Honey if you want Saul to come and help with the birth you can do :3 if not then its fine. Kris, I figured Nayru could come by when everything is finished to see the new Ichikans? The birth will be very quick, taking no more than an hour or two at most.

Her time was close now, less than a day if her body was working on time, not even hours to wait until her and Temo's offspring would enter the world, she could feel the quiver on her stomach that urged her to find somewhere comfortable to lay and rest until her time came but the wolfdog was stubborn and insisted on being on her feet, out and about, she could never stand to stay bedridden for so many weeks. Although it was almost midday the world was darkened by the angry looking clouds that swirled about overhead and to the south. Jace struggled to the door and opened to better hear the rumbles of thunder as they echoed in the distance, closing her eyes and letting the sound wash over her.

Against her better judgement and slightly breaching the promise she had made to Temo she stepped out of the safe confines of her home and into the outside world which offered many dangers to one in her condition. She did not go far, just around the back to see the horses. They grey mare had given birth extremely late and out of season to a charcoal black filly with a white blaze on her muzzle. The little foal was just under a month old and as frisky as any young animal could be, she would need real help to survive the upcoming winter.

After the pups were born she and Temo had made plans to build a shelter for them to huddle in so they could escape the cold and biting wind. The filly was an inquisitive one and bounded up to the fence as she approached, nickering curiously. The grey mare tensed visibly as Jace reached over the fence but relaxed when she saw that the canine only ruffled her young foal's short mane. Before being caught from the wild by Jace they had been born on a horse farm, its primary purpose was supplying horse meat, pelts and bones to the surrounding packs and villages, so they were nervous beings even around Jace who had proved herself trustworthy.

The filly pulled her head back and attempted to suckle on her ash colored fingers, Jace laughed and moved them out of reach, leaning her swollen stomach against the fence, reliving the pressure on her back. She grinned as the foal lost interest in her and gamboled back to her mama for a drink and then ran in dizzying circles around her uncle, the white stallion doing his best to ignore the grey bullet but ultimately was drawn into a game of chase and catch. Jace could watch the horses play all day, it had a calming effect on her to see them so happy and care free. No longer did they have to fear being killed and eaten or forced to fight for sport something that Jace found to be extremely disgusting and horrible.

It was during this quiet moment whilst the most stressful thing happening to her was a slight wind and the dark clouds whirling around overhead that a shot of pain flashed through her stomach. The woman let out a short gasp and doubled over whilst clutching her belly. The horses stopped in their games to watch her as she leaned over against the fencing letting out short cries of pain. As she suffered with her distress and discomfort. The grey female and her foal began to edge closer to see if she was alright only to leap back in shock and fear as the woman suddenly raised her head to the sky and let forth a howl calling for Temo to come back home, that she needed his help. 'Come, come, it's time, it's time'

Her call died into silence and she could only hope he was within hearing distance of it, if not then she would be giving birth alone and to be honest, quite scared. She would be a mother, a real mother, to children that lived and breathed, that moved and thought, real lives unlike the ones she had struggled to bring into the world not so long ago that had no chance of lasting. The female panted heavily as she leaned against the fence, severely hampered by the weight at her front and the agony shooting through her, it was difficult to walk so instead she simply held onto the fence and waited for help to arrive.

it's time. it's time. lol | +405

Temo was slowly crawling through the tall grass in search of prey. He was in his lupus form to facilitate hunting the rabbits that frequent the area. He was trying to concentrate on the task at hand to forget the feeling that something was about to happen. He had the feeling for a while now, and it was making him antsy and he hoped that whatever it was, it would happen sooner than later.

Jace's howl drifted on the breeze through the trees and over the tall grass and into Temo's ears. His head shot up above the grass scaring a couple of rabbits near by that he was, until this moment was stalking. His ears rotated to the direction that the howl came from. His head swiveled around as his nose came around to point in the direction his ears turned to.

