Oh man, finally got the thread up. x__x So dating this for like, the 11th is okay with you? o: wc:302

Jackson had left the winding caverns early that morning with the intention to do a little hunting, and he was coming back that afternoon empty-handed. It wasn’t for lack of trying, oh no. The boy had done well to track a small herd and pick out a frail-looking deer focus on. He had been spotted preemptively, however, and that had dashed any hope using the element of surpise to give him the advantage while hunting alone. He’d later stumbled upon a line of pheasants scuttling about, but even those proved to be too quick for him today. He was off his game it seemed.

He made his way through one of the large and often used entrances to the communal caverns, making his way through what had served as their stables before the actual barn was constructed outside and made a quick left into the winding tunnels that led to the individual dens. Maybe he could stop by Panda’s den and see if she was around. They could do a little mediation together, see if it would help him get out of this funk he seemed to be in. As he approached the cave, he heard the sound of a voice and took it as a sign that Panda was indeed in. He made his way into the den’s entrance and spoke, voice low, Hey Panda, whatcha— The words were cut off when he realized that it wasn’t Panda there in the cave, nor that guy that she lived with.

No, this was a female, one who seemed to have dog blood like he did. She was presumably a friend of the monochrome female’s as well, though Jackson had never seen her before. Oh, shit. Uh, sorry man. Didn’t mean to interrupt or anythin’… What was she doing in here anyway?

Panda and Venom had left her in the wake of their whirlwind of aura that seemingly never stopped spinning. Being around the two young and in love wolves was both energizing and draining. But now there was silence, the tall collie Shaman was alone and at peace. She sat silently on the makeshift bed Panda had so kindly set up for her and was working on a gift for Panda’s upcoming birth. Zera’im owned a cacophony of stones and at the moment she was working on polishing a large, pink quartz sphere that she had had in her possession for quite some time. Zera knew Panda’s favorite stone was rose quartz and so Zera’im figured it would be the perfect gift, especially since the pup to be born was a female, though Zera’im would not let Panda know she had this knowledge.

Zera’im began to sing quietly to herself as she polished the stone with a swatch of leather; the surface of it was already smooth but now she was just trying to get the minor scratches to let way to a magnificent shine. She didn’t notice the approach of someone else, up until now no one had bothered her and Panda and Venom had always made sure no one knew she was here. So when the door was pushed open and the face of a young shepherd popped in Zera was quite surprised and she nearly dropped the stone. She stared wide-eyed at the young male, mismatching spheres looking him over. It had been so long since she had seen another dog that for a moment she thought she was seeing a ghost.

She calmed quickly as the boy spoke, and smiled gently, Panda is out. Please, come in if you wish. She gestured welcomingly, hoping that perhaps she could make it seem as if she was meant to be here and not a trespasser as she still technically was, besides it would be nice to converse with a new face, she had been cooped up in this room for nearly a month now. I am Zera’im she offered her name.

It had felt like ages since Jackson had really been able to spend a little time with Panda. He saw her around the pack sometimes, sure, but they weren’t able to really sit down and chat like he wanted. He’d been busy with his tasks, and she with her pregnancy. Perhaps it shouldn’t have been a surprise that they hadn’t really seen each other for a while, then. Busy schedules had a tendency to keep people apart. He was a bit surprised at how disappointed he was to find that Panda wasn’t in right now. Maybe he’d just really wanted a familiar face to talk to. Being cooped up with only Agony for company now that both Esmeralda and Ravesque had run off wasn’t doing him any good. The siblings got on each other’s nerves too much to stick around each other for long, but being so isolated from his family was beginning to take its toll on him.

But hey, this woman seemed nice enough to him. She invited him in with an easy offer, and he obliged, slipping inside a little awkwardly. He didn’t know how he felt about being there with the black and white-furred woman gone, but the stranger seemed to be at home here. Perhaps she was keeping an eye on things while Panda and her friend were out? He supposed it didn’t really matter, in the end. He offered the woman a smile as she introduced herself, before giving his own name in turn. Jackson. I’m Jackson. Nice to meet ya.

