Teo was off doing something in the caves, and Alaki had vanished earlier in the morning. Little Camilla was still asleep and the pets had all scampered, and flown, off to do their own thing. Tawny did not want to stay in the room all by herself with nothing to do. Perhaps if she wandered a bit, she could find something, like some chores, that she could help with. What was the point in staying with this pack, eating their food and taking up their space, if she wasn’t doing anything to help? She was afraid that Angel would see this after a while; she really needed to make herself useful before it happened.

Getting up from her spot on the men’s bed, where she’d been napping while they were gone, she stretched and went to the door. The only times she’d ever gone out were when she was with Teo or knew exactly where she was going. This time was different; the girl had no idea what she was going to do once she got out there. Slipping past the door to the private rooms, she began her wandering through the long stone halls that connected the caves. This place was so very interesting to her; the beehive-like underground ‘combs’ were a lot different than Ichika’s home in the open forests and mountains.

Tawny walked for a while with her nose up, trying to find the smells of anyone she knew that could possibly help her in her search. The bandages that Matteo had wrapped around her wounds were all taken off, except for the ones tied tightly around the nasty looking bite on her shoulder and the tears on her stomach. They were taking the longest to heal and when she moved the wrong way, they sometimes split and started bleeding again. It was very nerve wracking, wondering if the wounds would ever heal… Lost in her thoughts, the girl wasn’t really paying attention to where she was going anymore, but was simply walking the halls now.

The Acidic male was, inexplicably, organizing his things. His sister had whined in that passive-aggressive way of hers about the clutter of his belongings in their family den and he finally gave in to cleaning up a little to keep her quiet. The boy wasn’t exactly a hoarder, so he had no idea why Agony was so bothered by it. During his little organizational spree, he found something he had nearly forgotten about—a stack of old books he’d stolen from the pack’s library as a pup. Jackson couldn’t read, so they were utterly useless to him, but he had stubbornly refused to return them. But the only one who had seen him taking them was gone now (for which he was very glad), so he figured he may as well give in and take them back. Afterwards he could stop by the storage room to make some preparations for checking on the torches that lined the frequently used hallways. Finally finished putting his things into neat piles in his part of the den, the boy picked up the stack of old books and made his way out to the winding halls.

Jackson hurried his way through the caves, taking a familiar path that would lead him to both the library and the storage room. On his way he spotted someone he didn’t know, and a scarred and bandaged someone at that. The boy slowed his pace as he approached, growing curious of the wounded stranger. As he approached, he could pick out a few recognizable scents mingling with her own, namely Camilla and that grump of an older brother she had. But there was a faint, unfamiliar scent underlying all the Anatheman ones. Another pack? Jackson’s brow furrowed in confusion. Finding someone from another pack so deep in the caves wasn’t something he’d expected to see. “Uh… hey,” he said, falling into step beside her.

Walking around aimlessly was becoming quite boring, but Tawny had no idea where she should go. The day before she’d been to the kitchen with Matteo, but couldn’t remember the directions. Surely after a while, if she was headed in the right direction, she would be able to smell it? So far the only scents meeting her nose where those of other wolves and sometimes a random animal that she decided were pets, like the annoying raccoon and crows that Teo and Alaki kept. Every now and then she’d hear someone coming and would duck to the side of the hall, getting out of their way and hoping that they didn’t react badly to her being there. A few times she’d been questioned, but only when the men were with her. If someone found her and demanded that she leave, while she was alone, there was pretty much nothing she could to except get the hell out of dodge.

The smell of something musty and old hit her nose before she heard the male getting closer or saying hi. She jumped a bit and whipped her head around to look at him, blue eyes wide and nervous. He was a new face, not someone she’d seen in the caves yet…but of course she hadn’t been there for very long. Smiling timidly, Tawny dipped her head in greeting, making sure to keep her legs moving, not wanting to stop her exploration. H-hi…I’m Tawny. Her eyes scanned over his body again, taking in his odd coloration. He reminded her of Jace from Ichika, the woman was a smattering of colors, like a sunset on a good night. The young girl tilted her head to the side as they walked closely, noticing that his eyes were blue as well. Where you goin’? It wouldn’t take long for the male to realize how simple minded she was, not that she was stupid, just uncomplicated.

