Rambled. 8D

On her two legs Caprica wasn't particularly built for walking long distances, but then, she wasn't really walking for the sake of getting anywhere fast. She was on the look-out, and so the tall luperci form suited her fine. From behind dark locks, the D'Angelo daughter kept an eye on the forbidding mountain range that hove in and out of view as she followed rocky paths east. She'd always wondered what lay in this direction, and really it had been the one place left to look for that large but strangely elusive family of hers. So here she was encountering the prospect of a mountain for the first time. She was travelling slowly, a little daunted. The rocks looked bare and unyielding after a spring spent amongst bountiful forest trees. But despite her pace, she moved with a swing in her step, hair in a short loose plait on the nape of her neck, bobbing behind her.

The sun reached its apex and found her just cresting the top of a small hill, puffing but proud of her climb, only to stand with wide eyes as she realised this hill was only a foothill, and only the first of many, and the smallest. She would really have to consider now whether to go on or not. She sat down with her legs out in front of her, watching the cloud shadows cross the undulating terrain that spread out before her, while sucking some honeycomb she'd saved from the forest. She loved having the taste on her tongue and the sweet scent of it on her fur; she often sought out beautiful smells, but could rarely find a way to get them to linger around her person. She wanted to make herself distinctive, recognisable - findable. But perhaps today it was finally her fate to do the finding. A wayward smell-trail breathed past her, and without deciding to rise, Caprica found herself on her feet. It was gone, lost in the nectar honey-scent, but she did not doubt her senses. That had been a familiar trail, and she knew now she had gone the right way. Too late to turn back, she found she did not want to - she truly yearned for her lost relatives, and she went forward to - she hoped - find them at last.

There was a spring in her step, and a speed that had been lacking before, a powerful strident walk that lasted until she almost lunged right over the border and came to a reluctant halt. It might have been her own flesh and blood that claimed these lands, but she knew her protocol. She stayed where she was, giving only a call of "Heey! Is anyone out there?" and then just waiting, shifting her weight restlessly, eyes roving the half-lit hillsides for a trace of approach.

Not sure if you were looking for someone specific, since it didn't say private, so you got me. YOU GOT ME, FRED. YOU GOT MEEEEEEEEEE. <3

The differences in days were showing their faces more clearly as he came into the world more frequently than he had in the past. The caves were his home, yes, and he appreciated their silence and their noises and the life underground but even Ravesque had to agree that the air could be stifling. The hulking shadow moved from the entrance and into the world, squinting in the almost unfamiliar sunlight as fresh air invaded his lungs — the call that caught his ears caused one of them to twitch. Yet another soul came to the invisible edge of the Anatheman territory and, almost reluctantly, the Acidic made his way toward the fading sound. It took a moment to travel from mountain to border, from home to stranger, but he maintained long and easy strides as he found his way to an unfamiliar face.

What he found surprised him — and pleased him immensely. The last time he had seen a newcomer, she had been a spindly coyote. This woman who waited for audience was just that, a woman, with height and strength and curves that he appreciated in any female over the sharp and skinny angles of most smaller wolves. Unusual to the face of the Zepar, he smiled. "I'm sure there are many of us out there; are you looking for someone in particular, Emerald?" Fire eyes met earthy green as he waited to hear her reason for approaching the mountains.

Ravesque! Long time no see. A Kiki is always a good thing. <3 (I actually know one irl who is one of my favourite people)

As if her anticipation caused her to enthusiastically blot out the notice of any other identities, it was a moment before she realised the nearing scent was one unfamiliar. The man who met her was as dark and tall as she, but had a masculine hardness the soft-skinned female lacked. Caprica, as if ignorant of this fact, gave him a sweeping appraisal with bold eyes, but the attitude shown there was belied as the look finished with eyes turning towards the ground and a reply given in polite tones. Of course, it sounded a little ominous - his mention of strength of numbers, despite his friendly appearance, as she knew very well that appearances could deceive. However Caprica was almost certain she could rely on a welcome when it was discovered she was here. "Well, Crimson," she answered him, words laced with a drizzle of honeyed humour not to be patronised, "I think you have someone back there who might be interested to hear a certain Caprica D'Angelo has stumbled over her new claimed lands." Spoken playfully but still meant as the clearest of explanations. She was floundering a little, it had been a while since she'd held a conversation.

Tack 'leader needed' into the title or something! <3 And feel free to PP them walking -- he plans on escorting her to the caves, because he's just such a nice guy when it comes to pregnant ladies like Nani.