He knew Jace was close to her birthing time and now he knew that the time had come. He had heard it in her howl and he also heard the urgency in her voice. The rabbits now long gone and forgotten, Temo bounded over to a tree and with his muzzle picked up a couple of rabbits he had already caught and tied together for transport. Off he went running as fast as his four legs could carry him to their house. He had not gone to far because he did not want to leave her alone for to long.

After several minutes of hard running Temo arrived on the porch of their home. He changed into his optime form and threw open the door and rushed inside. A quick look into each of the rooms was all he did as he searched for her. "Jace!" he called out, "Where are..." he continued and cut himself short when he saw her through the window standing outside leaning against the fence.

With a quick movement, Temo tosses the rabbits onto the counter as he sped past and out the french doors to where Jace was leaning against the fence. He could tell by the pained look on her face that it was definitely time. "Let's get you inside," he said to her as he carefully put his arms around her to help keep her steady. He held on to her to give her support and to catch her just in case if she looses her balance as he helped her towards and into the house.

I realised earlier that canines don't 'have thier waters break' like humans do. So no wetting herself for jace XD

Temo's return was swift, the black male appearing from the french door of the kitchen like a ghost. She hadn't heard or scented him, too focused on the wait that kept her knees weak. How had she managed the other time to walk all the way like she had done? Perhaps her mother had been there helping, watching over her, giving her oldest daughter strength even as her world threatened to collapse around her. That strength was absent now as she gripped onto the fence to stay upright, her legs threatening to give out under her at any point. She wasn't panicked despite the pain and apprehension, she felt disturbingly peaceful, blessed maybe.

She grabbed onto his support gratefully, wrapping an arm almost painfully tight around his waist as he held onto her by her shoulders. The majority of her weight he was supporting by his arms and he hoped he didn't let go, not even for a second, she was certain that if he did she would crash to the ground. But he didn't, keeping hold of his promise to help and protect her as they made slow way and finally got into the house. She pulled the door closed behind her and blocked out the outside world. The horses nickered curiously in their paddock, having followed the couple's progress along the fence, trotting after them until the fence prevented them from going any further. The grey mare's chest was pressed against it as she tried to look into the closed off house.

The question had come to Jace several months ago when she had first become pregnant of where she would lay to bare her young, the answer was obvious though, in the house. She had claimed one of the spare bedrooms as her nursery, the one that was connected by a wall to the master bedroom and had then boarded up the door that led in from the corridor before hacking a luperci sized hole through the drywall and plaster between the two rooms making the only entry into the room through the closet in the master bedroom. The bed within the nursery had been shoved to the side up against the door further blocking off that way of entry.

A length of thick material had been stapled to the windowsill covering up the glass and plunging the room into almost blackness, she felt more comfortable in the darkness. On shelves higher up on the walls a collection of candles stood ready to be lit and create a soft glow that would illuminate the nursery gently. Once the pups were older she would pull down the material covering the window but for now she felt safer with it blocked out. The center piece of the room was a huge pile of blankets, rags towels and other soft slivers of material. Although the bedding on the bed still remained so that Temo could sleep on it if he did not wish to join her in the heap.

Someone saying that the rags, towels and blankets had been 'torn apart' could well be accused of gross under-exaggeration. They had been completely shredded by the mother to be during the month's of her pregnancy until they resembled confetti more than anything that had once been material.

"Help me down onto here" She said meaning the pile that would be her birthing bed.

His concern for Jace and their soon to be family, Temo did not notice that Jace was hanging off of him as he helped her across the yard. He was practically lifting her up the steps leading to the french doors and into the house. He did not even notice Jace had closed the door behind them as his concern slowly turned to excitement the closer to the bedroom they got.

With some maneuvering, He managed to help Jace through the hole that Jace had made in the wall of their bedroom. After they hacked the hole through the wall, he had come back and cleaned the edges of it up so they would not keep getting streaks of plaster powder in their fur every time they went through the hole. With extreme care and loving, Temo helped Jace to the pile of rags and lowered her to them. As he helped her settle into the nest, he asked her "Anything you need or want?"

