This thread is mostly to get into Éloise’s head and figure out her personality. Anyone is welcome to join ;D. Set in downtown Halifax. Eloise is scraggly, mostly white with a bit of black mixed in.

The old woman had been walking for so long, it seemed. She had been fascinated with this city, however, and against her usually nomadic preference she had stayed here for weeks. A stranger had reminded her of the humans once, and only recently that conversation came to light in the ghost lady's mind. She trotted through the streets, azure eyes seeking nothing in particular. She had been sleeping in random buildings and hadn't felt an attachment to any part of the city yet. Éloise had never been to this eastern land before, but she was enjoying herself. It felt different, somehow.

Charcoal nose dug through the remains of what she assumed to be some old human relic; it was a plastic bin filled with various goodies she didn't know about. The woman chewed on the plastic for a while, trying to figure out what she was going to be doing today. She hadn't eaten in a while but the hunger didn't bother her. A life of travel meant good meals were a rare occurrence. The plastic container now behind her, the wolf continued trotting on ahead in no direct in particular.

Terra had watched the wolf walk through the city. She laughed to herself when she saw her chew on the plastic. Only small children usually did that where she came from, as they quickly learned that plastic tastes bad and can make you choke. Since most coyotes were interested in surviving, they didn't chew on plastic. Dropping in behind her Terra followed the wolf down the street. The rubbish was annoying, but she'd deal with it.

Darting into an alley Terra morphed into her secui form. Scaring the wolf seemed like it would be fun. There weren't many around, and the city was strange. Most canines tended to be nervous when confronted with such a situation. It'd be easy to do, and amusing. Still acting stealthy Terra made sure to stay out of sight, hoping that the wolf would grow uneasy when she sensed her presence.

Hope you don't mind me joining. Ephraim is in lupus form.

Ephraim had dreamed of steel trees.

He believed in dreams as prophecies, and so naturally he had sought out these strange structures. He had been quietly pointed in the right direction, and his excitement had built when he saw the city skyline before him. What the meaning of this dream was, he did not know, but perhaps there was something to be found in the labyrinth of roads and alleys—a secret yet to be seen. Perhaps it would provide an answer to his oscillating mind.

The quarter-dog was restless once he had entered the city, however. Buildings alone mesmerized him, but he’d gotten very used to them in his time with the Tribe, being cooped up in a cottage for weeks. However, with the wind howling past strange cars and skyscrapers, he was on edge. And that was when the normally foolish eunuch was most dangerous.

Ephraim was strange—grinning and giggling and goofy, smelling not quite like a proper male, apparently an idiot. His mind was sharp, however, and his survival instincts were even sharper, able to create deep wounds with the aid of his yellowing fangs.

He froze and lowered his ears when another gust blew through his thick coat. The cold didn’t bother him, coming from the north, but the thought of winter bothered him. He hoped he could cope, and that the memories and starvation wouldn’t return—the benefit of having a pack, he supposed. He licked his lips then blinked when he saw a ghostly shape ahead—a white smattered with dark greys, smoke on snow.

A quick sniff revealed that this woman was a loner, and one older than him. He was bordering on six years, and yet she at least had a year on him, if not more. The thought of hanging out with someone else as potentially wise as him made him smile, and he walked forward with thoughts of calling out to her.

His sharpened senses made him freeze in his tracks, however, as he passed by an alleyway. The large wolf blinked and turned, ears lowering and lips slowly wrinkling back over his teeth—and he spotted a halfling-formed shape in the shadows of the narrow space. The figure couldn’t have been more suspicious if they tried.

Quickly, Ephraim snarled.

I forgot to mention she's in lupus form. >_>

A snarl behind her sent a chill down the timid woman's spine, and so she quickly whipped around to face her adversary. He wasn't aiming that sound towards her, though, and the woman narrowed her eyes in confusion. She ran towards the man, tensing for a fight. He didn't seem particularly interested in Eloise, however. A shadow hid the real adversary in the alley. Eloise's sight was disappearing in her old age and she wouldn't have noticed the other stranger if the man hadn't alerted her to it. Quickly, Eloise thought about what to do.

Friendliness, she deemed, was the correct way to approach this situation. "Is everything alright?" she asked innocently, not trying to start anything. Eloise had seen her fair share of battles in her lifetime but now was not the time for one. She was weak and tired. The male seemed friendly enough; but the hulking figure in the background didn't. This could indeed turn into something tricky if she wasn't careful. "What are you doing in that dark place?" the French lady directed to the figure in the shadows, her voice husky from a lack of use. Being on your own meant infrequent conversations, but Eloise didn't mind. She had enough trouble from packs to last a lifetime.

