A little bit weaker

Mati closed the door to her mother's room, a bowl of water in her hands. As it clicked shut she rested her back against the old cold wood. A sigh came from her chest, and she felt the deep-set worry fill her chest once again. Her brother would be a father soon and she and her mate would need to leave the pack lands for a few days. She had just convinced her mother that staying here would be the best for the pack, as well as her health. But she would miss the older woman’s faith and clarity in a time of excitement and even panic. The woman’s illness was being treated and she felt that there was improvement but still her heart broke at each cough that was heard.

Mati walked down the step and after throwing the water out the door she returned to the room she shared with her mate and placed the bowl on the table that stood inside the room. It was clear of drawings, paintings and supplies. It had few things atop it, some of Cambria’s healing supplies and rags and blankets. Things that Haven and Princess might need. Her purple eyes looked at them, a frown on her bronze face and she turned to lean against the piece of furniture.

The female closed her eyes, nose tilted upwards as she fought the tears that wanted so badly to come to her. Her mother would survive this, even if Mati thought it was even possible that she might not. The pack seemed weakened, with the fall of Artemis, the loss of Denali, and her mother’s mandatory bed rest. It was at such times that it was important that she stayed strong; fill the gap that was felt by their second in command’s weakness.

Mati inhaled deeply, calming her fears and then began to rearrange what was on the table, refolding and re-staking until it was neat.

Oh wow, look at this beautiful table I have here ;D

The Dreaming pack's Medicus slowly walked down the staircase of the mansion. She felt unsteady on her feet, and drained of all energy. Her emotions had turned into nothing more than an aching numbness that would pain her more some times than others. Now was one of those times. Her sister still would not wake up. Denali was still missing. Anu was still sick. Part of her wanted to ask what else could possibly happen to them all, but she feared tempting the fates, and so these thoughts were buried deep inside her head. The world seemed to be at its darkest and cruelest and she had no desire to provoke any more ill will towards those she loved.

Guilt was settled heavy in her chest, for so many things, but at the moment most weighty was the fact that she and Mati were meant to leave soon for a few days' time. Over a month ago she had promised to go to Cour des Miracles to help with Princess' birthing and now she was deeply regretting that commitment. It was not that she did not wish to help Princess and Haven, but simply that she felt she was so sorely needed here. With Artemis still dead to the world and Anu's infection, how could she leave with a clear conscience? Even if her sister were back to help? Once she reached the bottom of the stairs she paused, trying to conquer the tears that welled up in her oceanic eyes. It was just all too much.

The Marino walked solemnly into the room she shared with her mate to find the Church fey reorganizing some of the supplies they had laid out for their trip. She connected briefly with those violet orbs and the tears rolled freely down her cheeks. Cambi felt as if she might fall, like her legs would simply buckle beneath her and she would tumble to the ground.

hehehe Smile

Slowly, the thoughts were becoming numb, the tiredness that she felt becoming light and nothing but a soft pull towards a needed sleep. She worked to keep the worries at bay.

The sound of the door made her jump, and she turned to see the only one she could expect at a time like this. Her frown set deep, her eyes watching the sea foam green and the wordless sound that was herd just as loudly as if Cambria had walk through their door screaming.

The tall woman walked towards her. She was not slow about it, her paw steps quick as she knew that she was needed infront of her mate more now then ever before. The sadness could be felt radiating from her dark chocolate body, and Mati's own could not match it. It was swept away, in its place there was a strength that she had thought had left her. The bronze woman wrapped an arm around her mate's shoulders, the other went to cradle the back of her head. Mati knew why she cried, and so let the silence stand.
