Alright guys! Everyone needs to reply here, first gathering of New Dawn! Yay! Let Nuki reply first, then others. Big Grin Setting is mid day. | WC :: +365

It had been an easy journey from Ichika no Ho-en to New Dawn territory, and the pride of their interaction with the Ichika leadership was ripe in both Zalen and Titania’s heart. The two wolves, joined nearly as one as they moved over the cold ground. The sun was out, its rays shining golden light down upon them. Zalen looked over at his mate, excitement and joy shining in his eyes like emeralds, and her golden ones mirrored it. Zalen began to bound, prancing over the earth like a dance; finally they were free! Finally they could be wild!

As they neared the borders of New Dawn, of their territory, the scents of his new pack met the sable male’s nostrils. They were his family now, and though he did not know some of them very well yet he knew that he soon would. The males would be like his brothers and the females like his sisters. He could already feel the weight of leadership fall upon him, but it was a burden that did not warrant stress but filled the new alpha with pride. He was proud of all them, for taking a chance on him, for leaving behind they foolish ways of the other packs and becoming what they were born to be.

Soon the two alpha wolves bounded across the threshold, and Zalen lifted his maw into the chilly air, letting forth a triumphant and resounding call for the rest of the pack. Titania soon joined in, their voices carrying in the wind like a beautiful harmony. They were calling their brethren to them the first time that they all would be together as one. It prospect of seeing his new family gathered around him for the first time spurned Zalen’s paws to fall even faster.

Soon they arrived at the den, the small entrance of which did not give away the immensity of the cavern within. Zalen and Titania positioned themselves at the summit of a small mound near the entrance, knowing that some members might be inside, and other nearby. They waited, panting, and Zalen leaned over to nudge his young mate, "I love you." was all he could say.

The rhythm of their paws became a part of the day as the drummers raced over the landscape. They had bid farewell to their new friends in Ichika no Ho-en and set out west, eagerly headed back to the land they had claimed... the land that was now New Dawn's claim. Silvery fur rippled down the young wolfess's back as she raced next to the shadowy form of her mate, her pink tongue lolled out of her mouth with heavy pants. She was like a steam engine, each breath leaving a puff in its wake in the chilly afternoon air. No matter how fast nor how long they kept up this chase – their final chase whose trophy was their dream – the girl did not tire. Her golden eyes glanced to see the determination in her mate's olive green orbs, and she knew he felt the same. They no longer lived on a strength that was just their own anymore. Now the two wolves were fed by the innate power of Pack.

Her eyes only brightened more when the lands began to smell of their musk and she knew that they had crossed over their borders... their borders! Everyone would be waiting for their return; or if they were not already there, then they would be racing towards New Dawn as quickly as the night and day couple themselves did. Zalen's howl rang out then and Titania barely had to even take a breath before she let her own soft tones sing out to compliment his. They no longer howled for the moon to abate their loneliness, they were pack wolves once more!

Mismatched paws bounced dexterously over the changing terrain of New Dawn. Not even the brief moment when the two had to cross the old Highway 104 that was one of the last human remains in these lands did she slow. Instead, she soared over the crumbling concrete as though it was not a scar upon their lands, but just another part of their domain. They breached the forest, and soon she could see the same den before them that she and Zalen had spent their first night in.

She danced to a stop, skipping to slow all four paws at the same speed. Her tail lashed high in the air with the exhilaration of the moment. She walked a small circle around Zalen as if releasing the last of her energy, and then her paws became still at his side. She nuzzled her mate tenderly, licked his cheek, and returned, “I love you.”

Her eyes turned to peer into the cave. Had everyone made it? Were they all here now? Well if not, certainly they would come. She knew of them all, though only the seed had been sewn thus far. Soon the intricate roots would take hold, to sprout a deep pack bond between them all.

“Almost an entire moon's turn in the making, but we did it,” she said to Zalen, every word stitched with pride. Her eyes turned to see the first of her pack to emerge. “We all did it.”