Terra's reaction was swift. As soon as the first snarl was released she leaped further into the shadows, darting round a corner in the back. The older wolf that she'd been planning on scaring didn't seem to notice, mistaking an old dumpster as the shadow where she used to be. Backtracking from an alley that came out from ahead Terra snuck behind them. Everything's just fine. Softly Terra checked herself. She was still in secui form, and quite terrifying for a surprise. Not wanting to start a panic, well maybe she did a little, Terra twisted away, darting into another alley. Now that they knew she was there, sneaking around would be a lot harder.

This didn't mean she was going to give up though. Hurriedly she shifted into optime form, and using a broken window began climbing up. It was hard, and she was lucky to not hit any broken glass. Success met her though, and she stood on the roof of a building, crouched low. Movement would be key now. The canines had become aware of her presence, and would undoubtedly move to react. Cursing the male that spotted her Terra cautiously leaned over the edge, watching to see what they would do. Both were luperci, so they would be able to copy her if they were swift enough to follow. It would be a shame if her game was ruined.

Ephraim was no stranger to ambushes. He’d been attacked as an omega in the pack a few times, after he’d been cut—wild wolf instincts intending to drive away the strange-smelling boy. But he knew how to handle himself by now. His hackles stood on end as his lips wrinkled back, muzzle pointed toward the shadow in the alley. Out of the corner of his eye, however, was a white shape running toward him.

The wolf’s first instinct was to whirl at her, but his lips fell back over his fangs as he turned and recognized her. She greeted him, kind but concerned, and glanced toward the alley where the troublemaker stood—or at least he thought.

“Some some punk kid causing trouble,” the eunuch muttered. He adored puppies more than anything else in the world, but many lost their innocence heading into their first year of life; by scent, he could tell this sneaky creature was at that age. He knew teenagers had the capacity for cruelty, had witnessed it firsthand before, and this one hadn’t made a good first impression.

“I’m sorry if I startled you, darling,” he continued, smiling kindly at the older woman. He was about to say more, but a voice and footsteps behind them made him whirl and bare his teeth again. He caught a glimpse of the secui-formed rogue before she darted back into an alley again. Did she think this was a game? Did she realize that pestering two experienced adults in such a form was deadly? He scowled as her brown shape disappeared, and he turned back to the older woman.

“I’m getting too old to chase punks,” Ephraim murmured. He glanced to her, back at the alley, then made the slight transformation into a larger secui form. He looked large and intimidating now, bulky and powerful—though anyone who poked him would realize this form consisted more of thick fur and fat more than muscle. Despite that, he hoped that it would deter whoever they were from attacking, if that was indeed their plan. “Shall I be your escort?” he asked the pale woman, grinning in a silly manner. “Unless you wanted time for yourself, but wandering around in a steel forest such as this can be so lonely.”

And with any luck, they could get away from this rogue.

You guys reply so quickly! I can't keep up ;D

Whoever was enjoying taunting the two older wolves was irritating, to say the least. Él never took well to games she couldn't control, and she certainly didn't enjoy being treated this way. The older woman looked into the dark alley, the figure's shadow having disappeared. This wasn't something she wanted right now. She stayed exactly where she was, choosing to sit on the concrete, ashy tail wrapped tightly around her small frame. Él turned her attetion to the man, who had quite nicely stayed with her. "I am too, I do not enjoy games zees days," She appreciated his company; if he was around, the chance of her getting attacked would probably decrease significantly.

He offered to be her escort, and the dusty woman nodded, a small smile creeping up on her aged lips. "Zhat would be vonderful, merci," He was of the same mind as she was, and the loner appreciated the company. He mentioned lonliness, and she chuckled. "I'hve been alone for most of ma life, so eet doez not bother me too much. I am Éloise, by zee way," Her smile grew larger as her mind drifted away from the young wolf trying to cause trouble. He was a kind soul, and she appreciated him being there.

OOC Your speed is fine!

So they wouldn't chase after her. Terra watched as the male shifted to secui form. That was a threat, one aimed directly at her. She wouldn't be able to approach them in secui form anymore, as she couldn't defend herself if they chose to attack. Instead Terra watched the couple as they began to browse through the city. With a leap Terra pushed herself to the next roof, and sat down, thinking. The male was obviously a gentleman, and a fighter in his youth. His swift reactions to her had shown that, and his choice to accompany the female.

The female was more of a mystery. Her sight was bad, and she hadn't startled at Terra's actions. Was that because she was too old to hear her, or simply because she felt secure? While Terra would have felt fairly confident approaching the dog, the wolf left her on edge, needing to test them further. Then, and only then, would she introduce herself, if she didn't simply choose to leave after. Having decided on what she was going to do, Terra shifted back into her secui form. It would help her pull off the movements she was planning, though she wasn't planning on getting close enough to them to be spotted again. As it was, Terra felt it was too dangerous.

Straightening up Terra let out a coyote's call, telling others to come, that there was something to hunt. Done she swiftly darted back, pushing herself behind them. This time she allowed the wolf part of her voice to come out, echoing the call for a hunt. Terra didn't have the time to run across to the other buildings, so instead she moved forward, and using the echoes off the buildings called as a coyote once more. The result was the sound of a pack, moving closer. Pleased Terra looked over. How would they act now?

