ITOU ALAKI
Closet mind is distorted instability.

Please release me before breaking.

So long... In humiliation

The final art is your dead face
Word Count :: 4842 Firstly. I did warn people this would be a beast of a post. First round posting order has been PM'd to everyone, after that free posting. The ledge/drop thing that leads to the bear can be jumped by adults so long as they know how to land properly; otherwise, you can take longer way to the left where there is an unstable path leading towards it. Eeeer, well. IM or PM me questions if ya have any :3 All NPC's are being played with permission.

ALAKI:
An eerie silence filled his chambers, the air holding a chill and the fire he'd started before turning in for the night had long since burnt out, leaving the Rakeebs chambers pitch black. As if the darkness had seeped into him, his sweet dreams began to sour; from loving memories of his Daughter, Friends and Tedros his mind began flashing images of the white one at him; happy, funny times, their stupid fights, irritating habits that both of them would nag each other back, all a prelude until the memories of the letter flooded his mind, the paper looking so out of place in the near empty room, the dread that filled him as he haltingly made his way towards it, picking the letter up as if the paper was coated in deadly poison and in a way it was; each word told him he wasn't good enough, not worthy of another’s lover, not worthy of anyone. He was trash, weak, pathetic. Noise began to build as the insults swirled around his mind, eyes flashed from everywhere he looked, full of pity, fear or ones that simply looked right through him. And then he saw himself, smirking mockingly, his own maw opening slowly to reveal blood soaked teeth that were slowly licked clean before the words were spoken. “Who were you to think you could protect anyone? Nobody needs you” the aspiration of himself began to laugh unmercifully as the nightmare slowly began to fade away.

Clenching his fists he felt a sharp pain in his hands and shot upright, grasping for breath and twisting around to grab the concealed dagger from underneath his bed. Sitting there wide eyed he waited for himself to adjust to the darkness, breathing heavily while his heart thundered in his chest. Calmly he closed Carolina blue eyes and ran his free hand through his hair to push away the nightmares, dark grey hand only shaking slightly as he pulled it free from the mess that was his hair while he placed the dagger back to where he kept it; others may call him paranoid, but with his temperament he was aware others often didn't take a liking to him and having weapons scattered around his chambers seemed both logical and sensible to him. Hesitantly at first and then with more confidence he rose to his feet and lazily padded over to his make-shift box where he stored all of his clothing. Reaching in he rummaged around until he found a black pair of jeans and tugged them on; moving next to one of the larger tables located alongside the training space he had within his quarters only a few paces from his bed. Scattered across the tops of the two tables were an assortment of weapons he had gathered since he'd moved to these lands, others he had made and one or two he had been gifted. Moving to the closest table he grabbed his Katana and the belt he'd adjusted so that it held the Japanese blade's sheath securely. Considering the other weapons, he quickly concluded it would be too much effort to attach any more to him; things had been peaceful recently and as far as he was aware he hadn't pissed anyone off recently so that they'd be after him... probably.

Stepping back from the tables he made his way towards the wall that separated his training and sleeping quarters from the rest of the Rakeeb's chamber. Looking at the door his mood fell; all over the door were red marks, hand prints painted onto it's back to remind him of what happened when the white one had left him. A warning message to himself so that every time he came and went from his room he knew not to trust anyone, not to love, never to let anyone in; doing so would only hurt him, leave him open for betrayal and loss once more. Passing through the door he entered into his workshop and flinched slightly; the air was bitingly cold, the fire had burnt out there too. “Miwa!” he barked the child's name aloud, standing there in wait to give the girl a lecture again about leaving the front door open. Straining his ears he heard nothing and with a huff he turned left and pushed open the girls door and barged into her room only to find it tidy and without Miwa in it. Turning back sharply on his heels he made his way out of his cave, ignoring anyone and everyone he may have passed and left the howling caverns, hot on the girls trail. “Just wait to I find you, Gaki” he practically hissed under his breath.

ALEXANDER COLLINS:
Breathing out heavily, ghostly pale eyes noted the puff of white smoke and eyed it with amusement. The last time he had made his way to these lands it had been winter; a snow storm in fact, during which he'd almost died and lost his memories for awhile. His time within the lands were short lived, for encountering his sister whom lead a pack of his own he felt small, pathetic and came to realise that although he left the security of his parents in search of adventure, all he had achieved was becoming an useless substance abuser and gambler. Over time he had managed to stop the drinking and with even more self perseverance he had managed to give up the drugs too; the gambling and near compulsive need to throw himself into dangerous and thrilling situations was incurable. The buzz of barely escaping with his life, challenging that that others would cower in fear from... such a rush; it was safe to say the ghostly Collins was an adrenaline junky. No matter how he scolded himself and told himself he wouldn't give into such a need again, in a couple of days he'd find himself up to his neck in trouble. Just last week he'd ripped off a couple of exceptionally large loners in a card game and managed to snag himself a new set of tattooing equipment; safely wrapped up in the leather bag that hung over his shoulder. All had seemed to have gone to plan until the cards he'd been slipping into his jeans pocket decided to timely fall out and so he'd gotten the equipment he so desired for the price of a crap load of bruises.

