Everything was happening so quickly, problems were found here and there throughout the pack, and it was as though an endless heap of nothing but uncertain wolves here and there. Liliana had one thing on her mind as she found herself helping yet another pack mate with something. She had to make sure the horses were ok. The snow was so deep, but she’d found she was lighter on her feet in her lupus form… a form she rarely took, and one that showed off her herding ancestry very well.

Bounding through the snow was not too much of a problem to her light form, but it was still a lot of work. She soon found herself by the Large door… or what use to be the door to the stables. Her breath was caught in her lungs as she rushed into the snow spilled stables. The horses had gotten away… at least most of them. The cows even seemed to have gotten out somehow. As she looked into each stall though, jumping on her hind legs to look through the bars each time, she found out that not all the horses got away. One of the workers was laying down stiff… Liliana’s heart sank and she knew she should have been there for them. All of them. She could have taken care of them, made sure they were ok… couldn’t she? That was when she heard something, a soft nickering, and the neighing of a foal… a foal? Liliana’s heart stopped, was she hearing things? She moved to the stall she’d heard it from and looke inside. In there was one of the horses she’d caught but had not had an owner for, laying there with a small foal next to the horse, shivering. Liliana wasted no time. She shifted into her optime form and hurried to find any blankets she could to get the poor baby horse warm. Then she would go looking for the rest of the horses. First she had to make sure the baby didn’t catch anything, or end up like the male in one of the stalls. She felt horrible and in her heart she was worried about Grace, being outside in the weather like that… but they had all been wild once… they would know how to face a storm like this. She finally found something suitable and hurried over to the stalls and opened them, seeing that both the mare and the baby were cold. She hurried to wrap the foal up, and found the blanket for the mother and wrapped her up as well.

Sorry for the wait! <3 500+

The Gadui Kanati was tired from the effort of digging everyone out of the Town Hall who had taken refuge there, but there was no time for rest. The tribe was in a state of panic and crisis and seeing as the Kalona was incapacitated, it was his job to shoulder much of the responsibility for helping AniWaya get back on its feet as quickly as could be managed. It had sent a chill through his soul to see the Great Fire extinguished when he had emerged for the Town Hall, but after he had finished digging the building out he had set off with Liliana to check upon the stables. He had been the one to take her away from the animals at the beginning of the storm and felt an obligation to help his mate however he could now. Of course he had his own personal interest in the stables as well, seeing as his own horse and friend was housed there.

Liliana had shifted down to her four legged form to make the trip faster, but Nayati had stayed in his two legged form since he had not used the other since he was a child. It was slower going, but it was the only way he was comfortable with, plus he did not want to leave his bow and quiver behind. There was not much possibility that they would find any prey, but if he managed to spot some he wanted to be able to take it down and bring it back to the village. Not to mention the possible unpleasant task of having to put a tribe animal down if they were too badly injured to survive.

When the hunter finally reached the site of the stables, his hot breath becoming frost in the frigid air, he felt his heart drop as he saw the doors were broken and wide open. He rushed into the building to find nearly all of the horses missing, aside from a dead one and a mother and foal that Lili was currently tending to. His mind raced, where would they have gone to? Had any of them survived outside the protection of the building. Without a word, the Utina stepped back outside and made a noise that Iye knew meant for him to come to Nayati. Moments passed, and he could hear nothing, nor see any sign of the dapple grey horse. As a deep worry settled into his gut, the man tried the call again, louder this time.

The sound of a whinny perked his ears and his breath held until he caught sight of the ghostly equine figure emerging from the sea of white. "Ha!" he exclaimed as he ran to meet the stallion. When they reached one another Nayati wrapped his arms around Iye's face. "I knew you wouldn't give up so easily brother." The happy moment of reunion could not last long though. "Stay here, I will be right back." The Gadui Kanati raced back to the stables to speak with his mate. "Iye is alive and fine. Perhaps he knows where the other horses are. I will go look for them, did you wish to come? Or will you stay here?" She seemed quite occupied with the new foal, but perhaps she would spare the time to come look with him.

WC: 301 OOC: Permission granted for some pp I know it would be hard to do much without it Wink

Liliana was still tending to the foal, who she predicted was premature now that she saw, when Nayati came through, she didn’t say anything, neither did he, but they didn’t have to, they knew what was going on and what they would have to do. She watched from the corner of her eye as Nayati left the stables again and called for his horse, she hoped that Iye would come back, he was a great horse, and to lose a companion would be hard enough on Nayati, and wasn’t something she wished upon her mate. She waited as he called again. Her heart knotted up, thinking the worst when she heard a whinny, oh the sound of such a beautiful noise, and she knew it was Nayati’s horse. Nayati raced into the stables and told her of the news, this time she looked him in the face, how could she blame him for any of this? She smiled at him warmly.

Yes I will go with you let me wrap up the foal and I’ll head out with you.

She said, she hoped it would be ok to leave such a fragile creature to the elements, though the wind was slightly blocked… and it was not as hard as it had been before… she’d have to worry about it when she could, right now multiple horses needed them.

Ok I am ready, lets go!

She said standing up after wrapping the foal up , to keep it warm and dry, she moved to her mates side. She smiled at him for helping her, though she wished she could have stayed, though she doubted she could have done anything to prevent much of what had happened to the stables themselves. She would let him lead them as her mind was already elsewhere.

