She had risen lazily, sleeping longer than intended, and longer than she probably should have. The tawny girl had been slow to awaken and gather her things, taking her time on this fine-weathered day. Lennon had wandered not far off, finding a heft patch of mostly dried grass to idly munch upon. He seemed in no hurry to get away from her, and for that Sage was happy.

With a yawn, she loaded up her packs, remembering to bring along those prettily formed, mostly translucent crystals that she'd found in the caves of Inferni. Most of them were colorless, but a few were a very attractive sky blue, and the Lykoi child assumed they would make good offerings for Anathema. She'd learned something of the significance of these stones to the d'Angelo family's religious practices, so perhaps they'd be of some use to the cult-based pack. In addition, she'd brought a nicely carved bone knife and the small beginnings of a healthy Aloe vera plant, for healing purposes.

There was some fear in her, of course, to travel to Anathema. The boy they had killed had been about her age; though he hadn't been the brightest star, she'd learned. Nonetheless, it was with a bit of apprehension that she called Lennon towards her and loaded up the packs, climbing gently onto the large equine's back. With a glance around her and a deep breath, she whispered softly to him in low speech.

"Don't be afraid, boy, they don't have to be our enemies, remember..." came her sweet voice, a hand reaching forward to stroke his soft mane, though the words were more for herself than him.

Having set off mid-morning and traveled at a leisurely, but efficient trot, Sage arrived near Anathema's borders in good time. The sun was above the pair, but the shade from the sparse trees they rested under kept them in some shadow. The moment the girl had scented the markings of this pack, she had slowed Lennon to a stop, not wanting to make any impression that she might want to trespass.

Yellow eyes slid to the goods packed away behind her, and she sighed, slightly nervous as she let out several distinctly coyote-like yips, her message friendly to anyone who would hear it. Like each of her visits to other lands, her calls were not urgent or needy. They were messages that politely requested a presence, and nothing more.

Without much haste, Sage retrieved a long and nicely rolled joint from her satchel, lighting the end with a match and hungrily inhaling the smoke. She happily let the smoke fill her lungs, enjoying the slight burn before exhaling. Oh, it felt good. And what better to make her forget her nerves and relax than her favorite herb?

ooc;; sorry for the wait bobbi! <33

His life had becom mostly uneventful as of late and Theodore Stone could not have been happier for it. The snowstorm had brought all the drama he needed for a while it it only left him to ponder on it. Selene had been trapped in an avalanche and Pontiac had caused them all a lot of troble by becoming strandedin Inferni for the duration of the weather. Of course, it had been a message to the Anathemans that Inferni were not enemies. It was a hard truth for the young black male to accept- he was all ready to place all the blame with the coyote's and be done with it. It was much simpler to just think they were all evil and out to get them. He had also taken out a hunting party to round up stray animals and their harvest had been good. Teddy was very tempted to claim one of the three horses he had captured as his own and learn how to ride the thing.

For now he was happy to patrol the borders and try to avoid Demi. Their clash had left him unsure of what was going on between them and he didnt want to drive her further away than she already was. His move to the much larger Rakeeb den had given them more distance and that was okay with the black man for now. Still, slowly walking along with edges of the pack lands and reinforcing the scent marks wherever they seemed weaker, the man was a little bored. There had been a lot of drama with the snow storm and he hadnt yet come down from it. And his elation to Rakeeb was still not wearing off. He felt good about himself for once.

Sharp black ears twitched forward as the faint yip-like coyote call brought his attention back. Inferni perhaps. Last time he had dealt with the two Inferni leaders with Naniko. He wasnt entirely sure where she was or what she was doing. He might have to do this one alone. Rolling his shoulders he felt the crinkle of the blue shirt on his fur. He had been getting colder these past few days and so he'd adorned himself with more clothes than usual. Of course, more clothes meant more hiding places for weapons and Teddy had concealed all three of his daggers in various places around his body. He was not going unprotected. It took him just a few minutes to reach the borders, the scent of herbs heavy in the air.

