Yay sister thread ^^ 300+

The tension in the air was stifling, and the Marino's nerves were almost to the breaking point. Half the time anymore she felt herself on the verge of tears. She could not believe that this was happening to her home. How had war come so abruptly to their doorstep? Constantly her mind worried about what would come next, and dwelt on thoughts of what was happening to Anu. It was so horrible that the Praetor had been taken captive and was doubly hard on Cambria. Not only had the kind older wolfess helped her through some of the most difficult times in her life, but she was the mother to the woman she loved. Mati had been so upset ever since the night of the raid and it had only become worse when the parley party had returned without the blue-eyed femme. Everyone wanted Anu back, but none of them knew what to do. The horrible new leader of the tribe had put a knife to her throat. Her mother had had no choice but to retreat.

Cambria had left the suffocating confines of the mansion and made the short trip to Tallermein's Cottage to visit the llamas that belonged to she and Mati. Carino and Francis were grazing placidly when the cocoa wolf found them and she settled herself on the ground between them in a huddle, knees pulled up against her chest. One hand stroked absentmindedly at Francis' soft wooly hair as she stared out to the west. Anu was not the only one she was worried about. Dawali, the old chief of the tribe, had taught her how to be a healer. She owed so much to him and he was such a kind man...what had happened to him? Had this new leader killed him to take his place? The thought brought that familiar pressure to the back of her eyes and she hid her face away to try and stop the salty tears before they started.

Word Count:

Parker was trying to find her sister, else she probably wouldn't have been at Tallermein’s Cottage. There was no real reason for her to be there except that she had caught Cambria's scent and decided to track her older sibling down. They hadn't spent significant time together recently, which was a shame. It didn't mean that the Sadira girl was unaware of the goings-on in her sister's life, though; at least the major ones. She was sure that her sibling was hurting after Anu's capture, as they all were. It probably hit Cambria harder than it had Parker, though, because Parker didn't know Anu that well. So while it was sad, it was a distant sadness. An anger and sadness that someone had been taken, but not a specific sadness that someone she knew well had been.

As she saw her sister, Parker's heart ached. It was difficult to see one she loved so clearly distraught. Cambria was hiding her face, though she couldn't hide her sorrows. The younger daughter of Savina watched her elder sibling for a moment, her heart beating heavily in her chest. Then she quickened her pace, her pawsteps louder than usual because she wanted to make sure her sister heard her walking. As she drew near, Parker's arms opened for an embrace. Though she couldn't take back what AniWaya had done, she could at least try to comfort her elder sibling in these trying times. Maybe soon they would go back there to parley peace. This time, Parker would insist on going and she fiercely hoped that they would be successful.

Sorry for the wait! Stupid being sick XP

Cambria couldn't understand how things had come to this, and that usual feeling of helplessness had engulfed her. It had taken a long time for the Marino to feel that she was worth something to her pack, but now that feeling had slipped away again. Sure, she had helped to patch members up after the raid had taken them all unawares, but that was all she could do. Cambria wasn't a fighter, she was too much a coward for that. Even if she did have courage like her mother though, what good could she possibly do? She was small and weak, surely more of a dead weight than anything else in times like these. If only she were different. If only she were stronger or braver, maybe things wouldn't be so bad. She sniffled and Carino nosed the top of her head in a concerned fashion.

Footsteps came to her folded ears and she lifted her head just enough so that she could see who was coming towards her. When her watery orbs beheld her quiet little sister, Cambria was both glad and ashamed. She hadn't spent as much time with Parker as she would have liked, so she was happy to see her well, especially since she had nearly been captured the night of the raid. However, she wasn't happy about her little sister seeing her so vulnerable. She was the elder sibling, so she should be stronger right? Like Gotham or Amata. Surely they weren't sitting around moping and crying. Still, when Parker's arms wrapped around her Cambi leaned into the embrace and put her own chocolate limbs around her light sister. A soft sob issued from her, but it felt good to be hugged like this. Hopefully Parker didn't think her too pathetic.
