As we stand among giants

+7. I finally get an excuse to post in this territory XD. Set around early afternoon.

The anxiety pushed his form further, faster, into the heart of Cercatori d'Arte. He had been told by his friend that it would be somewhere among there, and it wasn't Bangle's usual route. The scents of pine, birch, and oak filled his nostrils, knowing for sure when he would reach the place with gigantic structures practically hanging in the sky. The coywolf was alone this day, with nothing to drag him down or hold him behind, and so all the craftsman did was keep striding forward, low-hanging branches and bushes whipping at his sides.

"Yer close, Bangle.." He muttered to himself, staring up at the forest which blanketed him. His moss colored drape that hung at his waist further disguised him as a mere shadow, a child of the forest. The trees began to cover the sky, providing a canopy of shade and dappled sunlight to fall across his fur. Pausing, his ears caught movement, before bolting towards it. Bangle pressed his head down and felt the forest lashing out at him, clutching, trying to hold him back from his destination, wanting him to get lost and turn back for home. But not today. Today he was driven to do something more - not just for his family, but for all Cercatori families to come.

And finally, he could feel the open air engulf his body, his bare chest panting for air, the belt at his waist partially askew in the run. When Bangle finally found his footing, tongue hanging out the right side of his muzzle, he looked up. In place of the engulfing forest, he found an expanse beyond anything he could measure, with trees stretching up into the sky. His head rose and rose, until he could no longer see the highest treetop, and felt his head tilt back vertically, until the coywolf could tilt no further. The base of each tree before him were as massive as any house in Thornbury, and could fit many bodies if one were hollowed out. Far off the ground were the structures, hanging like bridges and wrapping around trees, crossing one into another, and into another. It seemed to go farther in, into forever, and higher still. These were not trees, they were giants. "Woah!" He exclaimed into the cool air, his face beaming as he admired the place.

As he walked further in, he spotted a ladder set in among the oak. It looked old and withered, but it never stopped Bangle. It was practically an invitation to the sky, to look out into the world, and the former gypsy had awoken within him suddenly, placing a hand on the ladder. He could not resist the call. The coywolf climbed, until it was around the first wooden structure. It was high, but others went up higher. Under his feet, he wriggled his toes as he examined the worn wood jutting out from the tree trunk, but it seemed sturdy enough to hold his weight. He could be found with a large grin on his face, standing there as he looked all around him, slowly walking around the length of the platform.

The Guffawri male halted as he saw a house not far from where he stood, leaning forward just slightly to get a better view. It was new, that much he could tell, and it was also the only real house that was built among the looming platforms and bridges. An idea came to him, and instantly the craftsman knew it had to have been his place - a giant among other giants. Cupping his hands around his mouth, he barked out. "Shaw!" But the coywolf awaited no answer, and quickly he swept back down the ladder he climbed up from and raced in the grass towards the house.

Long shadows played against his multi-hued body as he carried himself at a quick pace towards the house. It loomed high above the craftsman as he stopped just under it. "Oi there! Shaw!" He called up again, certain it belonged to the wood worker. He knew no one else who could have done a better job suspended from a tall, thick tree. It was just the man he wanted to see, too, for the idea that formed inside his head for many moons. Since his talk with Orin up in his own tree, his determination drew him there, as he stood among the watching structures and called for the young giant, tail wagging happily behind him.

WC: 314 OOC: :3 we need to make a terrace map.... lol

Shawchert was still recovering but that had not kept him from his duties, it did however keep him from playing with his daughters. Too much rough housing and his wounds would open and he would have to start all over again, so he silently staye in his house the past few adys. The wound now starting to close, and he happy it was. He was in his home, whittling a flower for Juliet. He’d made a wolf with wings for Titania, she said she liked fairies but he knew nothing of what fairies looked like so that was the best he could come up with. He had heard they were soon to be shifting and he wished he was there for it, but under his circumstances he only walked when he patrolled and he was sure he would have his throat slit if Sky knew about that. He couldn’t help that though he didn’t feel safe if he didn’t know wolves like rurik were around or not. It came as a surprise to the man when he heard the coywolf calling his name. He hadn’t see Bangle since... well since the party the man made when he returned from his search. Slowly getting up the man opened the door and looked down. Sure enough there was the man grinning at him from below with his tongue hanging out. Shawchert smiled and waved

“Bangle i’ts nice to see you, why not come in? There’s a ladder just ove there, don’t worry even another snowstorm couldn’t tear this house from it’s roots.”

Shawchert said patting the railing of the small porch he’d made. It was a nice home. Not one of its kind as he’d built and reconstructed the ones that were further in. Orin had made her hom in one of them. It was much like Thornbury except above ground.

+3. For suuuure.

