The voice was scaring and confusing her.

Wretch opened one eye, but the other wouldn't allow her to. She felt heavy, as if she were matted to whatever she was laying on. Her memory was fuzzy at best; what had she been doing before she had ended up on this beach? She tried to lift her head but found herself unable, a pounding headache making her close her one good eye. What was the voice saying to her? 'Get up, Get up, open your eyes'. She heard it over and over again. The little girl felt afraid, not knowing where she was or how she got there...or anything besides the one word that stuck in her mind. Wretch.

She had been exploring one of the caves along the shoreline between Inferni and Dahlia, having fun going through all of the tunnels and playing in the water in the bottom of a few of the caverns. The pup hadn't expected the rush of water that had come through and knocked her from her feet, sending her shooting toward the back of the tunnel and then backward out the front of it. She had been thrown against sharp rocks and had been pushed and pulled beneath the waves so many, many times that she hadn't been able to recognize which way was up and which way was down any more. The experience had ended in darkness.

Her mind formulated words, but she couldn't get her jaw to move to say them. Was something wrong with it? She lay on her side in the sand, waves still creeping up around her every once in a while...though they were beginning to retreat. She was stuck there, fur crusted with sand, blood, and salt, unable to stand or move anything except for her eye. When she moved to stick her tongue out to lick her lips she felt a sudden crackle. Her jaw was fractured.

The girl began to cry, then, softly and then harder. Her body shook with both shivers and sobs, though the sounds that she made were muffled. She was beginning to feel the pain more now, her head and jaw hurting even more. Her leg was beginning to ache as well, sharp pains traveling up through her ankle and toward her hips. It was probably good that she couldn't see herself; bone was sticking out of her skin where it was broken.

She tried to open her eye again but was unable to manage that feat, her mind slipping in and out of unconsciousness. It was a shock to her entire body, and the cold wasn't helping; she shook and shook as she continued to cry out, water continuing to rush around her legs and tail every couple of seconds. Someone had to come...someone would come.

The late afternoon sun was growing stronger each day. Though it was still defined as spring it seemed unnaturally warm out. Saul had spent the day moving around the lands of Dahlia, picking up various planks of wood that he was soon going to make a bed out of. He'd managed to find a single metal frame a few days ago and had placed it in one of the three spares rooms he had on the ground floor of his house. Though the fourth was technically Siku's the white princess spent more time curled up against his side than she did in her own room. Slowly but surely, the two of them were getting the house together. Saul had finally decided to go for the co-rank of Apothecary and had converted one of the other bedrooms into his medical store for now. He was beginning to collect plants and other healing material, bottling and meticulously labelling them for future use. He'd already proved himself twice- one with Nayru and her poorly stitched head and another with the female from Cour des Miricales who had damaged her wrist in the snow storm. He was getting better, he just needed Conor to see it.

The last sun was warming the windows of the large cabin the timber male had built, heating the air within to a comfortable temperature. Saul looked up from his vantage point on the floor of his bedroom. He'd created a large box so far, roughly the size of a king sized bed. He would add legs and slats to it later to support a mattress he had pilched from a house in Halifax. The matress was a little old, but when were you ever going to find anything new from the humans nowdays? He was busy working, but the sun was tempting him outside. With a huff and a smile, Saul yanked on some shorts and a blue t-shirt before he stretched and exited the house.

Although he was tempted to run, Saul walked along the rivers edge, heading west towards the borders. Whisper Beach was very close to the delta of Oberons Spring and Saul was more than happy to follow it down till the very edge of the borders. Looping back round and heading south along the beach Saul intended to cross the expande of the beach, reach the harbor and see if Gideon was fishing. He hadn't seen his younger brother for days now and he still hadn't tracked him down for the scars on his arms. Keen ears thought they heard a sound but he dismissed it as the sea. If he hadn't see the raised lump on the sand, he would never have known she was there. Scent masked but crusted sand and salt on her fur, she looked in a bad way even from here.

Hello? Hello, can you hear me?

His concerned voice was laced with fear. Her breathing was so shallow and the bone protruding from her leg looked horrible. Creamy white hands moved gently over the little pups face, pulling up her eyelid to see if she was still conscious. Hoping she might be able to talk, Saul crouched beside her, critical mind moving fast.

