Word Count: 558 | This is not a mandatory thread to reply to, but I am playing as if everyone is present.

Each movement was made deliberately. Gabriel’s shoulder caused him immeasurable pain with each step, but he had been warned about shifting to his Optime form for fear of what might happen to the bones and muscles with the change. Yet he had made his way to the Mansion with only minor difficulty, Enkiel at his side to study his movements. The swelling had reduced some, but it was still raw and painful. Numerous other cuts plagued his body, but none of them were deeper than a flesh wound. It was lucky he had survived at all; Marlowe had not, his smaller form crushed by the stones that had brought the mountain down on them.

Halo was at the entrance when he arrived, and came out to meet him. He imagined he saw worry in her eyes, but dismissed it. After all, Gabriel had been her age when the leadership had been thrust on him. She would either rise to meet it or falter. The trio settled on the porch and Gabriel called for the clan, his voice still rough and gravely but no longer painful. The jackal’s medicine was doing its duty well.

One by one they came, and ignoring what looks he gathered for his wounds, and certainly ignoring his mother, the wolfish Aquila began to speak. “I’ve called you here to announce several things; first and foremost that Kaena has stepped down from her role as a leader,” he paused momentarily, feeling the half-truth singe his mouth. “As an elder, you are to treat her with the same respect you have in the past. Those of you who are not yet within the Immunes ranks are to assist her with whatever she requires. The leadership will rely on her suggestions as to what roles you best fall into.” Another pause, this time to clear a throat still raw from the earth. “As of today, Halo serves as our new Centurion. She has proven her strength to us all and shown loyalty that is unquestioned.”

Gabriel shifted his weight, taking it on his right side. Seated as he was, it was a minor and almost invisible move. Weakness was something he did not wish to show. “Last night the path that leads to Occasus Promontorium collapsed. This is the second rockslide that has occurred since the mountains were claimed, and I will not see anyone else hurt by them.” He spared a glance to Sage, recalling the warning he had given and how it had been ignored. She had gotten off lucky. They both had.

“With that in mind, our territory his shifting to the west. It will give us lands further away from wolves, especially now that a pack has taken up residence in the hills and already killed one of our own.” The Ulrich’s had suffered as well, and after Itzal’s betrayal, he had no faith that Anathema would be kind to them. “We will keep our borders save the northern one. I have sent my son to mark the new borders—his scent is close enough to mine to be recognizable. Those of you with horses will be able to explore quickly, and I suggest you do so and let the rest of us know what you find.”

With that the Aquila settled into silence, waiting for the questions he certainly knew would come.

Makhesthai was working his small body to its limit yet again when he heard the Aquila's call strong and proud echo through the small clearing he had found. The young Tirones Minor cocked his head to the side and listened to the call until it ended and then immediately set off towards it direction. He moved swiftly and silently in his small but bigger than lupus, secui form, the ground and distance falling away rapidly under him, eaten up by his rapidly expanding paws and increasingly powerful muscles that bunched under his fire hued orange pelt, his intense blue eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of danger.

Eventually he reached the place where the leader sat, the porch of the Mansion that the young coybrid had not yet gained the confidence and courage to enter, with his stood the beautiful but dangerous female coyote Halo and another male who he had not met who was colored in muted tones of gold and black with red eyes. He slowed as he approached, the first one to answer the call apart from those three. He bowed his head respectfully to both Gabriel and Halo, and gave the other male an acknowledging nod. Sitting his rump upon the ground he kept his silence and questions, the leader would most likely answer any that burned when the rest of Inferni got here, the new injuries on Gabriel did not go unnoticed.

Once everyone was arrived and accounted for the leader addressed them and Makhesthai listened to every word spoken, pretty much blocking out the other members of the clan around him. Kaena had stepped down? She had not mentioned this to him but then Maki supposed she didn't have to tell him anything. He was happy for Halo that she had ascended in rank and gave the femme a small smile. Although he did not know the place of the rockslide that the Aquila spoke of he made a note to ask one of the others where it was so he could avoid it. They were shifting to the west over to new territory and the idea of exploding more and more of the world was exciting to the pup. As the Aquila went quiet Maki gazed over his form thoughtfully, mulling over all spoken. The pup would not speak though, it was not his place to, the questions he wanted to ask would most likely be voiced by oler members who had earned the right to speak at clan meetings.

Talitha's there, and then Talitha leaves. Herp. So goes the merry-go-round. Also: CONGRATS, LIBRIFACE! 500+

She had not desired to go when the call was made, but knew it was wrong to keep her father waiting. A heavy sigh brought her from her work upon the now-rotting corpse that sat within the entrance of her den and frail body lifted from its place upon the ground, with removed skull still in hand. She hadn't finished cleaning it, but soon she'd take it to Ezekiel, in the hopes he would forgive her; it hung by the spine so carefully severed by rusted knife she'd found within Halifax, and swung ever so slightly as she made her way into the Forest of Nod to hear her father preach new news to his precious kingdom.

