Knife Skills
#1
Ayasha went to J’adore and Mizu’s home for two reasons. First, was to see the pups. Second, and in some ways more importantly, was to see if J’adore could teach her to fight with knives. She knew that with all the things that were going on in the Tribe it would be good to know how to defend herself, and others.

Granted, it was important even if Maska hadn’t come but with his arrive, it was critical that she learn. She only hoped that J’adore remembered that he said he would teach her. She wouldn’t always be able to avoid fighting or to have someone protect her. What had happened to Shiloh taught her that.

She knocked on his door. ”J’adore?” She called softly so she didn’t wake up the pups or Mizu if they were asleep. ”It’s Ayasha.” Not that he couldn’t tell that it was her. But she thought that it was safer to make sure that he knew that it was someone he could trust. She paused. When had she become so paranoid? Maska! She scowled briefly at his name and what he has done to her Tribe. She would love to put a knife into his back.

this thread will have to be more focused on fighting than the pups :| this fails

J'adore had set a time and date for the lesson with Ayasha. He had cleaned the knifes, checked that each of his knives were in working condition and would not break and cause any injuries. He had carefully set them up outside the cabin, high up on a table away from Iskander and Ferrari. The former of which had spoke his first 'word' that morning. A rather discontented 'FERRR!' Despite the tension of the situation, at least for the puppies, J'adore found a smile playing on his lips.

The pair had continued their individual activities inside, while J'adore grabbed a few medical supplies incase. He had just finished when a call at the door came. Surely it couldn't be time already? He shrugged, turning to the door. 'Ayasha?' he asked opening the door. 'Come in. The pups are awake, so don't worry'.

Ayasha didn't get a chance to come in, as the pair of pups moved outside before she could. 'Er, nevermind' J'adore said with a laugh, 'I think they want to see some action'. The duo yipped in agreement, Iskander with a little less enthusiasm however. 'Grab a pair of knifes' the Spaniard said as he took up his own personal pair, the handles coated in colored string grips and feathered tassles at the end.

She didn’t have to wait long until J’adore opened the door. She giggled at the two pups that came rushing out. ”Hey, munchkins.” But she went over to the table and looked at the knives. There were many kinds and she decided to grab a simple pair of knives to learn how to fight with them. She picked them up and felt them. They were rather lightweight but well made. She could that even if she didn’t really use them. She would need to get her own pair soon. It would not do to keep borrowing other wolves’ knives.

She stepped outside and gave the Austral boys a grin. ”Well, they get to see their daddy beat their ‘cousin’.” She and J’adore weren’t truly related, of course, but she viewed him as her uncle and he was her siblings’ godfather. She turned serious. ”What do we do first?” She wasn’t so sure about whether or not she would do well but would need to learn for her own protection.

Ayasha hoped that J’adore would go easy on her at first. She hadn’t really used these before. The only time she had used it was during the hunting trip they had with Saxif.

3+!

Ferrari was the first to approach the snowy female, cautiously she moved forward with her oversized paws until she reached the girl's feet, 'Ayyy?' she asked, only knowing the word from her father's rather one sided conversations. She sat, stretching her neck up to peer at her cousin. Soon she was joined by Iskander, who positioned himself beside her. A frown played on his lips, small and odd looking as it was, it was evident he was considering something. He turned to his sister, who in turn turn her head towards Ayasha. 'Ferrrrrr' there was a pause, before the chocolate pup, 'Ikkkk'. It was an introduction of some sorts, but to the duo bellowing as much of their names as they could handle was a small feat.

J'adore moved forward too, leaning down to ruffle their head fur and smiled. 'The brown one is Ferarri and the white one is Iskander'. In truth the pair were much more decorated than their father had put it. Ferrari's eyes shone a vibrant blue and the smooth chocolate brown that covered most of her body was broken by a chest and stomach of soft cream. Iskander was a man of contrast, his paper white body was broken up by a series of black marks along the top of his body. And his baby blue eyes were fading into what J'adore assumed was green.