It was dark in the nursery, but with his wolf eyes, he could see well enough to get around. After he helped Jace get settled in, he went around the room and made sure everything was ok. He made sure the blanket was covering the window and not letting any light in. He looked over the candles that were situated on a shelf, "Are you wanting the candles lit now?" he asked keeping his voice quiet because it felt like he should be quiet in the nursery.

Temo made his way around to the bed and sat down. He bounced up and down a little as he tested the springiness of the mattress. Some thoughts wandered through his head while he waited for Jace to decide if she needed anything. He knew that she kept the bed in the nursery for when he stayed in there with her and one thought occurred to him and he decided to ask, "I know some prefer solitude during the birthing or do not want males around, what is your preference?"

She gasped as more pain shot through her momentarily cutting off her ability to respond to his questions. The hybrid closed her eyes and moaned softly, her tongue almost constantly hanging from her jaws. This hurt. A lot more than the other time had done but Jace had been in a very weak place then both mentally and physically. Her body had been starved and her mind broken, chased by demons and wraiths and all things unholy and evil. Now she was in a much better place to deal with it, well fed and happy, spoilt even. She grinned at that, Temo did spoil her so much,

"Just some... water please." Giving birth was thirsty work. She was glad she was keeping her good humor throughout this ordeal. Mismatched eyes flickered open again now that the slice of hurt had receded. It seemed perhaps that the woman would not spend all of the time in agony unlike the other time. Her gaze pierced the darkness like stars did the night's sky, glowing from her face even though their was not a light source for them to reflect. The only light within the room was the small sliver that came in through the hole in the wall to their bedroom.

"No, leave them off for now. The darkness is fine." Her head turned to watch him as he tested the bounciness of the bed and a grin crossed her face although it quickly turned into a grimace for a few seconds. A bubble of panic raced up her throat at his words, he was leaving? He couldn't leave, an upset cry burst from her chest and she leaned forwards,

"Don't leave me." Their was honest fear in her eyes, she was scared he would leave he to face this alone. She wasn't sure if she could do it alone.

He stopped flexing his legs so he would stop bouncing on the bed which brought which made him sit still. It was not the reaction that Temo had expected from Jace when he thought of and asked the question. Although he could not see her face clearly, only the shadow of her head with the glint of her eyes as she looked at him, he could not see the emotions that was going through her eyes because of the near blackness of the room, but he did hear the fear in her voice when she told him not to leave her alone.

Temo quickly moved off of the bed and carefully made his way to the pile of rags and sat down next to Jace. He put his arms around her shoulders and held her tight against him. "Do not be frightened, I will not leave you." he whispered into her ear. The water she requested not forgotten, just put off because he did not feel leaving her right now was a good idea, even for the short trip to the kitchen where they had some water skins that he had filled earlier that day.

He could feel the muscles of her body tense when the pain from the contractions went through her like a knife as he held her close against him. With a light kiss onto her forehead he continued to whisper soothingly to her, "I am here and will not... can not... leave you." His eyes roamed around the dark room and he remembered something about Jace having mentioned that some of her friends might show to assist her at this time however he had not heard anyone arriving and announcing their arrival yet, "I am here to help in any way I can, let me know what to do."

sorry it took me so long, Honrin coming first - all white fur, male
5+

The woman cringed and whined and moaned with the tidal wave of contractions that rippled over her. This torment was all consuming and in the heat of her pain the woman swore she would never again give birth as all women do during this time. But Jace's thoughts would never be true the guardian women loved the idea of children too much to simply stop at one litter. Down here in the warmer south they had a much better chance of survival and with the pack's help maybe they would all live to adulthood. She bedded furthur down into her nest of material trimmings as though she could hide from the pain within the comfortable recesses of he makeshift birthing bed.

One blanket however remained whole and had not been shredded. It sat close to the pile of confetti like mass within easy reach of Jace. It was the one that Wretch had given her not a week ago at Noah and Rendall's mateship ceremony. Jace reached out and touched the soft material with her fingers, feeling it gently. Her breathing became more and more labored and she found herself unable to respond to Temo's words. Her panic however settled as he confirmed he wouldn't leave and the fur around her ruff that had poofed out laid back down around her neck. She could feel another wave of agony baring down upon her and her hand shot out to cling onto Temo's, her claws digging into his flesh deeply but not on purpose as the woman screamed loudly, the sound filling up the entire house and causing the horses to trot about nervously in their pen.

