OOC: My apologies that htis came out later than I had planned it and it was short Sad

Eclipse had found her calling, she had perfected her hunting skills enough that she was an fairly good hunter. A provider of food, this made her happy. She hadn't hunted the day before and she figured she should get herself something good to eat today. She carefully went down the stairs to the first floor and bounded over to the door where a burst of warm air came flooding through, though it was much cooler than the still air in the building itself.

She had all the time in the world to kill so she took her time thinking of where to go to hunt. She sat in the shade by a tree in front of her home, thinking of what she would find out there. She was at peace right now and wasn't sure she wanted to hunt now. It was hot, and she wasn't sure what to do at all. She was torn in such thoughts because in her mind she didn't want to but she could feel it in her body, the pent up energy, the eagerness to get out and smell out some rabbit, or something slightly larger wanted to be let out. She sat in the shade continuing to think, hoping an answer would come to her soon enough

Nayru had stayed home most of the morning. When Gideon woke and left the petit female had lingered in bed in a most uncharacteristic manner. It was normally the two toned lady who rose first and crept from the apartment chambers on silent feet, long before the pack lands were buzzing with activity. The woman would make border sweeps, check in on the vineyards, the animals in the barns, then take the rest of the day to wander up and down the shores and through Trenton and Westville. When she found time for herself she would spar or hunt or simply tend to the garden outside of the apartment she shared with her closest family members. Yet more and more it seemed she did not need to tend to all these tasks.

The members of Ichika had seemed to take to their tasks rather quickly. The vineyards were doing better daily under the care of Siku and Nayru couldn't complain of Adonia's careful care of the animals either. The borders were often marked by other Ichikans when she found her way around them, and less and less did she run into members who were unhappy. Still some resentment for the merge lingered, but Ichika no Ho-en had seemed to take on its own life and Nayru no longer felt the pressure to try and keep it running. The pack almost seemed to run its self when all the members attended to their assigned task, it simply flowed in the most natural of ways.

And so Nayru did not feel guilty when the morning was mostly over and she rolled out of bed. Gideon and she had few belongings, but she spent the rest of the morning arranging what they did have in their apartment. Leisurely she would move one item from a spot to another, and sometimes she moved it back. Once all seemed to be in place Nayru moved to the door and finally emerged from the apartment. Compared to the filtered light of the apartment, the sun was blinding and Nayru stood blinking in the sunlight. When eyes adjusted to the change Nayru was not surprised to find Eclipse lingering outside in the shade of a tree. Easily she moved over to the girl and lowered herself beside the familiar face. Eclipse had come home and Nayru was glad, but still they had not had much of an opportunity to catch up. Nothing seemed more important just then.

“Namaste Eclipse, how does this day find you?” Absent mindedly she plucked at the grass beneath them and rolled a blade of grass between her fingers, turning her head and smiling at the younger girl beside her.

For once a familiar face came to view, it was Naryu. She liked her when she first met her, and her attitude towards the woman did not change. Not even when she heard she took Conor’s place. Her daddy had been the one to run off, and someone had to take charge. She envied the woman for she was one of those few who could hide what they truely felt. Eclipse could.... sort of.. well not really, but she was still training herself. She wanted to be that way though she guessed Naryu had always been a reclusive wolf since she was born.

“Oh hi Naryu, the day is finding me anxious. I want to do something, move my feet, get going somewhere, but I don’t know what or where.”

She said truthfully. Naryu had been the closes thing she had to a playmate back in Dahlia, she didn’t blame anyone for that in the least, she just cherished Naryu’s presence more. She had seen Naryu around but this was the first time they had been able to have a talk one on one. It made Eclipse feel warm inside to get to speak with her, not because she was the leader, though Eclipse would ultimately respect the woman just for that reason, but because she thought they were friends.

“I think I want to hunt... but I dunno, I’m not really hungry, just want to though...

She knew she made no sense, and felt bad that she wanted to hunt with no need for it. She was one for the circle of life and didn’t believe in really killing something unless it needed doing. She was strict on herself for that and would always try to find someone who could use the parts of the animal, like skin, bone, and organs she didn’t normally eat.. If she couldn’t she would bury them near the garden as she knew it would turn to soil soon and she could use that to help it. She put everything to use even if she couldn’t use it herself.

SO SORRY AGAIN. I must really suck or something, eh? 395

The crimson eyes did not break their stare as Eclipse explained her feelings. Anxious? Nayru was anything but anxious. Nerves rarely hit her, the calm and stoic woman accustomed to still any turbulent feelings. On most any day she could force herself still, and rarely did she even had to force it. Even as Conor left and Nayru moved the pack she did not let anxiety gain any kind of hold upon her, and so she felt it only proper to dispel the jittery feelings from Eclipse as quickly as possible. That she should be the one to be sitting with Eclipse, planning how to ease the girl's discomfort, did not spark Nayru as strange. Although she had not recently had much time to spend with the girl, she had loved the child since the day of her birth. Nayru had watched as Bris brought the girl into the world, and watched as both Bris and Conor had walked away. Nayru couldn't always be the one to fill in the gaps the two might have left, but she had tried where she could.