He moved away from his children, making sure they stayed away from the danger. Both sat quietly, eyes wide. 'Okay Ayasha. Put these on the end of the knives'. He threw her two leather shethes for the knives, to make sure the sharp blade edge was out of the way. In any other situation he would have used woden knives, but he trusted Ayasha. And face it, times were though and she needed real skills quick. When she had slipped them on, J'adore spoke, 'Okay, what you need to do is, get a nice low stance. This will balance you out. The way you attack is personal, everyone does it differently. So just launch youself at me'. He demonstrated everything for her, smiling again before readying himself, 'Don't worry, we can't hurt each other while the knife caps are on'.

Ayasha giggled at the attempt of her name. ”Yep. I’m Ayasha.” She looked at the two pups. The girl looked a lot like her father but had different eyes and the boy had looked like Mizu. But there was a Austral feature that neither of them had. Ferrari looks like you and Iskander looks like Mizu. But neither have your white eyes. Leon also has them. Are they a family feature?” She couldn’t recall if Analise had those eyes or not.

She caught the leather sheaths and also moved away from the pups. She slipped them on and followed his instructions. But she gave a snort of laughter. ”I highly doubt your worried about me hurting you.” She paused and considered what she would do. ”Is it in bad taste to sneak up on your opponent?’

She hoped that it was OK to sneak up on her opponent since she was rather good at sneaking. Plus, she wasn’t all that strong so any attacks she made would be best made as a surprise. But she did charge at him and tried to give his stomach a stab. She would figure out how she was best at attacking and hopefully J’adore would help her figure out how she could best fight and protect herself.

OOC Talk

He hadn't really noticed that about his children, but he guessed it was true, now that he looked at it. Ayasha then asked about white eyes and he shrugged, 'I'm not sure, but I guess if we both have it could be considered as so'. He frowned softly, 'White fur seems to be your family's trait. Poor Aleu, she seems to be the odd one out'. He knew that she had relatives not in AniWaya that resembled her, but with even Ayasha being white, he couldn't help pitying her.

'No, not particularly. Not with the leather caps' he smiled, giving a chuckle himself. 'And yes, thats why knives are small'. It was true, where he came from knives were the weapon of thieves and assassins and although that made them sound like the devils own creation, they were also the weapon of warriors. Small, quick and versatile, J'adore loved the things.

As Ayasha came at him, J'adore readied himself. As she attacked, he saw loopholes, she aimed for his stomach. The warrior struck down, not even needing the knife. Ayasha's knife touched off of his body, but before it actually stuck his fully, J'adore's wrist had knocked it away. The warrior and the scout parted, both needing a moments break. 'That was good, but you need to attack in less obvious ways, aim and then fake it, and attack somewhere else'. He paused, 'Again'.

OOC: Tell me if what I had her do was wrong or what not.

IC: At the mention of her baby sister, she sighed. ”I think she does have a hard time being the only white one in the family. Even I’m white, and I’m adopted.” Of course she still considered everyone who was her family as her flesh and blood. ”We try not to bring it up if can help it.” It really wouldn’t be fair if they did so they didn’t.

Ayasha just shrugged at the leather caps but did have a grin at being able to sneak. ”They won’t know what hit them.” She left it very vague but she was rather hoping that one of the people she could stab was Maska. She was about to visualize what she would do when she realized that now was not the time for it.

As she charged at J’adore, she wasn’t really surprised that he blocked her attack. She gave him playful glare and growl but backed off slightly. She nodded at his suggestion and came up with a plan. She smirked and ran towards him again, acting like she was going to stab him in the same place but rolled underneath him and stabbed at the nearest body part, which happened to be his butt.

OOC here!