Pressure mounted and then released suddenly as she pushed the mass of flesh and fluid into the outside world. For her fatness and exhaustion the speed at which she leaned forwards to retrieve her child was astounding. The sticky membranes were licked away to reveal the tiny male child underneath. Blood was all that stained his purest of white fur and the boy child cried out in shock at being suddenly cold. Tailo had sounded just like it when he had cried out and Jace waited hardly daring to breath for a second one. Please don't let him die too.

But it did. And again and again. The boy continued to cry out his unimpressed opinion of the cold new world around him sounding more like a cat than the hybrid of dogs and wolves that he was. Her relief was palatable and very obvious in her body language. The boy had taken on the coloring of his grandmother and her clan and he would always be able to pass for an arctic wolf unlike herself and her sister. A small sliver of light pierced the gloom from a gap between the material and window as the clouds parted for a mere second and struck the pup as Jace held him out to Temo. Jace looked to the light and felt tears gathering in her eyes Look mother, I did it. He's beautiful just like you are

Temo could not believe that he was seconds from becoming a father. He had dreamed about it when he was younger just to have those dreams smashed when there was no one that wanted to share the dreams with him. That was not the only reason that he had left his birth pack, but it was the main reason. There was nothing for him there and a life alone wandering the forests and dilapidated human cities was a far better life than the constant reminder that he was alone in a pack.

The pain of Jace's nails digging into his hand brought him back to the present and a tear to his eye. One of his ears laid back onto his head as he winced from the pain of her nails digging in and her scream piercing his ears. A wave of sadness washed over him because there was not anything he could do to relieve her of the pain.

All that was forgotten when the smell of blood and amniotic fluids reach his nose and Jace let go of his hand. Many thoughts went through his mind as he waited for Jace to remove the amniotic sac. He did not realize that he had heald his breath when the continued squalling of the pup confirmed to him that it was alive and not happy with the sudden change in environment.

A wave of happiness overtook him as he carefully took his small, wet, and noisy son into his hands. Tears welled up in his eyes, but this time they were tears of happiness as it seemed that this time, they would have a family to raise instead of the pain and heartache of death staining their lives. In the moment of quiet while the pup tried to fathom the sudden change from her hands to his, Temo whispered, "He is... he is... beautiful."

lol Jace spazzed out

He resembled a large rat or other small furry thing rather than a canine, with ears folded close to his head, short legs that pedaled the air and a stubby tail that wiggled tentatively, blunt nose bumped against Temo's fingers and a mouth with a too large tongue opened seeking the all important food. Ripples still ran down the swell of her stomach but the pain no longer bothered her, it heartened her and gave her strength. They were here, he was here and alive, they all were. The whispers on her muzzle trembled with excitement and fear. What if he grew up and he didn't like her? What if he didn't want her to be his mother? These silly thoughts ran around her head as she took him back from Temo and the boy latched on to her breast and suckled. A weird feeling erupted in her stomach as she watched him feed, it was so strange, so unreal, so new. This tiny life that she had been given to guard and protect, teach and help to grow, to love and cherish in a way different to the love she held for Temo. He was more important, the white boy but not in a bad way. He was more important than both of them apart and both of them together as well, something precious and fragile.

Pain started again but she only acknowledged it with a unconcerned grunt of breath. In her mental ramblings with eyes focused on her son it didn't occur to her that there would be others on their way, more for her to worship and love and look after. Another louder breath of air and she looked up irritably, annoyed at being interrupted from staring at him and came back to her surroundings with a shake of the head. Breath was exhaled through her nose as the annoyed lines of her face subsided back into painted curiosity.

There were many thoughts that spiraled through his head, most of which centered around that he could not believe that he was now a father. It all seemed so much like a dream. For most all of his life, he had always thought that he would never reach this point. He had always thought that he would live his life alone and it was one of the reasons he had decided to leave his birth pack and wander the forests of the north american continent.