Gingerly he rubbed a hand down the length of his left arm, poking at the more sensitive spots for the simple sake of poking bruises. Confirming that his arms was still battered and sore he sighed heavily and pushed himself up from the bolder he was rested upon; inhaling the scents around him and desperately scanning the burnt and dead lands around him in an attempt to locate where the hell he was. The air sunk of pack lands and with no idea where he was nor how to get to his sister's pack he reached the decision that for once in his life he'd have to ask for directions; as much as it hurt his pride. And so he set off, walking at a brisk pace and following his nose in hope of reaching the pack borders and finding someone willing to assist him.

As he walked he began to sing, “My tongue’s turning back, but i'll take you back” the ghostly male sang the lyrics in an upbeat fashion compared to the depressing feel the words gave. Pierced ears and face lighting up with humour; amused by his choice of lyrics and tune. “But i'll take you back, you're still the best, more or less. I guess” he continued, projecting his voice more and more as he continued forward, oblivious to anyone whom may be close enough to hear his singing. Instead of continuing the lyrics he swapped to humming a pleasant tune, his mood surprisingly light and full of good humour.

MIWA
“Move it, move it. Ladies first!” sPushing her way forward between Naniko's too kids, Miwa attempted to take the lead on the basis that she was the oldest and the most mature. Turning back she glanced at Severous and Judas, smiling sweetly towards the grey male and pulling a face at his darker brother “And when I say ladies I mean myself, not you Sev” he howled with laughter, picking up the pace and concentrating solely on running; not bothered to hear either of their responses to her little jav towards the grey boy. After having spent some time with Sev when he and herself travelled with her father to various packs in search of the evil Matteo and Gemma, she had found she quite liked the company of the grey one, or at least; he didn't annoy her as much as the rest of Naniko's lot did. So far the group had done little more then sneak out while everyone else still slept on the search of adventure; for when there were no grown-ups around there was no one to say 'no' or put a stop to their fun. Despite her fathers many warnings about sticking close to the caves if she had to leave them, the young Itou couldn't understand what her father feared; within her mind she saw herself as indestructible, for she was Miwa, daughter of Alaki, the Rakeeb of these lands and no one dared to lay a hand on her.

Bounding forwards with a show of endless energy all three youths seemed to possess, they made quick progress towards the borders. As the scent of their home lands began to fade all three hesitated and paused, three pairs of eyes staring out towards the lands that did not belong to their parent's.

Flashing a smug look to the two boys, Miwa lifted a grey paw to continue forward only to see the two brothers had beaten her to it. Frowning she let out a low growl and bounded after them, glaring at both as she finally caught up. Making their way forward they reached the a rocky ledge and peered over the side; a sharp drop was revealed, too high for the young trio to jump down without damaging themselves in the process, but beneath was a flat landscape that lead out into the lands beyond Anathema. “No way down that. Let's turn back; we're still in pack lands... but if we go any further” Sev spoke, a voice of reason amongst the three children. As she lifted her head to agree with the grey boy she spotted something, “There” she indicated to the path just off to the side that led down from the ledge to the terrain beneath them. As soon as she had pointed it out she felt regret, seeing Judas instantly head towards it and begin to descend towards the lands beneath them.

“Babies” Judas muttered loud enough for the others to hear clearly. Determined not to lose, Miwa bumped Sev's shoulder and swing her head in the direction of the trail; a non-verbal way of commanding the other to follow. As she approached the rock trail she froze slightly as she noted it's uneven and crumbling surface. But as soon as she saw the darker male before her all hesitation evaporated and she quickly made the decent, beaming with pride as she made it successfully down to the bottom having only slipped twice; once less than Sev and Judas. Once more with solid ground and grass beneath her paws, the young Itou felt confident and more secure; discovering she wasn't one for heights and unstable rocky trails.

Now that they were down there, all three spread out slightly to explore for a few minutes before re-grouping back where the rocky path had ended. “Ya find anything” she asked to two boys, noting Sev's blank expression and guessing he'd found nothing, before turning to his brother and noticing the smug look on the lads face. “What? What ya find?” she asked, curiosity flaring up. “Follow me, i'll show you...” he answered, keeping up with mysterious act.

ALAKI:
With each step his temper flared, his mind racing and conjuring up more and more dramatic and disastrous situations his daughter could of gotten herself into and worse; after following Miwa's scent out of the caves for awhile it had been joined with two of Naniko's children. There was no doubt in his mind who's stupid idea this entire thing was and when he caught her scraggly grey tale he planned to lecture the ears off her. Although he was quite possibly the worst and more irresponsible parent out there he had tried to at least teach his daughter common sense and from what he'd seen in her she was smart, adaptable and more then capable of looking after herself despite her young age. And yet, there was this damned rebellious streak of hers that liked to flare up now and then where she'd do something unbelievably stupid and the grey Rakeeb would be once more remind that his daughter was just a pup; a pup whom he neglected greatly and undoubtedly had inflicted a crappy childhood upon. Often he'd hide from the truth by telling himself that Miwa looked happy and that she didn't need him to be constantly looking over her shoulder and running her life; but without him, who did she have?