Crimson eyes watched from behind all the rest, focused solely on the face of her father as pain from newly-broken ribs flared up in her chest. Black-rimmed ears listened. Kaena was no longer a leader. Instead, much to the displeasure of the princess, her cousin took the place. Another reason for Halo to step upon the Aquila's eldest daughter as if she were a bug. It didn't affect the expression of apathy crossing the russet features, but clear distaste rose within ruby eyes. Her pacing stopped behind a figure, hiding as if unwilling to let the leadership see her. A delicate hand rose to rub at wounded chest in secrecy before she returned to her rounds in the background.

The new change in their territory was more interesting to Talitha than the rise to power of one born to outside forces; they were shifting away from wolves, ones who had killed the son of her German lover. She had encountered creatures from Anathema, one aggressive border-watcher, and was glad her father's intelligence hadn't slipped with his aging. She hadn't noticed her precious brother was absent until after Gabriel made the mention that he was marking northern borders; internally, she was disappointed. She hadn't seen him since his disappearance.

As the Aquila fell silent, she wondered what questions to voice, but found none. Instead, she moved closer, careful steps drawing her closer to the porch used as a pedestal. She only wanted to leave. A bone-shattering cough escaped creme muzzle and her gaze shifted from Gabriel's face to Halo's. Her disgust was restrained. "Congratulations, cousin. I'm sure you'll prove yourself worthy." The words held no venom, and despite her irritation, she was sincere. Halo had stood strong alongside Inferni when others had left. Talitha was proud, somewhat, to call the female her family.

Again her gaze moved to Gabriel, and all distaste of her cousin disappeared, leaving the customary sorrow that filled the woman. Her voice dropped, not wanting to disrupt the movement of the meeting. "Would God be angry if I left your announcement early...daddy?" she whispered, using the parental moniker she had not openly said to the man for quite some time. She'd failed God, but she had tried to make amends; only Gabriel would be able to tell her if it was okay, of course.

So Hybrid is basically an old school mafia hit man. (512)

[html]

Hybrid was genuinely surprised to hear that Kaena had stepped down, but less so to hear of Halo’s ascension to the rank of Centurion. He supposed it was logical given that she was – or had been – the Triarii of the clan and therefore one of the most battle-proven. He recognized that he and Kesho probably had seen the most of all the coyotes here, but also understood that his place was not among the leaders. He was here to serve Gabriel and as long as that was his purpose, he was content doing whatever the Aquila thought best.

Soon, Gabriel addressed the other members of the clan, all who fell beneath the Diocese in the Immunes ranks. Hybrid wondered if there were any more who would join him as Hydra; he hoped Gabriel would choose to mention it to him before promoting anyone. He didn’t want to have to work with another Sepirah or a Talitha; that was for certain. And he certainly did not want to work with an Ezekiel. Fucking kids had no respect these days. He was content with Kesho by his side as a Hydra. He knew he couldn’t trust the old coyote like he did Gabriel, but they were united with a basic understanding of how Inferni worked. They were, quite simply, old school.

Gabriel also revealed a major territory shift due to a collapse on the mountainside. He frowned when Gabriel mentioned he would not let anyone else be hurt by it and realized Gabriel was the one who had been injured. Now that Hybrid looked closely, he realized Gabriel was showing signs of injury. He frowned, but still remained silent. He wished he could have been there to assist his Aquila, but he knew there was nothing he could have done. At the most, he could have chewed off a broken or infected limb, but that was as far as his skills extended. He chuckled twice, quietly, to himself at this thought, but otherwise said nothing.

At the mention of the mountain pack to the west, Hybrid’s expression darkened. Perhaps now he should mention that white wolf he’d found wandering around a little too close for his liking.

“I found a wolf,” he began quietly. “White, odd eyes. She said she meant no harm, said she was looking for you -- and Kaena. We’ve got liars too close for my liking,” he explained with a low growl. “And madmen a little too close, too, Gabriel. If I might speak with you after…” He certainly did not want the rest of Inferni to be privy to the information he would divulge. They did not need to know of the crimes Gabriel’s boy had committed; not just yet.

As Hybrid glanced around, he noticed his bitch of a niece’s expression: pure disgust. He felt himself growling, low and quiet in the back of his throat as she shot Gabriel a vicious look. He didn’t like her and he didn’t like how she looked at her father. She should pay for her crimes, but he couldn’t touch her.

