Colibri; I've spoken with Hanna, just call on her or something however that fits. Mew's den is in Wolfville.

Panting, Mew tried to get up. Only minutes ago she had collapsed, in pains worse than she could imagine. After her scramble with the inferni coyote, she had had various amounts of cramps along her lower spine; these were destroying her now. She had felt weak and ill the past few days, thinking it was not much more than the usual post-fight signs to go along with her pregnancy, also Hanna's kindly distributed herbs had helped somewhat. Calculating in her head, yes, the litter was due. But what was this; she had witnessed births before. Many could do it alone, but she doubted that she could. Legs trembled as she was trying to force her muscles to do her bidding, but they refused and she met the floor of the building she had chosen as her home. Looking back at her hind body, she saw her legs wrapped in blood, shaking, and she was certain this was not normal. She had expected pains, and blood, and everything that came along, but.. this? If this was the normal way around it she couldn't see how others seemed to be able to handle it by themselves. Once more she tried to get up, finding no strength. Her vision faltered, went from black to circling around her to black again, though she knew her head was still. Small whimpers left her mouth, but she was preoccupied with breathing and could see no way she could bear this. The pain was overwhelming, centered along her spine and somehow taking control of her hind legs. She would not be able to stand, nor control what was happening. She needed help. Taking a deep breath in, she attempted to howl, only halfway managing a loud sound before it was broken off, her usual so soft voice sharp with pain and desperation. Lying still, she gathered herself. That would not do. Concentrating hard to maintain consciousness. Once again she lifted her head a little, and using her body as pressure to her lungs she flung out another howl, tones leaded with urgency and a beg for help disappearing into the night. She could only hope they would carry out of the walls of the building and somehow reach.. someone. Anyone.

I'll be waiting here to meet you

It was amazing to discover new things every day. With so much from both worlds, the present and the past, these lands would never become boring to the snow kissed female. Today Wolfville was on the map, and Colibri moved slowly in the outskirts of the dead village. Her motivation was put on the test as the scent of Mew was present. In reality, Colibri was afraid of confronting her youngest baby girl. Mew had all right to be angry, and what the five year old female hated was that she could not justify her own actions in any possible way. It was so sad, so extremely sad that she had ruined what could have been a perfect little family. Lisichka was history, Haku had been ruined from within, Mew was emotionally rejecting her, and when it came to Melisande, Colibri did not know what to think.

She decided to enter the fallen human village nevertheless and just take the chance. No Mew, but after a little while the white female stopped dead in her tracks, believing she had heard a howl, but the sound had broke off, and Colibri knew that she had easy for imagining things. Ears flickered and was dead silent. What was the scent reaching her nostrils? The wolfess' tail hid between her hind legs, and a shiver slowly took place in her body. A second howl now clearly reached her fluffy white ears, making ice and fire invade her heart and claw at the very core of her being. It was blood that had slowly made its entrance to her smelling sense.

From standing dead in her tracks, the female broke out in a desperate run, following the source of the howl, the blood, the source of her love. She had never heard such a desperation in her daughter's voice. It reminded her of Haku's scream when the coyote and ripped off a part of his tail and tried to kill him for no apparent reason. Her heart pounded like a sick rhythm. Around two corners, up a few steps, into a building. The trails of blood that met her made tears threatening overpower her, but she forced herself to be cold. The white female hurried into a second room and found her little baby on the floor, shaking in cramps. Cuts and injuries from something that looked like it could be from a fight rested upon Mew, but those were not the source of the pain.

Was it not too soon for birth? Colibri had no idea how long Mew had been carrying. Ah, the lack of communication, why had she been so foolish. So much blood, Colibri had never seen so much blood. Something definitely was wrong, so sicken wrong. Colibri made the fastest were shifting ever, and kneeled down beside her usually white, but now white and crimson daughter. She laid her hands gently on the younger females furry neck and shoulder, muzzle gently finding its way to Mew's ear. " I'm here, baby, relax. I'm here, there is nothing to be afraid of." She sounded so extremely calm and controlled that she almost scared herself. " When did the contractions begin, darling? " Her hand stroke Mew's fur in gentle soothing movements. Her beloved baby girl.

