Loose posting order Smile I/Amber will add people to the list as they come. This will be open for three days, to let everyone join. If your name is underlined, you have been skipped.

Naniko
Conri
Lucifer
Deuce

Lucifer had showed her a new way of fishing, and it was really coming in handy. She'd gone to the ocean and dropped the net there, and had ended up catching some really big fish. She was glad that she was such a large individual--carrying them back hadn't been a problem at all.

But that supply had run out a couple of days ago. She did enjoy fish, but too much of it gave her a stomachache sometimes. Naniko looked up at the sun, trying to judge the time of day. Mid-morning. It wasn't too hot outside, but it wasn't cold, either--it was the perfect weather for hunting. Maybe some of the other pack members would be in need of a good meal, too.

She lifted her head, calling for them to join her.

It was the call the young hybrid had been dreading ever since his return to pack life. A hunt. One of his biggest fears had been that he suddenly wouldn't be able to provide for his family in one way or another, a fear that had only grown since the loss of his leg. What good would he be in a hunt? Would he just slow them down if he tried to help out? His ears folded slowly back against his head at the sound of his mate's call, suddenly unsure. What if he messed up and caused them to fail the hunt? He hated the idea of being unable to do normals things, such as hunt, because it made him feel as if he were disabled. What kind of leader would he be if he didn't show up for the call to hunt though? Especially one from his own mate.

When they had decided to establish a pack it meant that they were taking on the bad and the good, a full plate of responsibilities. Making sure the pack was fed was one of the responsibilities, one that he knew he couldn't ignore. Finally, after a moment to gather himself, the young leader turned and started off toward the direction of the call. He didn't run, an attempt to conserve energy, but he made it to where his mate was in a timely fashion. "Hey." He said quietly as he approached her, giving a swift wag of his tail along with his greeting. Conri offered a soft nuzzle, a quiet smile, trying to hide the uncertainty in his eyes.

The male had been spending time in the family den, playing with his childern and his grandchildren. He knew that he wouldn't always be able to do that, and that once the numbers in the pack picked up, that he would need to hunt more and more, though there would be plenty of time that would allow him to teach the kids how to hunt. Just like how his father did. Lucifer heard the call of Naniko, a hunt. He knew this would be the time for all of them to learn from each other, trails and moving. Lucifer had been watching the movements of the fish making sure they returned, and watching the birds, if they flew in flock, and how many and which ways. He never wrote any thing down, he was able to keep it all in his head.

He kissed the boys good bye as he held them in his arms for a brief second more, as he piled some rock to block the pups in the den as he moved towards the call, seeing the lover birds the male dipped his head as he stood looking."What's up?" Not like he didn't know.

She still hadn't shifted into her two legged form. She wasn't ready to test the healing of the burns. Soon, though. Soon. The boys were already one month old. It seemed like just yesterday they'd been born in her den in the human city. She worldlessly followed her mate. Two legged followed by a four legged. like a human and it's pet. That was an idea that gave her shivers...of another kind. (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more, eh?)

She hated hunting. She was lousy at it. But it was up to them to keep everyone fed. she wished she had the bow Dierdre had given her. She'd done really well with it. she'd gotten to be a really good aim with that bow. She missed it.

Anyone is still welcomed to join Smile

She saw Conri often, more often than any of the other pack members. They shared a den, as mates, and slept next to each other every night. But each time she saw him, no matter how much she'd seen him the day before, or earlier that day, he always made her react the same way, unconciously. Her heart thumped, her claws digging into the earth beneath them in an eager, excited way. They'd been friends for such a long time, almost her entire life. It made sense that they would be together now.

Even the simple "hey" he gave her made her grin, and she nosed him beneath the chin. "Hey, yourself" She had thought that he would be practicing hunting by himself, but hadn't gone any farther past that thought, to group hunting. She just assumed that he would always be all right, no matter what happened. They had each other to lean on when things got too tough.

Lucifer was next to come and she greeted him in almost the same manner as Conri, though not quite as intimate--a nudge on the shoulder. He was a good friend of hers. "I was hoping you might feel up to leading a hunt today--new group, new lands...it'd be interesting" That wasn't to say that this wasn't some sort of a test; she did have interesting in seeing how far his hunting skills ranged. Summer was okay, but winter was when it would really matter.

When Deuce arrived her tail flicked back and forth. She and the female were planning on starting their herb garden soon, to plant a supply that would last them the rest of the year.

Hi! My name is Amber and I like to hold up Pack Threads. Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

Despite being unsure whether he would help or hinder with the hunting, Conri knew that he would be ashamed if he didn't at least make an attempt at helping or, at the very very least, show up. He and Lucifer had quite a long talk that day, one that got him thinking about things in a different way than he had before. He wanted to provide for his pack, do anything that he could for them, but Lucifer had told him that he couldn't do everything, not without killing himself in the process. Conri was no Superman and he was having trouble coming to terms with that. Jade eyes closed at the nudge, pausing a moment to absorb her scent before situating himself at her side, just in time to see Lucifer arriving.