His head throbbed and he gritted his teeth, irritation practically radiating of his dark form; so caught up in the moment of storming after his defiant daughter he had left his hair unbounded, dark thick strands sprayed out behind him catching on anything and everything. One day he may eventually bring himself to cut the mess shorter, but whenever he considered how he'd look with short hair it simply disturbed him enough that he'd rather tolerate long hair then look like some mutated thing. With his right hand he tugged at the leather strip tied around his left wrist until it came undone; placing the strip and gripping it carefully with his teeth he pushed the black mass away from his face and gathered it at the top of his head; holding it up with one so that he could truss it with the other, he quickly fastened the mess into a high ponytail and then reached to his belt; unravelling the navy blue material that was wrapped around it and tying it round his head so that his fringe was kep from his face.

After having left without means of tying his hair up, the Rakeeb had quickly learned to carry a bandanna and leather strip on him at all times just in case. All the while doing this he continued forward after the young trio, noting in the back of his mind how close they were getting to the border and then planning the burial site for all three; for when he caught up to them they were all dead meat.

Before him the border drew nearer and nearer, the territory morphing from lush grass and trees into a more rocky and treacherous one as he grew closer to then edge of the Halcyon Mountain. With the grounds growing more uneven, with random towering crags and hidden drops one had to tread more carefully as they descended the mountain range too the lower landscape; which it would seem the pups had managed to successfully do somehow. No blood or obvious sign of injury littered the scent trail he followed and so he could only hope the kids were in good health and managing to navigate through the lands okay; sure, they’d all grown up on the mountain and within the caves, but as far as he knew they had little experience descending the mountain.

Padding forward he reached a ledge, but before he could peer down it he heard and all to familiar ear shattering scream. “Miwa!” he shouted at the top of his lungs, twisting his head in the direction the scream had come from, his heart racing within his chest as more screams followed it. Glancing down the ledge he judge the drop and then threw himself down to the terrain beneath it, landing heavily and loudly he rolled with the motion to lessen the impact and quickly sprang back up to his feet, pulling free his Katana and racing off in the direction the children were in.

MIWA:

Following Judas she grew impatient; the pest wouldn't give anything away despite hers and Sevs constant nagging and as they walked aimlessly forward she felt more and more tempted to take a chunk out of the darker brother and force the information out of him. Yet before she had a chance to take a bite out of him, the darker boy came to a halt with a triumphant look sat upon his face, “Look” he spoke the single word, drawing the other two attention towards a dark cave; hidden neatly out of sight where it could easily be missed by someone unless they were specifically seeking it out. Cautiously the grey duo pulled up alongside the darker boy and stared into the seemingly never-ending depth of the dark entrance. Opening her mouth it took her a few attempts to form a understandable sentence. “What's in there” she asked, not daring to look away from the cave, fearing is she did so some demon would sneak out and eat her alive.

Tense as she was, she was still curious about the haunted looking cave and wanted to know what was in it. When Judas did not respond she finally pulled her eyes away from it and pointedly looked at the male, who simply done a wolfy shrug. “Dunno, didn't go in there yet.” he explained, a mischievous grin tugging at his lips. “But I bet you two are two much of scaredy cats to go in there” instantly her hackles were up and she growled at the male “I ain't no scaredy cat. My dad's Alaki, I ain't scared of 'nothin like he is” she responded, turning to Severus and not giving the more sensible of a three a chance to say anything. “Come on, let's see who has the most balls out of all of us. Bet I do” she provoked the others, repeating the words she'd heard her father say once without truly understanding their meaning.

The game had been set and all three made their way to the cave entrance; taking it in turns to see who could go the furthest each round. Choosing to go first Miwa managed a whole ten steps before she started feeling skittish, not liking being so far away from the others. Following her Judas managed sixteen and Severus managed fourteen and so the game had began. Further and further the delved into the cave, growing more and more cocky as their sight adjusted to the darkness. With each round Miwa found herself falling behind the younger boys and so when her next turn came she kicked of and ran forward at full speed, laughing as she passed the boys at the top of her lungs.

Twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two.... twenty-seven.... thirty. She was now tied with Judas's best score and the sense of triumph filled her; full of confidence she continue forward, no longer fearing the darkness that surrounded her. “Thirty-five, thirty-six” she began to count aloud and turned back to see if she could see the others still and hit something solid.... and furry. With a loud yelp she jumped back and was pleased to find the two lads having followed behind her, one standing on either side of her as the trio tried desperately to make out whatever she had ran into.

Movement sounded before them and yet no matter how they strained their eyes all they saw was darkness. So far into the tunnel no light reached them any more; and judging from the fact whatever it was was moving and in a heavy footed manner the kids soon realised that whatever it was was big and that sticking around wasn't in their best interest. Slowly Miwa stepped back, her body stiff with fear, her slim frame shaking slightly as she repressed the whimpers that begged to be released. The managed a few steps back before whatever lay before them moved again, the sound of sniffing caused her body to freeze, eyes huge as they stared into the black depths before here. Then the beast released a low, throat rawr and she screamed at the top of her lungs and turned tail and fled; followed up by a screaming Severus or Judas, she wasn't all that sure.

