Cercelee woke in an alarmingly pleasant mood. It had been only a few days since they had formed the pack officially, the strange feelings still lingered in her bones after the formal meeting. Although the year old female hadn’t wish for it, she had felt a shift in the relationship between the others. No matter how small the change was, it had nagged at her the past few days. The nagging was still nibbling tiny hole in her stomach when she awoke, but it had to battle with an unexplainable joyous feeling. Again she had slept out in the open, just curled up in the grass of the field, and went she stood to stretch there were birds within her eyes sight ready for the chasing. Like an over eager kitten, she bounded towards them, accomplishing nothing but scattering them to the sky and having them chide her with angry chirps as she watch them fly away.

Letting loose an exaggerated yawn, Cercelee eyed the surround area with a feeling of mischief. For whatever reason, the good mood she had woken into was accompanied with a surplus of energy, and the alabaster wolf was ready to burn it off. Sprinting through the pack lands like the lunatic she felt like, her dainty paws pounded the dirt in a rhythmic way. Without thinking where she was going she had arrived back to the meeting area, the wall which Colibri had stood upon still half crumbled, and it was this which Cercelee leapt upon. Throwing her head back, Cercelee felt the sound emerging from deep within her chest before she knew what was happening. The howl was melodic, it came out and floated in the air like happy music, calling to her pack, the four others that resided in these lands.

Once the sound died in the air, Cercelee gave it a second thought and called out again, her cheerful voice morphed into a long, drawn out song, just to warn anyone who did show up of her good mood, and it felt so good just to make noise. Smiling to herself, she thought of the large buck she had seen yesterday, grazing in Flanders’s Field among the tombstones. That would be her goal, if they could track him, if not, she was happy to relinquish the lead to anyone else who had a meal in mind.

Yay, hunting!

Stomach empty, Mew had been walking around here and there the past few hours, looking for anything that might be edible without involving too much effort. She felt heavy, and she was. Easier things didn't come as natural anymore, she had encountered trouble killing even a young hare the other day. It was slightly embarrassing, but it was only natural, she supposed. After all, she was carrying around more weight than what she was used to, and she grew tired more easily. Running and all that was easy enough, but when it came to actually managing to catch hold of the prey... that's when she failed, time after time. It was frustrating. Still though, she had a rather good day, having visited her old den in Clouded Tears earlier, and finding that there were actually items there that wasn't all to damaged by the fire. Stacked neatly along the inner wall of a little cabin-thing she had found and decided to stay in, she had looked at them for a while, rejoicing and anticipating the time she could use them again.

Ears caught the sound of a calling, and she knew who it was. Cer wanted something? The light-furred female changed her trot to the direction the call had come from. No later than she had done that, Cer's voice broke the silence of the area again, joyfully. Mew wondered what it meant, surely this was no warning or alarm, and it tickled her curiosity. She approached the rosea with a smile on her lips, body posture respectful. Her words were casual though. Hi! How's you?

I'll be waiting here to meet you

Colibri shuddered as she heard the merry tones in Cercelee’s singing voice that rose and then faded away., so different from her own constant hollow mood. Colibri switched direction and moved steadily towards Cer’s position. She could hardly leave the young female all on her own, but she disliked the fact that Mew was in these lands. Dislike was a strong word, but she definitely felt uncomfortable as it was clear Mew would like to have some distance between them. Of course, Colibri had failed following up her children as she had so foolishly run off when getting a decent reason. Forgiveness may not come as easy for others as it did for her. Of course she was happy to see Mew and know that she was all right, but the mental distance did not stop making her bleed. It would not get better if they kept up with the foolish acting, but Colibri had fallen into the trap and actually meant she felt a bit better by not being rejected more openly if she had tried to track down Mew and confront her. It was about accepting other’s feelings as well, and not simply following one’s own and afterwards drowning in one’s own self-pity.

