22nd September . 10am . Phoenix Forest . Lupus Form

Dawn broke over the late september morning and the young male woke quickly. He'd gotten used to waking up on his own now, gotten used to the idea that Siku was not coming back. And though occasionally his mind would shift towards her, he did well to push her away and forget about her. She obviously hadn't cared about him in the way that he cared about her if she would abandon him without a backwards glance. It had been nearly two months since she'd gone and he was doing well at getting on with his life, although he could always see what he thought to be pity in his brothers eyes whenever they met. He already had it all and he must have seen how much Saul had hurt when the white woman had first disappeared. Saul had much more to concentrate on at the moment though and it was the small festival tonight that held his attention. Rising and heading over to the East River to bathe and wash away the night and previous days muck from his coat, the young Hui K'o spent the next few hours purging his mind of all that had happened the past few months. He didnt want to think about it.

He'd told Eclipse to be in the lobby of Cerne Rise early in the morning, but her early and his early were two completely different things. His early was before dawn whilst hers was probably about half nine or something. He knew he had a little while to kill yet so he moved out towards the Abbey. He would have gone to see the horses, check up on the newest addition to his brood of animals. Gypsy had been with them almost a month and was consequently nearly a month pregnant as far as her scent was telling him. Hermes' had gotten his wish, although there seemed to be a rivalry between the two mares that were pregnant with Hermes' foals for the stallions attention. Saul tried his hardest to keep them away from each other as much as possible until everything settled down and the two no longer hated one another.

He stayed a while in the Abbey gardens before the autumn sun told him it was getting on. He said a silent fairwell to the waterfall before moving back down the valley towards Trenton. They would be coming back this way shortly, but it seemed rude of him to ask Eclipse to meet him out in the forest. It took him about half an hour to get back to the house he had been working on since July. He entered the house through the doors that he and Temo had found, taking in a deep breath. It was starting to smell like home, that was for sure. Settling down in a cross legged position on the floor he waited for Eclipse to descend to the floor so that they could get hunting.

Eclipse was excited, therefore she didn't sleep as well as she could have, so she figured she would surprise Saul. She was not normally one to sleep in herself, but didn't know that he thought her to be one of those late risers. So when she creeped into his room and jumped on his bed yelling

"Surprise!"

She was very disappointed that she didn't see him. Looking around she thought she had slept in far too late, and started sniffing him out. She'd been in her lupus form so getting around was slightly more difficult, but not impossible. She followed the man's scent, that was until she couldn't get it after he bathed. She had smelled him coming in but where was he coming out? She had to pace a little bit, trying to find the scent, and soon learned that it had come back just further down the road. Her little nose caught the scent again and she went rushing, though when she found it to linger again, he was nowhere. She however, knew she just missed him. She was panicking wondering if he'd forgotten, how could he forget a hunt with her? Didn't she promise she'd be up? The scent led her back to the apartments where she was promptly deflated of her worry.

"I thought you forgot!"

She said from the door, her tail wagging a little, looking at him with a look she'd inherited from her mother, one of annoyance basically saying "You're in big trouble" Though she couldn't pull it off quite yet and it probably looked more silly than anything else. She was just glad she wasn't going to miss their hunt together.

Sat on the floor in the lobby, green eyes turned dark by the shade the building created, the young male fully expected to see his cousin come bounding down the stairs and most likely crash straight into him in her excitement. The minutes ticked by however and he wondered if it was possible that Eclipse would have forgotten about their hunt, or perhaps she overslept. He considered going up to get her but he knew that she would see it as him checking up on her no matter what he did. So he sat back and waited. Her voice from the opposite direction made him start and turn, seeing Eclipse in the doorway. Where on earth had she been? The look on her face was reminiscent to a face that Bris made occasionally and the young agouti was stabbed by how much he missed his Aunt. She had been so involved at one point, and now she was gone again. As if Conor had been the only thing keeping her together. She had a daughter that she had abandoned and she had her niece and nephews to care for. She shouldnt have left the way she did. Pushing it aside he processed Eclipse's words and allowed a grin to flash over his face.

"How could I forget you! I was just going on my morning run before we started... warming up to impress you with my superior hunting skills!"

He chuckled, shifting so that he stood upright once more. He concentrated, feeling the first tingle brush his spine before his body started to shift. Bones shortened and popped into different joints, muscles moved to areas where they needed to be and he shrunk down into his four legged position within a few moments. He shook his fur out, making sure that everything was good before he trotted forward. He quickly pressed his nose against Eclipse's forehead and with a grin slunk past her and out into the sun filled day. They had a lot to do before tonight. Not only did they have to hunt some meat, but they needed to collect berries and fruits to really make it a meal. The orchard would provide apples and Saul knew there to be lots of fruit-bearing bushes around here that would suffice.

"I though we could head out to the forest and see if we can catch some deer?"