Pains were cheating her of her sight now, sweat and tears and clingy wet fur coming in the way of her view. A pool of blood from her was slowly growing, not with extreme speed, but definitely growing, around her hind legs where she lay. A white form, like her own, appeared in the doorway to the room she was in. Mew looked at it, tried to raise her head, but quickly gave up. She had managed to twist herself over, so she was lying on her side now, less pressure on her back and stomach. Normally she would not have done it, as she was now lying on her infected shoulder, but the overwhelming amount of pain she was going through made it seem like a flea's bite in comparison. Through her distress, Mew recognized the scent as her mother, and relaxed. She had not expected her, but she didn't care who came. Colibri was someone, and someone was better than being alone. In a haze she watched the silhouette of the female change, rapidly, and soon she was at her side, comforting, soothing. She did not know how long it had taken from when she howled to when she had come, but it had felt like an eternity of hell. How long she had had the contractions? She did not know. She couldn't think, all her energy was strained and she was struggling even to stay conscious. Panting, she spoke into the warm comforting form of her mother, voice weak, and taking pauses to let herself breathe. A.. Few days.. small ones. Her eyes rolled back in pain and a weak scream left her mouth as another contraction hit her, one hind leg cramped outstretched backwards in a sudden motion. Sobbing, Mew tried to hide her face in her mother's furs, body wrecked with panic and pain. The mutinous behavior and feeling of neglect she had from the femme was all gone, she was with her mother now, and she knew she would do whatever it took to help her. Thank you

Colibri nodded soothingly as Mew talked, but her insides felt like fire and ice colliding altogether and creating hell within her being. A few days? No matter if they had been small, something was wrong. The milky white mother knew she had been lucky to have two easy births with not much pain nor effort. Both litters she had managed delivering alone, and first afterwards the rest of the family had arrived to greet the new souls. As the blood-soaked female thanked her dame, Colibri just shushed at her gently, stroking Mew's cheek gently, reminding her of the time when they had been small and she had lied cuddling them asleep at night when they woke up from bad dreams. This was a proper nightmare, and waking up was not possible, because it was actually happening.

The silver eyed female did not know what to do, but she knew someone who would. This would be hanna's chance to prove her worth of her herbalist rank. " I will get someone to help you, I'm not leaving you. " Quickly the female got up on her two feet and went outside the building. Unlike Mew's pitiful attempts, Colibri's howl was strong and powerful. It demanded the presence of the pack's herbalist. It was no request, it was the direct order from the alphess. The herbalist bluet had better to be around, or Colibri would not go easy on her, no matter what her excuse would be.

Turning around again, Colibri went back to the house, into something that had once served as a bathroom, finding towels that were still untouched and left in a closet. What else could she do, really? Colibri was far from a medic, and could just do the best she could while waiting for someone who could help. With some of the towels she cleaned up some of the blood, with another she wet from a puddle with its origin from the rain, gently cleaning Mew's face and body as best she could with careful movements.

Right, this'll be my last post unless I decide to throw one unconscious thingy in, she'll be passing out now. you two just do what you want and close it when you see fit? The little ones are black-colored/gray/white&black/gray, if you want to play that out.

I'm not leaving you, she said. But she did, though only physically, and perhaps not in mind, and only for a moment. As if in another world, Mew had heard her mother howl, echoing out into the night, and ringing within her skull. So it was that bad, not something the two of them could fight through. She had known it, really, but she had no energy to think of it, nor the consequences. And perhaps she did not have time, either. Her room was spinning, nausea creeping onto her, she was surprised she had not felt it before, and so Mew tiredly closed her eyes. It was possible that she had not been lying there for long, but it felt as if she had lived a lifetime, and she wanted to sleep. Oh how she wanted to sleep, to just close her eyes and let everything pass away into the comforts of dreamland. The mere thought sent her off to a semi-presence, suddenly startled when Colibri was with her again, wiping the sweat off her furry face and calming her down. The cloth was cold against her burning skin, and it sent a shiver through her body, yet it was relieving. Though she felt herself calming down, breathing slightly more steady, the contractions still gave her hell. She was losing blood, and too much. Though quite impossible, the white femme was pale, but she felt the opposite. A fire was burning all over her hind body, and she could not stop it. Paralyzed, her whole front felt numb as she just lay there and took the pain as it came. A few times she attempted to say something, opening her eyes to give Colibri attention, but she never got further than taking a breath in, and then had to release it again. Another contraction, and a violent one, made her breathe in sharply, through her teeth, making a hissing sound. The fires within her went wild with destruction, stretching out for days, months, years. Once it finally let go, Mew could feel her surroundings slipping away as cramps shook her legs. She heard herself whimper, and mentally attempted to hold on to her mother, yet it was futile. Breath stabilizing itself, Mew lost consciousness. She embraced it, and the relief it brought, with open arms, as if it would somehow save her from the nightmare she was living.