The boy glanced around the cavernous den for a moment then, taking in the sights around him. He’d never been in Panda’s den before, he realized. He turned his cerulean gaze back toward Zera’im. So, uh. Guess you’re a friend of Panda’s, huh? he asked, slipping his hands in the pockets of his shorts.

The young boy entered, though tentatively, which caused Zera’im to smile that more deeply. It was good to see a youth with some manners and respect of anothers living space, but Zera’im had every right to invite someone in, after all, she lived here now too. The place was cozy, though sometimes a little bit crowded when the three of them were here. And sometimes Panda and Venom would be trysting loudly in the other room, which didn’t make Zera’im uncomfortable, for their love was full of youthful energy, but it made her recognize her own celibacy that much more.

The young boy introduced himself as Jackson, Pleasure to meet you Jackson. The collie woman said. She could see that his aura was green and full of life, and her tail wagged slightly. He then asked if she was a friend of Panda’s and Zera’im stopped polishing the stone and set it on a nearby table, Yes, I am a friend and I am also acting as her mid-wife. This was what Panda and her had discussed she say in case anyone asked why she was here and not an official member of the pack. Zera’im was still not sure if Panda had spoken to Naniko about her stay here, so she was still somewhat cautious about it. But being Panda’s midwife was the truth, and it was best for the expecting mother and she be close to her.

Zera’im shifted slightly, her hips aching from sitting in one place for too long, and she gave young Jackson another smile, Is there a reason you came to see Panda? If you need anything perhaps I can help. She reached into her old leather bag which also sat on the nearby table and pulled out a small cloth bag that was tied with a string, I could throw bones for you if you’d like. She figured she’d ask, because doing this always seemed to break the ice between new friends.

Jackson didn’t often visit anyone around the pack, now that he thought about it. He stuck close to his family and did his best to avoid Naniko and hers. There were only a handful of other canines in the pack that the hybrid boy felt comfortable enough to visit, but that number seemed to be growing smaller now with the abrupt departure of Camilla. It was a nice change of pace to be here, he decided, even if Panda wasn’t around. He got to meet someone new, after all, and this Zera’im seemed to be a pretty nice lady so far.

Nice to meetcha, too, he replied in turn, an honest smile touching his lips. He watched as she set aside the stone she had been working on, cerulean gaze lingering on it for only a moment before his attention returned to the woman. She confirmed that she was indeed a friend of Panda’s, which honestly made perfect sense. She seemed perfectly at home here, so he wasn’t sure exactly what he’d been expecting when he’d asked that. The mention that she was her mid-wife was a surprise, however. Ahh, I see. Guess those puppies could be coming any time now, huh? Jackson knew almost nothing about pregnancy and birth, and he wasn’t exactly eager to change that.

Why had he come here, indeed? The boy shrugged slightly, considering it. Well, I guess I just came over for a little chat. Thought maybe we could meditate or somethin’, since she showed me how when I was a kid. He watched as the woman reached forward to pull out a small bag and he eyed it with interest. She offered to throw bones, whatever that meant, but it sounded interesting to the youth. Uh, sure, he said, stepping closer to where she sat. Not sure what that means, but it sounds cool. The beginnings of an embarrassed smile touched his lips.

Zera’im brightened as he mentioned that Panda had taught him some meditation techniques when he was younger; it was good to see the Shaman in training sharing her knowledge with others, it was something that Zera could really relate to. His interest seemed peaked when Zera’im retrieved her bones and he agreed to let her throw them for him, even though he didn’t know what it meant. The older woman smiled playfully, It’s a way for me to give you a fortune of sorts, or to see a little in your future She deepened her voice mysteriously. Throwing bones she had learned over the years was somewhat of a trick more than anything, though its practice was rooted in Voodoo; however it was not something to live by, and her beliefs were much more holistic in nature. Either way though, it was something fun and interesting to do, and helped some to know themselves better.

Zera’im knelt to the dirt floor and quickly drew a rough circle there, she beckoned Jackson to kneel as well, The bones are meant to reveal something to you; the future, the past, something lost… you however must ask a question. She waved her palm above the circle, And ask well, the better the question, the clearer the answer. She smiled again and began to shake the bag, its contents rattling inside.