In no time at all, Bangle's giant of a friend emerged from his home, as the coywolf had expected. Eyes flickered over the man whom he hadn't seen since the pack's celebration, though their reunion had been brief then. He looked curiously at the wraps around the man's body, which could be seen even from a distance, but nodded vigorously at the invitation up the tree. The merchant grinned as he heard Shawchert mention the house's stability - something the coywolf wasn't at all worried about - and he walked around the tree and found the ladder in question. The climb seemed to take a while, but soon enough Bangle found himself on top of the wooden landing to Shawchert's house.

The view from up above was even more spectacular than from the earth, and Bangle felt at home once more. It was as if he were up in his tree, seeking solitude and reprieve from the real world that loomed below. From up here, Bangle saw the other, slightly smaller houses built on adjacent trees, connected by bridges with railings along them. In comparison to the rugged state of all else, the Guffawri male judged that Shaw had done a job well done with what he could work with, and at the given elevation.

Bangle wound his way around and towards the entrance that marked the male's home, easily fitting the short coywolf. As he stepped in, the male looked around with a smirk stretched across his face, impressed with what he saw before him, but also confirming the question that boiled in his mind. "Only a giant could live among its own kind. Thornbury too good fer ya now, eh?" He teased as he looked up at his friend, and was now able to see the bandages much clearer, with spots of blood staining them. "What 'appened there, friend?" Bangle wasted no time at all in pressing the question, but the craftsman could ignore it no longer.

Shaw smiled at his friend, the trader was always one to put Shawchert in a good mood. He laughed at Bangles remark and offered him inside. Most of what Shaw had in the house was built from natural stuff because... well he wasn’t about to bring human furnature up here at all. He offered him a seat on a wooden bench, it wasn’t much but there were cushions at hand for Bangle if he wanted them.

“No I think Thornbury was too good for me. It’s so damn hard to stand straight in those tiny human houses. Besides, as a vigilante, I need a god look out right?”

Shawchert grinned at the man. His smile faded a bit when Bangle asked about his bandages but he brushed it off in a few short words. He had his back to the man for the answer

“It was nothing, just trouble at the borders.”

He said taking up a pitcher full of water and pouring Bangle a fresh cup, he handed it to the man without question, he wouldn’t be offended if Bangle didn’t take it but it was a thirst quencher and an offer to a guest.

“So what brings you to brave the giant’s abode?”

Shawchert asked with a sly grin on his face.

WC: 672. Can we coin the term 'Shawdust'? Big Grin? -is lame-

Wooden shavings and sawdust were evident of Shaw's abode, and Bangle could only imagine the upkeep when the wood became old and weather worn. Still, his friend was adamant about his work, and Bangle trusted the sturdiness of the structure upon entering it. If it was strong enough to support the giant man's weight, then surely the coywolf, smaller by comparison, would do no harm. At the red male's gesture, the craftsman sat on a wooden bench propped against the wall, jewelry ringing along the walls. The coywolf gave a sure, swift nod as his friend uttered a rhetorical question, eyes glinting as Bangle looked outside briefly. "S'pose yeh got a good bird's eye view then, eh?" The smile was returned, until the taller man turned away from him.

Bangle turned his head back to his friend to get a good look at his bandaged body. No doubt something had happened, and it was no ordinary scrape either. Shaw was a warrior, he knew, but the coywolf would bet anything that Shawchert's wounds and possible scars were not a result of a spar. Ears flicked forward as he listened to his friend's reply, and his own eyes widened some. "Trouble?" He echoed, sounding like a confused whelp who did not understand the word. The multicolored male shook his head, and tried to sound consoling as Shawchert moved to pour something. He hadn't heard anything about any trouble at the borders, but Bangle took that to be a good thing. "Well, Cercatori's giant showed 'em a thing or two, eh?!" He moved to rise from the bench, to clap the man on the shoulder in a comforting gesture, but instead he took the proffered cup of water and sat back down.

At the question to his visit, the merchant decided to drop the troubling subject, and could not help but return his giant friend's grin with one of his own, and just as sly. He reclined on the bench as a hearty guffaw began to rumble in his chest, suddenly remembering a book that Skye had once told him about. Something about a huge beanstalk that went to the skies and a giant that lived somewhere up there. Bangle closely related himself to Jack, the poor fellow who, with curiosity, climbed the beanstalk and entered the giant's castle. His laugh grew louder as he slapped his knee with a free hand, drops of water sloshing over the rim of the cup in his other. "Don' worry yerself, I'm not 'ere to steal'a magical hen from yeh, Shaw," he commented, his laughter subsiding. The coywolf wasn't sure if his friend knew of the story, but it did not matter.

