Lost in the forest, and liking it
#1
Luke had been wandering around the camp in the region outside anathema pack territory for about three hours, mending small items and trying to not think about Lili, when his luck started to revert to it's normal self. That is to say, a tree branch from an aging oak dropped off almost silently and crashed right through Luke's path, tripping him and barking his shins. Luke got back up and cursed the tree, then thanked his luckless stars that he had gotten a warning from whatever jinx plagued his steps. He very carefully picked up his medical bag full of carefully sealed and well cared for jars of small herbal remedies, and attempted to make his way to the center of the camp he had made with Lili a few days ago. He only tripped over two mole hills dug within the last twelve minutes twice over the twenty foot distance. That might have been a record. Luke settled himself in at the center of the camp with a blanket and a few strips of jerky. Lili had said she wanted to go and meet the AniWaya pack, she said they sounded like their best bet and Luke wanted very badly to agree with anything Lili said. Lili claimed that soon enough after she had gone and asked them about joining he could bring the rest of the gear and the freaking sheep into their new life. So Luke counted the ways he was lucky, and tried to imagine that he didn't see or hear the signs of road wear disintegrating the less permanent items in the camp while he waited for his love to come through for him. Waited for the pack ahead of him to decide if he was going to finally leave the road. Luke waited for his bad luck to come to an end.

Waking an hour later, Luke recognized a small feathery companion, Flynn, and realized that his luck was taking another turn for the better, Lili had done it. They were accepted. It was time to pack up the camp for the last time. Four pieces of easily replaceable metal and wood broke while Luke was securing everything. It was a new record.

Lili had been waiting anxiously in the neutral territories surrounding AniWaya for Flynn and her mate to come back, along with the animals she'd left behind. Mostly, though, she was eager to see Luke again. It wasn't often they'd parted for long periods of time in their months on the road together, and now...well, now Lili found it somewhat hard to function without dear Luckless. Being able to call out his name over her shoulder, and getting an answer, was one of the most important things in her life to date. Maybe AniWaya had become one of those things, but Luke would always be held dearest to her heart.

It wasn't long before she saw his familiar figure come over the horizon, though it seemed an infinitely longer time until he was standing close enough for her to see him clearly. She stood up, waving madly, her grin wild and her curled tail doing a happy little jig behind her. Finally he was close enough for her to cup her hands around her maw and shout his name, so that he didn't think a stranger had greeted him so warmly--damn them if they tried! She'd tear them to pieces!--and, when she could finally take it no longer, she dropped her hands and ran to him.

They weren't far from the border now at all, close enough for her to shout a jumbled instruction to Gad and a promise of apples if he continued on into the packlands--their place, after all, was guaranteed. A moment later she leaped, aiming straight for Luke, and attempted to crush him to her, despite his larger size. Luke! I missed you so much! C'mon, we have to get you accepted! I haven't gone inside the packlands at all without you! She wanted them to see it together. And they would...hopefully.

Sorry this hasn't been attended to till now :X (Nootau: Not Visible)

The first time that Ralla had met Lili, she had not followed her into AniWayan lands as she had thought. She had, instead, insisted on waiting for her mate to arrive. Ralla had been skeptical to leave her at first, but it was her choice, and Nootau wasn't any help on the matter--instead staying quiet. She supposed it was one of those things that was hers to make the call on and did not garner his help. But she was so close to her birthing time that it was hard for her get up early in the morning, so when she felt Nootau's gaze upon her rather than heard his wings, she knew that not only was he not in his physical form, but that something was up. The barn owl spirit guide did not disrupt Ralla's sleep in the morning unless something was amiss, and so with a groggy stretch the white wolfess rose and began her descent out of the tree hut.

The walk to the borders--for that was where Nootau was leading her--was short, but the direction worried Ralla. Was Lili okay? Was there another joiner? Or perhaps Luke had arrived. Her steps quickened a little, and when she came upon the scene, she let out a sigh of relief that nothing was wrong, Nootau landing back on the chain link fence, unseen in his spectral form. Looking out to the couple, Ralla let out her own howl--a staccato beat that lengthened out into a drawn-out soprano--to make herself known, but she waited where she was behind the chain link fence. To her, it was what symbolized the division between the tribe lands and the outside world; coming behind it meant acceptance and welcome. But she did not know Luke's lot to offer them yet, although Lili was accepted. With a sad realization, if Ralla found that Luke was incapable, Lili would likely leave or have to break off their mate-ship. Such a things was so unlikely, though, that it was more probable that the moon would fall right out of the sky. "I can only assume this to be Luke, is that right?" she asked when they came closer, tired and yet kind all the same, the pups picking then to move around within her.

Moon walks. "Moon talks." Moon thinks.