She had shifted to her secui form for the trek to the new pack. Only thing she had carried with her had been her pack with some of her dried herbs and the like. She had left the rest in the room in Crimson dreams, except the dried sage she had sent with Taliesin. She felt some guilt over leaving Crimson Dreams, but her place was with her mate, Soran, where ever that road might lead. They had been apart far too long for a new pack to come between them.

The howls came to her ears, which perked up. She wanted to meet her new leaders, so she made her way to the area where the howls had come from. It took some time for her to navigate the unfamiliar lands, but she soon found the place she needed to be. She approached slowly, her secui form making plenty of noise as she walked. Truth be told, she wasn't trying to muffle her approach. She remembered the tension of being a new pack, a new family. She didn't want to surprise her new leaders.

She licked her lips as she approached, her tail laying low in a submissive position, her ears back enough to convey her submission to the leaders. She was an older wolf, a former leader herself. She stopped several feet away and laid down to make herself smaller. She wouldn't shift in front of them, the only one she was comfortable shifting around was her mate Soran, who had been there for her very first shift.

Her mis-matched eyes were on the leaders paws, which she studied with no small amount of curiosity. This was the first time she had met either leader, and while Soran had spoken highly of them, Deuce was still that little bit wary which came with meeting new wolves for the first time. Still looking at the leader's paws, she spoke softly. "Greetings, my alphas. I am Deuce Rhiannon, mate to Soran." Her voice was soft and velvety. She craned her head so the pack rested in front of her, nudging it towards them with her nose. "I was a medic for many of the packs I was a part of. I hope to offer you the same services in New Dawn."

OOC -- Word Count → 541

He had been one of the first to greet the sun this morning, far too eager for the day to begin. It had been a fitful sleep, but one full of anticipation. His eyes were anxious to greet the faces of his new family. They darted around expectant and hungry. The night before he’d taken to the communal den, to allow the scent of his brothers and sisters to sink into his fur, and rid him of the stench of the Court. It was fading now, never truly embedding itself among his pelt. It was as if the particles knew from the very beginning that he did not belong and did not wish to cling to a false hope. The scent itself was like a perfume -a flowery lack of substance, while the scent of his new home was a strong musk vibrant and alive. Yes, this…this was home.

Having returned from marking the border He trotted over and reclined to his haunches at the dens entrance; a prime choice of seating, allowing him to see the comings and goings. His paws shuffled anxiously, tail coiling around his large white paws only to unfurl again and twitch with anticipation. His muzzle drifted upwards to check the scents about him and he swiftly gained all four paws when the slightest whisper of Zalen’s scent reached him. With his head suddenly low he looked out upon the horizon, eyes searching for a glimpse of black. Finally it came, he came, and he was not alone. He gazed upon the Alphess for the first time, memorizing her features as he had Zalen’s. His body lowered further, his tail the slightest touch on the back of his leg. His charcoal touched ears lowered to his skull. He brought himself to a position below them.

When another came into them his head turned. He could almost see the mark of experience upon her. Upon closer inspection he felt a pang of empathy for her, she had scars of her own. His own were more apparent now with his head turned. He said nothing to the white female, allowing her to introduce herself and her skills to the alphas. They had all the time in the world to get acquainted with one another, and form the bonds that no one would be able to sever.

“Alpha.” He acknowledged, after the white female had spoken, and for once his voice was smooth, not muttered huskily under his breath, but confident and filled with notes of joy. His green flecked gaze did not stray to theirs, but was held upon their middle to lower frames. “Alphess…” He started, speaking to her directly. Zalen he had met once before, but Titania he had yet to introduce himself. “I am Augustus.” To the both of them he then said. “I am forever yours, ask anything of me and it will be done.” He had confidence that they would prove themselves to be figures worthy of his respect and trust. He swelled with pride hearing his Alphess’s words. For the moments that followed he was quiet and respectful allowing all the others to take their turns. His heart was light and he was filled with hope. It was a New Dawn indeed.

