Niro had let Amaranth sleep in, but he would have to head out and tend to his birds, the early morning and come calling in his son. He had woken up but Niro was able to console the pup back to sleep, even though he was sure Jiva was still hungry, at least his mate would get an hour or two extra sleep. He got himself ready, kissing Amaranth on the head before he left. Marahute had been on her pirch but was not really asleep, she woke with Niro and the child, and she seemed worse for wear as it came to birds.

“Don’t worry Marahute, it won’t last long now. He’ll be sleeping all night just like us, just need patience”

Niro yawned. It was not yet light out, so he would do his chores quickly and possibly get back by the time Amaranth woke up maybe... that was not the likely story that would come to be, but Niro liked to keep an open mind as he walked to the stables where the redtail and the bald eagle eagerly awaited him. He fed the two and called to them. he couldn’t have all his birds perch on him anymore now, there were too many. The only one he allowed was Marahute, who had taken to be the leader of the group of three, though the two males didn’t seem to mind, as long as they were fed. Gregor was the first to be worked in his training. He’d made the best progress of the three so far, and only because Marahute had been a hatchling pretty much since she started or she would have gotten things much more quickly. After Gregor finished, Niro sent him off and started to work on Tobias. He had been the more rebellious one. It seemed that every now and then he would ignore Niro’s calls, and today seemed to be one of those days. It was later in the morning now, and he watched as the bird circled overhead, a sign that he’d found something and soon perched on a branch. Niro came to see what Tobias had found, to see Liam looking up at him.

“Tobias, puppies aren’t food!”

Niro laughed. he knew the bird knew this or Liam wouldn’t be there anymore, but seeing as Tobias was a part of the pack, the pack was also a part of Tobias’ family, so Niro was certain the hawk wouldn’t attack the boy. Niro turned his attention to his mate’s half brother and smiled, that would make the boy his his own brother as well? Whatever the case he smiled at the boy. Remembering him as a rowdy tiny little pup.

Hello there Liam, keeping out of trouble I hope?

The man asked smiling down at Liam. Kneeling, so the boy wouldn’t have to look up so high. As he went down Marahuted flapped out her wings, hitting him in the face. He’d forgotten she’d been there, and with the motion she’d tried to steady herself. It worked for her, but nearly caused Niro a nosebleed.

Niro couldn’t help but chuckle a little at Liam’s words, he believed the young boy, he was quiet enough to be one to not get into trouble but trouble always found a pup, wherever and whoever they were. Niro still remembered when he was a pup trying to do things he wasn’t suppose to, even though sometimes he didn’t know. Smiling, he was sure Liam was being good though right now. Beside Niro was not entirely one to snitch on someone the second he saw something bad, though he’d do what he could to correct the wrong. At Liam’s question about Marahute, Niro grinned from ear to ear.

“She is a very special bird actually. I have had her since she was this tiny, in an egg.”

He moved his hands to show the boy how small the egg had been, which was considerably smaller than the bird of prey was now. He felt proud that he had raised the bird since she was an egg and felt a bond greater than he could ever think.

“Would you like to hear how I got her egg? It’s kind of exciting.”

The man asked settling himself a little. He found it ironic that he was trying to get away from one pup to start talking to another, but Liam was not his and he did like being around the older pups more, though he did love Jiva very much the pup was just still too new to do anything with.