Kk! You can go ahead and direct them to wherever the horses are/which ones they find ^^

He supposed he could not have blamed Liliana if she had been mad at him for making her leave, now that they could see the state of things at the stables. Nayati did not regret his choice for a moment, but he would be able to see why she might blame him for it in the heat of the moment. His mate took her profession as seriously as he took his own, and having something like this happen was a terrible blow to them all. Thankfully though, Lili looked back up and him and gave him a smile that made this cold world seem more warm. She said she would come with him and he waited patiently as she tended to the newborn horse. Nayati hoped that the creature would survive, being born in such circumstances were dangerous, though if it lived it would serve as a good omen for them all.

Once she was ready he lead her out to where Iye was waiting for them. The Utina gave the stallion a quick check over to make sure that he would be able to carry one or both of them. His companion seemed to have faired the storm quite well though, and he could see no outward signs of injury or illness, and his attitude held nothing telling in the negative means either. The hunter mounted the horse and then pulled Liliana up behind him. "Show us where the others are," he spoke softly but firmly. The dapple grey nodded his head, mane shaking in the air, and his long legs began to plow through the snow in the direction he had come from. Nayati said a silent prayer that the other horses had fared just as well, especially Grace.

WC:314 OOC: Bleh crappy post ; ;!

She was worried for the others, and at the same time the newborn foal, but at that moment the young animal was out of danger and she wanted to find grace, the ponies, sugar, even buck. She wanted to make sure all of her charges were safe and alright… including the stupid cows. She hopped on the back of Iye skillfully, and they were off running through the land to where the first of the few horses were.

Nayati, it’s Sugar and the ponies look!

Liliana pointed in the distance that they were closing. She’d be able to ride sugar, and search for Grace. The ponies looks healthy enough, just like sugar, just cold, really cold. As they slowed to a stop when the got to the horse and ponies Liliana checked over the three animals confirming they were just fine. She nodded happily at the horses and pulled herself up on Sugar. This was not a time to think about who’s horses were whose, especially since she rode all of them to exercise them anyway. She looked at Nayati and thought

Maybe we should get the ponies back to the stables and search more?

She offered, she didn’t want the ponies to just stand here in the cold but she wanted to find the others, there were still a few out there somewhere. She wanted them all safe, here and now. Usually horses stuck together as a herd would, so if Sugar and the ponies were here the others were not too far behind. She turned the horse to look and see if she could find the others, but there was nothing in sight at that moment. Liliana was worried and she looked to Nayati for a little help. He was her stone in uncertain times, and though she relied heavily on him, she knew she couldn’t to most anything here without him.

Psh, is not <3

As they began to ride through the white landscape, Nayati also hoped that they could find all the horses and that they would be in good health and condition. The fact that Iye had made it through fine out in the elements was most definitely a sign of hope for the rest, but one could never be too sure. Soon enough though Lili was speaking and pointing at three equine shapes in the distance. The hunter smiled with relief as they came upon the horse and the two ponies and watched as his mate check them over for any signs of injury. Once there were all deemed fit, Liliana hopped onto Sugar's back and looked to him. She asked about getting the two ponies back to the stables before continuing their search, but the way she searched the horizon for the others told him which she most desired to do. Her Grace was still out there, after all.

"I can get these two back to the stables, if you want to continue searching and then I can meet up with you. It won't be hard to follow your tracks in the snow." It would likely be the easiest tracking the Gadui Kanati had ever done, in fact. "While I am back at the stables I can grab some rope too, just in case we might need it." Maybe a horse would be spooked and would need to be tied to get them to follow, or one might be stuck in the snow and need to be pulled out. There were many possibilities, and it would be better to be prepared. Still, he waited for clearance from his mate before moving to heard the two ponies back to the damaged stables.

WC: 384 OOC: nomnom

Liliana didn’t like the idea of parting from her mate but she decided it was for the best, especially if they were going to find a scared and unwilling horse. She nodded to him and smiled trying to make her own self feel better. It wasn’t as though he were leaving her forever.

I’ll see you soon then.

She turned sugar looking to see if she could spot any tracks, but it seemed they were the only horses around so she moved further out, scanning the quiet land for any of the horses she took care of… what she saw first was a shape too wide to be a horse and she scowled… one of the cows was there, and sure enough since there was one three more were scattered nearby, the snow had been stamped out a little and Liliana rolled her eyes figuring this was where the cows stayed most of the storm. She hurried the horse away, figuring the fat animals would be just fine. They seemed to have found it fine there, and horses tended to move often. Whistling for the mare Liliana continued at a quick trot, but still finding nothing. She knew that her horse was not tame and still wild so it scared her that she probably did run off the second she had the chance, even though Liliana had always given her the chance. Either that or she was not with in earshot. Soon they came up to a few more shapes, this time it was Strawberry, one of the more docile horses, and near her there were two more, one of them Liliana recognized as one of J’adore’s and the other… was Buck, the one she had been having trouble with, and here he was in a stance ready to ward Liliana off his newly made herd.

Come on you don’t want to do this,

Liliana said in a straight voice, her eyes on the stallion, she didn’t feel as confident as she would when Grace was around, but she had to deal with it. She could tell the stallion was in no mood for any “games”. Liliana made no move though. She sat there, if anything Nayati would come with the rope that would help secure the wild horse and get him safely home.