J'adore nodded, it was an odd thing. Though he supposed that as she aged she would realised that pelt colour meant very little. The Spaniard rubbed his wrists, twitching them to alieviate the pain that always corsed through them when he fought, it was natural of course, something that would go with training. 'Aleu will learn that it all means nothing soon'. J'adore smiled, taking up his capped knives again.

'No, they won't. But remember fight silently' he said watching Ayasha's moves carefully, he knew she was talkative but she needed to remember to be quite when fighting. He moved came as a surprise to the Spaniard who was thinking that his neice was ready to strike his front. By time he had realised, the attack was well under way and the only trhing he could do to avade the attack was to swivel around, but even then the leather tipped knife caught him at the waist. He stumbled backwards to clear space ready make his own attack when Ayasha had risen to her usual height. He smiled, aiming for her legs. 'Also remember to use your surroundings and the rest of your body to fight with'. He slide down, attempting to take out her legs, if his attack succeeded he would continue to pin her down and lecture her on what she had done wrong. Otherwise he would congratulate her on a wise move.

Ayasha nodded in agreement with J’adore’s assessment of Aleu. She’ll eventually not care that she is the only white one in the family. But until then, they all had to be careful about mentioning her fur color. It was hard on her with even Ayasha, her adopted sister, was pure white. At least the boys each had a grey sock on a foot.

She nodded at being silent. Although she liked to talk, when fighting, she knew that she needed to be silent. She could vaguely hear the pups cheer at her move, which made her smile but she still stayed silent. She stood after her move and waited to see what J’adore would do next. She was light on her feet and a lot shorter than he was, which was finally a good thing.

As her uncle slide down, she waited until he was about to hit her legs then she jumped and rolled out of his reach and tried to use the fact that he was slightly off-balanced. She gave his back a slight push and hoped that he would take a tumble. Of course she didn’t want him to get seriously hurt. But she might need to hurt people to protect her family and herself.

OOC → Ending the knife fighting and moving onto staff fighting since that's whats he's teaching Ralla. we should do another one too, where he teachers her how to control a horse in a fight. if you like ^^

The two fought for a while longer, both equally as skilled as each other most of the time. Undoubtably Ayasha had natural skill, her size and speed was truly amazing. But then again, while larger and therefore unable to move in the places Ayasha could, he had experiance, and size. In the end, they were both evenly matched when it came to moving, Ayasha copied J'adore's moves and adapted them to suite her. J'adore had even adapted some of the moves she had created andused the to his advantage. In the end, it was a clear draw.

Both had tired, and after a short break. With fresh water provided by J'adore, Ayasha, the Spaniard himself and the pups settled down for a while and spoke. When everyone had finished, the pups went back to their games and J'adore and Ayasha found themselves at a loss. The Spaniard thought for a moment before running inside to get the wooden poles. When he brought them out he gave one to Ayasha, 'They're a little big, but we'll see how you get on'. He moved away, stancing himself, 'Do this'. J'adore, gestured to his stance. 'And hold onto the pole with two hands, evenly spaced, and swing your hands, it makes either side of the pole move'.

OOC: That would be great.

IC: She and J’adore were doing quite well, with J’adore giving Ayasha pointers when she needed it. She was quick and admittedly was very talented with using knives, whereas J’adore was bigger and more experienced. But by the end of the teaching session, she was glad for the water and the rest. The pups seemed excited about their practice and decided to try and recreate it. She shook her head with amusement. Those two seemed like a handful. They would get along well with her brothers, and possibly Aleu.

She decided to voice that thought. ”I think these two would get along well with my siblings. They should play sometime.” Of course her mother and Mizu would also have to agree with the plan. But saw no reason why they couldn’t.

But the break soon came to an end and J’adore handed her a staff. They were quite a bit big. ”Do I really need to learn to use these?” But she mirrored her stance and gripped the pole like he said. She tried to swing at him but nearly fell over from the extreme movement. But she righted herself and tried again, this time managing to take a swing at his chest. She just hoped that she didn’t whack him that hard.