Bangle quickly lifted the cup to his wide mouth and drank the water down, the cool liquid sliding down his throat. He smacked his lips loudly with satisfaction, and set the cup to the side. His toothy smile became a smirk, reclining on the bench as bright eyes fell on his friend. "I've got some work fer yeh.. for us, even," he began, folding his arms across his light hued chest. "Been talkin' t' Orin, n' we thought it migh' be a good idea fer the lil' ones t'have a tree fort'a their own, right 'ere in this place." He paused only long enough for Shawchert to register the request, before the crafty craftsman continued. "It'd be easy t' watch 'em, y'know? N' not only fer yer pups n' mine.. but fer any of Cercatori's rascals! So what d'ya say, hrm?"

There was excitement in his voice, as the coywolf shifted to the edge of the wooden bench. All of a sudden, the smirk melted off of his face as Bangle planted his feet on the ground and leaned forward, suddenly fixing Shaw a stern look. "But seriously, my giant friend, yeh wouldn' hide golden eggs from yer friend Bangle, now would yeh?" His thoughts lingered back on the story, unable to hide an amusing grin any longer, as it stretched his face once more.

Word Count → 355 :: OOC: Hahaha golden egg made me laugh Big Grin

Shawchert smiled and nodded at Bangle's comment. He had that plus some to his own thoughts. He moved to grab a cup and poured himself his own glass of water once Bangle took his own..

“It's a great look out, I can see Thornbury from here, so we aren' too far out of te way, “

He said smiling a little proudly over his work. He saw the tiny ferret, who'd been sleeping down at the foot of the couch, where her spot normally was, slink over to Bangle, she was still very young, so she couldn't move as fast as a normal ferret, but she was curious by the coywolf and was starting to smell him. Shawchert chuckled a little as he took a sip of water.

“Yes a man had come hoping to desecrate the border tree. I most assuredly put him in his place.”

Shawchert said, Bangle at least deserved that much information. After all he was the mate of the leader. He wasn't sure if she knew the whole incident was quick and he was weak, he'd expected Sky to have said something, but who knew with her sudden attitude changes. He lifted an eyebrow as Bangle mentioned stealing a golden egg. This must have been some kind of joke, but something more personal to the decorated male because Shawchert didn't know what he was talking about. At the mention of work however he perked up at full attention. He listened to Bangle's proposition.

“I think that sounds like a great plan, the kids do need their own place, well to be children! I think it's a wonderful project to start on.”

Shawchert went to take a nother drink only to start choking it out when Bangle seriously asked about him having a golden egg. He had to cough a good few times to clear his throat.

“A golden egg? Isn't that something in fairy tales or something, Mother penguin or whatever it is? I don't think one is possible, therefore I would never hide one on you.”

WC:333 - I forgot he had a ferret now XD.

Bangle found himself looking out of the entrance hole, wondering if it was true what Orin said about being able to see the sea. Perhaps, one day, he and Skye would live among these giants too, as close to the big blue as they could be, and wake up to the sounds of it crashing upon the sand each morning. His eyes relaxed at the thought, until he felt the tickle of whiskers near his feet. It made him jump a little, both physically and right out of his thoughts, and look down. "Wha-? Shaw, since when d'you have a ferret?" He motioned at it, tilting his head as the creature below did the same. He personally could not see them as pets, but Shaw had a kind heart despite his monstrous size. Bangle leaned forward to offer his hand for the creature to sniff, but it backed away shyly, and the craftsman withdrew it.

Ears perked above his head as high as they could, when Shaw accepted the offer. Slowly, a grin began to stretch his face in a cat-like fashion and with both free hands he slapped his thighs loudly. "Perfect! Knew ya wouldn' let me down!" He remarked, moving to stand up at the same time. The craftsman was about to say something else until Shaw began to cough, and took a step towards him instead. When it had stopped, however, and commented on the golden egg, he guffawed. "Aye friend, but don' go tellin' ev'ryone else that.." Bangle said thoughtfully as he crossed his arms, wondering if the town's chickens had laid any eggs yet, and where he could find some paint or dye that would pass for gold. Beads clinked as he shook his head, to give that idea more thought later. "So, when can we get stared, friend? I can't wait t'tell Skye." The coywolf could only imagine the look on her face, which he believed would be the same motherly reaction he had gotten from Orin.

200 OOC: you can have him head out, i'll make it so Shaw follows :3

When Bangle jumped so did the ferret and she moved back, only when he move his hand to her did she shy away close to Shaw, who then picked her up.

“Her family was dead, she's not really a pet, merely... I'm her caregiver right now until she can fend for herself.”

He said shrugging a little as she scuttled up his arm and sat on his shoulder comfortably. He smiled when he agreed that the golden eggs were not real and couldn't help but laugh a little at the comment his friend made. The man could easily get Shaw out of a bad mood, though he had not been in one, but the thought did occur to him.

“I promise not to say anything, and if you want we can start now I mean at least to get the perfect location, then I can start making a ramp”

He said, location was the most important to a project especially when it came to building a house. He indicated the door and was sure Bangle wouldn't mind walking around the terrace, he was sure the man wanted to see it for its glory, to walk across the now net ridden bridges, mostly to keep the girls from roughhousing too much and falling.