ALAKI:

Pain erupted in his lungs, his thighs complaining at the sudden pace he was setting but he cared little; something had happened to his little girl, his daughter whom he should be protection, whom he should be there for and wasn't. Making a sharp turn he stumbled a step as he brought himself to a stop, pin pointing the screams coming from a cave hidden along the rocky crag, staring at it only for a second he started to go in after the kids on to see the panic stuck forms of the three children emerging the cave, relief flooding him and his muscles starting to relax until he saw what had caused their distress. Emerging from the darkness of the cave was a black coated bear, the beast padding forward in a somewhat sleepy manner, irritation and anger radiation from it's dark form as it continued after the pups, only pausing as it's eyes fell upon the Rakeeb. “You lot, get the fucking hell out of here this instant” he commanded the children, not bothering to watch his language, nor bothering to check if the children had listened. Taking up a fighting stance his eyes remained fixed upon the bear all the while his mind raced to find a way to kill such a beast armed only with a Katana, for there wasn't enough time for him to shift to his Secui form and yet he simply wasn't confident a blade would be able to deal with the bear. Still, with the children present or close by he had to at least try something, if only to give the kids a chance to get away.

The main problem would be the range; could he successfully strike a vital point on the bear before one of the creature's powerful paws struck him? Despite being a smaller species of bear, the black one before him did not look stupid; grumpy and just woken up maybe, but from the easy confidence the creature seemed to hold himself with the Rakeeb could only guess that things were gonna get messy and painful fast. Inching forward he watched as the black bear yawned, it's mouth lined with saliva in a grotesque manner and then the beast stood and released a harsh growl before falling back to all fours and charged forward; leaving him no more time to think, only time to do or die.

Holding his ground he watched the other approach, waiting for the creature to enter his range; no point recklessly going for the other, better to keep his cool and not slip up, or so he hoped. Closer and closer the bear reached towards him, the growling emitted from it's maw becoming increasingly louder and harsher. There! Stepping forward he dipped the katana's tip down and swung the blade upward in an arch, but as he felt the edge connect the creature moved too the left, his blade striking shallowly against the bears chest. As if in slow motion his arms continued to move in the arc and he desperately tried to bring them down quickly to defend himself. Kicking hard on the ground he jumped back and felt claws snag and drag their way through his right thigh, the wound burning and causing the young samurai to hiss in pain.

“Dad!” a high pitched squeal sounded behind him and horror filled him; they hadn't left, merely moved a few paces away judging from Miwa's voice. Ignoring the pain in his leg he jumped forward and caught the bears shoulder with the tip of his blade, once more not moving out of the wasn't fast enough and finding himself a matching set of claw marks upon left thigh. Pain seared through him and his legs shook slightly, he wanted to collapse give in; the bear was too much, too strong and he was too weak, to pathetic. The nightmare flared up within his mind once more, taunting him, demeaning him, informing him of how worthless and weak he was.

“Dad... Dad.. dad...” the pleading voice of his daughter reached him and then he realised; if he lost now, if he gave up and didn't bother trying... who would save the kids? No one knew they had left, no one would be able to get to them quickly, maybe even find the place. Staring at the bear he squashed all fear he felt about facing the creature, killed all the insecurity that had been building within him for such a long time and he steadied his blade and when the bear charged, so did he. Through his hands he could feel his blade connect upon the bear, his eyes watched as it swiped across the black beasts face, slicing through it's eye and the following spray of blood; licking his lips he looked down smugly at the beast and was then thrown to the side, head smacking against the rocky wall and his body falling limp. Then the darkness swallowed him and for once, within his mind …. there was silence.

ALEXANDER:

Humming as he went, the pale coated male traipsed leisurely through the dead lands, completely dumbfounded as to where he was and wondering why it was taking him so long to reach the borders of the pack he had scented awhile ago. Padding slowly in the direction of the packs scent he moved mindlessly until the scent intensified, clearing his throat he was about to howl for someone's assistance when screaming follow by a whole hell of a commotion. Hesitation and anxiety pinned him to the spot; whatever was happening was happening within the pack lands and despite it sounding bad there was no way of him knowing what was going down until he crossed the border and if things weren't as serious as they seemed he'd have to do a whole lot of explaining.

Stupidity struck him and he crossed the border, picking up speed and following the sounds of cries and screams. Soon he found himself running; the smell of blood filled the air and his body filled with excitement and expectation. Although unarmed the ghostly male was confident in his hand to hand combat and so he'd lend a hand one way another; or so he thought. Stumbling upon the scene his eyes fell upon the form of a dark male in a growing pool of blood, a bear poised over him maw open to make the final blow, while lingering in the background were three distressed children. Bending down he felt for the largest rock he could find, grabbed it and threw it towards the bear; earning himself a welcoming growl and the bears complete attention.

Anxiously he watched as the bear pulled itself of the fallen male and seemed to stare at him then charged; so he did the only thing that he could think of. He rank like hell and when the bear caught up to him, he dodged and doubled back upon himself heading back toward the fallen male and repeating as such in an desperate attempt to tire the creature out; although only succeeding in frustrating the bear further.

Eventually the bear tired of the Collin's game and stopped between Alex and the fallen warrior; the bears attention solely on Alex and so when the male seemed to wake up he relaxed a little in the knowledge he wouldn't have to take on a bear unarmed in his optime form alone; yet the male started shifting, causing and agitated frown to settle upon the pale male's face until he realised that the other must either be unarmed to or something along those lines. A lot of guess work going on, but with nothing more to go on he decided he would continue distracting the bear until the other had a chance to shift; and then see if the dark male would return the same courtesy. In his optime form he was useless, in secui he could at least be of some help... probably.

Foolishly though he'd paid to much attention to the other and found himself flat on his back with a bear looming above him before he could actually do anything. So much for being helpful; you're just adding to the body count.... the single thought came to him, followed by a single word. “Bollocks”.

