The worn knapsack that had served her so well in the past was once again packed halfway full of items the young Lykoi deemed would prove useful during her trip. She left room for items she might acquire while away, but made sure that in no way would she be leaving any essentials behind. Though she rode Daisy bareback, Clover had slung her purple tapestry over the white mare’s back so that she would have it with her for the journey. In some ways it looked like a makeshift saddle, though more aesthetic than functional.

Her plan was to leave behind her new home of Salsola for only a few days. She knew that her second birthday was drawing nearer, thus meaning her siblings would also be getting older. She hoped to stop and visit them all, and perhaps have a small celebration together. And since she would be traveling the distance, Clover decided that she might as well extend her trip to include a journey into the city of Halifax. It had been quite some time since she had wandered to the city, but Clover was sure she’d be able to bring back some valuable supplies for the thistle kingdom’s disposure.

The mare and coyote duo had set out early in the morning; a silent departure from her new family. With her knapsack slung securely over her shoulder, Clover pushed Daisy into a gallop so that they could cover the territory of Salsola much quicker. Perhaps it would have been wise to spare some of Daisy’s energy, but Clover was eager to get her journey underway.

It only took them a few hours to finally see the piked borders of the coyote clan’s lands. The twenty miles had not nearly taken Daisy as long as it would have Clover, but it was obvious that she was not be able to maintain a strong gallop for quite a while. Though Clover had alternated between a cantor and gallop every couple miles, much of Daisy’s energy was spent. That was fine, though. Clover would let the mare round Inferni’s territory at a moderate trot, while she sat back smoking and contemplating the simplest of things.

By mid afternoon the duo had rounded about Inferni’s claim to land, and wound up in the Dampwoods not far from where Clover knew D’Neville was situated within the borders. They would rest here for awhile, before Clover ventured to the borders in search of her siblings. Their birthday wasn’t for another day or so, but the hippie girl had never really had a firm grasp on such things. All she knew was that fall was drawing nearer and this was when they celebrated their birth.

For now, Clover had swept the tapestry from Daisy’s back and set it on the ground like a makeshift picnic blanket. She reclined, smoking one of the many joints she had rolled in preparation for her trip, while Daisy went off to graze nearby. Pale golden eyes went to the sky, searching for signs of rain or ill weather. Yet the sky was clear and a slight breeze warded away any lingering heat, and so it was the perfect day for a celebration.

This post is yuck D:

It was hard to believe his second birthday was only a number of days away, especially considering he had spent so much time in Juniper Peace after all his siblings had left him. It was ironic, really, that he had been the last to remain; he had hated Juniper Peace with every fiber of his being and had never understood nor wanted to follow their hippie, treehugging ways, unlike his three sisters. He had remained in Juniper Peace only to see to it their mother was all right; the death of Storm Lily, disappearance of Razekiel and consequently slow leaves of each of her daughters had taken a toll on Ocean Flower. She'd smoked more marijuana than usual, drank more, stopped having sex... What was a black sheep son to do? After some time she'd assured him that she would be fine if he left for his own purposes as well, and so he had done so... but more than once had he dreamt of horrible fates befalling his mother in his absence — and even if she was a goddamn hippie, he did love her, just like he loved his sisters. His father, of course, was a different story entirely.

Ocean Flower had made him promise to look after his sisters should he happen to find them, and though Micah had never in his wildest dreams expected to find one, let alone any of them, ...he had. Last he'd known, they were in Inferni, and he did miss them dearly. Cercatori d'Arte was a wonderful place, but lonely for a man of such anxiety. Very few could calm him of his tremors and nervousness, but his sisters were one. To enjoy the company of someone else — to feel not so alone for a little while — with a calm body and peace of mind... he wanted nothing more.

So he'd approached Inferni, thinking all three sisters were still hiding in its fortress, but the closer he came the more his nervousness spiked. For hours he had stared at the skull-tipped pikes from the safety of the bushes, rattling the leaves with his shaking body. Should I call? No... someone else could show up, and try to kill me... I could get them in trouble, maybe they don't like visitors here... Um...

Discouraged and ashamed of himself, he'd turned and started for home again, even despite the very long journey by foot it had been to get to Inferni in the first place. Sighing, he moved quickly, afraid to run into anyone on his way back, but caught the smoke of marijuana in his lungs the second he stumbled upon his sister and her strange little picnic. "Clover?" he said, surprised at first, but smiling slowly. "Clover, what are you doing out here? Can I, um, sit with you?"
