The weather was gloomy but dry, the sky was covered entirely by a blanket of thick grey clouds, but so far there had been no threat of rain, though there might be some chance of rain later in the day. THe sun was entirely hidden from view, but could it be seen it would be at its pinnacle, it's highest point as it was around noon. The sky was almost completely devoid of birds, as were the gnarled branches of the trees, the small feathered creatures all seeming to have taken flight for their winter time homes, although many of the hardier birds still remained there was no evidence of them around the lands today. Here and there the ground was alive with life though, small animals dashing around attempting to store what they could before the harsh winter weather took its icy grip upon the pack lands once more. And the Canadian winters were often hard ones, so the animals were exceptionally busy, scurrying here and there, attempting to gather as much food as they could; they had to to ensure their survival through to spring. Leaves now littered the ground, many of them retaining the bright reds and golds that they had faded to as Autumn had rolled around, it was a sure sign that soon enough winter would be upon the lands once more. The manor stood tall and proud in the centre of the lands, the old wood creaking slightly, a window had been left slightly ajar and was thudding against it's ledge as the winds that blew through the lands lifted and and dropped it once again; the wind was not a gale, but it was indeed far stronger than it had been in the summer months. A sable figure sat on the porch of the old house, head in her hands, feet resting on a step, kicking against it slightly every now and again in what was apparent top be frustration. In truth Rain was furious, her mother had been injured, badly injured and she had not been around to do anything! She had not been there to protect her! The ebony pelted Plebian felt that it was her duty to protect her mother and younger sister from the evils of the world, she was the strongest most likely and the best trained in hand to hand combat, she could not bear the idea that she had not been there to look after her mother when she had been attacked.

Of course the idea that the sable mother had been protecting herself for a long time before Rain had arrived had not entered the younger girl's mind, it was hard to think of her mother as a young wolf after all, she had never really thought of Soran being able to defend herself, when in truth the ebony Aedile had been rather a hellion in her youth. The sable female did not know of her mother's killings in the past, she had been attacked twice and twice she had managed to end the life of her attacker, by accident of course, but in her mind her mother was a gentle soul who needed lookign after. Her sister also needed protecting, this was closer to the truth of course, the young sable girl had been hiding in their room ever since the raid, flinching at every sound, even the creaking of the old wood in the house. So today Rain had left her indoors, the girl had been timid and shy before the raid, now she was far worse, Rain could not bother with the argument today, she felt too much turmoil as it was, so she had come out here to sit alone and think. She should have been there, she was here to look after her mother and she had just wandered out of the lands and gotten into a fight defending Robin, she had been stabbed, the younger girl felt that it was all her fault. She raised her hands and raked her claws through her mane as she thought, her face anguished at the idea of her mother being in pain, the feathers and beads that the small plaits at the front of her hair were adorned with fluttered lightly in the wind; the rest of the mane was secured in a long braid down the young ebony wolf's spine. With a snarl of fury she leapt to her feet, crossing away from the lands quickly, she would kill the grey wolf who had injured her mother, how dare he harm her! The tall girl moved towards the nearest tree and began taking swings at it, her well trained arms moving swiftly as she boxed at the tree, the silver eyed girl had always had something of a temper and she found that practicing fighting was a good way to calm her temper when her sister was not around to talk her down from her fits of rage. She would practice and be strong, yes, and then the time would come for her to meet the Aniwayans on the battlefield and then they would rue the day that they had allowed one of their number to stab her mother.

Adele had slept well the night before, considering it was her first time sleeping in an actual bed. It was a fun experience for the whimsical girl, leaping onto the bed in her lupus form ─she rarely slept in optime, from force of habit─ and digging and molding the sheets and covers until they were for her taste. The pillow was discarded from the bed, and was made into Cinnamon’s own little sleeping place, which he very much enjoyed. The room was settled in the Manor, on the first floor, and when she first saw it, she laid claim to the small abode, thinking that it was the fates’ decision to lead her to it. She liked small space, reminding her of the leather tent she slept under with her father during her nomad days.

The bed was so comfortable; it was not until the day was well developed until the hybrid awoken. While the rat was still knocked out, curled into a brown ball of fluff, she shifted back into optime, though did not slip on the blue dress she usually adorned. Now it was shown that, instead of missing her tail completely, it was a short stub, barely able to make a wag, the tip of it dark in color. She never really knew how she lost most of her tail, or if she was born like this, but she never asked her father or anyone else. She just assumed it to be who she is, and even if she asked where her tail went, she probably wouldn’t ever be able to find it. Besides, she liked the shorten appendage for some vague reason, and could not explain why but, like its origin, did not questioned it.

Adele glanced around the tiny room; it was barely big enough to hold a bed and a small desk, with very little walking room. On the desk laid tattered parchments, all of which were scribbled on with circles that formed familiar shapes of Luperci, though they seemed to be in the sketching stages. She reminded herself to return to the drawings later, since they were of the wolves she considered friends; which, so far, were not many, since she was fairly new. This did not put a dimmer on the whimsical girl, though, and quietly exited the room. The hallways were silent as she walked through the Manor, guessing that some may have been out or still asleep like she had moments before.

She managed to find the front door, getting “lost” in the unmistakable beauty of the house. Cocoa ears caught the sounds of soft thuds and huffing breaths, and Adele turned her gaze towards the black figure that was not very far away. The scent of her was memorable; it was the same smell she detected near her room, and guessed it was one of the canines whom her area was situated. But, the girl did not seem happy, for she was smacking the tree as if trying to beat the leaves off of it. “Did the tree drop an acorn on you?” Adele called out to the enraged wolf, her quiet voice probing for an answer. “I’m sure it didn’t mean to, if it did.” She half walked, half swayed over to the sable canine, staring up at the tree instead of her.

“You know, the tree’s armor will hurt your hands,” she said softly, now glancing at the female’s fists to see if the bark somehow scraped them.