For the time he said nothing, it was Naniko who had called them all to gather, so the young hybrid smiled instead, nodding his head in greeting toward their friend. Even now Conri found it amazing that Lucifer could tolerate him, knowing that it had been Conri's father that killed his mother, and that simple fact made the young Leader respect the darker male even more. Conri listened while Naniko spoke, ears thrust forward and ready for direction from their lead hunter, though his attention strayed as they were joined by yet another. Deuce. He smiled at her also, offering a polite nod of his head before turning his attentions back to Lucifer.

Every day in these new lands where a trick, an amazing trick how everyone was so willing and so able to shift from one lands to the other and make them work, work and live like they did the old lands. The blue eyed male smiled to Naniko with a soft laugh, it was great to be around friends, and his loved ones. Be hide him was his mate, the male looked down to her kissing her on the head, he loved what all she had gave him. She was the mother of his two children, and he would not let a time come to them to harm them. "Naniko...are you sure? This was something that you called together." He was not sure if he knew how to lead a pack into a hunt, one on one he knew how to hunt but a whole pack. The male looked scared, he was not a leader type. He was a criminal with a past.

He gulped as he shifted his weight around on his two legs, unsure if he was really able to do everything that a Lead Hunter should be able to do. He was sure that she or even Conri could lead the hunt better then he could, but if she wanted it, and commanded it to be done he would. He would do any thing for the lands to, the male was not ready for the spotlight, not now....not never.

Deuce felt relaxed. This wasn't the first time her mate had lead a hunt. He was a fine hunter. She nudged his hand, her tail lazilly swinging. She gave him a smile and spoke up, presuming to speak for the leaders. You wouldn't have been asked if they didn't think you could handle it, love.

She wouldn't try to lead a hunt. hadn't tried since the disaterous hunt with Hymn. Hymn had gotten hurt. That was so long ago. So very long ago. Hymn had been but a pup, afterall. Syemv. Deuce felt the occasional pang for it. Much like, she was sure, the former members of Chimera felt the same pangs.

Naniko was very excited that they had four strong adults this time. She'd been on two-wolf hunts, three-wolf hunts, and even bigger packwide hunts before. The more wolves they had, the better chance that they would be able to bring something down that was good. They would probably need more than one deer to be able to feed the pups. It was likely that the little ones would start eating partially digested meat soon.

She had found an icebox in the house that they had taken residence in, one dug into the floor of the cellar, and maybe they could keep some meat in there. It was cool down there, even now that the temperatures were beginning to soar.

She was about to answer when Deuce spoke up, and the amiable female nodded in agreement. "Couldn't have said it better myself. I've been tracking a herd of white-tailed deer for a few days, watching their movements. They go by the lake around this time every day...so they won't be too hard to find"

The male felt happy to know the people trusted in his skill, that they would allow him to lead the hunt, and with both Perseus and the Andromeda here, the male felt more pride. Though with pride came his fears the male didn't want to show his fear for that they would think he was not able to lead this hunt. He feared for there well being, not wanting the issue of any one getting hurt on his watch. With a chuckle the male gave a nod. Sure they said he was trusted and they wanted him to lead, so he would.

"Deer? Hmm. Ah that sounds good, to bad my father still not around to cook it up." He knew that Deuce knew of his father, and knew of his wonderful skills in hunting. Though he was pretty sure that Conri and Deuce knew. What about Naniko? Did she know how great a hunter and cook his father was? Noah Sawtoothson was his and still Lucifer's hero he wanted to live in a world where happy ever after was just that. His father fought for that life style and that's how he wanted to live.

So hear they where...it was time to start the plotting process of leading the hunt, the male didn't have enough tools to have a human like hunt, but if there was only one or two of them that was able to hunt, and other to set up the trap at the end of all the game. Conri...can you dig a hole about a foot deep and Deuce and you can stand on either end to make sure they fall into them, After they fall, kill them. I hope for only three, there isn't much of a need for more. Naniko, I will cut out three deers, will you run them toward Deuce and Conri, with me?"

Deuce smiled crookedly at Lucifer's mention of Noah cooking the deer. Once upon a time it had seemed the dark male had hated his father. Now he spoke fondly of him. It was good. She nodded. It sounds like a good plan love. And after Naniko and I can smoke some of the meat so it doesn't go to waste.

Deuce hated wasteing food. It seemed wrong. but she remembered the famine so very long ago. Fish. Fish fish and more fish. Back when Rurik had been alpha of Syemv. Bfore thanos and her pregnancy with Dierdre. So very long ago.

Three would definitely be a challenge, but his hunting technique sounded really interesting. She nodded. "You betcha." She could remember the very first hunt she had been to like it'd happened yesterday. Back then she had been too small to really do anything, so her aunt Misery had taken her and Pontiac aside and made them watch what the others were doing. She'd been so excited about watching.

Now things were different. It was fun leading a hunt, but hunting wasn't exactly one of her strong points. She was good enough at it to get by, but she didn't really like killing animals if she could help it. Somehow it felt better when someone else did it, and she just ate. She didn't have to think about how it all happened.