It seemed so much like a dream, his travels to where he was now. His mate, Jace and the tiny pup that squirmed in his hand as it looked for the all important food. Becoming a father was something that he had thought would never occur. Becoming a father was something that he felt that he would not be good enough for and never attain. Temo stared at his empty hand for several moments after Jace had carefully retrieved the pup and placed him to suckle his first milk. If this was a dream, he hoped that he would never wake.

Slowly, he put his hand down and turned to watch the pup with wonder suckle hungrily at Jace's belly. His thoughts turned to the fact that he is now a father and if he would be a good father. He hoped that he will be a good father and some worry crept into his mind that he might turn out not to be a good father. His eyes moved to look at her when he heard the grunt of breath from her as another wave of pain proceeded through her. Temo put an arm around Jace in an effort to comfort her a bit sad because he could not do anything about the pain, excitement showing from his eyes at the thought that there is another pup that wanted to come out and meet their daddy.

Lolo Welcome Pandora Big Grin

This time she did not scream or cry out as she had done before instead she simple breathed heavily as her tongue lolled uselessly out the side of her mouth, every now and again a droplet of saliva would form a small drop on the end and then drip from it onto the pelts. Mismatched eyes were weary already though this ordeal was far from over, she knew the first one would be the hardest and most exhausting even though he may not necessarily be the largest. Now the passageways were open for the next ones and they would slide quicker and easier from her scarred body.

She was grateful for his arm despite not showing him any sign that she was other than the slight relaxing of her shoulders, she needed all energy and concentration and focus to stay on top because if she left the pain and other things overwhelm her then she was gone and the ghosts would take her soul into the beyond along with those that she could not get out in time. Her stomach felt now like there was a nest of snakes writhing around inside of it, vying for her attention and affection, the muscles of her abdomen moved so strangely.

She hissed through gritted teeth as another wave built up, inspiring her to push and become the force behind it rather than let the contractions do it for her, where was the pride in that. She pushed for all she was worth and with all the strength in her bones. With a particularly painful squeeze a second entered the world, a squalling mass of multi colors like her mother, for she was female, with the small difference of greys lightening from dark rather than darkening from light, the girl child she had birthed was almost her spitting image and yet every bit as unique as her brother. Again she picked her child up and cleaned her of the fluids and so on, admiring the sight of her. The tiny brown spots on her ears, tail and around her eyes. A second child to present to her mate, whom she loved so dearly.

It was quiet outside as it seemed that the whole world had stopped for this moment. The birthing of Temo and Jace's litter being that moment that had put the world on hold. It was a good thing that it was quiet outside because Temo may not have noticed if anything was going on he was so enthralled with the pups as Jace was showing them to him still wet from the birthing fluids as this is the first time that he has seen pups this young before.

With such delicacy, Temo took the second pup and held her in his hand and close to his chest. He was afraid to move for fear that he might drop her. She is beautiful, like her mother, he whispered ever so quietly not wanting to disturb the moment, or the pups, with his loud voice.

He returned the pup to Jace and watched as she placed the pup down and latch onto a teat to nurse. It all still seemed like a dream as his mind was having difficulty in believing that he was now a father. His mind kept going back to various questions like "would he be a good father" and "would he know the right things to do or say". He hoped that he would be a good father and not screw up their children to bad.

She felt, she knew that now she was halfway through this ordeal her body threw at her and now she could rest if even ever so slightly. The female breathed out a silent whisper of air and leaned back on her bed of shredded pelts. The two children she had already birthed gave short quiet moans at the movement but soon settled back down into their feeding. Almost without noticing the new mother drifted off into a light sleep with her totally helpless children laid on her chest while her body geared itself up to expel the other two tiny figures that still resided inside of her.

