she's in lupus (she cant actually shift to anything else xD). word count: 516

She lunged through the valley on tired paws, a child with gangly limbs and a lanky build. Her eyes were almond shaped, large, and bright from youth, but they were tinted with tremor and pain at this very moment. The things she had seen were far from innocent. No child should be able to watch their mother die at such a tender age. As she hit the southernmost part of the woodlands, Aoi felt as if she'd gone far enough. These lands belonged partly to her father but she was a stranger. A child she was, but Aoi was not without intelligence. The five month old pup plotted down her rump and shivered in the cold air, the early sunset of winter already arrived, the night dark despite it being little over 5 pm.

Her cautious eyes flicked this way and that, and she was startled and nervous, her bottom lip trembling to weep had she been able to. The young wolf was barely over the borders, but still felt like she had dared the impossible, and in her chest she felt it probable that she would be shunned from the pack. But this was the place. Before she had died from a mysterious illness, Aoi's mother had told her two words. Alaki, Anathema. Alaki was a name, she had known that automatically, but still had no idea whom it belonged to. And she had listened to others speak of Anathema. She'd heard others say they were from the pack, and had followed them, skulking the back-ally's and shadows like a blind mouse. The girl wouldn't dare ask for directions, she wasn't much of a talker, but she knew she was in the right place. Her mother's last words must have had some meaning to them, Aoi was confident in that at least. She was sure her mother wouldn't direct her to a place where she would be killed. Yet cautious Aoi was, all the same.

She really didn't know what to do. Having been raised in solitude, in the confinements of a cave - her mother had a liking for the dark structures - it was all she could do to stay alive these past few weeks. Especially as she didn't hunt. It wasn't that she couldn't hunt, but she refused to. She watched prey die and saw the same pain in their eyes that were in her very own the day her mother had died. And she couldn't do it. Aoi could muster the strength to eat fish; their eyes were cold and void of feeling, but any mammals and she would threaten to break down. Her diet mostly consisted of plants that her mother had confirmed as edible, berries, nuts, and insects. And so Aoi was a sorry sight, with lanky limbs and a malnourished, swollen build. Through dark fur that spread to a clean white around her face, she saw the world before her and wished she was somewhere else, somewhere not as scary. But even so, she held back her thoughts and tilted her head back, letting forth a young, wobbly howl.

The pack had been doing quite well this winter. Naniko was proud of them - they kept the store of meat up to an acceptable level and didn't over-eat, it would seem. She was glad to have a few new Zepars around to help fill up the cache. Her sons were growing larger and stronger, but with that came a much bigger diet. They weren't very good at hunting yet and would often take small amounts of meat out of the cache to tide themselves over while in between meals. They were also gaining skills at fishing, which would help them out if they could not find prey in the mountains due to the winter weather or a harsh snowfall. Their pack sat right against the ocean on the lower East side, a body of water that never frozen over and that would help provide the pack with sustenance through the harsher months of winter. The ocean held so many different species of fish..every time she went to fish off the cliff sides she caught something new.

She carried a rod over her shoulder as she walked the border, headed around the pack and toward the ocean. She hoped to gather a few more fish for their indoor ponds, a place where her children could learn how to fish as they got older and learned to shift. Even though they were growing up, they still had much to learn and would need to master an all new set of skills when they did complete their transformation. Naniko was proud of how far they had come so far...but her children were also quite disobedient, something that she was not proud of at all. She had more recently tried to detach herself from them a bit more, to go out on her own without her whelps constantly traveling along behind her to try and teach them more independence. But no matter what hour she went out and no matter where she went, the pups would try and follow regardless of what she told them.

It was Severus that heard the howl first. He popped out of the brush surrounding Naniko, shouting to her. "You hear that, Ma? You hear it? Someone's nearby!" He yelled loudly. Naniko put her hand to her forehead, shaking her head at him. Did he not understand that silence was one of the best weapons in the arsenal of a pack wolf? They could have had the element of surprise and have had some time to observe the newcomer and their behavior before approaching. Now all of that was dashed because of his loud mouth. "Quiet, boy!" She hissed beneath her breath, reaching a paw out to knock him on the head. "You've just revealed our location. Either be quiet and follow me, or go home...because I won't put up with it again." She warned.

The pair crept closer to the borderline. Severus made himself shorter like his mother, crouching down on his four legs. Naniko normally remained in her optime form and it was this form that she was occupying today. She found it much more useful to have thumbs and to be able to use the human objects that she held so dear. Without the rod that she had, fishing would be much more difficult...and all of her weapons would be next to useless without thumbs to help her maneuver them. She laid the rod down, leaning it up against a nearby tree as they came out of the brush toward the newcomer. She looked to Severus, clearing her throat to prompt him to speak. He could address this child - he was the Angela's son, and needed to learn how to do such things anyway. The boy stepped forward toward the other pup, keeping his posture cautious. "Who are you? And what are you doing on Anathema pack borders?" He questioned before looking back for affirmation from Naniko.