Without prompting the girl suggested what was on the tip of Nayru's tongue. Hunting. It was a fine way to unleash pent up energy—Nayru understood this more than anything. Not only energy, but it could be cathartic for the mind and spirit as well as the body. Yet the girl, so thoughtful and kind, had qualms about partaking in the sport for the sake of the sport it's self. Nayru understood this. There had been a time when she could not kill for herself, and yet, if one was willing, they could overcome any mental barrier. “If you aren't hungry we needn't let the meat go to waste. We could smoke it or even bring it to someone else.” Nayru guessed at the reasoning behind Eclipse's reservations, and with a sweep of her hand stood up. Already decided on their activity she looked to the chocolate colored girl, waiting for her to rise up. “Where should we hunt? You lead the way.” Together they could bring down a large animal, given the skill Nayru was already adapted with and the promise and potential that the Jiryu saw in Eclipse. And yet, they would need to, for Nayru would be content simply to see Eclipse content with whatever kill came their way.

OOC: Hey i suck so bad i am not using a table! Also i suck at knowing the territory very well.... and this is stinky short.
-------

Eclipse smiled at the woman. She was right! She didn't have to hunt for just herself! It was a brilliant idea, and Naryu wanted to come along. The young girl beamed at Naryu. Though she had little contact with Naryu, she still liked and respected her, especially since she ahd the authority, but for other reason's too. She smiled at the woman and stood herself, where she changed into her lupus form. This was the only form she knew how to hunt in. Though petite, she was quite agile. Wagging her tail she headed off to find a more wooded area. She headed toward the only place she knew which was Phoenix forest. Her nose was too the ground and tail high. She knew if she was ahead of Naryu the woman would catch up quickly.

pff, short posts are fine! 323

Eclipse seemed to brighten at the idea, they could hunt together and provide for Ichika. It seemed a perfect compromise, and surely the girl would have thought of it on her own given enough time. Nayru watched as the younger of the two shifted into her lupus form, the transformation happening seemingly effortlessly and quick. Inspired by the girl's quick change, Nayru shifted too although she was apt at hunting in any form she found herself. Her tall, two legged form soon became hunched over and the talons characteristic of the middle form sprouted from her now paws. As a secui she stood taller and bulkier than Eclipse, though the tiny lady was hardly large than the girl when they shared the same form. Nodding silent consent now that they both stood on four legs, Nayru let Eclips lead the charge away from the grassy yard they had been lingering in.

Soon Nayru realized where the two were headed: Phoenix Forest. Though half the forest still struggled to recover from the blaze that had reached it years ago, the forest provided a place for many of the prey creatures in Ichika. Eclipse was wise to choose such a location. The trek from their apartment to the forest was not an overly long one and Nayru felt no fatigue as they near the tree line. As they entered the area Nayru naturally slowed, her steps become near silent as her nose began to twitch. Hunting was second nature to the normally pacifist female, and it was not long before she picked up a scent. The smell was peculiar, and not normally an animal she thought of as prey, but it was the first thing she smelt. Porcupine. Turning blood colored eyes to the chocolate girl, the woman titled her head, as if to inquire if the girl had scented the creature as well, and if she felt adventurous enough to take on the challenge.

Eclipse moved swiftly towards the wooded area, happy to have her friend near her and to be sharing something like hunting together. She hardly had anyone she could really connect with, but then, she had hardly met anyone in the pack that was outside her family. Once close she did catch a scent, but this scent was noting she’d smelled before, though it told her brain to be cautious rather than to just run in blindly. Looking at Naryu she could see in the woman’s face she had smelled it too. The girl smiled and began creeping toward the scent. Though she was not that old, she’d learned at a young age how to hunt, though not as sucessfully as she was now. Upon coming near the creature Eclipse was finally able to see it. It had spines everywhere and when it walked it was a waddle, which shifted the spines to and from, making it look rather intimidating Eclipse looked at Naryu her face in a “What on earth is that creepy thing” look. This thing was... well it didn’t look like it belonged. It was just... STRANGE! She didn’t advance, though she was brave she’d never hunted such a creature and the spines on its back and tail was quite intimidating.