Then the alarm went up; caw single crow caw'ing loudly over the scene was soon joined by another. Staring at the crows he couldn't help but wonder why the hell they were making so much noise.

WC: 700+

It had started out a decent enough day. Finn had woken just before the dawn to the sound of Alastair tip-tapping his antlers on the cave mouth. They’d gone for a run along the southern face of the mountains, Finn had caught a surprisingly plump hare for breakfast, and the morning had gone by slowly with nary a visitor nor a disturbance. It had been only a few days since Finn had joined the Anathemans, and already she was looking healthier and stronger than the pitiful, bony mess Naniko had found dying in a snowdrift. As she ran, Finn extended her legs to their fullest, and she flew across the white powder like a sparrow, darting in and out of the edge of the woods with precise turns. An exhilarated smile lit her face, and she strove to move even faster, streaking through the trees like a silver bullet.

It was the shock of crow screeches that brought her to a skidding halt, and Finn watched with no small amazement as a veritable cloud of birds burst from the trees and took to the sky. The she-wolf turned towards the direction they had come from. She could hear raised voices. Springing into motion, she surged between the bare tree trunks, breath coming in short, fast pants. Unbeknownst to Finn, even as she ran, her appearance altered. Her body grew larger, the muscles in her shoulders and legs becoming more pronounced, the fur shaggier and tougher. Without even realizing it, Finn had changed from Lupus to Secui form. She barrelled through the underbrush, pausing but a second to review the scene. A bear, standing atop a wolf, Alaki in the corner, bloodied, unconscious? Three pups off to the side.

This image securely lodged in her brain and a plan flickering to life, Finn only increased her speed, putting all focus on the snarling black bear about to disembowel his captive. Finn’s eyes had widened at the sight of the bear, but it was not out of fear. The content smile returned, even as the hackles rose and her ear pinned back. Gathering her breath, she let loose a cacophonous, broken howl and leaped into the fray, momentum giving her enough height to spring directly onto the bear’s back. It was a dangerous substrate, and Finn found herself slipping and skidding with each alarmed motion of the bear. His fur was thick, but not particularly sleek after a few months in hibernation, so Finn clawed at this, eliciting an infuriated roar. Finn landed a brief, tugging nip on the bear’s ear to raise his head, before his clicking and snapping jaws almost caught her own limb.

Finn jumped free, turning as she did so that her paws landed square on the ground, and she was once again facing the quarry. The bear had not managed to kill the wolf in his paws, and now his piggy little eyes were turned on Finn. She smiled wider and let loose another jarring howl. “Come on, ya lug, come get at me! Aren’t I just the temptingest little morsel?” She darted back and forth, nipping at his chin, his toes, his blanks. Her bites did little damage, but they allowed her to move fast enough to keep away from the bear’s paws, swinging like a ship’s boom in a gale, and annoy the creature to distraction.

Though her style was strange and unpredictable, an onlooker would be able to see that Finn was kiting the bear away from Alaki and the pups and the unnamed wolf. The bear was still fuddled from his lap and sudden awakening, so he went well enough, if a little ponderously. Finn laughed aloud, her heart singing. This was too easy! This was too simple! She’d have this bear laid out like a fallen tree in just a mo-. Smack Finn caught one of those dinner plate paws on the edge of her chest. It had been an off-balanaced swipe, and thus the heel of the paw hit long before the claws. The blow simply sent Finn spinning away, her pelt stinging with fresh, but shallow cuts, instead of cutting to the bone. Now her lungs failed to work at all, stunned by the sudden blow. Finn coughed and spluttered, scrambling up the small rise to gain some height and time so that she might recover.

“A little help would be of great use!” She wheezed.

The situation of an extra child to take care of was still very ponderous for the giant Austral male. The appearance of Io's granddaughter had taken all of the family by surprise. The male responsible for siring her had disappeared off back into the woodwork for now and he felt the urge to grab the boy by the back of the neck and shake him, one did not abandon their newborn infants, even if it was onto his mother's lap. He thought heavily for this as he made his way towards the stables he had built, intent on beginning his day in a relatively good mood even though he remained deep within his mind, thinking over what to do with the newest addition to the Tormenta line, Estrella. He hardly even noticed as he stepped into the stables to begin his daily work the horses that neighed or nickered hello to him. His answer was a vague greeting of sorts before he managed to pull himself out of the ravine of his mind and truly comprehend the world around him. He rubbed at his eyes tiredly, the nightmares had not ceased for several days now and it was beginning to wear him down. He untied his weapon and tool belt from around his waist and set it on the floor in plain sight, ever since the AniWaya war he went nowhere without it now.

The man picked up his pitchfork, brought with him when he had left AniWaya, it had been reassembled again from its detached state for use in Anathema. Faith pushed her head out of her roomy stall as he walked past and tugged on his midnight black hair, looking at him with a concerned expression. He explained to the Austral lady about the recent additions to the family and about his reoccurring nightmare. She was sympathetic to his plight and slightly scornful of Io. She hadn't truly understood why she stayed until one day he had brought the three children to her stall, tiny without their eyes open, before they were aware of the world around them. They wouldn't remember their first visit to the stables bu she would always remember them. The mare rumbled in her chest and reached up again to tug at his hair before pulling back to let him work.