One heavy hand rose to detangle thick locks of longer fur at the back of his skull, the other free hand resting at the joint of his hip as he waited for answers to a simple question. She seemed to know where she wanted to be — Anathema — so what ties to their underground could she possibly possess? She didn't seem in lack of home, so there had to be blood within the cavern walls. She answered in a honeyed voice, giving explanations laced with teasing; the whole effect was oddly captivating until he really managed to process the words that came from her jaws.

D'Angelo?

His head fell back over one muscled shoulder to call back into the lands for Naniko — he didn't care about the Rakeeb at this point, for it wasn't the Rakeeb's name that was tacked onto the green-eyed female, eyes so similar to those of the White Queen. The question turned to what was she? This Caprica could really be anything, child or sibling or niece or cousin, but he expected Naniko would clear that up.

Returning his gaze to the shapely, shadow woman, he beckoned to her to follow as he turned to face the pack lands. "It's easier to meet her by the dens in her condition; she doesn't need to travel more than she's already forced to." There wasn't much sympathy or explanation in his tone, but a sense of factual information that rivaled unhurtful, brutal honesty in the moment. The pregnant leader would suffer under undue stress simply because she was their leader — he didn't have to force her to undergo more just for a green-eyed face.

Short post; heading to work in a minute!

She heard the call and began a slow walk toward the pair, groaning as her back strained with the movements. By all rights the female should have been on bed rest or something similar; she had the feeling that it would not be too much longer before her litter would make its arrival in this world. It was great that there would be more pups in the pack; a wolf having a litter was always a joyous event in any pack, and Anathema was no exception to that. She would be relying on the pack to keep the borders patrolled and to keep her safe during her birth and directly afterward.

The large female rubbed at her back as she walked, trying to rid herself of some of the aches and pains. She had been laying down for most of the morning...that was probably why she was so stiff now. As she neared the two her eyes narrowed slightly, taking in the sight of the two dark figures walking together. One she easily recognized as Ravesque...but the other was not quite as familiar. Her daughter had changed over the months since she had seen her. She had shifted and had become much curvier, among other changes.

She had just gotten Rio back, it seemed. "Caprica?" Her voice called, nose recognizing the scent of her daughter as it drifted toward her on the breeze. Her heart thudded in her chest, breathing coming more quickly as she took a few more steps forward. "Caprica!" She was sure of it now, certain that the figure in the distance was her green-eyed child.

Her brows lifted wonderingly as mention was made of her mother's 'condition'. What could that mean? Injured, or...? "Lead the way..." she agreed with a slightly directionless hand movement as if shooing him along. She was heartsick to see Naniko. It had been so long. She remembered a tall, vividly pale figure with the strength - she imagined - of a bull and the speed of a bird. She remembered her mother so much larger than herself, but then, she had grown since that time. The journey to the den would not be necessary, Caprica knew the moment she heard the familiar voice and felt her heart leap in her chest. Her dancing eyes flitted desperately, found the figure of her mother. She was indeed as powerful a figure as Caprica remembered, but from her new adult perspective, not quite so awe-inspiringly huge. She had grown in other ways though. Caprica's face broke into a smile of delight, both sides of her hair pushed back to take in her mother more fully. Was she really carrying pups? But then the simple pleasure of seeing her again took over. Although Caprica never really let her guard down any more, she came the closest to it that she could. She danced with quick-stepping strides up to Naniko, her arms lifted as if to take her hands or embrace her, the same broad smile playing on her lips. "Hey Mom," she said in a soft sing-song lilt, but her eyes were bright and almost tearful. "I found you!"

Totally gone now. <3 Sorry for taking so long! >.<

She allowed him to lead her, and he started to walk the familiar path from the borders to the mountains. Silence was in the air with each new step. He had no desire to talk — he was more determined to get her to Naniko before someone else came forward, as that was who this woman needed to see. He was not a D'Angelo himself, but he claimed them as extended family through his son, Scorpius, and his heart (cold as it was) held a place for his Voodoo Queen. And it didn't take long for that place to flare, as her voice came to the pair along the airwaves. A scowl featured on his features as the pregnant Angela came forward; it was so close to the birth of her children, and his concern for her had extended so far into providing that he couldn't help worry about her excess movement. He could have easily brought the dark woman to the Angela's den, but that could have easily caused less of a chance to witness the reunion between the two. Naniko called her Caprica, and it wasn't until this Caprica said the word mom that a realization dawned on the red-eyed man. This was another of Naniko's children, which he should have expected.