He had been surprised at how quickly the ways of his old pack had flowed back into his blood. Perhaps they had never fully left but in the end he would never know. His very veins sang with the song that filled the air as for the first time the alphas had joined voices, their song dipping and calling, weaving a story for the pack to tell. His body raised up strong and proud as he moved like a herald across the lands, his own soft song carrying in the winds, announcing that he was on his way, a soft flitting song to the strong cords the alphas had carried.

His massive frame had pounded away the earth from the edge of the pack territories to the heart of their domain where the alphas had gathered. His heart sang at being part of this new foundation, bringing the true way of the wolves back into the cycle of things. His heart pounded as he slowly approached, his tail low and curled between his legs, his body close to the ground and his throat bared as he followed behind the woman who's scent sang of Sorans. His mind naturally told him this had to be the Beta's mate and he kept quiet as he watched and listened to her pay homage to their lord and lady.

His gold shot sapphire eyes turned up to the lovely pair as she finished. They had not yet addressed her and there was little he could do to address himself until they had decided to accept her submission and gifts. He closed his eyes, a soft whine rising from his throat as he felt his frame shift underneath him, naturally going into a deeper pose of submission as his heart pounded and his soul soared. This was home at least.

Like a few others, the boy could not rest. The adventurer’s paws lacked any motivation to slow in their pacing, and it was not until the moon was at its peak in the sky before he dared lay his head down. It took to the Den the night before, while the rest was spent exploring the territory, for he had arrived a mere few days ago. While he enjoyed sleeping in the out in the air, Mordecai had to admit that sleeping with his fellow others, he felt like he was back home with his family. In fact, this was now his new family and his new home, more or less. Maybe even greater than his old one.

When morning came, he awoke with more energy than before. Others must have been just as excited as he was, for he noticed that a few other wolves were missing; out exploring the new territory, perhaps, or running to relieve their anxious feelings. Mordecai did both as he galloped out of the Den, only to return about an hour later. He wanted to be there when Zalen came, the male who started all of this. He was proud to be able to say he was a member the pack with the admirable wolf as his leader, and the other honorable comrades that followed his lead.

Finally, he heard Zalen’s howl, joined by another, feminine one. That must have been the Alphess, he thought. He scented her around the territory, but not met her face to face yet, though he was eager to. He was eager to meet all of his new friends, his brothers, his sisters, and his family. The boy bowed to his leaders as the approached, his tail hitting against his leg as he wagged it from pure joy. He looked up at the two, and was shocked by the Alphess’ beauty. The girl must have been younger than he, but he felt no different in his submission and his loyalty to her. If Zalen choose this mystical, silver she as his mate, then it was destiny who made this girl his leader.

He slowly walked towards his alphas, keeping to the lowered posture as he did. “Salutations, Alpha and Alphess,” he spoke carefully, his words filled with joy, though he tried to sound formal, “I, Mordecai de Fonte, am honored to serve under you. I shall give to New Dawn everything I have and receive, for it is now a part of me.” He glanced around his fellows, and somehow knew that he spoke their thoughts, and they speaking his. Despite barely knowing any of these wolves, he already felt like he would die for any of them. He knew that this was his family, forevermore, as he backed away from the pair to take his place among his kin.

Believing without seeing.

Sorry for the wait on my reply, I had had the laptop kidnapped by the little brother XD I am so, so excited to see this up and running!!! Arrrrrrgh!!! Big Grin

The sable female had been exploring all day, she could not help it, the sights and smells of a new place were too much of a lure to her at a normal time, let alone when the place was to become her new home. So far she was enjoying being in these new pack lands, though leaving Crimson Dreams had been a sadness that she would not soon forget; her daughters had been understanding, both the blood girls and her adoptive one, and Anu had been more than kindly when she had spoken of needing to move on, but still, the place had been her home for so long and she knew that she would always miss it from time to time, as she still missed Syemv despite the fact that it was destroyed so many years ago. The sable female had finally finished her journey late in the afternoon yesterday, she had come in her Optime form to carry her bag, there were a few very small things that she would never give up no matter what, things that would have to be prised from the cold claws of her corpse, she had brought them here and hidden them carefully within the den; they were nothing offensive, she knew that Zalen shared her love and reading and writing, she was sure that the books would not be too upsetting to her new ebony Alpha. The dark female had been padding around the borders of the lands all day, marking the territory where the scent was beginning to fade but generally relishing in the feeling of being here; this was her new home, here she had the chance to make a difference, Zalen had asked her to come here as she was his mentor and could help him, the fact that he needed her advice had swayed her choice to come here and be the Beta wolf and she could not say that she was not glad of her decision, this was going to be a wonderful pack and indeed her home.