She woke up with a soft grunt, and blinked confusedly, not much time had passed really only about twenty or thirty minutes but to Jace it felt like she had been asleep for hours, maybe even a whole night. She yawned and shifted herself up a little,

"How long was I out?" She looked down at the young pups, both now curled up asleep on her white furred stomach, dashed with streaks of red and green from the blood and afterbirth. She still felt strangely towards them at the moment, she wondered when the rush of maternal instincts she had felt the first time would come into play. Maybe the death of her first two had broken that part of her? She turned to Temo who was all but invisible in the darkness, the hoarseness of her voice apparent,

"Can you get me some water please. I'm dieing of thirst over here." She tried to make it into a little joke, the sparkle of her eyes showed it, but she was still worried. She returned her gaze back to the children, both of whom stood out in the gloom due to the white of their pelts, the boy more so than the girl.

He was quiet and remained that way as well as staying still when he noticed that Jace had drifted off into a light sleep. He knew she needed her rest and did not want to disturb her. He quieted the thoughts that were going though his head. Temo realized that he would not know, nor would anyone else know, the answer to the one question that was foremost in his mind: "Would he be a good father". He, nor anyone else, could not answer that question until he had raised their children and he needed to stop dwelling on it.

Temo started when Jace woke up with a grunt. He realized that he must have "slept" with his eyes open, at least that was the way it seemed like. His nose tested the air to make sure they were still safe in their house, hidden away in the nursery. With a glance at Jace then down at the pups, he reassured himself that everything was still ok and there was nothing wrong with the pups.

His shoulders moved in the slow up and down movement of a shrug as he did not know how long Jace had dozed off. "Sure, I can get you some water," he whispered and kissed her on her forehead. "Would you like something to eat too?" he continued with the whisper as he quietly stood up, some of his joints complaining with pops and snaps as he straightened up and ducked out the curtained opening.

Temo was not gone long with his trek to the kitchen for liquid refreshment. He got a couple of tall glasses from the cupboard and filled them from the pot full of water they made sure to keep full for when the this time came. With the glasses of water and a tupperware full of dried meat strips, he returned to the darkness of the nursery and handed Jace the refreshment she had requested.

She nodded as he asked if she wanted something to eat as well, she was feeling a bit hungry. She listened to his form leaving aware of the ruffle of material and then his footsteps receding away. Silence then apart from the quiet moans of the children that laid on her swollen belly. But she found that within the supposed silence caused by the lack of activity or voices there was a surprisingly large amount of noise. The house creaking, wind whistling through cracks. The female breathed in sharply as another speak of pain lanced through her, her body had rested and wished to continue it seemed, she gasped again as a muscle in her back spasm-ed, pushing a hand to her spine.

She took the water from him but ignored the box of meat, now feeling queasy again, the smell of it making her gag and she turned her head away. Even the water settled uncomfortably and churned within her gut, threatening to come back up. She shook her head, limp eat dips dancing about and handed back the water with an unhappy groan. The squeezing of her stomach coupled with the pain in her spine were enough to make her cry out again and her eyes water. It was sharper this time, more than the body wide ache of before, now it was situated around her back.

For a good fifteen minutes it was all she could do to keep breathing and not lose the contents of her stomach. The urge to push came upon her and she followed with it, her cries again growing to screams. the pain was more than just that of giving birth, now she was fighting exhaustion as well as an overwhelming urge to give in, to lose herself to the agony. Then relief as a third child entered the world, this one would be black with tanned markings like those of the dog shepherds in both their ancestry but Jace had not the energy to push herself forwards and pick the child up, Temo would have to help her.

The trip to the kitchen helped stretch his muscles out and to clear out the fuzziness that was creeping into his head. He was feeling tired having been sitting in the dark and not doing much moving. Feeling refreshed from having a drink and a quick walk to the kitchen and back to the nursery, he had settled back down in his place next to Jace and made sure the extra water and food was pushed off to the side out of the way.

In the dark of the room, no one would have noticed his ears were partially laid back, not only from trying to protect the inner ears from her cries of pain, but in annoyance that he could do little to help relieve her of the pain. All he could do was sit with her and hold her against him for support.

As he sat with her and held her, he could feel the exhaustion creeping through her muscles and in her breathing. Worry for her and the pups crept onto his face and would have been seen in his eyes if there was light enough to see in the darkened room. When Jace did make a move to pick up the newest member of their family, Temo knew it was because she was exhausted and with the gentleness that he did not know he possessed, got the pup and held it up for Jace to take.

