It’s been a while since Rio had stepped back onto Souls lands. This was strange for her now, and she didn’t know where she was going. She walked aimlessly towards nothing hoping to find something. Or someone. There were new territories and smells that she didn’t remember from before, and some of the old scents that were still there. There was a strong smell of an unfamiliar place, meanwhile another fainter smell of Inferni. The coyote clan? She remembered them.

She wasn’t a hundred percent on where she was going, and didn’t really care if she crossed any borders. Maybe she would find someone who could direct her in the right direction. The first person she really wanted to see was her mother, Naniko, but it seemed that it would have to wait since she hadn’t a clue where she was. Her long black hair tickled her back as she walked in Optime. She probably would’ve gone faster in lupus, but she decided not to shift. Optime was always a kinder approach to those who’s territories you were about to trespass.

All the smells had changed in the matter of minutes. She must’ve crossed someone’s border, but she didn’t know who’s or what pack. She walked slowly, hoping someone would find her soon. She didn’t want to sit and wait, that would just waste time. She didn’t have any intentions of hanging around here longer than she had to. She just wanted to find Momma.

Side note: trespassing isn't the best way to get noticed by a member. She'll have to leave before Tlantli tells her anything, and if she doesn't, there are IC consequences.
she's a black magic woman
and she's trying to make a devil out of me

Xochime was silent as she accompanied her sister on the trek from the ruins to the border, the golden Crone mirroring her sister's trace efforts at communication. Since the feast, she'd been unwilling to speak — Tlantli didn't mind her sister's lost tongue, as Xochime was the least favored by her younger sibling's heart.

It was the fire-haired family member who realized first that someone was near, and a slender hand reached out to rap against the shoulder of her sister. Tlantli's fiery eyes turned, seeking out unfamiliar faces in the distance; the dark body of something was caught quickly in her gaze. She snorted, irritated at the blatant disregard for boundaries that this creature showed. Of course, as she neared to deal with the trespasser, she realized it made sense — it was, of course, a wolf who was so stupid as to waltz into her home.

One hand found her hip as she came to stop before the woman. "Aye suggest that you leave nao, before aye haft time to cahll for our guards." No warmth was in her voice, no kindness. The woman needed to go or face suffering at the hands of Salsola. This was simply how it was.

Finally, another was present in the distance. Rio stopped walking and waited for the female to approach her. She didn’t exactly mean to trespass, but she didn’t know how else to find someone. The two females approached her, the one who spoke didn’t seem friendly at all and Rio already could see that this wasn’t going to be a good conversation. She hoped she could turn it around by playing innocent, which she was. The other standing next to her was quiet, she didn’t say anything to the subject. Rio brought her hand up to her muzzle in a gasp.

I’m sorry for trespassing. It’s just that… I’m looking for someone. Would you know where my mother, Naniko, was?

This was obviously the wrong place to be looking. She was kind of hoping someone who she knew from before would approach her, but since this female did and she showed no sign of familiarity, Rio became a little nervous. Maybe she was in the totally wrong place. Maybe they had never heard of her mother here before. Then she would really be in trouble. Lost in unfamiliar lands with no lead on where her mom was.

Just as Tlantli expected, the wolf simply feigned innocence. Leave it to the idiots to not realize when to simply go away; this was what she expected of Larkspur as well. Stupidity. The blood-soaked eyes that had served to mystify others focused wholly on the dark-furred creature before her. Xochime shifted her weight between her feet. The air about the two sisters turned stale as the ever-present irritation within the Kimaris woman bubbled up from her stomach.

It was Xochime who spoke first, her voice soften and ever more considerate than that of her volatile sibling: "The borders are clearly marked." Unlike Tlantli, the elder of the pair did not carry her siblings' pronounced accent, nor did she feel the same disgust in the face of a lost child. The eyes that so resembled the Crone's held sympathy for the girl, while the Crone herself was steely.

Androgynous fingers tapped against her arm as she waited for something that didn't come. It was clear this thing — for she could not call something so ignorant a creature — had no intention of listening to her superiors. Instead, she was so bold as to ask questions! Teeth bared, a snarl rose in the chest of the coyote woman as she took firm steps forward. "Aye told you to leave. Nao. You wahn to know where your madre ess, you leahrn to leesan." In truth, she was being kind; she hadn't called the Arbiters to come deal with the nuisance at the gates.

The scout, well atleast I think she’s a scout, was cold and angry, while her younger sister finally came out of her shell. She spoke in a kind voice that took the edge off Rio’s nerves a bit. The borders were clearly marked. How did she missed that? Lost in her own head, she supposed.

Jeez, how did I miss that?

Then the meaner one stormed forward, and Rio thought it was going to turn for the worst, but the female didn’t do anything but snarl and say something else that was kind of hard for Rio to make out. She made squinty faces as she tried to decipher the heavy accent of the female. Not out of rudeness, but because she really couldn’t understand. She got the gist of it though, and was leaving nao.

Okay, okay. I’m going.

She felt like she was being a pest, when all she was trying to do was find her mother. Yes, she did trespass a little bit, but she was leaving now. NAO. She chuckled to herself with her back turned to the two females, so they wouldn’t notice her smile. She began walking toward the borders that she mindlessly crossed. It took a few awkward minutes before she crossed them enough to be safely away from the territory, and turned to see if she was going to get the information that she sought in the first place.

Short. Sorry.

Tlantli did not take her words of innocent as truth, her hard gaze turning diamond. Xochime's sympathy could only extend so far before she knew her sister would crumble into anger. The two stayed silent, unwilling to comment on the squinting face or slow pace she moved at. While she made her way back to the borders, only the Crone followed; her sister would wait for her, rather than witness more cruel words. Tlantli didn't miss her sister's presence; Xochime was not the same hard woman as she, raised differently than she was.

Upon their return to the border, she crossed her arms firmly below her chest. It wasn't until the dark wolf had crossed the marked line that Tlantli raised one hand, pointing toward the northeast. "Your madre ess thaht way, leetle girl, in the mountans. Do not come bahk here. You ahre not welcome." And with the final words, she turned away, crossing the land to find her sister once more.

The female approached her, and pointed to where she would go. Rio nodded, grateful but didn’t say anything to her, and she didn’t wait for anything to be said. The female crossed the borders without another word, and Rio went on her way as well. The woman pointed toward the mountains, and that’s the way Rio was heading to. Hopefully, she would find her momma there and maybe some food and comfort along with it.

Her time back in Souls territory was not as good as she planned, and she even thought about leaving again once, but she would go see her Mom before she even decided anything. And maybe her dad, after. But before him, Harlowe. She wanted to see how the bastard was doing. She would need something to protect herself before heading to him, just so she didn’t fall into anything she didn’t want to do. Again.

Now, she had hope. She knew where she was going, and she was definitely going to see her mother. But how to get into the lands without causing trouble? She definitely didn’t want to go through another situation like the last one again. That was out, but maybe her mother would be lenient on her… We’ll see what its like when we get there.