OOC Talk

As Ayasha spoke of her siblings, J'adore agreed, 'Yes, when all this... mindless conflict is resolved, we should let them meet up, have a party of sorts'. He drifted off for a second, a party sounded like an excellent way to see off a back period in history. Back home there had been a storm, nothing too large, just large enough to take fishing from the boats and from the beach off of the menu. It lasted for a fortnight or so (J'adore couldn't really remember all too well, he had only been young then) before it subsided. They had celebrated with a large fishing festival. Competitions, eating, games, everything a person could dream of. He didn't sleep for the whole night, or at least maybe that's what he thought.

Ayasha seemed to struggle with the size of the staff, but after another attempt she managed to strike him lightly on the chest, ThoughJ'adore had thought about the larger staff size and in hindsight had laid a pair of staffs, to the side. Both were shorter, child size, since he had aspired to teach his children and the other young of the pack to staf fight when they were old enough. Turning he saw Iskander and Ferrari knocking them about, so with a abrupt whistle and a short glare, he made his way over and picked up the wooden duo and passed them to the snowy girl. 'Try these' he said with a smile.

She was excited about the possibility of having a party. ”We can do another hunting party!” She really enjoyed doing that before. Though she did wonder about the far off look on J’adore’s face. She gave him a slight nudge. ”You alright?” She wasn’t concerned about it but curious about what he was thinking about.

She gave giggle at the young pups trying to smack each other with little staffs. She shook her head in amusement at their antics. She was grateful that he handed her two short staffs that she could wield one in each hand. She gave her a grin. ”These are much better. Thanks!” She weighed them and realized that they were enough like daggers that she could use some of her moves in using them.

So she decided to charge at him but veered to the side to the get around him. She then used one stick to whack him on the waist while keeping her other stick ready to parry whatever attack he used on her. She did give a slightly playful growl as she attacked him with a stick. She also had a smirk. She was learning how to use fight using her speed and apparent ambidexterity.

'Yeah, perhaps. But we'd have to put something else on for the pups and whoever is going to watch them' J'adore said, giving his words careful consideration. He didn't want the pups in any danger so by making sure they were far away from the hunt would give him peace of mind. He was sure that Mizu, at least if she was well enough, would be happy to watch the pups. And Ahiga, Aleu and Alaster would be back by then, and they'd finally be able to meet their pseudo cousins. Yes, they would have a wonderful party when all the trouble blew over.

J'adore gave the spot where Ayasha struck him a quick rub, 'Yes, I'm fine'. He smiled, glad that if she had caused him a sliver of pain, him being family, imagine what she could do to people she didn't like. He glanced over to his children, trying their hardest to smack each other, even when the smaller sized pair had been replaced with the larger ones. J'adore saw no point in stopping them, they weren't being too boistrous.

As Ayasha's attack came, a swift strike to his waist, he crouched, the impact hitting the staff which he had laid against his arm to take in the whack. She was ready for his attack, so moving the staff against his arm into a better position. Attacking with the opposite staff, Ayasha defended with her own. And seizing his oppertunity he used the other one to strike at hers legs. Gently, but enough to knock her down.

She nodded at his suggestion, already thinking about what they could do to entertain the pups. Maybe ask someone from CdA to entertain them? That was a possibility. But there would be time for planning that later. First they would have to get to that possibility. And it might be awhile before that happened.

She looked a bit sheepish as J’adore rubbed the area that she struck him. But she wouldn’t feel sorry about striking her enemies. Though she had to say that she liked knives a lot better. They were easier for her to handle and if she did strike someone to kill, she would know that they were actually dead. What a morbid thought. But it was true.

She could tell that J’adore knew what he was doing. She managed to defend against his first counter-attack. But the second one, although she saw it, there wasn’t much she could do to defend herself. So she allowed him to knock her to the ground. But she took one of her staffs and aimed for the back of nearest knee, hoping to catch his leg and sweep him down to the ground. She leapt to her feet, ready for the next attack.