An ashen paw that trembled with fatigue gratefully reached out to take the third child that had been expelled from her body within its grasp gently. The child was brought to an inquiring black nose and licked clean of all mucus and fluid without thought or ceremony. Another girl they were blessed with. Amber and blue softened as they beheld their daughter, a tiny wisp of a girl, smaller then her two siblings for now, that could change in the future. Jace had been smaller than Elsie when they had been born but she had soon grown to match her sister. A tiny mouth opened and an impossibly small tongue came out to lick the very tip of her nose. Blackened muzzle smiled and the girl child, who was a very deep dark brown, almost black in some places with streaks and socks of tan on her legs and chest., was laid on a smaller but still slightly swollen stomach with her brother and sister. She offset the other colors of her siblings very nicely, her brown merging in with their multitude of other colors. A vast difference to the mostly black children she had birthed in Phoenix Valley. At the thought of her deceased babies the woman frowned and her brow wrinkled up as she looked down upon her first three like an over watchful guard dog.

Although she didn't mean it really, her mate was roundly ignored as she stared at their children with a mixture of sadness, fear and longing painted on her face. She missed those two despite never knowing them or seeing them live, she would always hunger for them, their love and warmth. Without the protective net that was the companionship of the females within her birth pack Jace was still struggling to cope with their loss, there was no one who could fill their place, not even Temo, it wasn't his fault but he just was not enough. He could only provide her with so much support as she did the same for him but for Jace growing up in a world where there was always an auntie or a mother, an older female cousin to turn to, a room that had been so full of life and voices was suddenly empty and echoing, deserted and lost.

Tears came to the wolfdog, silent ones that offered no hitching of breath or wordless sobs to identify them with just streams of salty water that welled from her eyes, so many lives destroyed and yet only one suffered for it, her. Her children would never know the safety blanket of support, despite Ichika's best efforts to look after them it would not be the same, there was not enough closeness between its members, they did not fight day and night to keep each other alive and relish every moment as a blessing, every heartbeat as another death thread denied, the chill of the arctic at times was even too much for its native creatures.

Contractions started again, or maybe they had never stopped but merely lessened in their pain. If she had thought the effort to push the first into the world was too much then the fourth was a living nightmare. For the longest of all of them she was in a world of pain and delusions, whimpering quietly now with no more voice to scream and shout. Whoever said that giving birth was a joy needed their head seriously examined. She could hear whispering from somewhere inside of her head although the voices were too faint to hear.

With a last muffled cry of effort their fourth and last was born into the world, already crying her displeasure for the cold and shock. She could hardly spare the energy to move her eyes to look at her youngest, again Temo would have to help the suffering woman. Tan tipped ears twitched though to hear the cries and fingers itched to move forwards and pick this new one up but there was no strength behind the will, no power to give movement to the body, she was numb and exhausted. As soon as Temo picked her up for Jace the afterbirth was expelled from her body and the birthing was done.

It had suddenly gotten quiet in the room. Despite that Jace was in labor, she was being quiet. Temo could feel that there was something that had her depressed at the moment. He did not know what it was that had blackened her mood at the moment, and he would not ask. All he did was to stay quiet and hold and comfort her while her body expelled their children out into the world.

he felt her muscles tense up under her fur as the contractions started again in the attempt to push out the last of the pups. Without realizing that he was doing it, Temo was holding his breath while Jace's body labored to push out one more pup into the world. He wished that he could take the pain away so she would feel better.

With one last push, their pup came out into the cold, cruel world. He let out his breath and only just realized that he was holding it in. Knowing that Jace still needed some help, he retrieved the tiny, wet fluff ball and handed her to Jace. He quickly cleaned up the afterbirth and the blood and fluid soaked rags and blankets, placing them in a container that he had ready. The nest cleaned so Jace could snuggle down and sleep if she wanted, he settled down and snuggled up to her to keep her warm and safe.