Unwilling to take up more of their time than necessary, he grunted a noise of acknowledgement to Naniko as he passed the women, heading toward the mountains with his inelegant, masculine lope.

Sorry, dear, I just realized that you probably didn't know you could post in AT whenever! Since Caprica is family, she's welcomed in the pack! I'll get you titled up right now <333

Her hair was much longer than she remembered, her body more developed than the teenager that she had left behind in Phoenix Valley. She was overjoyed to see the girl, and even that much was an understatement. "Where have you been? What have you been up to, Caprica? Your sister Rio is around - I just saw her recently! She went off to see your father in Crimson Dreams...and then I hope she'll come back around so that you two can see each other. Have you come across Lucia at all?" That was the last child, the one who had now been missing the longest.

Ravesque left the scene without much word, but she was grateful for this. She wanted time to reconnect with her daughter and share the news of the pack and of her own life with her without interruption or watching eyes. "Please, come in. Are you going to stay long?" She asked. She hoped that Caprica would choose to stay with them; having her dark daughter back was a blessing indeed!

Her hands flew half-way into the air at the name of Rio, her mouth curving into a half-smile that would have looked half-hearted if it wasn't for the ecstatic gleam in her eyes, betraying the deep emotion within. So long alone, and now here they all were! She unconsciously noticed Ravesque leaving, a quick head-turn marking the movement, but then her mind was captivated once more by the joy of the reunion and the promise of more to come. "Lucia!" she exclaimed, about to ask if she was near, but then realising that this question had been for her. Her mouth tightened. "No, I haven't seen anybody, since I left the Valley." Well, nobody important, she thought. The odd traveller, mostly avoided. "And here y'are! This is wonderful!" Caprica gushed, washing away the past few months with a single toss of her black hair. "Stay long? Well, how does forever sound?" She grinned at her mother, knowing she had not even seen the territory yet, but it didn't matter. She had a home again, a real home.

Caprica was one of the children that she had always hoped to be reunited with. Naniko missed those children who hadn't turned their backs on her like her first litter had...she realized that she had left at an inopportune time and that the PV litter of pups had likely needed their mother...but it had been for the better of them all that she had gone. She'd returned with a new outlook on life and the strength and will to start a pack of her own. Right now she had Theodore for help...but he wouldn't be around forever. Naniko hoped to be.

It seemed that her dark daughter hadn't seen her sister. Naniko shook her head. "I haven't seen her either. I can only hope that she's alright...but boy, Caprica. Seeing you has just made my day. I'm so, so happy" And it was true. The white queen had very rarely been anything near happy in the last few days...this brightened her day and her outlook on the following days. "Forever sounds great. Welcome home."

The segment of her youth where her mother was gone was not something Caprica often looked back on fondly, it was true; but as kids often do she had somehow assumed it was all for the best, and now that seemed to have turned out to be true. Here they both were, and such a place. "This place looks amazing," she exclaimed. "And you look good, too... you look..." She tailed off, facing her mother full now. "You're pregnant, aren't you!" Caprica whooped. She was going to be a big sister. Her family was expanding before her eyes. She reached forward to give Naniko a congratulatory hug. In the flush of delight in the realisation, she forgot she hadn't thought to ask where her mother had been or what had brought her to this place in the mountain, or how life had been treating her in general. Caprica was caught up in the moment, and oblivious as children can be - even grown ones - and there seemed to be nothing but good news.

Mind if we close this one and have another soon? :3 I want to close all pre-puppy threads as soon as I can <33

The woman felt content for the first time in months. She had her family back with her - one who seemed just as happy to see her as she did them. Naniko hadn't been certain of some of the family members that had come to find her...Rio had left and she hadn't seen her since, and Helios had taken his own leave from the pack after a few short weeks...but she was glad to have all seen all of them nonetheless. In her mind, it was better that she had at least met them or gotten reunited with them and gotten to know them in that short amount of time than have no contact at all. She really had missed Rio and meeting Helios had been really touching, especially since Selene's death.

"I'll help you get settled in as well as I can. I've been more tired lately...and I should get to sleep before too long" She said. "We can talk more after you're settled in and after I've had a nice rest." She offered. It seemed that Caprica had picked up on the fact that she was carrying pups. Naniko wasn't certain how she would take the news...but it looked as if she would be in the clear. Caprica wasn't upset by them. "You have a brother back in the caves somewhere...Scorpius. I had him in the pack that I joined before coming back here. You should meet him soon"