Cercelee was now standing at the same spot as Colibri had done when she had announced the pack creation and announced hierarchy and ranks. A dull smile appeared on her lips, and she uttered a decent ”Hello to you both.” directed to both of them, eyes sweeping over them both in turn. Mew Sadira was only a wolf, and would be treated as a member unless she wanted else wise. Colibri let her gaze turn upwards toward the gray sky. She really did love this weather. Rain was something of the most beautiful that could be given to her, but the skies had yet to cry down upon them today, and if Cercelee had a special activity in mind, she hoped the weather would let them finish before it once again would pour out with its wet misery. Colibri moved closer to Cer’s position and placed herself next to the other ivory lady, but on a lower rock, giving Cercelee whatever authority she could wish for. Waiting patiently for whatever the young female had called them together for.

Dying to meet you

Mew arrived, and although not nearly as enthusiastic as Cercelee, she didn’t seem as gloomy as Colibri did when the older rosea arrived. After giving Mew a friendly nudge with her wet nose, Cer turned to Colibri and gave her an even more exaggerated nudge. Hello, I hope you both are hungry? Cercelee glanced in all four directions about her, wondering if either Slay or Hanna would be joining them. Ah well, certainly if they were around her call had penetrated their ears, and if they answer great, if not, Cercelee was far too energetic and hungry to wait around for long. Cercelee hopped off the wall as gracefully as she could with her endless energy, and looked up at Colibri whom was now the highest perched of them all. Cercelee didn’t really care about authority. She knew it was best to keep the other’s respect, in case she did have reason to request anything of them, but right now, she wanted unity between all of them.

Looking in the direction of Flander’s Field her navy eyes lit up as she looked back at the two females, colored so similarly to herself. Yesterday I spotted a large buck near the cemetery, he couldn’t have gone too far, although I am not sure if the three of us could bring him down alone, maybe if we ran him for a long while and tired him out though. Cercelee again thought of Hanna and Slay. More numbers would be good, and Slay was the only wolf with any real weight behind him so it would have been useful to have both of them present, but they could make do without. Breakfast, lunch and dinner would be served one way or the other. What do you guys think? Should we go after the buck or something smaller? Cer waved her tail happily, impatiently, waiting for an answer.

Cercelee's cry took a little longer to reach Hanna's ears than it had the others, but when she heard the note of joy wrapped in the summons, Hanna raced toward the impromptu gathering in her two-legged form, a cry bubbling up to meet and embrace the notes that were fading from her alphess's howl. She'd donned only her belt and knives today, in case she ran into any unforeseen problems that required the weapons, and these clanked at her side as she sprinted.

Coming upon her three white family members, Hanna shouted a greeting and heard the last bit of Cercelee's question. Quick to put in her two cents, Hanna remarked, "We can take the buck. If you three drive him towards me, I can finish him." She meant, of course, that she could be hiding in the brush, then leap out and use one of her knives to quickly slit his throat, providing a quick meal for the whole pack.

"Hmph. You can't start a hunt without me, Cer," rumbled Slay with a grin as he approached from behind her. "Good morning, lovely comrades Colibri, Mew, and Hanna!" He nodded to each of them in turn, proud for having gleaned their names in the few days that had passed since their pack formation. He hadn't had a chance to speak with Mew or Hanna yet, and Colibri seemed to be avoiding them all for some reason. But he was still friendly and cheerful, despite not having slept much the night prior. He never slept well anyway, he though with a rueful yawn, kneading his blunt claws in the dew-covered loam.

Slay found himself curiously eying the dark-furred sister of Colibri, Hanna. She was standing on two legs again - she seemed to prefer the upright Optime transformation, and was even more comfortable using tools like a knife than her teeth... Slay knew that what he learned as a youth had been skewed and twisted, but they had always preached that it was shameful for a wolf to become human-like. Sinful, even. Even though he knew that the elders were a bunch of pompous imbeciles, he had still never attempted to go past the Secui form. It was interesting, if slightly uncomfortable, to examine someone in the Optime form up close.

"Buck sounds fine to me, m'dovely. Have you a strategy in mind? You seem rather chipper today," he added in a drawl, noting how remarkably un-chipper the rest of their pack was. He really needed to ask someone what the relationship between Mew and Colibri was, because as soon as the shy white female had arrived, their leader had been miserable. Colibri seemed a bit tired when Slay met her, but now she looked half-dead. Maybe she wasn't sleeping either...?