These thoughts were interrupted by a call from Zalen and Titania, the ebony Beta's heart skipped a little as she remembered Zalen's words to her, he had said that he considered her a mother and she had to confess that she felt the same for him, she was already beginning to see the young pale Alphess as a daughter in law as well; it seemed that her new leaders were calling their new family to them. The dark female raised her head and let out a short call in reply, letting them know that she had heard them and that she was on her way, she would be with them soon; unfortunately her injured leg was still healing and although her limp was now far less prominent it was still present, she knew that it would slow her down on her approach to the meeting place. Still the dark lady set out at the fastest pace she could, all four paws bouncing against the ground as she raced along, her leg was aching but the excitement she felt was quashing that feeling, she felt that she could run for miles. When she finally arrived she discovered that many of her new pack mates were already at the meeting place, she trotted in in a dominant stance, walking past the two silver and the single sable male subordinates, giving them welcoming glances as she did so. As she reached Deuce she paused, bending her dark head and licking at her maw affectionately, she knew how nervous her mate could get when meeting a new pack, especially as she had once been an Alphess herself, Soran just hoped that she pale female would be able to submit. As she approached the Alpha pair she dropped into a submissive stance, giving a small bow to them.
"My lady and lord, it seems that we have succeeded in our plans, what a happy occasion." The dark matriarch said to her adoptive children and very real leaders. The Beta then turned and looked out at the subordinates, her stance shifting automatically to a far more dominant one, less so than Zalen or Titania, but still more dominant than the others.
"It is wonderful to see you all here, for those who do not know I am Soran Aatte and I am your Beta wolf." The scarred lady said, looking them all over with a careful eye, she hoped that they liked hunting, as soon as her leg was healed she intended to lead some hunting parties herself.

Already, this was more of a home than Cour des Miracles had ever been.

Shandom, of course, found it slightly bizarre to be in such a subordinate position. When he was in the Southern pack, dominance was never strictly enforced - in fact, the cloudy male could not recall a time when a wolf that outranked him (and there were certainly many) made that fact obvious. While it struck the scarred male strange at the time, he'd adjusted to it without complaint. The male assumed it was mostly because he was a recluse within the pack; perhaps if he were more involved, or made an effort to meet the leadership - was there a leadership? - such hierarchy would have been more pronounced. But here, in New Dawn, as this pack was called, Shandom found that natural dominance and submission was to be expected. He of course complied without any breath of a complaint; he knew the position Zalen and Titania were in. Helen, the Omega before her daughter Aylienne, was killed by Gyek for insubordination; then again, Etienne was an extreme pack. Death as punishment was not an uncommon thing; Shandom knew that, had he not escaped quickly as he did, he would have been brutally murdered in return for his own crimes.

Part of him knew he should speak to Zalen about his past. Such a dark and bloody background was something that would have worried him while he was an Alpha; however, he did not know if the shadowy male would appreciate the same courtesy. Some demons were best left undisturbed, as he believed his might be. The killing of children, and then the killing of parents, was not a small transgression in any circles. But revealing his secrets might give him a different air than he wanted to possess. While the throne of leadership might not be his to claim any more, and he would certainly never try again, the white man had no desire to remain at the bottom of any pecking order. Shandom would rise through the ranks, hopefully, as he understood the ways of the wolf better than the hume ones he was expected to adopt in Cour des Miracles. Sewing, agriculture - none of those things be fit him. But he was a more than adequate Guardian and Warrior - though in battle he might be better suited to strategy, if only due to rust and a hesitance to draw unnecessary blood. He did not quite understand the rankings of this new pack, and perhaps sometime soon he would pull aside the Alphas and request further explanation of how they expected the pack to work.