Naniko turned to Deuce, agreeing. "It'll give the pups something to chew on, too. Make their teeth stronger. Soon enough they'll be able to join us during hunts"

They all agreed with what was going to happen, The male gave a nod and and turned away, stepping away from the pack he looked back waiting on every one else to take there part. Lucifer's heart thumped in his chest. He wouldn't allow any one to get hurt the process the male flipped his ears back as she looked back to Naniko, that was his hunting partenter. He shifted his weight as he looked up to the sky taking a moment or two to have a talk with his birth mother. He asked for her blessing upon this hunt.

His blue eyes looked back down, shimmering with love. Love for his pack, love for his mate, love for his pups that where back in the house, and love for all of his friends. Lucifer gave a bark, it was the start of the pack hunt. A hunt that he hoped would be successful. If there was more deers that got involved in the kill the better, he could skin them and cover them in salt from the sea and let it dry, it would make a nice jerky for the pack.

Deuce moved to help Conri with digging the hole. This was going to be a good hunt, she could feel it in her bones. When the hole was about a foot deep, she stood back, claws at the ready for whatever the other two chased their way. It was simple, she supposed. Hamstring then slit the throats. A slash to the legs than the throat. Simple and easy. She hoped.

The thrill of the hunt was hot in her blood as she followed Lucifer out into the woods. Naniko trusted that he would do well, and was content to follow his lead this time. Maybe next time she or Conri would lead the hunt, and they could try out some new tactics. She had been looking in the human city for some weapons, maybe a bow and some arrows. She knew how to make arrows, too, so once her supply ran out she could just make more. But bows, she wasn't so sure about. She would need to look at one to figure it out.

She would probably go there sometime with Lucifer and the little ones, to get them out exploring. It was better that the adults showed the young pups all the places that they could go to first, rather than them running out there on their own, where they might get hurt. She followed Lucifer to the herd, sitting down in the grass and observing. What ones would they take?

Conri had taken the time to shift long before Lucifer and Naniko moved out, finding that it would be impossible for him to dig without being shifted. That only brought about another problem though. Having to shift and dig in such a manner would slow them down considerably, which was what the young Leader kept in mind as he rose and moved away from them, leaving them for a moment while they prepared to begin. When he returned Lucifer and Naniko were already headed out for the small herd, so he settled himself near Deuce, rock in hand.

With the rock, he began to dig, slamming it down against the surface of the ground at first, to break it up and make it softer and easier for him to dig through. From there, he began shoveling it away, tossing it off to the side, away from the hole and Deuce, the beginning of a small pile of dirt. This was a tactic that he'd never tried before, one that he hadn't ever heard of, honestly, but it did seem like it would work. For such a small group of adults to bring down multiple deer, it would be an accomplishment.

The hunt was on, the two friends where up to the racing. The black male looked to Naniko. This was where she could get hurt if she was being foolish. The male didn't want that. She meant the word to him. Smiling Lucifer nodded towards her as they started up on the path to the heard. The path was laid out straight for the deer, unless they jumped they where going to be dinner tonight. Lucifer looked at Naniko with a soft sigh. "Watch for there feet, and there horns. I do not want you hurt! Be my mirror image, though if I yell stop. I want you to stop!" There was no question for her to answer. The male stocked around the deer finding a good lot, that way if one or two jumped, they would still have a great meal.

They where ready. The male smiled as he gave her a nod moving to his right, holding his body low to the ground slowly cutting them, Then...with a bark the male lunged, taking a nip at one of the deers leg. The race was off, there was eight of them, running the lane. Lucifer smiled as he looked to his white friend. This was a great game.

((Awkward post alert!))

She shifted her weight from one paw to the other, nervous and excited. She jumped as Lucifer let out an explosive bark. She strained her eyes, laughing excitedly as the deer ran towards her and Conri. Adrenaline was high, her blood was running fierce.

As they got near, she nipped at a deer, who jumped the hole nimbly, Deuce's jaws missing it by scant centimetres. it stumbled in the hole she and Conri had dug. She heard it scream as a leg snapped. She lunged in, grabbing it by the throat. The beast struggled, but Deuce felt the throat give way as blood pooled in her mouth. She didn't wait for it's dying to begin, she only lunged for the next deer, a young buck, who had stumbled over the first deer's carcass.

It hadn't broken anything, so she leapt for the hamstring. She felt the buck's hoof miss her cheek by inches. Her teeth latched on, tore muscles and flesh. The tang of blood was thick. had Conri made a kill as well? Blood was sweet in her mouth, heavy in her coat. She snarled as the buck fell, leaping for his throat. The desperate buck, afraid of this fearsome femme, shyed away, his eyes wide with terror. She grabbed his throat, dragging him down, exhilleration pumping in her brain.

This was a larger than average herd, but eight deer was still a lot for them to be able to take down...even with this new hunting technique. And if they did manage to kill all eight, there was no telling what the impact would be later on; there might be less baby deer in the future if they took this many at once. Naniko considered this as they chased the deer down the lane. Whatever ones managed to get out would get out, and they wouldn't chase those.

A few of the deer in the back, realizing what was going on ahead of them, veered off into the woods on varying paths until one remained, still heading up the path toward where the hole was dug. Naniko snapped at his heels and haunches, reminding him that he should keep running.