Now that everyone's here, shall we have a posting order or just keep it free? Smile

Mew watched as her mother approached, then Slay and her aunt. So that made all of them! Deciding not to interrupt the dialogue that emerged once the others approached, Mew started thinking. While a normal hunt would consist of running the buck till it was too tired to run anymore, and then going in for the kill, she had noticed Hanna's tools and expected they'd be more effective than the teeth they all possessed, being much larger and easier to aim with, mostly. The older, dark female seemed so natural in her shifted form, that she had no doubt hunted like this, making that a very good option indeed to finish him off. And yes, she was hungry. Damn she was hungry, and she hadn't tasted much but critters for months. A buck would certainly be a nice change.

Despite her mother's presence, Mew decided to be casual about this. After all, they had a goal, right? Which made this a non-social happening, really. She certainly wouldn't mix personal things into this, and she made it so she didn't have to. Acknowledging them all with a nod - Colibri too - (even attempting to make eye contact; Mew was surprised by herself), she waited until Slay was done speaking and decided to vote in favor of killing the buck. Also, it added to the young male getting an answer to his question, she guessed. She didn't fear that the two rosea would see her as disrespectful, not after Cer's informal approach to the rank during last time they all met. She seemed to want them to think they were all equal, despite having different ranks - as if they were only formalities and they were actually really friends on an equal ground. Well I'm no good for attacks these days, but I can certainly run and scare him for a good bit. She smiled at them, and her unease with her mother's presence was a lot less heavy this time, so it didn't feel quite like a lie.

OOC | Libri said to skip her this time, but I think we should keep a loose posting order? However say that if someone takes more than three days to reply to their turn, skip them and they can post whenever out of turn? That way it keeps moving? We need a pack map to refer to for pack hunts and stuff XD

IC |
Colibri, Mew and I flush him out, chase him down a little and Hanna and Slay jump out and finish him? Cercelee smiled at Slay, as if to say ‘well, well, well, look who didn’t want to miss the hunt after all’ and then to Hana, both of whom had shown up so suddenly. The plan sounded good, although Cercelee wasn’t sure how well one could hunt in their shifter form, as Cer spent all her time as a wolf despite the fact she could shift, she was uncertain if Hana could really take the buck down with just a knife. They were so quick, but if Slay jumped out and took hold of one side of him, surely Hana could find enough time to dig her knife in.

The question now is where do you two want to be hiding? Cercelee looked at the two newer arrivals. Colibri, Mew and herself could herd the damn thing wherever, but Slay and Hana needed to be concealed well enough that the beast didn’t turn up, turn around, and turn onto the three smaller, white wolves. Plus, while Hana and Slay hid themselves, the three of them would have to track the animal down, surely it couldn’t have strayed too far from the cemetery? Perhaps if you two can hide in the brush and forest right outside of the south west border Wolfville? The spot seemed viable enough, not far from Flanders Field where they were likely to find the buck, but not so close that they wouldn’t have time to tire the buck out. Navy eyes scanned the rest of her pack mates, Colibri and Mew, the tension still palpable between them, Hana in her shifted form, contrasting the rest of them, and Slay, the only male still in their pack so full of estrogen, and the only member whom Cercelee had really spoke and joked with as a friend since the pack had formed. Letting out a silent sigh, Cercelee looked to the sky, her eyes sending a silent prayer to the thin air. This was their first time working together, what would happen if it failed? If they failed as a pack?

This would be the first time their rag-tag little band actually attempted a maneuver, wouldn't it? Since most of the other wolves knew each other, Slay had figured that they would have a lot more trust in each other than in him, the newcomer. But now he was noticing yet again how things were a bit awkward, simply because of these relationships they had. It seemed almost as though everyone in their small pack was hiding something from someone else. Cercelee was doing her best to keep morale up, but with Colibri's incessant gloom, Cer's cheerful voice was sounding a bit hollow. Mew and Hanna were trying to play along, but... Well, perhaps all it would take would be a successful kill to bring them together. That was quite plausible.