In addition to the adjustment of subordination, Shandom also found it endlessly... strange that the Alphess was so young. Her youth was evident in her physical structure, though she held herself with grace and maturity; still, the man had to wonder what drew Zalen to her at such a young age. He didn't hold any less respect for her - she certainly had a commanding presence, and he understood leadership was something that came intuitively to her - but still. A pack so small could easily face combat early on, and he wondered if she were prepared to join the fray. But though he had only met her once, Shandom felt slightly protective of the young Alphess - something in her eyes reminded him of what Zeneca had been like as a child. Perhaps it was just the coloring (though Titania's was mottled with a reddish hue), or perhaps it was the simple fact that she was a female; regardless, he could not help but want to help keep a watchful eye on the young woman as she developed. Certainly, an Alphess could not be an Alphess if she were killed by some marauding group of insurgents, as he'd decided happened to his dear mother, Xydia.

Shandom was acquainting himself with the land when he heard the call, and he was lucky he did. The male was at the far reaches of the new Northern land, enjoying unfamiliar scenery and generally getting used to his new home. Immediately he took off, four paws beating the earth like a drum. It was such a wonderful, amazing thing to live in a place where all four paws were not only accepted, but expected! He had not shifted into his Optime form since he arrived in New Dawn, reluctant to break the mystique of the new, untamed land. Even the strange, black, still river-like-thing that was called a 'road' appeared to be taken over by the elements; in the portions he explored in depth, deep cracks and crevasses gave way to the growth of plant life, though it was not lush during this frigid winter season. Shandom didn't mind, however. His thick, white pelt was designed for such conditions, and he, in truth, felt more alive when the days grew colder. Many wolves were not like that - some were from more Southern climates, and found the springtime favorable, and he did not begrudge them their complaints of winter. Still, he didn't understand. How could they not enjoy the electricity in the frigid air and the slowness of prey? It made a wolf feel like a wolf - alive, natural, and wild. The strange ones of his former home could not be enjoying it in the same way as he. They were probably bundled in their strange furs and cloths, hiding in their human wasteland.

By the time he arrived at the den, Shandom noted that most - if not all, he was unfamiliar with most of the pack members - were there. Slightly embarrassed, the man slowed his gait to a walk and first approached the Alphas. They made a striking pair - black and white, young and mature. Still, he could not help but be grateful to them for their leadership and courage to create this pack. He sank down into a crouch, glued his ears to his head, and tucked his tail underneath himself when he reached them, and the older woman beside them - Soran, apparently, as he'd heard while he was still arriving. Alpha, Alphess, he murmured, eyes not so foolish as to make contact with theirs yet - that would be construed as utmost disrespect, at least in Etienne. I am glad to see you both healthy and well, and I apologize for my lateness. Shandom then turned to the Betess, and spoke to her as well. It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Shandom Nightslayer. With that, he turned into the small crowd of pack mates, peering around discreetly so as to discern who was who. Shandom would have loved to make introductions then and there, but the Alphas had not called this pack meeting simply to chat, surely. He would make his introductions later. Still submissive, the male sat low, eyes trained on the Alpha pair and eager to hear what they had to say. Later, perhaps, he would meet with them to discuss what services he could provide.

Zalen Damaichu
OOC :: Alright, after Soran and Titania post then posting order is open. | WC :: +822

The Alpha shared a brief yet affectionate moment with his mate when she returned his statement of love. Every time he looked upon her youthful face he could not help but be filled with feeling of youth himself. It was one of the reasons he had chosen her, for he knew that picking someone so young might be seen as strange and offensive. But she had a strong lineage, her giant of a father having been a leader before her, and she was ripe with a rare strength and potential that just needed to be harnessed. The black male afforded her one more nuzzle before the first of their pack arrived.