"You requested an audience? Theodore Stone, Rakeeb of Anathema."

He introduced himself, remembering his words to the rest of Anathema. They were not to start conflict with the coyotes, they were not to be treated as enemies. Still, the dark man couldnt help taking the protective stance, arms crossed over his chest and feet spaced evenly apart. He didnt think the female and her horse were here for dark purposes, but he wasnt taking any chances.

No worries at all, I'm not usually at all fast. Also, short! WC: 312

The hippie Lykoi girl didn't wait long, but in her mind it had been an eternity. She was second-guessing herself for coming here, where the members had so far seemed just as hostile as Inferni itself, but she tried to remain optimistic. How could anyone act nasty to such a lighthearted and well-meaning young lady?

As the dark man emerged from the trees, the girl swallowed hard. A large, strongly dark man with ivory-dipped paws and hauntingly blue eyes. His appearance spoke volumes of the stereotype she so unfortunately held. The lands here even had a similar sort of strangely negative energy, like what she sometimes felt in Inferni. It made her uncomfortable, but she hoped it didn't show.

"You requested an audience? Theodore Stone, Rakeeb of Anathema." he said simply, bothering not with flashy speech or busy introductions. His posture was defensive, closed. It almost pained the Lykoi girl to see it; her own posture was almost always warm and welcoming.

Clearing her throat with a bit of a squeak, Sage piped up happily: "Hi there; I certainly did. Thank you for responding, Theodore. I am Sage River Lykoi, of Inferni." She didn't bother to give her rank as he had; the hierarchy he spoke of was foreign to her, as hers would be to him.

With a brief, slightly nervous glance around, she dismounted and approached him slowly, cautiously, taking a puff of the joint as she moved. She emptied her lungs into the wind before she spoke. "I've come extending a friendly hand towards Anathema, on behalf of Inferni," sh said, her voice warm, soft, and gentle.

The man didn't seem hostile, but she could never be certain, and so kept a few feet away just in case. Sage had no real way to defend herself, besides mounting Lennon and running any confrontation. Hopefully, though, that problem wouldn't arise.

She was still mounted on the horse she had brought with her and Teddy was forcefully reminded of the pale woman and the skittish horse she had brought with her and promptly trespassed on Anatheman land. The horse this coyote brought with her today was nothing like the other, Jack, and Teddy was just a little disappointed. He would have no need to scare the horse away- he was placid and docile with the woman atop his back. Still, the offending stench of drugs pushed against his sensative nose and Teddy turned his head away to catch a gulp of fresh air. He wasnt exactly pro-drugs and he was trying his best not to take offense to the female who was responsible for the stench in the air. She of course didnt know that he didnt like the stuff and therefore would have no need to not smoke it. She seemed a little apprehensive as he approached, rightfully so.

Her high pitched squeak and following voice were a little sharp against his ears and he allowed them to slick back against his head. He had already suspected where she was from and the scent matched, but the word of Inferni caused a rush of blood around his body that was both hot and reminiscent. He and Naniko might have killed her brother, or her uncle or cousin or father, for all he knew. He assumed they were all inbred, but he didnt understand that their packs were similar. While Inferni was overrun with Lyoi's, Theodore's own pack was covered in D'Angelo's. Still the jerking nod of his head was given in a first line of response to her words. He didnt need to comment on them- she had told him who she was and where she was from and also that it was her that had called him. That was all he needed to know and she shouldnt need a reponse for it.

Blue eyes watched as she dismounted, the stark white strip on his head almost disappearing as she puffed on the drugs, causing his eyesbrows to crease. If she blew it in his face he would most certainly have to be forced to remove her from the lands, and she might not be so lucky as the previous offender. Izaak had, of course, had his ear ripped off and his muzzle completely mangaled before Naniko had dealt the killing blow. But he could have drawn it out for much longer. Still, his words haunted him and he forced the violent images to stay down as he remembered telling his own pack to keep the peace. She stopped in front of him and spoke. The white streak on his forehead was revelaed as eyebrows rose for a moment. A peaceful hand?