It was clear that tragedy had not ceased after the snow storm had. Things were not quite back to normal yet, even though there had been plenty of time that had passed since all of that devastating snow fall. The young Russian remained inside the mansion, only to head outside once the Aquila called for him and everyone else that chose loyalty to the clan. Halo was already there when he arrived, and the boy’s icy gaze greedily stole over her appearance, before he made his way down the steps and off of the porch; he knew that it was not his place to remain there, for he was not significant enough to have all of Inferni’s eyes upon him. Silas didn’t mind though, for his location down in front of his leaders, along with the other coyotes of Inferni, gave him the perfect vantage point of his love, and he could easily disguise his admiration of her as loyal attention to the matters at hand. He could not help it if the girl so easily filled his thoughts.

However, this was not to say that Gabriel’s words went unnoticed. The Russian truly did acknowledge the Aquila’s words, and nodded slowly in response to them. Though others found the need to speak, the Equites did not think it was his place to. Instead, ice went from the golden gaze of his leader to find crimson. He hoped that she would see this, so that he could offer her a silent grin to signal his congratulations.

Persona- Vesper

When the Aquila's call sounded, although a fairly new member, Vesper came as any proud Infernian would. Sarajevo left his work untidy, as he also felt it was his duty to listen to what the Aquila had to say. The stallion Vesper kept was eager to journey with the pair and although he could not be ridden, he was a welcome companion.

At the actual meeting, Vesper stood close by, listening to her superior's words. The white stallion had stayed away from the meeting, as it was canine buisness he had no intrest in. As the female that greeted her spoke up, she nodded and added, 'Yes'. Although she had never met the woman before, she felt sure that all would go smoothly. After the Aquila would not lie to his people. Her agreement was sincere, she had faith in this woman who she had not yet met.

Sarajevo's small Lupus form struggled to stay strongly at his mother's side. All he wanted to do was redirect his gaze to his mother's bi-colored coat, but his gaze was fixed on the scarred Aquila. Though he feared most canines with scars, it did not faulter his loyalty to the clan and it's Aquila.

Ima hadn't been present for any of these unfortunate events. He only knew good things about this place. Granted he didn't know everyone there were a few that he had met before. And with those he had gotten along. He remembered this Kaena though hadn't known her to be leader at the time that he had met her. They had worked together on something else. Or actually him and others had done the work while she had directed as to what had to be done. Still, without her the building at the back of this lot would not be standing as it was.

Also, since this was a meeting, Ima had to resist the urge to run around and scent all of those that he hadn't met previously. This wasn't the time or place to do any of that. No, most certainly not. But later maybe he could catch them and find out just who they were. But he even had to shove that thought to the back of his mind so that he could pay attention to what was going on around.

He had come through the west to get here actually. He had passed through the area that was being spoken of. He hadn't really paid attention to anything there. "I have wagon... a wagon. I have a wagon." He was still working on his dialect but he was getting better on elaborating on those clipped statements that he would give. But since only a single border was being shifted it probably wouldn't be needed to move. But if more scouts were needed then it could haul bodies in the least. After all he hadn't thought it all the way through when he had spoken up. Him only speaking on a vague notion that he might be able to help and be of some use.

derp!

She already knew what would be said, and so thankfully that meant that it was not obligatory for her voice to be heard today. Today of all days. She was a bitch with self insight, and carried the same doubts that she imagined Gabriel did. It was not glorious to take over the rank that rightfully belonged to her grandmother. Once she had imagined such a moment as this, but there was no magic attached to it. Once again a sign that reality rarely could match the beauty of imagination. It was definitely an honour to stand right next to her Aquila, but the taste of victory was not quite there.

Halo’s form remained optime, contrasting the appearance of the clan leader, but she was careful not to let her spine stretch to match the level of his head. She did not feel quite comfortable at the moment, but in her silly daydreams she had floated on golden wings with pride. It was just strange.

Ruby hues shallowly inspected the participants in the meeting and refused to linger with anyone. There were new faces, as always, and it bothered her. Eventually her gaze settled on her doggish leader, the man that still wore marks from the accident that had led to the decision to move their borders. Talitha offered congratulations, but Halo did not even ponder whether or not they were sincere. She believed she had caught a glance of discontentment earlier on, but would not bother to investigate this further. The dislike between them was mutual anyway.

Crimson eyes travelled and stopped when they caught ice. She felt better instantly.

Aeron found herself at a meeting. She hadn't met anyone and it made her uneasy to be here among so many. Maybe it was what happened to her in the last month of her being in her clan that made her not like large groups or what. She listened though. She had no idea that wolves were a problem. She found wolves to be helpful or just as reliable.

Listening to Hybrid speak and the leader as well. She found herself very lost. the only thing she understood was that the woman Halo was now a high ranking member, and the old woman she had met was just and elder. She wasn't caring much about the wolf thing. Well at least she now knew wolves were bad.

Derp, this is a crap post despite it's length! Lmao. I didn't know if Kaena was here, so I made it sort of ambiguous?