He did not recognize the older female in secui that came towards them, but he did know the scent of her. This must surely be Soran’s partner, for the scent of Crimson Dreams still clung to her fur as well as the smell of the Beta. She was graceful and genuflected sincerely before them as she introduced herself and offered unto them her skills. She set before them a pack which Zalen bent down to sniff at, his nostrils filling with the odor of various herbs and he nodded before rubbing the side of his snout against hers greeting, "Well met Deuce, we appreciate your skill." He gave her a smile.

Then the deluge came and members began to appear from every crack and crevice it seemed. They gathered quickly, each one greeting the Alpha’s with perfect submission and respect. Zalen trotted out amongst them, head held high and ridged tail wagging. He greeted them all in turn, bumping noses, nuzzling and mouthing. This was his family now and there was no need to be bashful. Soran arrived as well and he made sure to go to his Beta and give her a special greeting, a long necking hug. And finally, Shandom arrived apologizing for his lateness but Zalen was too overjoyed to mind, and he wrapped his jaws over the snout of the ivory scarred male in a forgiving gesture before returning to the apex of the mound.

He looked over them, all looking at him expectantly. His chest filled with unabashed pride; he finally had achieved his purpose in life it seemed, and it was the greatest feeling he had ever experienced. He relished this for a moment more before speaking, "My friends I cannot express to you how honored I am to have you be by my side. For too long have we succumbed to the foolishness of the Luperci ways. In the distant past we were only defined by our natures, but not now. Now the others have chosen to fill their lives with the follies of the humans, who had brought about their own destruction."

The black male paced then for a moment before continuing, "I came to Nova Scotia as an orphan, alone and hoping to find a new family. But the ones offered to me were unfamiliar and grotesque. But with your strength we have managed to overcome the trends that be and stay true to our nature. We are wolves!" And he barked then making his point clear, "And we are to act as wolves." Zalen then sat down on his haunches, his voice lowering, But let it be known that there is no shame in being a Luperci; the two legged form need not be curse, but a blessing for the situations that call for it. No one should be mistreated or looked down upon because the nature of their being. His eyes scanned each individual face, making this point clear.

Then, continuing, "But there are certain creatures whose natures dictate caution on our parts. Dogs, who delight so much in their humanistic ways, their heritage having been tied to the long dead fur-less ones; and coyotes, whose viciousness and savage lifestyles are only here to destroy. These individuals, coyotes especially, must never be allowed on these lands, and must be avoided at all costs". He drew back his lips then, showing white teeth, an expression that made his decision on this matter very clear.

Zalen then turned to Titania and Soran in turn, rubbing his head against them, and his voice was soft then, "We are family here, we shall love one another and show respect at all times. It is not small thing that we like-minded wolves have gathered here to return to our roots. We are one with mother earth and forever will be her children. Loyalty, above all else, and family, before all others." He then paused, letting his soft words sink in. He had never spoken this much, and in front of so many but it came to him naturally. Then, as a beautiful finish to his words, the Alpha raised his head to the sky and let out a beautiful song into the heavens that said, "We are here! We are here! This is our land!"

Cliff notes for this post: Titania greets everyone and then is like "go us" and then howls with Zalen. Smile

The Alpas arrived and wolves emerged from the land all around them, appearing nearly one atop another, all excited to meet their new family. Titania's golden eyes scanned to each in turn as they appeared, standing tall with pride at the hardy lot before her. The first of all was a snowy wolfess who introduced herself as Deuce. There was much about the wolfess that made Titania like her right away. She was the same color as her own mother, she appeared to have the wisdom of her seasons, she had clearly been through much – as evident by the marks on her face and her tattered ear. Yet aside from these shallow assumptions, there was a depth to the woman that Titania could feel in her presence, so it did not surprise her when she also added that she was Soran's mate. Titania smiled to her, her mouth closed during this important time. Posturing was paramount right now, and all the pack would know that their body language was true in this moment, so she would not risk sending the wrong signal by baring her teeth at Deuce, not even to smile.