Nayru smirked at the girl's hesitance, though she was glad that Eclipse showed such good sense. Conor and Bris both had been level headed beings and their daughter had inherited that it seemed. In that split second Nayru realized how little she thought of the girl's parents, and felt a twinge of guilt. They had both given her so much, and rarely did their faces come to mind. Yet Nayru knew it was best to leave ghosts in the past, and as much as she had loved them that was all they could be. Simply she had to focus on caring for Ichika as Conor had cared for Dahlia, and caring for Eclipse as Bris might have done. But then, Bris had left her child at one point, and Conor had left Dahlia. A bitterness washed over her that she did not allow to stick. Those unhappy truths too were in the past. All the piebald lady could do was vow to follow neither of those paths.

Crimson eyes sparkled as she nodded to the younger girl. Even if the creature was a challenge, it was one that together they could conquer. The animals was slow, if well guarded. Alternating between keeping her eyes on the animal, and making eye contact with Eclipse she bagan to dance around the animal, springing here and there, towards and away from the quilled creature. Now and then she snapped at the thing, though inches away and the animal responded with angry grunts. The porcupine was getting riled up and began to waddle faster, trying to steer away from the pair of canines. Nayru knew that parts of the animal were softer than the rest, and they only need expose the underside of the thing. Nayru continued springing here and there, like a cat leaping in play, and hoping that Eclipse would catch on to her plan of throwing the animal off balance.

OOC: Death to the porkypine!!

No words needed to be exchanged, this was instinct enough for Eclipse to know, the thing, however was far to alien for her to actually consider food. How could she move in for a kill. It was spiny from head to toe and she'd had plenty of experience with bushes and prickles, these looked like they could be deadly. With a look at Naryu she could tell the woman wanted to take it on, and with her experience Eclipse knew that if she followed through with the woman she might learn how to take one of these things down.

It took only a few jumps for her to understand what Naryu was trying to do. She started dancing around it and nipping at it as well. She even barked once or twice, but she never went for it entirely, she was far too apprehensive about that, and she wanted to see what Naryu would do. She would just try to keep it distracted and disorientated until Naryu made the move. She'd gotten in almost too close once and was nearly hit in the face with its tail, but it missed by inches, though it brought a rush of adrenaline to Eclipses' body and she was starting to understand how much of a challenge this could be, and that it might not be done with just one wolf.

Nayru continued springing in and out of the path of the confused creature. The large rodent protested with quick exhales of air, akin to a grunt, and its displeasure only increased as the younger of the two canines caught onto the game. With the two of them springing in and out the animal didn’t know which way to look, and this was what afforded Nayru the opportunity to charge in and snap at the creature’s face. And yet too quickly the large rodent realized that an attack came from one side and lashed its tail at the woman. Having seen the attack attempted on Eclipse the black and white lady knew it was coming. Effortlessly she sprang out of the way and was glad when the animal’s attention was once more drawn to Eclipse.

As soon as its head was turned away from her again she went back to moving around it, diverting its attention from the girl and then springing away. The porcupine grunted angrily, it’s quills quiver as it shook its body. The dance could have gone on all day, but the animal was smaller than the wolves and though it exerted less energy than them it too grew weary. When the movements of the animal were slower Nayru again rushed in, this time finding a soft patch of skin to tear at towards the creature’s head. It was at the same moment that the metallic tasting liquid met Nayru’s tongue that the animal’s tail met the side of her body. Without so much as an exclamation Nayru jumped away, taking a few quills stuck to the sick of her shoulder.

The woman didn’t seem to notice the barbed quills in her side, merely she looked from the bleeding porcupine to Eclipse. Surely but slowly, very slowly, the animals would bleed to death. Or they could finish it off quicker, but for the moment Nayru stood, catching her breath, and watching the predator and prey animal as if she were an outside observer and not a recently wounded participant.

Eclipse started getting what was going on when she saw the animal tiring. That was how they were getting closwer to it, and soon she saw the “game” in a whole new light. She moved too and fro, keeping out of the way of those quills. She saw Naryu jump in once, but the porcupine was quick and by using it's tail, moved her back. Then as the animal became more notably tired Naryu charged again, this time biting hard before getting a shoulder full of quills, she moved back as though she couldn't feel them and eclipse had stopped for a second concerned, but remembered there was an angry porcupine. Now it was up to her to get this thing down, that was until Naryu was up to joining in again. Eclipse kept movng around it, seeing where Naryu had bit, if it was tender on that side, it should be on the other, and she started moving the opposite way, before she thought of the best opportunity and she took it. Swerving a little she bit deep into the skin of the smaller animal and as expected the tail went straight for her own flank, but she moved in time to only get a leg full of quills, well only one or two, unlike Naryu she was no where used to pain that even the adrenalin from the whole thing could mask it. And she did yelp but she continued on, her tongue hanging out of the side of her mouth, as she circled the dangerous animal again.