@Aoi: You play Frodo Silvertongue as well, right? I must give you an internet fist-bump for being a fellow LOTR fan.

@Naniko: Argh, you beat me to it! I hope it’s all right that I join you guys.

The snow felt like clouds as Finn raced over it, leaping so high and so far she felt like she could fly. Alastair kept easy pace beside her, his lean legs moving through the drifts rather than over in great puffs of white. The two were in high spirits, for just yesterday Finn had been promoted. A great grin was practically nailed to her face, for it did not waver, even at the blistering speeds that made Finn’s eyes water and throat burn with the cold air that flooded down it. Promoted! Her! And now she was a Tuyul! It was hard to contain such happiness without exploding.

Laughing, she shouldered into Alastair, watching him almost crash into a tree as a result. However, his revenge was swift, and she found herself almost dancing as she ran while he tried to trip her up with his long antlers. It was bizarre, how a wolf and a deer could become so close, almost like siblings, but then again, they weren’t exactly the average specimens of their species. Besides, their friendship had long ago been forged in the fires of adversity, and it had only grown stronger with time.

The timorous howl that rose through the chilled, afternoon air drew Finn’s attention almost instantly. It came from the border, and it was unfamiliar in timbre and pitch. Alastair heard it too, as evidenced by his turned head and intent gaze. As one, wolf and deer turned towards the sound, racing through the barren trees of the Dampwoods at breakneck speed. Finn could see the crows of the pack fluttering overhead like scraps of fabric in the wind, some moving in the same direction, others away. Naniko would know soon enough that they had a visitor, if she didn’t already. Just before she broke into the clearing, Finn paused, Alastair stopping beside her.

“Just so whoever they are don’t try and take a snap at you,” She muttered, placing her paws on his side and reaching up to secure and arrange the red ribbon tied in the deer’s antlers. It was a marker, a warning, that this deer was valued for something other than an easy meal, and Finn intended to keep it that way as long as they were friends. Task accomplished, she returned to for paws and trotted out to meet the new arrival, Alastair close at her heels. She couldn’t help the slight start of surprise at seeing how young the wolf was. As predicted, Naniko was already there, along with one of her sons

Seeing no reason to interrupt, Finn leaned back on her haunches a comfortable distance, watching the scene with alert and interested eyes. It seemed that Severus was being taught a lesson in leadership. Finn rather liked Naniko’s brood, they were children, being exactly as they should be. Finn couldn’t remember ever considering her own youth a “childhood”, so it was nice to see someone doing something right. Should the Angela glance her way, Finn was ready with a respectful bow and a grin, but she did not speak so as to distract the youngling from his task. Put at ease by the familiarity of the two pack wolves, and the small size of the newcomer, Alastair stepped a little closer, snuffing at Aoi with his large, black nose.

*internet fist bumps Pysch*! That would be correct! word count: 707

Once the howl was readily completed, she tucked her anguished muzzle away, pulling it towards her chest, snuffling in the warm, wispy fur. Her coat was very thick and warm, soft to the touch. Dark almost everywhere, a patchwork of browns, greys, and Merle blues, while pure white on her face. Her face was so pale compared to the rest of her it was extraordinary, and the dark, dark brown eyes set even more contrast. The shy girl turned a full, nervous circle, pacing in a line before settling down again. But still she was on edge, nibbling at her fur and tensing her tail.

It wasn't long before she heard voices. The small femme cocked both fluffy ears and tilted her head, brazen pools intent on the strangers she was to fall victim too. Who would be the death of her? Who would be the approaching murderer? She stiffened her little body and started muttering to herself, flaxen face looking pallid as chalk, cheeks prominent in her hunger. The pup gave a start to see two figures approaching from the beyond. One looked about her size, but she still wouldn't trust him. The other female must have been the tallest wolf she had ever seen. Aoi resisted the urge to back into a nearby tree, and instead stood her ground. From her sitting position, she untucked her legs and defiantly looked the approaching pup in the eye, her guard up and posture stooped. Wobbling a little on frightened paws, her deep eyes bore into the floor as the pup asked her something. She would never hold a gaze for long, too humble and shy as she was.

