Distractions along the way

Eclipse was disturbed, by the news of the... was she crazy? The girl didn't know, but she wanted to find out what was going on because apparently one of the packs that had taken her in was in the midst of a a war. She promised herself she wouldn't get into it to help and if she did it was not as a member of Ichika but as a loner. She wouldn't just up and leave her pack though, she'd make all the tell tale signs of her own pack leave, though it was hard as she was well established. That mattered little now as she found herself finally out of the mountains. They were not so hard to cross but it took her too long just to do so... in her own opinion. She now found herself at the foothills, most called it something, but well she couldn't even pronounce the word in her head. She just liked calling them the mountain foothills, it was by far much more simple than whatever name it was given.

Eclipse was quiet as she moved forward, though she got distracted by a patch of basil growing, it was full grown and ready to pick. She smiled as she knelt down by the plant, the bit leaves were hard to miss and the smell that radiated off of it gave a sweet, almost minty scent. This was one of her favorite plants by far, and she knew that it was great with soups and to flavor some cooked.... or even raw meat. She shouldered off her bag she had been carrying with her and started picking the leaves off, knowing this plant would die come winter anyway so it wasn't as though she should be careful. Thinking about it the young girl thought she could take the roots too, who knew what uses they could be used for. She was after all the gardener of Ichika, and she was sure a healer could probably use the roots, so she started digging around the plant, humming a tune that Jace told her to practice, to get her voice in tune. Something she was learning to do so that if her mom did come back she could have a nice voice for her to hear.

It wasn’t wise for the formful Lykoi to wander much off these days, when it was visible to all that she was soon to give birth to young ones. When the demon child had inhabited her young womb, he had been little but a humble swelling of her attractive figure. No siblings had accompanied him, but this time she would become mother to more than one child. Halo’s curiosity was much stronger than her worry. Of course she pondered how she was going to get through this when she had failed so miserably in the past, but she knew more now than she had done back then. At least she knew what was coming now, unlike back then. She knew the identity of the father, and knew that few children could be born with better genes.

But when her usual morning rituals were cast aside for the safety for her young, she had begun to walk. Walking away the day was an effective method for keeping in shape, and she could avoid those she did not wish to interact with. Questions were bound to come, but she preferred to avoid them as best she could. She would be a lone mother for the second time, but it wouldn’t be an issue this time. Halo wanted these children, and it thrilled her to know that these unborn souls inside her already were loved. It did happen that the woman thought of her firstborn son, but it brought nothing good. She couldn’t make amends for failing him, and he was to be killed at sight for his sins. However, Halo did hope Itachi was happy and well, wherever he was. It wasn’t something she would ever admit to anyone else, but she did.

The girl was both wolf and enemy, but her scent was disturbing alone, without her being able to decipher what was wrong. The sword accompanied the russet lady, though she did not yet think to reach for it. A cream gloved hand moved to rest against the wealthy bulge of her belly, and twitched unnoticeably as one of her children responded to the touch with a gentle bump from within.

Halo could choose to spit and curse, but didn’t. Although she was moving towards the end of her pregnancy, she still possessed the superior skills of a warrior and a hunter, and her steps had been silent as she closed in on the oblivious girl. The harmonic sound from the other was perhaps pleasant to listen to, but it made it easy for predators to close in with much more ease, without catching the girl’s attention. Dark nostrils flared as she detected the scent of the pack of close proximity led by her uncle. ”You could be dead, now,” the Infernian shared, peering down with scarlet hues. If she had been in a fouler mood, the girl could so quickly have lost her life. It wasn’t wise to let down one’s guards in no man’s lands.

Eclipse was absorbed in her work, and she had never really encountered anything that would pose as a threat to her in her life, so she didn't think to be cautious out in the middle of nowhere. That was until just now when she heard the icy voice in her ear. Her heart froze for a second before pounding hard against her chest as she jumped away from the sound of the woman's voice. She swallowed hard, knowing she had a reason to fear this woman, but not knowing why. Looking up with her blue/purple eyes she saw the woman was with pups, near her time of birth it seemed, she now knew what a woman smelled like pregnant and looked like so she wasn't curious as to how nor why she was like that.

“I – I.... I'm sorry is this your land? I can leave, I didn't smell any markers, I would have stayed away if I did.”

The girl stammered, hoping that she really wouldn't lose her life. As round as the woman seemed she looked capable of quite a bit. She wanted to make sure this woman knew that she wasn't here for harm or discourteous intentions. That was when she caught a slightly familiar scent from the woman, though couldn't pin it on anyone in particular, it was buried deep in her own natural scent, like a family scent. She was still new to who was who, and how to manage through the different scents, but it was as if she knew a family member of the woman. She would just have to either figure it out eventually or not at all right now she was a little scared for her own life, and rightly so. She would have turned and ran but her bag was still on the ground and she needed it, though it wasn't worth her life she wanted to at least leave with the bag itself.

It always pleased the woman to see how she struck fear into her surroundings even when it wasn’t intentional. The latte coloured canine jumped in the opposite direction of the pregnant intruder and spluttered silly words that revealed only youth and ignorance. The red eyed mother shook her head once to turn down the spontaneous question that had exited the foolish child’s tongue. Was the Infernian that pleasant to interact with? All she had done was to offer some insight, and the girl already looked as if she wanted to be anywhere but here. Perhaps Halo should have chosen a different greeting.

”I wished only to offer you some enlightenment,” the Lykoi smoothly brought forth, swiping away stray strands of auburn locks that threatened to fall into scarlet eyes. ”Danger always exists outside home.” And within its walls as well, the woman added to herself, though no longer bitter at the past her thoughts referred to. If this girl wished to run away from her, then that was that, and only the hybrid’s laughter would leap forth to harm her. Wolves seemed to be most interesting while they were dead or dying. The incident with Symera and the volatile lone wolf at the borders was still fresh in an appreciative mind.

The calm voice of the woman in front of her was in no way soothing, but it calmed Eclipses fears in more ways than it could, she relaxed slightly, but now she was on guard with this woman expecially scaring her as much as she did. The woman spoke truer words than Eclipse could ever know but she had yet to learn this lesson on her own, though she had been very close to learning it, but it would have meant her end.

“Th- Thank you ma'am for the advice. I suppose I should be more cautious. I'm Eclipse Soulstorm...”

The girl said unsteadily, though slightly more confidently. She was finding the woman interesting, and quite beautiful. This was something she hardly envied on others but her mother, though she was long gone, this woman was lean, fit, ready for action, and yet the bulge in her belly made her all the more stunning. The way it rounded out as she was closing in on her time to give birth.

“I can't help but feel I should know you. You smell like someone I know but I don't know who.”

She admitted as she moved back to the spice that she had been digging up. She wanted it, and when she wanted something she did her best to try and get it. She was cautious though as the woman seemed unpredictable. It was best not to get on her bad side, in Eclipse's opinion, and she was sure that it was true. She couldn't tell this woman hated wolves nor that she could easily leave the young girl in a pool of blood and walk off without a care, but there was the air about her that told Eclipse she was definitely dangerous. She would be extra special around this woman, not knowing it was she who had been the victim of her own father and as a result had the brother she met, yet didn't know she had.