"That sounds like a fair spot for an ambush," Slay rumbled with a pleasant smile. "You lovely ladies certain you can herd him? Hanna and I are counting on you, dovelies."

The nickname was beginning to stick - doves, since they had such pure white fur. He winked at Mew, glancing sidelong at Cer to see if she would act jealous. She did seem awfully flirty, which was fun. He hadn't quite figured out what Mew was hiding, though. But he felt comfortable enough with their company to act as informal as this, even right before their first hunt. Perhaps he was a little too nonchalant. The big male turned to watch his hunting partner, Hanna. He felt awkward admitting it to himself, but it still bothered him that she was transformed. He kept expecting someone to chastise her, but who would? Only the wolves Slay had been raised around... "That spot sounds fine to me, unless its problematic for you. This is rather exciting...!"

I just posted to keep it going really, I've tried to figure out the posting order ish, but I am not intelligent enough ^^

Mew nodded as the plan to kill the buck was formed. It would be a nice change to feast on something other than smaller animals. Somehow it was more satisfying aswell, since the hunt was a lot more demanding. As the different members decided where and what, Mew found that she wondered how long she would last, running. After all, she was heavier than normal, and she had had trouble hunting smaller things just for herself lately. Although, they were more than just her now, and if she did fall back, she was sure the others would get the buck down. She held full confidence in Hanna's knife and her ability to use it; she held her posture with such confidence that there was no doubt about whether she could move just as naturally as in the other form. Yeah, it would be awesome, she decided, mouth watering at the thought of some nice buck meat.

Slay continued to amuse, winking to Mew and shooting a sideways glance at Cer. His whole personality was quite pleasant; he was polite, yet playful. He was an odd one though, with his fur colors and sleepiness. Mew caught herself wondering whether there was something going on between Cer and him, with her informal attitude towards them all, and especially him. And in particular how he responded to it. Yet, he was also flirty with them all. Dovelies.. What a cute name for them all. It fit, though maybe best for Cer, as she was the youngest. Mew didn't really think it fit her in particular, but if he wanted to call them that she wouldn't stop him. The young male voiced the excitement Mew felt in her heart, as if it had jumped from Cer to the rest of them initially, and she turned to the others, looking at them in turn. Not in the unnatural way, just simply letting her eyes pass them to signalize she was talking to everyone. Her voice was clear and controlled, a little smile playing on her lips and tail raised with excitement. Even though Colibri was here, she could not quench it. This was going to be fun! Shall we get going then?

The white female listened silently to Cercelee and the rest. They had arrived, all of them. She perked her ears in interest as Hanna announced without words that she actually planned to hunt in her werewolf form. It would fit, she was in many ways stronger in her luperci form, and if she would use one of the knives Colibri always saw her carry around, then it would be far more effective than teeth and dull wolf talons. Although this was supposed to be a pack activity to help them get to know each other better and get along, Colibri felt uncomfortable, and she kind of wished she had not showed up when Cercelee called. She did not want to be the party pooper, but she just wanted to be alone. So typical. When she was alone, she longed for company, and now when she was in a pack, she just wanted to be left alone without having to take care of anything nor anybody. She was a pack leader though. She had even been the one proposing the idea to Cercelee. Now it was too late.

She just nodded as the tactics were explained. She would chase with Mew and Cercelee, easy enough. She had held hunter ranks before and joined in on pack hunts, so that was far from a problem. She got up from her seated position and took a look at the hunting party. The pack was too small, they needed more wolves. Time would lead more members to them, hopefully. “Sounds good.”That was all she had to say.

We probably need to power play a bit to keep this moving sooo... I am XD. I would say, feel free to do that same so that we get this thread finished before it gets too outdated, yes?

Slay’s sidelong glance was met with merely a smug smile, and then she turned to Mew and winked at the female herself in the same manner Slay had. Turning from the two whom were clearly amused, she looked to Colibri, eyes narrowed a bit in concern.Let’s go then. Turning tail she began to lead Mew and Colibri away. Team Dovelies. Glancing back once to Slay and Hanna she checked to make sure they too were getting prepared,s he continued on, her nose in the air and then to the ground, trying to scent the buck.

