Nothing I Can Do

OOC here!

J'adore had been drinking a glass of water when Sky said the words. Words that, in the end, would lead to the misery of all. It would have been a comical sight to see the golden male spit out a mawful of water, if the situation was not so tense. Death had made the supposed happy time in Sky's house. While his mate slept, the small, White thing he feared for died. It was inevitable, although the small pup was wrapped in thick layers and nestled into Valinta; it was an accumulation of things that led to her death. If only it had be the cold! She wouldn't have succumbed. He felt sorrier for his mate, who was so young. He and the others, being older and knowing what the complications were, held their breaths as they waited. They, par from Valinta, knew what would happen, despite their prayers. He hated himself for his lack of tears as Valinta's own soaked the small White body. How ironic the girl's coat was snow White. He now hated snow, he wanted to murder it, turn the snowy flakes scarlet red. He was now sat in Sky's house; Valinta curled up still cradling her offspring, he himself sat at the other side of the room, all he could do was watch. She wasn't even crying any more, she was just staring. Wordless and emotionless, on the outside, he knew she was dying on the inside. Her jigsaw pendant hung down so it fell just below Gloria's paws. Gloria, the name she had chosen after he inquired. Between sobs she explained her dream and request that be the girl’s name. He only nodded, not caring. Names weren't important, not at that time. Now his mind was clearer, he thought over the name and smilled a little every time he whispered it to himself. He picked himself up and moved across the room, slowly and deliberate, fast movements would only startle the ebony femme, so focus on the dead. He crouched beside her, sliding down so his legs lay length ways and Valinta's head would sat in his lap, if she moved up. His white eyes fell onto the pups white fur. He hadn't even held her yet, Valinta had been so careful with her, he didn't want to stress her out. As if she read his mind, she pulled herself up so she leant against him, mimicking his position sloppily. She carefully lifted the bundle of flesh and blanket up and placed her in his lap. She still used her two fingers to caress the tiny white and baby pink paws. The child was albino, Valinta had checked, on the order of Sky. They had been a rich Dahlia colour. Time didn’t move for a while, the hours blended together for the pair. Everybody else moved on, still sad, but still moving on. J’adore would cremated Gloria when the snow cleared, they would keep the ashes, as Valinta had instructed between tears. There was nothing he could do now, just as there had been nothing he could do then. The powerful, proud, courageous, golden man finally felt a tear slide down his face. Why had it taken so long for the tears to come?