"And they sent you? Interesting. Why would Inferni wish to make peace with us? You sent spies into our dens."

His voice was hard and unforgiving, blue eyes steely. He was not going to be an easy male to persuade and the young coyote had her work cut out. But perhaps if she could get past his rough exterior to see that he really and truely cared about his pack and what happened to it, she might be able to get what she needed across. Peace.

The girl wasn't naive or unobservant; she noticed his movement, his brow creasing and then raising again. It was clear to her that this man named Theodore was unsure of her. That was alright, she supposed, considering all the things that Inferni tended to represent in other minds. Should he really need to be surprised, though, that one in their ranks might desire to make the world a more peaceful place? That was a shame.

"And they sent you? Interesting. Why would Inferni wish to make peace with us? You sent spies into our dens." he said with a bit of a scoff, clearly still bitter about the whole incident.

"Well..." she started, unsure of how to tackle this strange situation, presented with a man who didn't even seem to want her company in the first place. "No one really sent sent me here," she admitted, "I... sort of... came of my own accord" Yellow eyes rose hopefully to meet his, wondering whether this had been a foolish thing to admit or not. "Inferni doesn't need more war, though, Theodore..." she explained, her voice touched with sadness at the mere thought of the Dahlian War she'd encountered, even if briefly.

The girl paused a moment, glancing around, as if pleading to the earth Mother to give her some guidance, some assistance to help her through this rather sticky situation. In the background, Lennon snorted mildly, clearly a bit bored, and began sniffing around for any remaining living greenery to nibble on.

"I didn't know Izaak," she said, her voice soft, gentle, and somewhat unsure, "but all I've been told is that he wasn't the brightest boy; I've no idea why he'd come here, and I've even less idea why someone would send him here. It is not our aim, despite our reputation, to make enemies with every person who crosses our path." She didn't want to seem mean or disrespectful towards the dead; she was simply stating a fact. The girl shifted her weight uncomfortably, glancing down at her feet, pawing uselessly at the ground. Her eyes raised again to his hard, piercing ones. "I think we'd both gain more from being allies than enemies." she said finally, hoping that he might see the logic in this, even despite his prejudice and distaste for the clan.

They both appeared a little unsure of the situation, that was for sure. Neither of them willing to take the leap to lead the conversation properly, although the female who proclaimed herself to be Sage was making a valiant attempt and trying to get out what she was trying to say. There was bad air between Inferni and Anathema and the young black Rakeeb was still trying to convince himself that they didnt need a war on their hands. Of course, war ran in his blood and the male loved nothing more than spilling the blood of another animal. And since the attempt on their dens, coyote blood was preferred. But here was this female, extending a hand to say that they were sorry and they wanted peace. Naniko was probably the better of the two leaders to deal with this kind of a request, but Teddy knew he had to do it. It was good for him once in a while to see things differently.

She began to speak and Teddy rolled his shoulders to ease them out of the stiffness holding his back rigid. She didnt seem to pose a threat and although he really wanted to keep on his alert, his instincts were telling him that she did come in peace. Her admittance however shocked him and he couldnt help but choke back a small laugh to himself. A rebel in their ranks? How would Gabriel and his mother take that? If they hadnt sent her however, how could he be sure it would hold up? She wasnt here on official terms and therefore might not have a voice if the two packs clashed again.

"Even if I do accept your offer of peace, what makes you sure it will be accepted by your leaders? You came here of your own accord, without their permission. Surely such insolency will be punished?"

He wasnt trying to pick holes in her offer of peace, he really wasnt. But it seemed to come anyway and there was really nothing he could do about it. Her yellow eyes had raised for a moment to meet his and Teddy felt the familiar rise in dominant aggression. It was rude to stare at another wolf and she would do well to remember that. Before her eye contact had become long enough to be considered staring she lowered her gaze and spoke again- giving him the only piece of information he didnt know about the coyote they had killed. His name. Izaak. Interesting. But her words after that made little sense to Teddy. The coyote had clearly been spying and he had paid the price for that.