The woman nudged her pack toward them as if to show what she had brought with her, but the pack was only a symbol of the good Deuce could really do. Titania's tail twitched with acceptance as she nosed the pouch when Zalen's snout was clear, smelling the deep herbal scents. Then she moved to Deuce, touching her nose to Deuce's first and then greeting her with more wolfish affections. The woman smelled of Crimson Dreams, of her herbal remedies, and of Soran. “Well met, Deuce. I am your pack sister, Titania.” She left out the whole 'the Alphess' bit, they would all know the moment they looked at her. She probably already knew her name, too, but did not want to let anyone be mistaken. “My heart howls for you. Thank you for bringing such a skill to our family.” She nuzzled Deuce once more and then turned to greet the others.

A gray wolf with a series of deep scars on his face stepped forward next. She knew him not, but something seemed untainted about him, though she could not place it. She didn't know Augustus yet nor could she scent a wolf from a Luperci; she didn't know what her sixth sense was trying to tell her. She had never met a non-Luperci before. Either way, it was a thought to be realized another time, for here they all stood as wolves. She stepped over to him, gave him her customary nose bump, and nuzzled him gently as she memorized his scent. The Alphess accepted this one, too. “Augustus, welcome into my heart.”

Another came then, one with a mottled coat, who she would later come to find was also not a shifter. He was seemingly lost beneath all the introductions, and for now he was content to prostrate himself. When the small sound came from him Titania's ear tilted toward him, and then her attention became his. She trotted over to him, wagging her acceptance. Her nose prodded at his fur and her tongue lashed out one single time to lick his ear. She would have his name, and made to ask, but Mordecai had come and his introduction stole her attention. She moved to the dark wolf and bestowed upon him a greeting not unlike that which she gave to the rest of the pack and said, “New Dawn welcomes you, and will give you all you shall ever need in return. Welcome, Mordecai.”

Another dark wolf was now on the scene, first prancing in with pride and authority as she moved past the core of New Dawn. Titania's eyes moved to her but were without malice, for she knew this display was not a challenge to her station. She gave her tight smile again. “Soran,” she said the name smoothly, as though some relief had washed over her. But it was not that she had been anxious before, only that she was already starting to view the good natured wolfess as a motherly figure. She was happy to see her here, though there had been no doubt in her mind that she would arrive. When she met with Soran her tail whipped the air and she drew her flank down hers, respectfully and lovingly. Titania knew that she and her pack would benefit from Soran's guidance, just as Zalen already had. “It is my pleasure to see you again, sister.”

And last but not least, another cloudy one hurried to them with apologies for his tardiness. Yet they had only just gathered and Titania did not see offense from the wolf. “Shandom,” she barked the name, but from mirth above anger. “Welcome to the light.” This was another wolf she knew already, having met Shandom at the perimeter of New Dawn before the pack's inception. They shared many of the same desires in life, and Titania knew Shandom's presence here now was the Moon's doing. He, too, would bring experience to their pack, she thought as she nudged his scarred muzzle. The thought soon had her eyes tracing through the pack. There were many signs of strife here, displayed with physical scars and with the stories that had gone untold for now. They were no ragtag group of hopeful misfits, they were a pack.

As she looked at them her eyes caught sight of the multicolored wolf, and again she moved to Thoirni. She would not have anyone left out of this momentous occasion. “And you? Let your pack know their brother's name so we may welcome you.” She urged Thoirni. The pack mulled around a moment after he spoke his name, and then Zalen commanded the mound and so commanded their attention. Titania slipped up to his side and lowered her haunches, sitting with rapt attention while he spoke.

She nodded along, and even yipped softly (almost like the sound a wolf made when caught in a dream) a time or two to emphasize her support for his words. She let him speak, though, not stealing the pack's attention from their Alpha. She had every right to, if she wanted to, but the words Zalen spoke were from his heart, and from her heart, and there was not a syllable she could have added to improve upon his speech.

Drawing back to her paws as Zalen's words came to a close, she nuzzled both he and Soran in turn, the affections of an infant but hearty leadership. “Loyalty above all! Family before all!” She echoed Zalen's mighty words just before his howl blessed the lands, and then tossed her own countenance skyward to join in the wolfsong.