Feeling more lonely for her withdrawal he began his daily routine of sweeping the stables and then clearing out the stalls of muck. This required some fiddling as certain horses were more difficult than others, in particular the mare of the idiot Rakeeb. She was feisty like Jager had been and it was a daily battle to get her into the paddock while he cleaned out her stall then to return her when he was done. The rest seemed to understand and accept that he was simply clearing up around them and either moved out of his way or requested to be placed out in the paddock to run about and stretch. Some of them couldn't be let out together because they fought and so the majority of his time cleaning was actually spent rearranging the horses as he needed them to be. It was draining work to say the least.

But this day his work would be interrupted although it usually was, but this time not by fighting horses or other animals complaining generally but by crows. Sounding the alarm. Shit! Flashbacks of the war rolled before his eyes as his pitchfork was dropped to the floor with a loud clatter that startled several of the equines and provoked loud whinny's from them. He grabbed his weapons belt as he passed by it and secured it around his waist, Drolengur glinted brightly in the weak sun as he stepped out into the morning air, ears on alert for the direction of their calls. He took off at a run over the uneven ground, his tail straight out behind him for what balance it could lend. White star eyes searched for the reason for the alarm, were they being attacked? Had someone been injured? Although the answers to his questions were true he would have never guessed of the way that they were.

Seconds seemed to drag on and his feet move too slow as the sounds of his own harsh breathing blocked out most of the others except the one he was focused on, the alarm call. A flash of bright color dragged his eyes away from his goal as he had to quickly correct his balance less he stumble. Aeron had joined the race to find out the problem, and had angled her own fast pace so that it would intercept with his own. They said not a word to each other as they joined in direction but they did not have to, the worry was their clear in both their eyes to see as well as the hardened emotions that came before a fight, the closing off of the heart and fueling of violence. The rocky ground was treacherous footing and it was only by pure luck that he did not go down on several occasions as stones and rocks slipped underneath his feet. Now they could clearly hear screams of children and the deafening roar of a bear. His heart pounded faster now as fear spiked through him, could they be his own crying out so fervently. He was the first of the pair to leap off the ledge of rock and hand with bended knees, his sword was drawn as razor sharp eyes drew in the situation as Finn had done before him, the injured Rakeeb and stranger and crying children, that thankfully were not his, and the bear that quickly swatted his friend to the side like she was nothing more than a rag doll.

These children may not be his but two of them he recognised were the son's of the Angelo, that made them priority to protect, the other female he did not know her parentage. He grasped his sword with both hands and raised it hight as he charged the bear head on, the beast looking at him with surprise for a second at this yelling angry thing coming at it before meeting his charge. The man's blade struck true but only just, penetrating skin and slicing through muscle. There was grace to him as he moved fluidly, dodging a paw swat, being in too close and throwing himself away before charging again.

Aeron like Leon had been working she was a mother and there were many things that she still needed to do to make sure that her family life was secure and happy. She was a busy little bee and had been for weeks but this week she was trying to stay home trying to stay close to Io and the kids. She had only left to gather thins like fire wood and stuff Io may need.

Leon had been in the stables as normal there was something between the two that hadn't been there before and Aeron was becoming more at ease with the male. But the sound she heard struck fear in her heart. She dropped what she was doing and quickly met up with him and not a word was said as the two raced towards the call.

A male she didn't know was there. So much was going on here and it made it hard for her to focus. she watched as a new member of Anathema was swatted like a mere fly, Aeron looked at Leon and then at the bear. she had to help defuse this. She had to protect Alaki and the children. they were not hers but they were in a sense. they were a family and Aeron would protect them.

Leon becareful what she should have done is ordered the larger male to drag bodies out of here. she would get hurt alone but safety of others had to come before hers. she looked at the bear and pulled out a knife and threw it at it. though it moving only allowed for it to graze and just cut the bear slightly. she snarled and moved back a pace. Trying to give the bear more room.

She eyeed the beast trying to figure out a plan of attack. Her mind just couldn't think and she was worried about alaki and how bad he was she glanced at him and the kids as she pulled a knife. With great precision she tied a long thin rope to it and threw the knife. A miss wouldn't matter much as she still had control of the knife.

Word Count → 787 :: yeah i'm here.

I will fight this war forever,
or until I die.

Tonight had been quiet, almost too quiet really. With the increasing amount of pups within the pack, there almost always were little bastards running around making all kinds of noise, in which, Lillith would become interested and try to see what the 'big kids' were playing. She and a few of the other pups were around the same age while The Rakeeb and the Angela's children were a few months older. She hadn't seen those children in some time, sure, maybe little glimpses of them, or her hearing them playing hide and go seek or whatever they were playing these days. Fling the moose-tail was it? Who knows. Panda sure didn't know what stupid little games that children were playing, except for what game that her and her friends had come up with once upon a time ago. That was another story though, one not appropriate for now. Either way, there were no pups adventuring out today, and little adults either. It made both Panda and Venom wonder what was up. Could Zera'im have taken them all and just sat them down for some magick tricks or something? Panda felt uneasy. Serenade was also gone. Where was her bird? She knew he liked to go off randomly, and he would tell her that there was herbs in certain places and sometimes he brought some back for her, but he never was gone for too long. She could only wonder where that albino birdbrain could have gotten to.