"Perhaps it was a clever plan- send in a halfwit who might not really understand what is going on and pick his brains when he returns. But it matters not- he was disposed of correctly. Anathema does not wish to make enemies when we are so young, but we will not be stomped over by anyone."

His voice was firm if not a little pleading. She might not have known the boy, but some part of Teddy wanted her to know why they had killed her pack mate. Maybe it was because they had been blessed with human knowledge of speach and logic, but it also brought on a whole host of emotions that the male would rather live without. Though not guilt, his voice was laced with a need to have her know that it wasnt mindless killing. It was for a purpose and a message to be sent. Though young they were a force to be reckoned with. She spoke again, a sentence that seemed far beyound her youth. She was a smart one and Theodore had to respect her at least.

"I agree that our packs would be better allies than enemies- we are closer together than most. But how exactly do you propose we improve connections between our packs?"

It was her proposition and she should be willing to defend it. If she couldnt come up with a suitable means for them to improve their relationship with the coyotes, then her plea would be dismissed. Simple as that.

<3 Big Grin I dunno if I like the last...three paragraphs, lmao. If you want me to change anything lemme know! It's a bit weird. I literally tried for like an entire hour to figure out what I wanted to say there...>< WC: 565

Sage couldn't emulate a mind what wanted war, whose own blood craved other blood, but she supposed she might have to try. It was clear that this man would be hard to impress, let alone hard to convince. The young hippie girl wouldn't back down from such a challenge, though. Despite her willingness to rise to the challenge, her body was still unsure, and Sage felt the dryness in her throat as she listened to him speak, felt him appraising her. She nodded as his wariness increased, his questioning penetrating and curious.

"Kaena and Gabriel know what I do, what I am doing," she started, her voice managing to rise and steady itself in response. She would not be some feeble, mousy thing begging for good to come. Clearing her scratchy throat, her posture rose slightly, with her confidence. "I certainly wouldn't knowingly oppose them. I am no traitor, sir, but neither do I want to be an enemy."

Theodore launched into some anecdote about how Izaak got what he deserved, and Sage politely declined to respond, simply giving a solemn nod. She did not want to start arguments over things that had passed months ago. That would be truly counterproductive.

The man before was certainly not the most hostile person she'd ever met, but his aura was intimidating, and his surely dark past colored his face with shadow. His voice rose again, this time with something more promising. He asked how she would do it; and, well, she would tell him.

"I realize there is some tension now, but I don't believe Inferni is in want of another war. We've seen enough, for now, I think?" she said, the pitch in her voice rising as she gave a small smile at her own clearly rhetorical question. She glanced down at the dead joint between her fingers, lifting it slightly to be sure it was gone and then frowning and tossing it away.

"You seem like a reasonable lot," For the most part, she thought, eyes wandering again as words came to her. "I feel like we are not much different; both Inferni and Anathema don't want trouble, but neither would back down when provoked. We could both use allies. We could open lines for trade, too; I myself like to dabble in herbs..." she paused for a moment, holding a finger out and scurrying to Lennon to retrieve her bag. "I brought some things," she said as she reached him.

When she returned, she dug inside of it and retrieved the small but thriving plant, unwrapping it and showing it to him. "I grew this one; it's a good plant for helping to heal burns, scrapes, cuts...anything, really." She held it out to him as a vague offering, and thrust her hand back into the bag again, this time retrieving two of the small, light blue colored crystals. She knew they held significance to their clan's practices in some way, though she wouldn't know whether or not Theodore practiced such things. "You can use these?" she asked, hopeful.

"Either way, I think our close distance would be beneficial, should we choose to make it so." she finished, hoping that he might consider her words acceptable, though knowing in her heart that even if he didn't, she had given it her best attempt.
