the proof is in the fire

Nella hadn't had any luck in the wolf packs. Each that she'd seen and spoken to didn't know Deuce. It was rather dispiriting, actually. But she kept going. As she wandered, she came across the human city of halifax. She'd never heard of it before, but figured it was worth taking a look-see. So here she was now, wandering. And wandering. And wandering some more. It was fascinating; as interesting as the human city of Dublin had been. She'd loved Dublin; she missed it now.

She missed home something fierce, really. But the Lightpaw Tribe was no more. They'd relocated to ireland to try and flourish, and had only furthered their dying. father had tried to tell them that, but they didn't listen to their Baird. And then it was too late, father had died, and mother just days behind. Which had left her to the stars and fickle lady fate. It was okay, she supposed. She didn't mind wandering, really. just as father had never minded wandering.

Taliesin was wandering, as he had been for the past couple of days, when he came across the city of Halifax; the city simply reeked of adventure! Or maybe, it just reeked, Tal wasn't sure. Either way he desperately wanted to explore! Something told him that there was someone to meet inside, though the city seemed rather abandoned, at least where he was. Maybe he was wrong, but he had found that on a few occasions on the trip out of Twilight Vale that he had a knack for these things. He had sensed he presence of a mouse at one point, and had even caught it, and at one point his gut told him not to go through the one grove; when he was up and almost over it along the rocky path to it's side he saw the bear that his gut had warned him to avoid. So he was fairly sure that he would be right, or at least he hoped so.

Still he wondered why he had these messages, where are they from, will they always be right, should he keep listening? It was puzzling, but what could the pup do? He would ask mum if her found her... it bothered Taliesin that he STILL hadn't found Deuce, he missed his mum, and knew that surely she was around somewhere. Maybe she was the one he would fin here! The thought excited Tal so he started off at a trot, his tail eagerly wagging. "Hewwooo?" he called hoping his mum was nearby, near enough to hear him. "Mum? Muma?" he cried loudly not at all thinking of the potential danger; the adventurous youth rarely, if ever, thought of the danger.

A young voice caught her attention, and she stopped, starlted. What was a pup doing here? And moreso, where was his mother? Evidentally he didn't know either. The dark woman began moving towards him, her skirt held above the minor debris that laid here and there. She let it go, moving closer to the boy, her talisman glittering in the sunlight. Her bi-colored eyes watching him curiously as she stopped, waiting for him to decidewhether she was friend or foe.
Hallo there, little laddie. her voice was soft, the Irish accent tinging every syllable with warmth. An who might ye be? Myself is Nella. She knelt down to be more at his level.

Excited to find somebody new his tail and head perked right up; the warmth of the woman's voice made him feel safe so he didn't think a thing of telling her who he was. With his proudest voice he declared himself to be "Ta'iesin Daer Rh'annon." He was so very proud of his name, so very proud!
"You know where we ahr?" he asked a little more timidly. Since he had been separated fro Siri he had been more insecure than normal, and wanted companionship. Normally he was fine without others, but he had never REALLY been alone, one of his brothers or some such was never far. He now wondered if he would ever find his mum, at least he could be happy with her... Where could she be?

[i] "Ta'iesin Daer Rh'annon." Nella blinked, staring at the boy pup. Taliesin. Dir. Rhiannon. She repeated the syllables slowly, tasting them in her mouth. Could it be? Taliesin, is your mother's name Deuce? Her tail wagged broadly as she stood still, waiting for the answer. Was he her sisters son, and thus her nephew?

And then he asked if she knew where they were. We're in the human city halifax, she responded. All the humans have been gone a long time ago.

"You know muma?" he asked excitedly. He had indeed found the right person after all! How exciting to be in this situation; in a city, with a new person who knew his mum! Now he could find her, and live with her just like he wanted to. The idea pleased him very much, but at the same time, it couldn't override his natural curiosity; hence the question, inevitable in nature, came forth. "What's a human?" he pondered aloud, though not intentionally.
"I'm yer mum's sister. We had the same father, who had the same name as you. Taliesin Dir." She grinned at the boys youthful exuberance, feeling more relaxed. "Humans stood on two legs, like I am now, but they were usually smaller, and the only fur they had was on the top of their heads. They all died a long time ago because they got sick." Didn't Deuce read to him? What was she teaching the boy? "Taliesin, do you know where your mother is?"
"OH!" he yipped with enthusiasm, "how 'ctin'!" He had heard about his grandah, but not this! The human information clicked in his mind as she said it and he realized that he DID know what a human was, he had just never known their names before, which was now a source of mild embarrassment. However, the pup rapidly forgot about it and was on to the new topic, as though a squirrel who was going after one nut saw another and forgot the first; thus he replied "I dunno, she ran 'way, so I wanna fin' her!" It was, after all, a perfectly reasonable thing to want -finding his mum- and in his mind chasing her was perfectly reasonable as well. Danger was, still, a somewhat foreign concept to the pup, and the thought that he might get in trouble by himself never occurred to him at all.
She had no problem understanding the boy as he traveled from one subject to the next. She ran away? Why would yer ma run away, Taliesin?" It made no sense to the dark woman. What kind of mother would run away from her children, away from her pack? What would make any mother leave her pups behind? Nella puzzled over this for a while, letting ideas and options run through her mind.
Talisein looked down, portraying the sadness of the event as he described how his mum had become disliked by the pack and by his dah. It really was quite disheartening, and though the pup knew less than half of it, most any listener could tell that the even was quite tragic, and very stressful to the pup. He never much liked dah, that was Noah's job, but he still didn't want to not have a family. He wasn't that close to any of them, but having them there was nice... he had found himself rather lonely after having been separated from Siri. He shuddered as he recalled the storm that had separated them; he had never seen the ilk! But quickly he banished it from his bubbly mind and got back the business at hand. Though, admitedly, he had sort of forgotten what that was exactly.