She heard the sounds of others, and she felt an energy around the depths of the lands that had alerted not only herself, but her friend and soulmate as well. It would be then that the cawing would start, and the howls would rise to the air. Venom had been lucky to have his own weapons, and was mounted on the large stallion, Korosk, while Panda was riding on the smaller paint mare that had become Panda's friend and faithful steed. Panda even successfully found the Paint a mate, in which was being ridden right beside her most of the time now, since Zera'im had been in and out. Today, thankfully, the new parents were able to take a break from their child and they had time to just be themselves, with each other, and no one else around, except for now, now that the pack had been alerted. Panda assumed the Serenade was part of the mass of crows that were cawing, warning. They were saying disturbing things, and Panda was slightly horrified that she was hearing these things, and it made Panda ride with urgency, suddenly, and Korosk and Venom made their way to where the birds had come from. Bear, Bear, Pups, Raaaaa-kkkkkeeeeebbb. Help. Help. repeated the birds over and over again. It made the pair of steeds run as fast as they could, towards the puppies, and now the bear and assisting adults.

It would not be too long after that the Furcas and the Zepar had made it to where the pups and the others were at, and Panda quickly found herself going to the puppies and shooing them further away from the adults, but she did not want to go too far. For she might be needed to help distract the beast, or to aid those whom have gotten hurt. Her steed had run away from the area around them, but she did not stray too far, only a safe distance away from the fight.

Venom, on the other hand was still mounted upon Zera'im's steed, and he drew himself an arrow made from a sharpened branch. He trailed along another side, but found himself still having to get off of the horse. He did not mind and he quickly dismounted and moved to where he would have a clear shot of the bear. He had specialized in the wooden types of arrows, but he also had some other ones, such as rib arrows and bone arrows. Those were harder to deal with and come by, so he didn't use them often. He knew that he would have to use them though, because there was little chance he could effectively get a good enough shot for the wooden ones that liked to break. He still took the wooden one first though, to see if he could work with it. The first arrow was loaded and his bow was drawn back, he aimed quickly, making sure to note the positions of everyone else. He then let the arrow go, and the bow gave a warning sound of something being shot, like a single tap on a drum, or a strum of a bass guitar.

WC:1094+ -yoink- xD This really is tl;dr sorry.

"Guys?" Caprica said to an empty chamber. The first few months of her little brothers' life would never come back: when they were together most every day: easy to find, always at her mother's or another close person's side. These days they weren't even the full triple act all the time: they had started to go their separate ways, make new friends and have different adventures. She had been away too, on a whirlwind tour of the westerly provinces, and she didn't begrudge them their freedom. She guessed she just kind of missed their ever-present noise and mischief.

The thick-coated wolfess, optime-formed as usual, moved to the commons and then to the entrance, where at least the trails were more concentrated and less entangled. There was no recent puppy-trace except that of the Rakeeb's girl. Maybe at least Miwa would know what was going on with her siblings today. Caprica was willing to clutch at straws. She'd been spending so much time with her new horse from Aniwaya, she had not spent any quality time with the kids since she got back. Of course, they were probably having a whale of a time without their big sister fussing over them, but then again, they always managed to have fun together one way or another. It seemed Miwa's father was with her, which relieved Caprica: at least the girl was being watched out for. When her brothers' scent joined the trail, she punched the air and whooped joyfully. Perfect score. She wished now she'd kept the horse with her: she was eager to catch up the little group. She didn't fancy the mare's hooves on these rocks, though she was certainly having to remind herself not to wrap the creature in cotton wool: she was a horse, not a delicate little kitten. Still, as it became unevenly steep and treacherous, Caprica found herself panting with the effort of moving forwards and shook her head wonderingly. What the hell were they thinking clambering up here? The territory was sure to end soon. She'd taken Alaki for a more sensible wolf than this, leading the pups into the barely traversible outskirts. Not much more sensible, of course, with his bouts of madness and rage and his ever-present swords and knives and so forth but somehow he didn't really seem like an unstable character. She might have something to say to him soon, though, she thought grimly picking over a particularly sheer part of the path. Her foot slipped on a stone and she gave a yelp of pain as her ankle turned. That was enough for Caprica: she sat down amongst the stones, rested the foot on the other thigh and started to massage the ankle, glad of the rest. She didn't think it was badly hurt, but she didn't want to risk over-straining it more and ending up with a highly useless and unflattering swollen joint.