Entering the dusty clinic, quiet in disuse, Hanna hurried about until she found what she was after: a pair of hypodermic needles, cannulas that fit them, and a plastic bag, all wrapped in more plastic, as well as some packages that read "cleanser". She'd had nothing prepared for deliveries, as she'd not been expecting any so close to home. The female made a mental note to make up a pregnancy and delivery kit especially for instances like this. She then hurried back toward the house.

After entering, Hanna turned and shut the door. Her sister was sitting tensely by the fire, holding the blade as she'd asked. Hanna knelt by Mew and waited for the next contraction. She counted ten about six times during the contraction, then got up. She pulled some towels from the same place Colibri had procured hers and went back to Mew. It was time.

Looking to her sister, Hanna spoke with the authority only emergencies bring to the front. "Okay, bring the bowl of wet towels and the knife over here. Mew will deliver soon." Opening her satchel, Hanna withdrew several pieces of ivy. Moving to Mew's head, she turned first her forequarters then her hindquarters till the female was on her stomach, in a sphinx position. Then she gently but firmly pressed on her sides, just at the end of her ribs, to encourage the pups along.

I'll be waiting here to meet you

Hanna was extremely fast with her arrival, but Colibri still had to leash herself from screaming out what had taken her so long. It was the emotions that burned. She did not look up at the black female a second, just sat there watching the bloated little female that had minutes before lost consciousness. Tears had been running down her face for a little while now, but the female herself was silent, silent wiping off Mew's face and stroking the blood-soaked fur. She believed she had gotten away in the fire, but this was even worse, because she was being forced to watch her daughter die. No, not die, Mew would not die, Colibri would not allow it. Nor would Hanna.

Hanna threw out commands, and for a moment Colibri resisted, but she had no opinion than to obey and just be of as much help as she could. Most of all she wanted to cling to Mew and cry, but she knew that was not a valid option to use at the moment. She nodded rapidly and ran to find more cloth from where she had found the few towels. There was enough to take from, and some of the larger cloths she ripped in two and three pieces, letting there be different sizes for Hanna to choose from. Dumping the stuff at a dry stuff, she made her way into the kitchen, finding a metal bowl and more water from a half broken barrel with rain water she saw was all right clear.

She put the bowl directly on the fire, wondering what the hell to do as she had never ever boiled any water, and avoided fire in general, even if it was controlled. The bowl was only half full anyway, so the boiling water would have difficulties killing the fireplace no mater how violently it danced. The crimson eyed werewolf took the knife and held it into the fire, careful so that she would not burn herself. Wait. Red hot and clean when time comes to deliver? What the fuck was her sister going to do with the knife? Her hand was shaking, and she had to grab the knife with both hands, scared of losing it and getting any dirt on it.

She had barely noticed that Hanna had left the building, and irritation and frustration boiled up in her. What had Colibri expected anyway? Bippedi boppedi boop, Mew was all right? Yes, in fact something similar had been in her thoughts, but of course that was not how it worked, and she would only have to trust her sister in what she did.

Hanna came back just as quickly as she had left, and Colibri mentally whimpered, knowing she probably would have to witness her sister slicing up her daughter. If she had to then so be it, but the thought frightened the white female more than anything. She foolishly touched the bowl of water and burned her hand. She groaned lightly, but ripped the dirty blood soaked towel she had patted Mew with and placed them on the handles, lifting the bowl of hot water and cloth carefully away from the fire and placed it next to Susquehanna. Her eyes searched a moment for the knife, but she located it straight away. She had left it with the handle resting on a piece of wet cloth, but the rest of it was untouched by dirt and the blade was bright red in color. Oh how she hoped her sister knew what she was doing. Colibri picked up the knife and positioned herself beside Mew, her free hand softly stroking the passed out female’s fur. Colibri would hand Hanna the knife when told to. She closed her eyes and focused on the soft fur under her fingers. Please, she hoped this would end with as little tragedy as possible.