It pained Sage to see her uncle, her Aquila, in such pain. His wounds were fresh and raw, Sage noticed, and nearly winced in empathy as he moved. As she stood, waiting anxiously to hear his words, she could only wonder who had done this, why, and what would happen next. Everyone gathered quickly, and Sage sat staring about her, yellow eyes finding her sisters', filled with sadness.

What Gabriel announced was nothing she would have expected, though perhaps she should have. Grandmother was no longer going to lead. With a gasp, she acknowledged this, eyes roaming again to try to find Kaena amongst them. Who would go in her place? How would Inferni survive without their wise, grizzled leader? Why would grandmother have stepped down? Was she really so old and frail, now? Sage's brow furrowed in worry for her grandmother, one of the few here besides her sisters that she was close to. The young Lykoi girl surely hoped that Kaena was not in any serious pain or danger.

The Aquila next announced the answer to Sage's question. Halo would take Kaena's place. Sage's eyebrows raised slightly, yellow eyes sliding to the new Centurion with curiosity, a pleasant smile creeping across her face, nodding in respect and acknowledgment. Of course she'd been the first choice; cousin Halo had long been loyal to Inferni, and she carried that deadly strength that they so often seemed to need in a leader. She was a bit discouraged by the continuance of the pattern of violence in the leadership, but it was not her choice. Clearing her throat softly, the girl remained silent and still, atop the large breathing beast named Lennon, whom she'd nearly forgotten about in the rush of information.

Next, Gabriel detailed the destruction of the Occasus Promontorium, saying it had collapsed. That must have been what had caught him, and her jaw slackened in awe. She, too, had been injured there, and Gabriel knew it, stealing a stern glance to her. She managed a brief, small smile, more embarrassed than anything else, before she glanced away, feeling idiotic for having gone up there. But was it really so bad to have carried some hope? Still, they had clearly failed.

And so the Aquila chose to shift their borders away from that dangerous place; they moved west, now. That was smart, Sage thought. He mentioned, too, that they moved slightly away from those not-so-nice Anatheman neighbors. At the thought of that dark group of creatures, Sage tensed, remembering her meeting with Theodore. It had not gone badly, necessarily, but his energy and that of the land itself, even, had made her decidedly biased against the place. She would not be upset at this move, that was certain. And, it would mean more Inferni land that she could explore and made her own. More of the Mother Earth's creation that she might not yet have seen. Sage appreciated this news. Though most of their borders would remain the same, one would shift. The handsome son of the Aquila had been sent to mark this new border, and Sage was eager to explore it, shifting on top of her equine companion, itching to get moving.

Sage watched in silence as some of the clan members talked amongst themselves, wanting now to go and chatter with her sisters. She kept herself in this spot, though, not wanting to seem rude. Sun-colored eyes narrowed as a brutish looking man sidled up next to Gabriel, quietly speaking to him in what seemed to be a rushed and concerned manner. Who was he? Sage did not believe they had met, though he was clearly close to the Aquila. She dismissed it, eyes sweeping the crowd again, ignoring many of the voices which rose up into the silent air. She had few questions, and deemed them too unnecessary now to be voiced. Sage respected Gabriel, she respected his decisions. She only desired to speak to Kaena, to assure herself that grandmother was still alive and well, and that she had not retired out of necessity. The tan girl preferred to think that Kaena was simply tiring of that role, rather than getting too old for it.

After all had been said, Sage breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, Gabriel was the only one who suffered serious injury. Thank you, Earth Mother, for protecting him, she thought, glancing skywards. Sometimes, the Earth rebelled against itself and caused such monumental destruction. The girl did not claim to understand it; she only knew that it was a cycle that deserved respect. With these final thoughts, she heard their chattering voices become more and more silent as she rode slowly away, towards their new lands. She picked up speed once she was away from the clearing, feeling the cool air rushing through her tousled hair as she rode, hoping that the freedom would clear her worried mind. After she explored the space, she would find Kaena. The girl needed to know the reason, the truth. Her heart ached for her aging grandmother, and for her bruised and beaten Aquila.

Slight PP with everyone to wrap this up. ^^

Gabriel dismissed his daughter with a stern glance, believing her phrasing to be mocking him in a subtle way. As she left, Hybrid’s description of a wolf along with a masked concern brought a frown to the Aquila’s face. It remained there as the foreign male spoke about his wagon, and when silence rang out over the collective group the coy-wolf spoke again. “All right, you’re all dismissed. Hybrid, you stay.” The coyotes trailed off, dispersing with impressive speed, and Gabriel came to meet his oldest Hydra. He did not know about the wolf that was described and suggested the warrior speak with his mother.

The news about Ezekiel was met with an equally dark face and the promise of speaking to the boy. While Gabriel knew his son was not the type to harm members, he had caught him attacking them before. Finally, even Hybrid left and Gabriel returned indoors with Enkiel to rest.