The dusty-white female took a seat on the concrete, agreeing with his sentiment about the games the troublemaker was playing. His brown eyes looked over the older woman for a moment before nodding once more, confirming his position as her escort for however long they chose to walk together. He had never been the type of male to skip around impressing the women—just for a lack of attraction to, well, anything due to his hormonal imbalances—but his offer was out of kindness that was rare around these parts anymore. And he wanted to chat; he was lonely.

“Ahh, I’ve been alone for ages but never got used to it,” Ephraim said with a slight chuckle. He knew that part of his love for attention came from fear—fear of reverting into that frozen beast that had starved and killed. He always wanted a voice in his ear to bring him to his senses, even if the chances of him turning into a monster were very slim—as long as no one touched his food, at least. He pushed these thoughts away and dipped his head.

“My name’s Ephraim. I’m curious; where are you from?” The quarter-dog tilted his head slightly. Her accent was French—that he recognized from the French-speaking areas of Canada he had traveled through. However, she could have crossed over to Nova Scotia in a boat from some other country. It was amazing to a simple canoe-builder what great ships luperci could salvage and build. He thought about visiting another land, once, before the dreams of the mountains came to him. His place was here, at least until the dreams guided him again.

He shook his thick pelt then began to walk in the direction the old she-wolf had begun to head in, pausing to look back at her and see if she wanted to follow—or lead, rather, since she might have had some idea of where to go. Staying and chatting would have been fine, too, but he hoped that they could shake off the brat that had been watching them.

The howls made his hackles rise, but he was wise enough to tell when the same canine was altering their voice. After all, he spoke in a foolish lilt when he wanted to disarm someone; he knew more than anyone what it was like to put on different masks. Other than bristling at the eerie echoes, however, he made no comment on the noise and hoped that the woman, Éloise, would ignore it as well. He would never personally turn a deaf ear to a puppy, but being ignored by an adult was one way to bore them. Judging by the mentality a trickster like this would have to have, treating them like a child might work.

She chuckled when he asked her where she was from. It was a common question and everyone she ran into here seemed so surprised that she spoke differently. "I am fhrom very far north. I sink ze humans used to call eet Quebec." the francophone still had such a thick accent, despite traveling around for several years. "My eeenglish es not as gewd as I voud like it." Eloise had stayed up north for what felt like an eternity after her sister left. The Aston family was small, but she had enjoyed the time there. But, like always, she had to leave to start her own life."Et vous? où êtes-vous partir?" Eloise had decided that this mans company was pleasant enough, and followed him as he started walking away from the troublemaker. El had no time to deal with such things anymore. She ignored the other howls; the chances of them actually being hurt for no reason were very slim. This city might be dangerous, but El knew no wolf could summon a pack on their own. While the other female did smell like a pack, it wasn't a strong enough smell to prove that the woman had been there very long.

The canine's reactions were disappointing to say the least. While the male seemed to know what she was doing, the female was careless. It felt like she couldn't comprehend danger. That took a lot of the fun out of it. She tried to think of another thing that she could do, but they had her well defeated. The only thing left was to give them a prize. They wouldn't be glad to see her, but they had outmatched the best she could do, so they deserved something for that. Changing back into optime form Terra climbed down from the roof. It had been useful for watching them, but it was rather barren. If she lost track of them Terra could always track their scent. Their prize would have to be found in the rubbish below. With her goal met Terra changed back into lupine form.

Cheerfully she stepped around the broken glass and bits of garbage. Terra's goal was much grander than a shiny piece. It was going to reflect the male's skills at avoidance, and apologize for her incomprehension of the female's weakness. Stepping into a store Terra nosed through. Both had been in lupine form, so a gift for an optime probably wouldn't be very good. They'd have trouble carrying it. With nothing found Terra moved on to the next store, only to find the same results. It was all rubbish, or something difficult to carry. The next store Terra hit the jackpot though. At some point it must have been a craft store. Necklaces and leather work was found throughout. A gift for each would be easy to find here. With care Terra pulled out a beautiful leather bag. It was small, just right for carrying around the neck. A faint pattern of a deer could be seen on it. For the wolf Terra pulled out a small pink bracelet, with flowers around it. It was perfect for showing the wolf's innocence.

With her gifts in hand(mouth really) Terra ran out the door. The canines were out of sight at this point. Desperate to catch up Terra ran forward, following their scent. Her paws beat at the pavement, a silent note that echoed slightly off the buildings. If Terra had been paying attention she might have noticed that it sounded like there was more than just her running towards them. When they came into view Terra grinned. Now all she needed them to do was stop. Here she faced a problem though. Her mouth was full, so she couldn't speak. Panting Terra tried to think of how to grab their attention. Finally she settled on a growl. It was the only way to make noise without dropping the presents.
