Where people spoke as if dancing

Word Count → 286 :: For Ahiga!

Sophie had moved farther south than she'd intended on today's adventure, searching for more of the strange creatures that Mordecai had introduced her to. At least, that was her excuse for poking her head under bushes and sniffing mushrooms, and generally exploring the area. Really, she had a much different motive; she was looking for humans. Their remains, at least, like that run-down den she and her new-found friend had seen. The two reasons for her adventure might have been connected, considering she'd also found all those things--the frozen elves, she remembered--there, too, but her fascination was rather evenly divided between the two new interests.

Sophie thought people would approve much less of humans, though, so that was the one she kept to herself.

Sticking her head curiously into an old hollowed-out tree that lay across her path, Sophie padded into the log and looked about. There were cracks in the top, letting in a bit of light before her, and she watched the dust dance a bit in the golden glow before she stepped a few feet more into the odd thing. She'd never seen a hollow tree before; but Mordecai had said something about elves and fairies living in trees...maybe this was the sort of thing they lived in!

Stepping back the way she'd come hesitantly, Sophie pressed her ears back and called, hesitantly, "Little elf...? Sophie sorry...Didn' mean intrude!" She stepped back a bit more, hesitantly, and ducked her head, looking about uncertainly. It didn't seem like a very nice home; she wondered if it it changed when little puppies weren't around to spy. Elves could disguise themselves, right? Maybe they could disguise other things, too.

Word Count :: 583 Sorry for being slow, hetic start to the new year @.@

Steadying his arms he cautiously aimed, aligning the wooden spear with the rabbit that say before him obliviously munching on the foliage of a nearby bush, Buck remained still and silent, already used to the young Nishant hunting from his back, the horse knew the drill for the pair had been through the motions of hunting together enough times now. Easing his arms back he relaxed his muscles and double checked his aim once more, the corner of his mouth titling up to reveal teeth when once again he confirmed his aim was seemingly good enough. Pulling his arm back further, the red cardinal feathers hanging from the spear swayed slightly with the motion, he breathed a slow steadying breath and then flung the weapon forward, snatching up Bucks reigns and speeding the horse over towards where he hoped lay a dead or dying rabbit.

With an surprising amount of grave the horse and rider weaved through the maze of English oaks and black and white ash trees, Bucks hooves pounding upon the dirt ground the only sound the young lad paid attention to, the strike of the stallions hooves was both repeatability and soothing, bringing him down from the hunters high. As the spears end came into view the young hunter jumped from his steeds back, landing slightly and running a few strides to regain his balance before he stuck a hand in his leather bag and pulled out a small bone dagger. Treading carefully he approached the spear, green eyes flashing down to the small unmoving bundle which had his spear protruding from it. Dropping the knife he threw his arms up into the air “Yes! Get in there, bunny didn't stand a chance” he shouted and ran over to Buck, throwing his arms around the thoroughbreds neck and giving the horse a spontaneous hug before returning to the rabbit, snatching up his knife he stabbed it to make sure it was most definitely dead and then pulled his spear free, picking up the dead rabbit and padding over to where Buck had now stood.

Standing beside the buckskin stallion, he grabbed on of the straps from the horses saddle and strung the rabbit to it; the only one he had successfully caught so far that day. For some reason he hadn't seen much small prey about, although he knew winter meant scarce prey it infuriated how little there was that he could find; and those that he did stumble across he usually epically missed. Even his traps hadn’t caught much the last few days and the young hunter was growing quickly bored with his lack of success. Eyeing the rabbit up he calculated how long it would take to skin the corpse and allocated enough time in his 'schedule' for the day to make sure he sorted that out. Next he strapped his spear to the back of Buck's saddle, leather rings holding it securely until he require it. Satisfied that everything was in place he wiped the small dagger off on the dirt and dumped it in his bad and mounted the stallion, picking up the horse's reigns and applying a small amount of pressure with his legs for buck to move.

Leisurely the pair traipsed through the thick maze of trees, pausing only when a soft female voice reached his ears. Pulling upon Bucks reigns the stallion came to a halt and Ahiga jumped down from the saddle, looking around to locate the owner of the voice. “Hello?”

Word Count → 296 :: No worries! I'm sorry about the wait, myself. ^^;

There was a long moment of nothing, and then a voice echoed to her as though from somewhere far away, though in reality it was simply the sound being muffled by the thick walls of the log she was in. She padded forward a few more steps eagerly, her tail wagging. " 'Lo! You a elf?" She asked, and bounded forward more, sticking her head in hidden hollows in the tree and sniffing curiously. The dusty insides, combined with the slowly decomposing wood, made for a damp, thick smell, one that tickled her nose and made her pause in her adventuring.

She stopped quite suddenly, and lifted a paw to rub at her pink-speckled nose, crossing her eyes and wiggling furiously to stop the oncoming sneeze. It didn't help, though, and soon enough a quiet, "choo!" betrayed her location. She sniffled, and rubbed her nose with the back of her paw again, before dashing forward, finding a part of the log that had collapsed and made a sort of ramp up toward the top. She padded carefully up the little walkway, and poked her head carefully out of the opening it'd left, soon followed by her shoulders. Luckily enough she was small and light enough that the log only creaked beneath her tiny feet, and she padded up onto the top, looking around curiously in search of the elf who'd spoken to her.

She found instead a large white wolf, standing on his hind legs like Leon sometimes did, with strange markings on his underside. She wrinkled her nose as she looked at him, taking in the odd animal he rode and the weapons he carried. "You dun look like no elf." She declared, and then added more softly to herself, "You look like a troll."