The cold pile of bones and fur shook, twitching, teeth almost chattering from the cold that she felt. A voice brought her back to the surface of her sub-conscience and she managed to creak one green eye open for a few seconds before shutting it firmly. From where she lay she couldn't see anyone...it was just another voice. Another bit of insanity. There was no one around.

But then she sensed movement, paws making deep prints in the sand next to her body. Wind whipped over her, picking up a bit of sand and sending the stranger's scent into her twitching nose, though it didn't catch hold of her soaked fur. She tried to shout, tried to speak, but pain shot through her muzzle when she did. She made a muffled sound of distress, small yips to show him that she wasn't completely gone yet.

At first there was no movement. Though the man could feel slight intakes of breath in the pups side, this was perhaps the only indication that she was still alive. Green eyes caught sight of another flash of green that was not his own and Saul took a deep breath of relief. She was still alive and she could open an eye at least. Hands moved over her body, checking her heart rate. He didnt go anywhere near the broken bone yet, knowing it would be far too painful for him to touch for the moment. His words had appeared to wake her and the series of mumbles and whines indicated that there was something wrong with her jaw. He moved round, gentle fingers probing at her mouth, so gently he hoped he hadnt hurt her.

"Don't worry sweety, we'll fix you up!"

He murmered, trying to inject some cheer into his voice. It was clear the little pale puppy was terrified and badly damaged. He hoped his medical expertise would be of some use. He needed to pick her up and take her back to his cabin to fix her up, but he was afraid that he would damage her more if he just lifted her up. Glancing down at his t-shirt, he ripped it off quickly. Laying it flat on the sand he moved to shuffle her slowly onto the material. He knew he was hurting her, but it would be over soon. Pale hands stroked pale fur as he moved to comfort the little puppy.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you..."

Came his worried voice as he wrapped the t-shirt firmly around her body. It wasnt nearly supportive enough for his liking but there was nothing he could do about that. Wrapped in the t-shirt he made an attempt to pick her up, strong arms flat to stop any jostling or bending of bones already broken. This little puppy was seriously damaged and he hoped he could mend her again.

She was finally pulled from the grips of the ocean. The girl would likely learn to fear the sea as she got older, perhaps even the flow or trickle of water itself. Wretch was young, and such a traumatic experience would have a lifelong effect on her. For now she remembered nothing except for her name, which she would be unable to pronounce in the days to come...but others knew of her and would likely come seeking her.

The girl couldn't even clench her teeth as she was picked carefully up from the sand, whining as her body involuntarily twitched against the pain. She was a small girl, wolfish with a few coyote features, but she felt more pain in those moments than some adults would feel in their lifetimes. Things would get better for her in the days to come as she was stabilized and kept warm, beginning the very first few steps of her healing process.

Wretch had one final thought before she drifted back into the semi-conscious state that she had been in before. Who was this Luperci who had discovered her? Who was he? Her nose worked against his fur for a few moments, taking in his strong scent. She would try and remember this...remember that he was the one who had taken her from the ocean's grasp and helped her.

As he expected, the girl gave a whine and a small squeek as she was lifted off the ground. Even supported by his t-shirt wrapped firmly around her and his strong arms holding true, she was bond to be in some kind of pain. It was obvious what had happend to her- she'd been playing by the beach and had got sucked inby the waves. It was a miricle she was still live let alone severly damaged. Still, this didnt answer the question of who she was and where she'd come from. The sea had done an excellent job of washing away any and all scents that might have clung to her pale fur. She was just another loner in his eyes it seemed. He couldnt help the small and sympathetic smile race across his lips as she turned her head and took a deep sniff of his fur. Perhaps she was remembering for later. As they stepped truely into Dahlian territory, Saul paused for just a second. Would Conor mind?

"Welcome to Dahlia sweety..."

He murmered before stepping fully into his home land. His mind was racing to think of all the things he would need to fix her. He'd need to knock her out, that was for sure. He had a small amount of poppy seeds that could be lit to almost knock an adult wolf out. He was mostly sure it would work on a puppy. He was definitely sure that he wasn going anywhere near he bad injuries with her conscious. She was too young to feel that kind of pain. He needed to figure out what to do with her broken leg. They no longer had the plaster casts that humans of old had, he would have to figure something out. And like that, they were at the cabin and he was laying her on the small bed, so gently he hoped he hadnt jostled her. He had a long night ahead of him, that was for sure.