Once the buck was scented, which was quite a ways away from their starting point, the tracking came easy. It was not long before the deer was in Cercelee’s sight, and silently the female nodded her head from her two hunting companions to the buck, then to the left of them, indicating that they should circle around. It would be a bit tricky to herd the huge beast in the proper direction, but if the three of them gave him no choice but to go where they wanted, well, that would work just fine. Coming up behind him, Cercelee looked to see if Colibri and Mew were positioned and shot a questioning look to them, her muscles tense like springs, ready to rush their prey at the first indication that the other two were ready.

And then spring she did, her paws thundered as loud as paws as small as her could thunder, as she began to drive the creature towards the direction that she knew Slay and Hanna lay waiting.

Slay was indeed waiting for them, the "dovelies team" as they were now considered in his mind. Cer had winked back at him, he thought with amusement. And perhaps Mew didn't know what to think of him! At least Colibri had come along this time. It was a good sign. He felt excitement coursing through his big frame as he crouched, concealed by the brush at the border of Wolfville. This was their chance! For the pack, for everyone, they would make this hunt a success. Slay glanced at Hanna's hiding place, catching a glimpse of the glinting knife she planned to use. It would be interesting to see how well she could hunt in that two-legger form, but he'd be too busy sinking his fangs into the buck's throat to watch...

White-tipped ears shot upright as he caught the sound of thundering hooves and panting wolves. They were coming! His muscular form tensed as he eagerly stared through the cover of leaves, waiting for the hunters to come into sight.

Not far from Slay, Hanna crouched below the level of the grass, a knife in her hand. Her ears were perked high, ever listening for the hoof beats of their prey. Her plan of attack was to pop up just enough to scare the buck, then clothesline him by grabbing an antler. She'd then assist Slay by cutting out the deer's throat.

Muscles tensed as the awaited noise began, then grew louder. Peering through the grass, Hanna could just make out the buck, followed closely by the three white females.

Posting order? what's that? I'm too stupid -posts-
Paws beating steadily against the ground, Mew kept chasing after the buck along with her two snowy companions, Colibri and Cer. They looked so much alike, with the speed they were taking on a stranger might take them for being a family. And perhaps they were, being in the same pack with - momentarily - the same goal. Her throat produced barks and a steady threatening growl to stress the meal-to-be, and it was working. In not long they would be close to where the others were hiding for the kill. Was he tired enough? Would he succumb? Taking on such a big prey could be dangerous, but Mew had confidence in Hanna's knives. Excited, she shot a happy smile at Colibri as she ran, forgetting for a moment the grudges she felt towards her. This was surely fun, thrilling even. And the meal would be glorious. Her breath was steady, though despite the adrenaline she didn't feel like running for too long further on. Just as well they were closing in on the others; her weight was pulling her down. Gone were the days when she could run seemingly endlessly, but they would return some time soon, and she was looking forward to it. She smiled as she dodged here and there, now on the side of him, then back behind again; the sudden movements in her sprint were meant to stress him and guide him to where Hanna and Slay were hiding. She didn't know whether this was appropriate, with her rank and all, but she didn't care. The point was to get him down, was it not? She would contribute as best she could. He would soon be dead, and they would feast.

They moved, and the buck was found rather quickly. Colibri was a decent hunter, and her role in all this was rather easy. The three light females moved swiftly, and picked up the pace as they drew closer to the prey. She increased the distance to the two other females, making sure the buck was less likely to dare to branch off in another direction but where they wanted it to go. It was fleeing already, but what it did not know was that it was pointless. Her paws hit the ground rhytmically. Her heavy thoughts were lifting and disappairing into the air, and she moved like the wind itself, chasing the poor creature that would soon end up as meal.

Susquehanna and Slay should be somewhere close. Time for action, and for a quick end for the poor creature ahead of them.