Aoi's mind went blank. She didn't like talking, it gave too much away. It was much better to stay silent. But it wasn't one of those times where she could just ignore and forget. This was important. She searched her fragile pup-mind in a quest for something she couldn't remember, and then suddenly she remembered it. I'm... I'm I'm I'm... her voice was barely audible, an incoherent whisper. But she braved herself, she would not be shown up! I'm Aoi Itou. she finally declared, and her eyes flamed. Her eyes suddenly darted away from the ground and met a third stranger, approaching with a red deer. Her eyes lit up for once, at sight of the deer. She favoured low speech to the high. An odd quality with a pup so young. She gave a weak smile in the direction of the deer and then fell serious again, her gaze now on Severus. She tried to remember what else he had asked her... and then remembered. Mother's dead. Miwa's gone. she finally tried, her voice weak for a moment. Aoi's accent was odd, not the usual Canadian that most sounded like, but it was more English, and her pronunciation was uncannily mature. She ran her words long and flowing, and sounded a bit mighty; as if it was blue blood that ran through her veins. I am looking for Alaki. Mother knew him. He might.... she was about to say what she had been thinking for a while, that Alaki could be the father she didn't know about, the father that her sister Miwa was sent to live with, but if she was wrong that would be overly embarrassing. Instead, she tried a different route. He might let me stay with him. she muttered, her gaze still trailing on the floor.

The girl broke into a very large grin when the deer came closer, snuffling with his black nose. She reached up her muzzle and let a pink tongue loose, trying to lick the large nose in an altogether tender affair. If they had deer as pets, and not as food, she might like this pack! She really might! Her eyes sparkling, she looked up at all three wolves, suddenly desperate. Oh, please let me stay! Oh please! she flickered her gaze between all three of them. I like deer! she added, as if that might sway the argument. I'm also very manure for my age! she finally said, not knowing her mistake. She might have been intelligent, but she couldn't help getting words mixed up now and again.

WC: 592AT has become considerably cooler with the addition of Psych, and now it'll be even better when we get our Danny >Big Grin Also, the next step is that they can just accept her into the pack, since she is family. She's testing Finn's knowledge of basic pack procedures ;o

She stood patiently, waiting for Severus to finish his sentence. Hopefully this experience would teach the boy something; each of her three sons had their own quirks, and Severus was not without certain qualities himself. Judas was the worst troublemaker of the three...he would set the other two off and bring them all into a world of trouble. Severus and Octavius seemed to be more of "followers", but when they got started in something they were hard to calm back down. Out of all of them, she put the most faith in the gray boy in front of her. He was mischievous, but also willing to try and learn how to do things around the pack and help out. She would teach him anything that he wanted to know, as long as he didn't give her too much of a headache over it all. And as long as he was good and would vow to try and not get into as much trouble.

Naniko turned at the rustling of leaves behind her, catching sight of the familiar pack member Psych and her deer companion. She gave her a smile and a nod - she was glad to see the new Tuyul taking an active role in the pack, helping her to greet joiners. By all means, the two could learn together. She didn't want to make it appear that they were ganging up on the girl, but the Anathemans weren't hostile toward outsiders unless shown disrespect...which she was not seeing here. So this would be a peaceful gathering.

The girl's story came out in a rush. She listened carefully to her words, coming down to a crouch so that she could be more at the pup's level. She wasn't the nicest canine in the lands, but she had reasons for the things that she said and things that drove her actions in most cases. She could be soft-hearted, especially around pups and those who were family members of existing pack members. It seemed that the girl had come looking for Alaki. Severus looked back up at Naniko, then to Aoi. "It's ok, Aoi. I don't have a dad that lives around here." He shared. "I'm Severus...and this is my mom Naniko. You said...Miwa? She lives here. And Alaki, too!" He seemed happy to have been able to share some of the good news, his tail wagging behind himself quickly. The boy then looked at Naniko again, wondering what step came next. He felt very sorry that Aoi's mother had died...he knew where his father was, he just didn't live in Anathema with them. But she would be able to talk to her dad, because Alaki was here.

Naniko gave a small cough, noting the girl's misuse of the word "manure" but not saying anything about it. Normally, she would take this time to inquire about the joiner's skills and ask what they would be able to do for her should she allow them in. But because this was a pup who was related to another member of the pack, they could just accept her and be on their way to the caves. The tall female cleared her throat, motioning for Finn to come up alongside them. "You can come up here too, Finn. Either Finn or Severus...what is the next step to joining the pack, since that is the girl's intent? Keep in mind that she is young...and related to Alaki, a current pack member" Her son shrugged, unsure of the answer, and went back to watching Aoi and the deer interact.

Stalking the streets of Wasilla by day, hunting moose through the forests of Alaska by night, watch out! It's Palin the Wolfwere, and she's here for you souullllllssssssss! http://i.imgur.com/XHoLm.png

Finn was struck by a similarity, her mind drifting back in time to the tender age of one. Aoi Itou was the spitting image of her brother, not in looks, but in personality. As long as Finn had known him, Brom had been the quietest, meekest creature ever to tip-toe across the face of the earth. Their father had long given up on Brom being a warrior fit to carry the Fidh name, so he focused all his attention on Aegnus and Finn, ignoring his other son completely. Yet still, even at his shyest, Brom could defuse any scrap that arose between Finn and Aegnus and Brom simply with his sometime almost supernatural serenity.