WC:232 - Short, bleh. As per our AIM discussion, we can wrap it up soon or have them start gathering materials. Your call!

The coywolf was happy to hear laughter coming from the other male, glad to see him still in tact since his return. He was Bangle's giant of a friend, and the craftsman would have come to no one other than he for a project just as big. As the coywolf stood, he was rather surprised as his friend's eagerness, and autumn eyes fell on his wounds once more. "I dunno, friend. Yeh don' look like yer fully able to start hammerin' away," he spoke as his hand motioned towards the results of his scuffle.

Still, a crooked grin remained plastered upon his face, and he strode towards the door and back out into the sunlight. Hands upon his hips, his bangles slid downwards as the male surveyed the scene from their vantage point. "Still, I think a giant like yerself could spot a good tree'er two, n' we can start gatherin' whatever we need, eh?" He turned an ear back towards Shawchert, awaiting a response, while he gazed back in the direction of Thornbury. Bangle worried for his friend, despite his massive size, and raised a hand to stroke his chin in thought. "Hmm.." His throat hummed aloud, pausing for dramatic emphasis. "What d'ya say if we spread this lil' secret along, hmm? Find some others that could 'elp out, n' find someone ter keep the lil' rascals occupied in the meantime."

WC: 326 OOC:yeah think a few more posts will do it Smile

Shawchert waved off Bangle's comment about not being able to hammer due to his injuries. He was certain he could work while injured, though he didn't think Sky would approve, nor even Orin. He waved his hand, sure that if he couldn't do it he'd stop at a moments notice.

“This is nothing, stitches are there for a reason right? And it barely hurts.”

The man said, giving bangle a smile to let the man know he really was ok, he'd only taken a sword to the side, to Shaw that was no big deal. The big deal was starting the project. Shawchert followed the man out into the sunshine and looked over the maze of bridges.

“As much as I want it in with everything, I think it would be best on the outskirts of the terrace, but still visible for anyone to see.”

Shawchert said walking across the bridge that was to his house and moving towards the other side of the Terrace, which was a bit more empty than the area Shaw had cleaned up. Shawchert stopped and turned to Bangle, knowing full well the man wanted to divert Shaw's wish to get started, by asking to spread the word. Shawchert looked out over the way Bangle did and couldn't help a small smile. It would be wrong for the man to do such a great project a lone, especially if someone wanted in on it. Turning back to Bangle he nodded.

“Yes that would be a good idea, I'll just work on some furnanture in the meantime...and don't you tell me I can't cause of thisstupid cut on my side, I've had far worse. I need to do something.”

The man said warningly to his friend, knowing full well he might protest.

WC:262 - I think this is a good wrap-up post for me? Lemme know if you'd rather have it last a bit longer Big Grin

A few nods of agreement became the Guffawri male's response towards the other. The closer it was to home, the better, it seemed. Curiosity led Bangle's mind to wander, imagining where the heart of the land of giant's remained, and if the trees loomed taller and more foreboding there, as still and silent as a sleeping creature. The coywolf would make it a point to explore the land of giants at a later time, but for their pups and those to come, the outskirts of the enduring Terrace was the best choice.

Bangle offered a toothy grin when the giant man warned him from across the bridge, brushing off his wound as if it were a scratch. Perhaps it may have been, though the former gypsy could nearly hear Sky and Orin whispering through the tall trees, protesting against Shaw. The coywolf would do no such thing, in this case, giving only a chortle into the open air. He knew too well how the pair of woman would react, and so the craftsman flicked his tail defiantly against the voice in the trees.

Turning, he moved to cross the bridge after Shawchert, his smile remaining. When he found himself on steady ground again, the multicolored male put his hands on his hips. "Now, if yer kids are anythin' like meh own, yeh'd know that they'd destroy furniture." A knowing glint flashed in his autumn hued eyes, watching his friend's face. Bangle nodded in response to his friend's suggestion, ready to follow the giant up and down the beanstalks. "Lead th' way, friend!"

WC: 172 OOC: If you want we can end it :3 /dance

Shawchert navigated his way about until he found a ramp he could go down. As much as he wanted to just use a ladder he knew both Orin and Sky would have baby cougars if they knew he was over working his side, he would just do as little arm lift as possiple. He chuckled as Bangle spoke of children and furnature.

“I'm sure my furniture will stand the test of time with the children... now cushions and what not.... those would be hard set on keeping in one piece.”

The man said with a chuckle as he descended down the ramp that wove itself around a thick, sturdy tree. Soon Shawchert was quietly seeking a spot to where they could find a place and soon came to the best possible spot Shaw coul think of. Waving his arm around a little he gave a look to his friend in hopes the man would acknowledge. At least there would be a start on where this house for children would be.
