Miqui had found a part of the territory he liked very much. Though the Borgata Xicohtli did not boast any features that were particularly magnificent, Miqui enjoyed the peacefulness and abundance of water-dwelling creatures, many of which were good for eating. But most of all, he liked that he had come to the area multiple times in the past few days and had yet to come across another of his kind. It wasn't that Miqui was anti-social--he knew how to interact and did not fear confrontation--it was simply that he found many individuals to be irritating and unworthy of his time. Having grown up fending for himself and his siblings and being treated rather terribly by almost anyone they'd met along the way, Miqui's faith in his kind was almost non-existent and he found it difficult to see anyone in a positive light apart from his family for this reason.

Miqui had discovered something else that drew him to the place, something he'd never seen before. Though the body of water before him was a river that emptied into the bay, a decent sized wave made its way down the river seemingly everytime the tide changed. Now that high tide was almost here Miqui excitedly anticipated the wave's arrival. Sure enough, moments later a forceful wave could be seen pushing its way down the river and Miqui watched it pass silently, the moment gone just as soon as it had begun, the only evidence of its existence being a higher tide.

Now the real reason the hybrid was revealed. Miqui waited on the bank as the animals that had been upset by the high tide changed their location and quickly snatched up a couple of crabs, ignoring the angry pinches they delivered him. The crabs were not huge, but there was definitely some decent meat awaiting him, and he quickly took a nearby rock and delivered sharp blows to end their movements. Sitting down on the bank, letting his toes soak in the brackish water, Miqui began to carefully separate the claws and then remove the shells. The smell drifted up toward him and he smiled softly. The water and its inhabitants the only witnesses to a Miqui that was not in a constant state of bitterness.

+3 :: Sorry for the delay!

If her mother had taught her anything, it was that Salvia, by birth, had the divine right to rule.

This perhaps explained why she walked with such an arrogance (and this was not merely pride) in her step, head and tail high, large paws trotting as a parading horse might. She was not a beast who was content with being second. While protocol demanded her obedience to superiors, she had been quick to prove her dominance over others. Rowan and Axi, for example. Both women, while years her elder, had bowed to the girl’s indomitable will almost instantly. Though they were expected to do this, as slaves, both did so without the malice she sometimes imagined servitude might bring on in a person.

Her brother, too, he was her subordinate in many subtle ways. While Pan outweighed and outsized her, Salvia was clever and used her wits to best him. She was not much smaller than him, either. While lean, her body was full of compact muscle made from endless exploration and endless play-war with her dark sibling. Yet she moved almost cat-like, sleek and quiet as a puppy could be.

Exploration took her far, and it was not long before she spotted a familiar figure. While Tlanti was her main source of contact with the Kimaris line, Tlanti’s brother had been present during several of Salvia’s Spanish lessons. She had even spotted him sparring with her aunt once and watched with wicked interest. One day she wished to fight like that, but too young to shift, she had focused on other tasks instead. One of these was stalking. Crouched low in the bracken the girl watched as the mud-colored coyote went about fishing. Well, not fishing. Crabbing. Having never tasted the creatures before, Salvia now longed to do so.

Slinking out of the brush the girl advanced noisily, green eyes gleaming. Beunos dias, she called out, her well-practiced Spanish clear but lacking the accent of a native speaker.