It was time. The buck was just nearing the appointed spot where Hanna and Slay should be waiting. They had chased him quite a ways, and the poor beast was tiring. Too bad. Cer thought cynically as she upped her speed, snapping like a demon at the heels (hoofs) of the buck. Although she enjoyed the chase, enjoyed the kill the pack brought down, and of course enjoyed the meal that they would share not too long from now, Cer did feel a little regret at having to kill a creature for her meal. Other species too had families, could communicate with their own kind, had their own ways, but the wolves need to eat and that was the end of it. Well that would be the end of it in only moments, her eyes looked up, waiting for the ebony female and the two toned male to spring forth and end the creature’s life.

Slay couldn't stifle a roar of exhilaration as he burst from his hiding place, a swirl of black and white headed by flashing fangs. He hadn't hunted real prey in so long, too long - he had forgotten how it felt. The buck's eyes rolled white as it tried to reverse its direction, but it was too little, too late. The arctic wolf clamped his jaws around the prey's arching neck, using his formidable weight to drag the rearing beast down onto all fours. His powerful fangs punctured the deer's thick hide, rewarding him with a spray of hot blood - but just a tantalizing taste, not enough to signify the cerf's death. He could hold it down like this, but he needed Hanna's killing blow to finish the job. His blue eyes caught a glimpse of white before them, and he felt gratitude wash over his body - the girls had succeeded in their hunt, and now the prey could not escape. They had done it!

Sorry for the powerplay, I skipped Hanna on the posting order to keep the thread moving, but she's sorta crucial at this point and stuff...

She had stopped chasing, but remained a trot as she watched the buck speed ahead of them and heading straight to Hanna and Slays hiding place. A blur of black and white that was Slay sprung forward and quickly brought the large animal to its knees, snarling with adrenaline and excitement. The buck's eyes rolled white with panic and he was still attempting to shake Slay off even though it was futile, powerful brown-furred legs shaking with adrenaline and strain. From where she stood she could just make out the male holding him down, and suddenly there was Hanna, moving in for the grand finale in their hunt. Mew let a celebrating sound escape her throat. It was not a howl, nor a yell. Simply a yelp of "Hooray!" though not with that word to it. She was excited, she was happy, adrenaline was still rushing through her veins. Water ran in Mew's mouth as she watched the blood pour from a wound in the buck's throat, made by her aunt's knife, and while life trickled away from the buck Mew could very nearly feel energy trickle into her. It would be nourishing, and she needed it, for herself and other's sake. Remaining the trot she was soon at the scene, and calmly waited there, though her tail was wagging nearly uncontrollably with excitement. She was not top rank, and Cer and Colibri would have the first share of the food, or at least that was a norm some places, why not here? Though her teeth begged her to just start digging in that fresh, delightful flesh, she turned to look at the two rosea. It was up to them how this was done. No matter, this event had put a smile on her face that would remain there throughout the day.

Crappy post by mee

Everything went according to plan, and as Slay and then Susquehanna with her luperci form and knife jumped into the scene, it was all over. The animal gave its life so that its superior predators could live. Fair deal. Colibri slowed down her pace and stopped next to the rest of the pack members and the fallen buck, still jolting in it death cramps. They were all high on adrenaline. A smile overpowered her face, it had been a most successful hunt, and it had gone so swiftly. The silver eyed female caught the glance given to her and Cer from her little daughter. They were all prepared for the meal, but they respectfully waited for the leaders to give them a final go. She remembered her first hunt in Celestial Hollow, when she barely was more than a puppy. Nirupama, the alpha had eaten first, then the next ranked wolf was allowed to go. Colibri did not care about such formalities. There was enough for everyone and she had unfortunately hunted down and feasted on a wild rabbit by Flander's Field earlier that day anyway. She waited for the body beneath them to still before she took a step forth and let her teeth pierce and rip of a piece of flesh from the animal's shoulder. She then backed off a bit while chewing on the still warm blood and muscle piece. It had been a very good hunt. She gave a nod, directed to them but also to Cercelee, a sign of that they could feast if Cer too gave the signal.