He said, turning back to see if Eclipse was following. She was a good worker in Ichika he knew that and it pleased him that she was willing to help. She'd been the first to arrive at the barn fixing not too long ago and he had been grateful for her help then and now. He jumped forward and took off towards the forest, knowing his cousin would be fast on his heels.

Eclipse rolled her eyes when he answered, if swimming in the water was taking a run she was a fat old hen. She said nothing though, she wanted to get out and find something good for this feast. She needed to keep her mind on the task at hand or she was in danger of finding something else to do, like chasing one of the now rare butterflies that lived in the garden she'd created. She smiled at Saul when he nosed her forehead and moved past her. She trotted behind, more at a leisurely pace.

“I Think that would be perfect!”

She said, thinking of the docile deer that roamed, she had yet to catch one, on her own she was small enough to where she couldn't get a deer on her own, though with another's help it was sure to happen. She was more used to smaller prey. She was adaptable though, and this new hunt was something amazing to her, a possible initiation of becoming a true adult, though she had only a few more months before she would be one year old. She still felt as though she lived many lives just to get to where she was now, and in a way she had. She kept up easily with Saul as they moved towards the forest.

“It's too bad we can't get moose though.”

Moose was a rare delicacy, and hard to catch too, she learned that just from encountering one. It was not a good day for her, though she didn't get hurt. The moose just didn't think a pup should grow up to be able to possibly hunt him and had chased her a great distance before she found a hole big enough for her, and small enough to keep the moose out. That was the moment she felt like a rabbit, being chased by a wolf... though it was odd because prey had been chasing predator at the time.

The young male almost thought he saw Eclipse roll her eyes but dismissed it. He had been running- after his bath. A grin escaped his lips as they moved out of Cerne Rise and back into the sunshine. They only had another week or two of the good weather before autumn really kicked in and the winds and the rains lashed down on them. Eclipse agreed that some deer would be the perfect catch for their meal and Saul gave her a swift nod. He had no idea what kinds of hunting Eclipse was used to, but Saul was getting used to taking down deer with just two people. One for the hamstrings and one for the throat. They moved at a leisurely pace, Saul stretching out his body every now and again to hear the satisfying crack of his bones as they clicked back into place. It was good to be running despite his excursions of the morning. Eclipse's voice came once more and he glanced sideways at her.

"You ever encountered any moose around here?"

He asked, curious to know if she'd seen them. Saul had only ever had one of two encounters with the beasts- he figured they lived further north than where they were now. Cream paws hit the ground and he concentrated on where he was going. At their running pace it didnt take them long to pass through Dahlia Valley and then onwards towards the Forest. He had no idea what they would find in the forest, but he'd hunted with Arye in here and it wasnt half bad. They'd been successful and they hadnt even spoken a word to each other until after they'd killed the animal. It had been a very primal way of hunting that the luperci weren't used to, but there was certainly excitement in the method. They approached the forest and the young male slowed down. It would do them no good to go charging into the forest and scare everything away. They would have to continue at a slow and measured pace, stalking their prey until there was an opening for them to make their kill.

"We'll go round the outside and scout out our prey before, alright?"

He spoke quietly, aware that there were no deer near by but still keeping his voice levelled. He didnt want to assume to take the lead, but he was in front and therefore he stepped forward and took the lead. He kept low to the ground, stalking foward silently with his cousin behind him. They would so well today, he could just feel it.

Word Count » 353 :: OOC: sorry for the delay <3

Elclipse followed Saul, keeping her eyes peeled for anything, even if they weren’t going to hunt it now. Their main target was by far larger than a rabbit, but who was to say a little fun couldn’t be had afterward? She had learned anything caught was put to stores for the winter so that they could survive it. Winter was not a concept the girl could understand, as she had been in the brunt end of it, but the snowstorm had told her a lot. Mostly that it was brutal and unkind.

“Well not here HERE, but I have seen one when I was looking for daddy, It chased me into a hole like he was the wolf and i was the rabbit.”

She said, she couldn’t look at her cousin when she mentioned anything of her being outside of the pack. It wasn’t all bad but it hadn’t all been good either. She lived a life that no one thought of and she was still only a pup. She became quiet as they neared the wood, a natural silence for she knew that their dinner would be around somewhere. She didn’t mind Saul taking the lead. He was the elder and more experienced. She had not hunted anything large often. So she was still not quite cut out for taking the lead of a hunt. She was quick though, so chasing was another story. She doubted being the brute strength of running up to the deer to grab at its throat would be possible for her, though she would do everything Saul told her and with as good of skills as she had at hand. She just had to play her own cards right. She watched him, and sniffed at the air then at the ground. Many prey andimals have been in and out of the forest, so it was a challange to distinguish the right smell she wanted. Still being new at the hunting game, she’d been chasing nearly what scent she could, figuring out what it was and if she should avoid it or not.
