I'll keep my eyes fixed on the sun [dnd]

+3. For Jace.

She was untamed, like rushing water driven to dance by the changing of the winds. It was this sensation of the wild wind that stirred her in the early morning, before the sun gave back its full color to the earth. Her silver form had quietly risen among the grey blue of the world, hearing the call of her home, longing for the Mother's embrace once more. Nehalennia knew what happened to Her creatures if they stood against their calling, and though the journey would be long, the silver hybrid would not stop until she answered. The dark messenger flew overhead, calling into the early morning.

The travel had been slow, not by the hindrance of age so much as her lack of vision. But what the woman did have was wisdom, and a patience as vast as the sea. There was a reason Nehalennia was so drawn to the shores, and being among a new family that lived in the earth's splendor - utilizing gifts of both land and sea - she was drawn like a reed bending willfully in the wind. Sea spray tickled her skin as the aged woman neared, feeling the earth practically melt underneath her toes when her form pressed into golden sand, cloak sweeping over her footprints as the wise one glided upon the surface.

She was home, but not in the sense in the company of wolves and the beliefs that held them together. Neha was born upon the rocking sea, and indeed named for a goddess of which her clan believed in, and so felt a deep connection with the vast expanse of the world. As the water lapped hungrily at her feet, the salt water soaked into the edges of her coat, already trailing leaves and specks of sand. The aged woman made no move to remove herself from the water's edge, allowing her cloak to smell of dirt, dust, grime, and sea - of everything Nehalennia knew. "I welcome your embrace, dear Mother." Crooked teeth glinted under her grizzled lips, inhaling as each moment of her past began to swim upwards into remembrance and formed into a single drop, stinging the corners of her swirling orbs.

5+

She was lonesome today, hungry for the company of other females, to talk and natter and do all things women did together. She had no particular wanting to be near her mate as much as she loved him sometimes she just needed to spend time away from him to flourish in the uniqueness that was entirely her, pursue activities that were hers alone to enjoy. This had her waddling with her heavy pup laden form amongst the trees and the grass, savoring their sweet smell before winter took away their leaves and covered them with frost and snow. Summer in the arctic was a brief affair but here it was longer, stretching over several months rather than one or two.
Mercifully her gods had deemed to spare her from the usual uncomfortable conditions of pregnancy, the nausea and vomiting and the mixing together strange cocktails of food. Her back ached only the ordinary amount and her ankles had only swelled a small amount which was a blessing considering the weight she carried. With her she had a long, straight stick equal to herself in height found from a tall aged oak that she was using to keep her balance and to lean on for rest when her energy dipped low. Her mindless wanderings brought her close to the ocean's swell and the saltiness in the air thickened.

The forest gave way to sandy hills covered in a corn colored reed grass that waved gently in the breeze. Following the path that wound around and about the dunes that rose up from the ground, some of them came up to her elbow in weight. Her nose twitched as she caught the scent of another mixed in with the tang of water, sand and sea. Curiosity tugged at her and despite the fear of the ocean that poured from her very being the grey muddled hybrid came closer and meandered out from the cover of the sand hills to be greeted with the sight of the Kashyapa.
Spiritual awareness prickled at her skin and her fur ruffled up involuntarily. In her birth pack Jace had hoped to eventually reach the level of world awareness that the silver Elder had done. But it would never be now, it was not for her to be the seer of Ichika no Ho-en instead she had become the leader of the animals, and the plants. Her role now was to provide new life and not gaze into the depths of time and space, such adventures were better left to those who would navigate that Other world with perfection that was mastered.

After several minutes of inactivity her feet began to move her forwards towards the ocean, her floppy ears pulled back as she got closer and she resisted the urge to cringe as the water touched her feet, she walked until she was stood besides the aged woman taking note of the tear drops gathered in the corners of her milky eyes. She took a deep breath trying not to listen to the voice in her head that demanded she remove herself from the water that instant, and she pulled courage from Nehalennia's calmness and the stillness of her guardian, they would not be so silent and peaceful were there something to fear,

"Azzak Tana kolnden fursooth." The words would most likely be not understood and Jace wasn't about to explain them "Red sky in the morning, devil's warning. My mother often said that, an old dam's tale that she liked to quote."