Her back was comfortable against a boulder: she stayed where she was for some time, thinking about not much in particular, enjoying the view of the landscape that was so much nicer to look at than to walk across. Rugged ravines, natural-piled stacks, screes and gunmetal clouds, crossed by wheeling black crow silhouettes. Wait a second, those didn't look right. She shaded her eyes, arched brows creasing. The birds seemed frantic and organised - all flying together. Pricking her ears, she could make out the croaking distress call, faint but unmistakeable. Caprica thought then of only one thing - the children. She leapt to her feet and jogged forwards as fast as she could risk, pleased to realise her ankle wasn't even painful. Whatever trouble was happening back at the village, or wherever it was, she wanted to find her brothers before she dealt with anything. Although, as she made it further down the trail a sinking sensation came to her stomach as she realised there were crows circling up ahead as well. "Hang on little guys, I'm coming," she muttered through grinding teeth as she maneuvered over the ledge and what she saw hit her as heavily as a train, or indeed a bear. The pups clustered at a safe distance from the behemoth, thankfully with the mystic Panda acting as a living shield for them, and there were already fighters present - but the storm-coated Alaki lay still and unmoving, his katana fallen from his grasp, and another male - an outsider - was similarly disabled. A newcomer to the pack had made her winded way up a small slope, and a wolf she'd seen around but didn't know was just heading in for another charge, while Venom mounted on a horse and an amber-hued woman aimed arrows thrown knives the creature's way. Caprica could feel only the urgency of the moment. Once that huge animal reached one of the fallen again, a slow-bleeding puncture wound would not help. Its eye had been put out, though, and she was certain it could not stand for long against their combined efforts. It was the single chance act in its death throes that Caprica feared most. So she did not use her sling, although it was hung round her neck as always. She was among the larger wolves in the land and she knew her strength would be better put to use up close, as Leon's was. But instead of striking bare-handed, she ran to Alaki, guessing the warrior would have had a fearsome weapon ready and she was right - the katana looked deadly sharp where it had fallen from his unconscious hand. She bent for the blade, muttering "Sure hope you wake up and take this thing back off me soon..." as her concerned eyes raked his form for signs of life. But there was no time to stand on ceremony, and Caprica had to turn away from the fallen, spinning to face the fight. She clenched the hilt of Alaki's weapon tightly, and advanced to the rear of the bear, keeping it between herself and Leon. It was time to do this bastard some damage. Nobody went near her brothers. With a furious grunt of effort to drive herself on, Caprica lunged forwards and brought the katana down towards the back of the bear, entreating whatever spiritual powers there were present to give her enough strength to sever the animal's spine.

Lets do this!

WC: 581

Points: 5

Axelle had been hanging around outside the caves for a while, not really doing anything important and not really trying to do anything. She was bored; it wasn’t time for her to sleep yet, though many of her other pack members were doing just that. She found in herself that she retained much of her wolfly instincts more than others. She stayed awake at night, while others slumbered comfortably in their dens with children and or loved ones. She had neither, so there was nothing holding her back from staying awake.

She had been hiking around the side of the mountain for about an hour when she heard an uproar of caws. Axelle stopped where she was and turned her head to the sounds. The birds sounded frantic, and whatever it was they were cawing about made her stomach sink. Whatever it was, it was on Anathema lands and this could be a good opportunity to use her weapons… She looked on her own body. She didn’t have her baby equipped with her tonight, just her katana and whatever else she could make do with. Claws, teeth, blade, etc.

She wasted no time thinking as she hurriedly and carefully made her way down what she did climb of the mountain. She was careful to avoid tripping over the rocks that gave her trouble before and was swiftly hopping and stepping over them. It took her a little while before sounds of others made it to her ears. She was getting closer and within no time, she could see the scene. A black bear was threatening a few of her friends. Alaki was laying on the ground in his own pool of blood. She wanted desperately to help him, but she was a warrior, not a medic. She needed to help the bear in realizing that it just made the biggest mistake of its life attacking Anathema pack members.

By now the ground was flatter and grassier, and she was able to break into a full speed run towards the scene. There was a large drop before her that she carelessly jumped over, landing hard and stumbling forward a little. She felt a sharp pain in her right leg, but ignored it as it wasn’t a horrible pain. She could deal with it until she had time to check it out later. She surveyed the scene quickly as she walked forward toward the bear. Alaki was down, but he seemed alright for the moment, one of Naniko’s children and another strange male had the bear’s attention for right now, while another black and white femme shooed the children away from the scene. Were the pups the cause of this? She wasn’t aware, and all she knew was that she needed to get in there.

As she approached the creature, frontwards, she saw Naniko’s daughter hack away at the bear’s back. She wasn’t aware if she had the result she wanted, but when the bear turned to snarl at the cause of its new wound, Axelle made her move. She quickly unsheathed her sword, and lunged at the distracted bear. Her sword sliced at the bear’s left shoulder, but she wasn’t exactly sure of the damage because a large head swung back in her direction. ”Bad day for you, Mr. Bear.” She mumbled under her breath and backed out of harm’s way. There were too many wolves on him for him to do anything stupid and incautious. Then again, he was a stupid bear.

Rain heard the roar of a bear and went running, grabbing a spear and a dagger and his medical bag before he ran out of the caves. He could smell injured before he even made it to the scene. He jumped all dramatically from the ledge, rolling a little like his father had taught him. Rain watched as two females fight the bear before jumping into the fray. He struck at the bear with his spear, getting it in a eye. With a hard jerk the bear lost its eye and screamed, rushing at him. The bear had been provoke and Rain knew it was just protecting is territory. It shouldn't have to die yet it threatened the pack that so foolishly provoked it into waking.

He circled around and jabbed it its side as it swiped at one of the females. It rose up on its hind paws and roared again and Rain rushed forward, jabbing it before slicing deeply into the bears stomach. It took a mad swipe at him and he jumped back and grabbed the male who had been pinned and dragged him out of the way. He dragfed the unconscious male out of the way and ran his fingers over the mans body. He had a few cracked ribs and a deep bloody claw mark on his side. Rain went to work giving the male some skullcap tea and started cleaning out the wounds. He put a paste on it to numb the pain and work as quickly as he could before running back in and jabbing the bear again. That poor bear was in for a long ride.