OOC:: another few posts and we are pretty much done ^^

J'adore's attack worked, but as the moves progressed he sensed that Ayasha had allowed his attack through. He felt the wind gushing towards the back of his legs, and immediatly acted on it. He dived down beside Ayasha, letting the staff glide over his body, yet never touching. Nice try he thought, pushing himself to his feet and lifting both sticks over his head. He landed them down in a cross shape over her chest after pinning her down. Her arms weren't so secure and both of his staffs were occupied, but this was a good position.

If word got around to the leaders that he fought well, his rank could raise soon enough. But then again it was just fighting Ayasha and she was a packmate. Hopefully his common border patrols were not being unnoticed, he usually made two patrols everyday. A morning one followed by training, lunch, rest and then another patrol most days. The only days it veried was when someone asked something of him and when he needed to go out of AniWayan territory. He tried to keep a schedule so that people who needed him knew where abouts, roughly, he would be.

She frowned as he dived down beside her, her attack missing him. She was about to rise when he pinned her down and placed his sticks across her chest. Her arms were fairly free and she smirked, holding them so they stuck up and stabbed at him, hoping to get him in the stomach. She then lifted her head sharply, hard enough to knock his head back but enough to cause him to be all that hurt.

So she fought dirty. It seemed to work and as hopefully J’adore wouldn’t reprimand her for fighting that way. It was his fault for telling her to use her body to attack. So if he let himself get hit by her head, it was his own fault. She knew that he needed this for ranks and that she needed to learn to fight with everything that was going on. So it worked for both of them.

Her patrols were much less scheduled. She went when she felt like it and liked people not knowing where she was. It made her trying to rebel easier. And the Guardians rarely left the village or the stables so she could go clandestine things without them noticing. Ah, the life of a rebellious scout.

OOC:: if you can end with yours that be great, im swampped atm and this is kinda ending already^^

Ayasha had natural talent, and even though J'adore had toned down his abilities down so as not too injure her, Ralla would no doubt be at his neck if that happened, he had to admit that the girl had it down to a tee even in the first few moves. Knife work and staff work alike. They calmed down their battling to a mere stretch and then finally finished their session. J'adore again let his hiar down, there was no need to tie it up for speaking. He moved over to the porch and sat between a spot free for Ayasha and his duo of minions.

'Ayasha' J'adore said, passing over cup and a water jug for her. 'I have to admit, you have natural talents. We shall have to organise another session, and then maybe I can show you how to encorperate these into some riding too'. Riding was something else he found himself skilled in, maintaining his combat skills even when at a different height. Ferrari hopped up onto J'adore's lap a yipped lightly, 'Da!' The Spaniard laughed, 'And I suppose we'll have to teach Fer' how to fight too'. Iskander hopped up along side his sister happily, 'You want to learn too?' There was a moments hesitation before Iskander nodded slowly, a little less eager than his sister to, in his mind, get beaten up and stuff'.

Ayasha found that she was rather good at fighting. She knew that J’adore was going easy on her but she was glad for it. It made her feel better about herself and more confident in her abilities. Which she knew was good for a beginner. But she was grateful when they stopped. He followed him to the porch and settled down.

She was even more grateful for the water. She guzzled down a couple of mouthfuls and then settled for smaller sips. She nodded at his praise. ”Thanks J’adore.” At riding and fighting, she nodded but was unsure about that would work. But she supposed that she could use to learn how and would enjoy J’adore teaching her. She loved hangout and learning stuff from her ‘uncle.’

She gave a giggle as both his kiddies wanting to learn to fight. ”You two might want to wait until you can shift.” She then stood up. ”I should get going. Thanks J’adore.” With a wave to the two pups, she headed back to the treehouse that she shared with her mother and siblings. She whistled as she walked off, proud that she could finally defend not only herself but also her family and Tribe.