Jackson had been doing better with getting out and socializing with his pack mates lately. Increased time spent inside the winding caves would do that, he supposed. His tasks required a large amount of wandering through the usually dark and stuffy caves when he wasn’t savoring the open world of the forests when gathering supplies. Even then, the boy was still unfamiliar with a large portion of Anathema’s resident canines. For all he knew, this girl here could have been a recent addition to their ranks. It would have explained the predominant mix of Anatheman scents mingling with her own, and the relative faintness of the mark of a foreign pack. Hell, Jackson supposed it didn’t make any difference to him, but there was that itch of curiosity that wouldn’t let the thoughts be.

The stranger seemed a bit jumpy as he approached her, head whipping around with the quickness of surprise and eyes wide and alert. The nervous expression she carried stirred up a strange feeling of pity in the Acidic male. He summoned a rather awkward smile to his features in response, trying to make up for surprising her. She stuttered an introduction, calling herself Tawny. The boy nodded in a greeting of his own before introducing himself in turn. “I’m Jackson. Good to meet ya, Tawny.” Cerulean gaze took in her features, lingering for a minute on her scars before she spoke up again. He shifted the stack of books in his arms slightly to a more comfortable position and motioned down the hall with a nod of his head. “Just headin’ down over to the library to put away these books, then over to the storage room.” He looked back down toward her, meeting her own deep blue gaze. “…How about you, huh? Got somewhere you’re goin’?” Maybe this way he could figure out just what she was doing down here.

She could not stop looking at his coloring. The black and white combination brought out some hazy drug induced memories of someone...Axelle! The woman who had found her pumped with drugs in the middle of Dahlian teritory. Tawny had only known the two toned woman for a few minutes, but she'd made sure that the sick girl was safe with a pack member before she got herself killed. Her mind wandered as she thought about the other female, where did she life? Was she doing well?

Shaking her head, Tawny turned back to the male and smiled, placing her paws down on the slightly uneven stone ground carefully. She didn't want to fall and reinjure herself, the scabs were having a hard enough time closing without jostling. When he started talking again her head tilted to the side in confusion. What was a library...? She sped up a bit and turned slightly so she could look up at the things in his arms. It looked to be a stack of books. The girl didn't know how to read or anything like that, but she knew what the books were for after seeing some of the Ichikans use them.

"W-what is a library?" Her dark blue eyes flicked from the books in his arms and up to his face, obviously very curious about his destination. "Uh...I don't know...J-just wandering." She really had no idea where to go and was pretty much lost in the tunnels, not having been there long enough to know her way around.

His new acquaintance seemed a bit confused at what he’d said, a moment later speaking up in her stuttering manner to clarify that it was the library that she was confused about. He glanced down at the books he held and considered it for a moment. The library and books just sort of went hand in hand for the young man. “A library is like… a big room to keep books in,” he explained, shrugging one shoulder slightly. That seemed like the best way to explain what it was. “I dunno why it’s called a library, though, and not just like ‘book room’ or something,” he continued with an awkward laugh. It was probably a stupid thing to call it, something straightforward like that. Library just seemed like such a weird word, though. Made it sound fancy, he guessed.

He nodded when she said he was just wandering, cerulean gaze turning to her face. Oh, he was familiar with that one. The boy had spent way more time than he liked to admit just wandering the halls here when he was younger. “Hmm. Hope ya aren’t getting lost too bad—Oh, hey.” He cut himself off, nodding toward an arching doorway in the stone wall just ahead of them. “There’s the library. I can show ya.” The boy continued on into the room, pausing just inside the entryway. A torch flickered forlornly on the wall to his left, providing dim but sufficient light through the room. There was a small table at its center and stacks of books scattered throughout, some lined up on makeshift shelves along one of the walls. “Ta-da.” The boy shifted his stack of books to one arm and then waved to the room at large with his newly freed hand and grinned down at Tawny.