When the first pup arrived, Hanna knew that things weren't going to be as pleasant as a birthing typically was. Instead of wriggling and attempting to free itself from the mucus that lined its body, the child whose pelt was so close to her own was motionless. Tying off the umbilical cord in two places with the ivy, Hanna collected the knife from Colibri's hands and sliced the lifeline between the young and its mother. Using paws and careful claws, Hanna removed the mucus from the pup, wrapped it in a blanket, and chafed it, still checking Mew. When the pup didn't stir, Hanna laid the blanket aside.

The second child began to emerge soon after, grey head first, followed by an ashen body. This one was like it's sibling, still and quiet. The Herbalist used the same procedure as before to sever the umbilical cord, removed the sac, and laid the grey one next to her brother. A tear dripped from her eye as a third, white and black baby emerged, and then, with some help, a second grey. Both were freed from their sac and, after a quick check, laid next to their siblings.

Hugging her sister in condolence, Hanna turned her attentions to Mew. Her pups had not survived the attack, but it was her duty to make sure at least one wolf made it. Her first and second fingers found the vein in the upper and inner part of Mew's hind leg. The pulse was rapid and unsteady. Much blood had been lost, and more was going to be depleted with the passing of the placenta. Collecting the supplies she'd retrieved from the clinic, Hanna knelt in front of her sister to explain what was going to have to happen.

'Libri, if you want Mew to survive, you must donate blood to her. As her mother, you will have the closest match to her blood. I'll insert this needle, she brandished the sterile packaging, into your vein, drain some blood into this bag, then drain the blood into Mew's body through a similar vein. I wouldn't ask, but it's an emergency. May I? She waited for Colibri's answer, trying to compel the importance through her eyes.

They were all dead. She could not stop sorrow from watering her crimson eyes, and after the second child, Colibri looked away. She did not count the dead bodies, just kept her face turned away and her eyes closed. She did not know how long it took, she was too deep down in the dark to have any knowledge of it. A part of her wanted to sit here with her daughter, another part was desperate to get away from this whole scene, from this land, away from everything. She had been all right on her own as a loner. She had not joined any packs, was that not because she worshiped the loneliness?

Susquehanna touched her, an embrace or something, but the white and gray werewolf did not respond. Ashen ears flickered and perked as her sister’s words. Needles and blood. Colibri knew nothing, but simply nodded and laid her arm in Susquehanna’s lap. Her eyes were still closed. Susquehanna could do whatever she felt like, it did not matter. Instead of the sound of newborn souls, there was a silence that was unbearable.

Her sister merely nodded and gave up her arm to the black Herbalist. Hanna withdrew the other knife from its sheathe and carefully shaved the fur away from a section of Colibri's inner arm, wary against nicking her. Using the first two fingers of her right hand, Hanna felt the area she'd just shaved till she found a strong vein, then opened an alcohol pad and swabbed the area down. She opened the package with the IV needle in it and, finding the vein again, plunged the needle into Colibri's arm. She was rewarded with the sight of crimson blood flowing through the other side, where the tubing would attach. Closing off the end, Hanna opened the package with the bag and tubing in it and hooked it up, and when she lowered the tubing and bag, her sister's blood began flowing into the bag.

Inside a half an hour, Hanna was holding a full bag of blood. She opened another alcohol pad, withdrew the needle, and cleaned the area again. One hand applying pressure to the pad and wound, Hanna opened up her satchel and found her spiderwebs, which she applied to the spot as a sort of Band-Aid. The femme licked her sister's cheek and placed a hand on her shoulder. Colibri, if you want to, you can wait outside; I'll get you when she wakes. Not waiting for an answer, she repeated the process on her niece as she had her sister, using the inner part of her thigh to find a vein and this time, as opposed to dropping the level of the bag, she elevated it, draining the substance of life into Mew at a steady pace.

Time passed slowly as the her blood left her body and transferred over to the weird transparent human bag her dark sister was holding. Coli had not felt any pain as the other lady had inserted the needle, nor did she feel the cleansing alcohol rip in the little sting where the needle had been. It was the shock that was sinking in, surely, she could not gather her thoughts at all, and had only been patting Mew's pink pelt the last thirty minutes. Susquehanna asked if she wanted to go and wait outside. In such a situation Colibri would normally have answered no, but she was temporary stunned mentally, and she knew she was not of any help. The crimson eyed female did not want to witness whatever more Hanna had in mind. She did not trust human methods, and it was odd that a wolf like her sister had gathered such knowledge.

She got up and went outside, crunching down outside at the stairs, back against the cool wall. She closed her eyes and her mind drifted off to somewhere else.
