting near the river where she had hidden a rock so that she could face her personal demons by carving them out in her flesh.

"Ugliest ever. No one wants you or needs you. Not even your children want to be around you." She found herself talking to herself again. She was even considering testing out the rock to make sure that it would work. But she was found before she could draw it back out and test it. She was surprised when she was suddenly picked up and carried through the tunnels. She hadn't thought that she was being watched at all. And well, she didn't think that anyone would care even should she be caught because she wasn't harming another.

All she could do was stare up at the male that she had met when he had first decided to join. She hadn't seen him since then. Then again she hadn't really seen too many with the habits that she had been keeping. She didn't struggle simply because it would be near about impossible to get away. She couldn't just get up and run like others could. She couldn't function on her feet so by the time that she would get to her hands she would simply be captured again. And well, there was this sense of strength and security in his embrace. It was something she hadn't felt since her mate had held her tight.

She was unafraid despite his growling but then again she had been speaking ill of herself and only figured that he had more blame to add on. Things that she had forgotten to degrade herself for. She couldn't blame anyone for being upset with her. She must have done something wrong in some fashion or another. So when she was placed down finally she just sat still and watched him. The question threw her for a loop though. "What? I've never been able to walk like everyone else does." It was something most just accepted without asking. She figured that would be the only odd quirk about her that he could possibly think of questioning. After all he was growling so he clearly had to be upset with her over some form of harm that she had caused him.

She looked confused as he came over and checked on her legs. "I can still feel them. They work. I just can't stand or walk on them." And to show that they worked she gently kicked her legs. They still moved and everything. There was nothing physically wrong with them but she found herself to be unable when standing upright. She got this overwhelming wave of dizziness when she tried and just ended up falling over. So it was probably something in the mind that she had to get over. She just didn't think to for she did well enough walking on her hands as she did, or crawling when she had to.

The female had no idea what he was after when he had gotten up and moved away once again. She watched as he rummaged around for something or another. She wasn't sure what the flask or bandages were for when he had pulled them out and ended up holding them up. She didn't bother to reach for the items. She had no idea what to do with them. "They are fine. Just some scratches. They will heal on their own." She didn't want them doctored up. She would be unable to play with them if they were covered in bandages. "I don't know how to use that stuff either." No, her sister and daughter were the ones with the medical knowledge. She had never possessed any of that. Besides she figured that if she admitted to him that she had no idea what to do either then he would just forget about it and leave it along and drop it.

"There is no need to apologize. No one is hurt." She offered up her sweet little smile. It was this exact look and nature that made it hard for any to believe just what she was capable of. Even witnessing it made one wonder if they had really seen what they thought that they had seen. How could someone with this gentleness and compassion for others ever purposely injure herself? This female had her own personal demons and secrets. She had things that she was hiding from everyone and just had to deal with all by herself.

Finally had a burst of muse!!

In Character

He let out a soft sigh and gently lowered himself to the cool cave floor. It was a relief to know that she wasn’t angry at him for his outburst, but at the same time he believed Selene was unable to be angry at someone, she seemed too nice. Placing the bandages and bottle of water on the floor he ran a hand over the uneven floor he concentrated on calming himself and gathering his thoughts; e was going to have to choose his words carefully if he were to go about this without upsetting her.

Softening his expressions and relaxing his posture into & neutral position he stared at her, his eyes calm compared to the mixed emotions wrecking havoc within him. “That’s not what I meant” he picked up & loose stone and started fiddling with it. He was quite possibly the worst person when it came to situations like this; he had little experience encouraging and being nice to others and so doing so strained him and he found himself struggling for words.

Deciding to just be blunt, rather than beat around the bush he looked directly at her. “How long have you been cutting yourself?” for it was clear that the cuts upon her legs were no acquired in some accident, and the rock she had picked up earlier! Her actions from then made sense now. Placing his hands on his thighs he awkwardly stood up and walked towards her. His eyes fixed themselves upon her gris gris. With & quick movement he reached into the pouch and pulled out the rock. And silently retreated back & step and sat back down.

He ran & finger along the edge of the rock, it was sharp and he had no doubt it could cut into flesh if enough pressure was applied. His hand wrapped around the rock; he wasn’t going to let her have that back. “And before you try to lie to me again, I saw and heard everything.” His voice lowered to & menacing tone with him realizing. The memories of her talking herself down flared up inside his mind and set of his anger again.

“But bloody hell! Why do you believe you’re useless? Heck, if it weren’t for you I’d have probably ran away and not joined Anathema or worse, someone else may have discovered me and things may not have ended well!” he was shouting again, he’d risen to his feet and began pacing to try and keep himself calm.

“God dammit” he punched his fist into the wall, expelling the excess anger into it. When he had regained control he bent down and picked up the bandages and water and moved to crouch beside the female.

“I’m no expert but I can atleast clean them up okay and bandage them” and with that he poured the content of the bottle over the cuts and began to bandage them up before she could argue back.

Why was he helping her? He questioned himself. He was in no position to give out advice, if it weren’t for his stupid self-protection reflexes he’d have probably been cutting himself too. But seeing Selene harm herself hurt him. A lot.

She tilted her head at his words. That wasn't what he meant? Then what was it that he was talking about? She had no idea if it wasn't about the peculiar way that she walked. That was the aspect that always seemed to interest others and aroused questions. It was a rather strange flaw after all. Everyone else was able to walk upright but not her. At least her children hadn't suffered because of it though. They seemed normal enough despite her faults. She was glad that she hadn't affected them too negatively. That she hadn't royally screwed them up. She would have hated to ruin their lives. She would really be extremely upset with herself if that had been the case. Still, just being related to her could be bad for them.

She frowned and looked towards the ground with the blunt question. She wasn't sure just how to answer that one. She opened her mouth to speak, to give some sort of excuse or something. But before she could say anything she was cut off by him stealing the rock from her gris gris and his continued words. She kept quiet until he had run out of things to say. With his ranting tirade she wasn't even certain how to respond. How could she even begin to explain when she didn't know why she did what she did herself? Well, she knew she was punishing herself but how was that to be explained so that he could understand? She had no idea. She didn't know what to tell him. Because of that she dropped whatever excuse she was going to give and focused on something else instead.

"You don't have to trouble yourself with that. Really, it doesn't bother me. They'll heal up on their own." She reached down to try and lay her hand over top of the one that he was using to doctor up the cuts on her legs. "It isn't too often that I use my legs so the cuts aren't bothersome." Or such was her opinion on the subject. And well, she probably wasn't going to leave the bandages on anyways. That would just draw attention to them and she really didn't want that. She didn't want to have been caught at all. "You really should just worry about fretting over yourself. There is no need for you to stress yourself out about me. Remember, I've already had children and the oldest ones are older than you. I'm not so frail that I will break if I'm not watched after." Despite her handicaps she has managed to watch and care after herself. While she might not be a skilled hunter she still managed to feed herself at least. She had her own brand of issues but despite it all she was still alive and had raised her children. She only had one pup left now but he was displaying his own independence. He seemed to be doing well and his development hasn't been stinted because of her.

Totally forgot about this thread >.<

In Character

After Selene had finished speaking he gave her a look that was to say ‘you have got to be kidding me’. His hands reached out and continued to treat the cuts upon her legs; his concentration only on the task at hand, using treating her wounds as a distraction to reel in his flaring temper once more. Eventually, he had treated the cuts to his satisfaction; sure, the bandaging was crude and poorly done but it was better than leaving them wounds alone as she had been.

“Even if they will heal, they could still get infected if you leave them like this” he informed her, not commenting on how casually she had talked about cutting herself. “And before you get any foolish ideas of removing them..” his sentence cut off as he took in a deep, even breath to steady his temper once more. “I’ll be keeping an eye out to make sure they remain on” and to emphasise his point he looked at the bandages. “I mean it; you need to be careful with open cuts. No. Taking. The. Bandages. Off”. Then he reconsidered his words and added “At least not until they are fully healed.”

He avoided commenting on how she so easily spoke of cutting herself, for he knew all he had to say would not be pleasant. It wasn’t as if he couldn’t understand the need to self harm; if anything he was jealous of those capable of doing so. So many times after Jay’s death he wanted to run a blade across him, he needed such a distraction, but got no relief. For Jay’s teaching prevented him from ever taking his life or harming himself. Funny, how the person responsible for his pain was the person responsible for keeping him alive all this time.

Moving away from darkening thoughts, he went to address what she had said last. Not so frail I will break if I’m not watched Huh? “I beg to differ” he whispered to himself. He released a sharp, low sigh before he continued “Lookie here Selene, I don’t need to ‘fret’ over myself, for I can look after myself without any difficulty” his voice was tense and low. “And whether you have had children whom are older than me or not matters little, for quite clearly you are not okay, so you will be watched. Okay?” Although he phrased it as a question, his tonne of voice leaned more to an order.

Everything about the conversation he was having and the situation he was in was odd. Even more odd were his out of control emotions; he didn’t understand why he was so bothered by the white female’s actions, for he had never cared about what another did before. If someone wanted to self harm, he didn’t care. So why was he so concerned? His own desire to help the female added to his irrational irritation. Sure, she’d helped him out. Yes, that was it. He was just repaying her for her past kindness.

Nothing more, nothing less.