The she-wolf breathed in the cool winter air, pulling herself back to present. The child’s surname was Itou. From her own words, it could probably be deduced that Alaki was her father, since it was doubtful that her mother would send her somewhere else upon death. Finn’s pleasant smile flickered a moment, slightly overcome by the tragedy this pup had seen. Mother gone and Alaki… not in the best shape at all after the fight with the bear yesterday. Finn did not know the extent of his wounds, but they did look fairly serious. At least her sister Miwa was unharmed.

Still, there was some good here. Finn smiled wider again as she witnessed Severus comforting the girl, and actually chuckled as she watched Aoi try to lick Alastair. The deer snorted, face frozen in that expression of mild confusion worn by animals at such an unexpected action. ”Why does the wee wolf-child lick the face of Alastair!” He rumbled in his particular dialect of low speech, before backing out of slobbery reach. Alastair eyed Aoi with mild consternation, not sure if she was saying hello or trying to see if he’d make a good lunch.

“Are you honestly afraid of her? She’s a wee bairn.” Finn deadpanned, walking past Alastair to sit by Naniko’s side. She listened carefully to her words, before turning her pale eyes on Aoi, considering her. Again, there came the stare, as if she were not only taking in one’s visage, but counting one’s eyelashes, x-raying one’s thoughts, and perhaps even reading one’s D.N.A. Finn had inherited this particular habit from her grandmother, Morrigan Mac Suibhne. Once feared as the toughest wolf that side of the mountains, her flat, soulless silver-coin eyes could draw the truth from a wolf’s mouth just as surely as if she drew blood from their body.

“Well, if she were the same as me, she’d need to make a cut along the bottom of the paw, as would you, Naniko, so as to mingle the blood of the newcomer and the Angela, who is, through this custom, related to all the wolves of the pack.” Finn cocked her head, considering the issue. A child like this would likely never agree to such a violent thing. Finn remembered Brom being particularly averse to pain. Finn of course would have done it in a twinkle, just to feel like part of a family. “But that is not the case here. She is an Itou, like Alaki and Miwa, which makes her family already!” Finn’s pondering expression broke into a wide grin, like clouds being chased from the face of the sun.

There was a simple pleasure found in remembering things correctly. As if each piece of information was a book, brought to it’s summons in an orderly manner. Sometimes Finn did indeed feel like a library on legs. She could remember how many clouds there were as the sun went down on the Rocky mountains five years ago. She could remember every story she had been told, sometimes even before she could hear. She remembered every smell, every colour, every word. To some this might seem incredibly intimidating, as if such a great, dammed, scintillating river of information could one day break free. But to Finn, this was just life as usual.

Here, the she-wolf paused again, looking to Naniko for the final word. She knew it was not her place to say whether a wolf were welcome or not, even if it was quite clear what Naniko’s judgement would be. So she would be the second to welcome Aoi to Anathema, and Alastair the third with a little bit of prodding. Perhaps urging the deer to act a little friendlier to the pup would do her good. She did seem to like him, after all. Finn translated all of this sentiment this into an inscrutable stare at the back of Alastair’s neck. The deer shivered and glanced over, before shrugging in a miffed manner as if to say, ”Fine, I’ll do it I guess, but you’re not really making me.” Finn rolled her eyes. Perhaps the girl could teach Alastair some manners while they were at it.

Eyes flaked with innocence, her expression was flustered when Severus spoke to her. Aoi looked up at him with some admiration, and his comforting words made her feel a little more at ease. The only reply she could give was a shy smile. So they both didn't have a parent around...that was something in common. Though the way he said it, she was sure that his father was still alive. Her mother wasn't. She missed her mother dearly, as Noir had been the only role model she'd had in her life, despite Noir doing terrible things. When Aoi grew older, and she began to understand more, she'd realise that what her mother did was terribly wrong. She had children purposefully when she knew she was months from death, to carry on her lines. She knew she was going to die but she had pups all the same, abandoned Miwa and let Aoi watch her die.

Miwa lived here? Recognition, surprise, and ultimately relief flashed through her dark chocolate eyes, and putting two and two together, she realised what must only be the truth. Alaki lived here also, for sure now, confirmed by Severus; and Miwa must have been sent to live with him. So her father wasn't just a ghost, a phantom figure. He was real; she knew that now. Alaki's my father, isn't he? she looked at Severus, and then to his mother who was now introduced as Naniko, and finally to Finn, as if they had the answers. After a pause, the young jackal wolf probed further. Do I look like him? she was well built and tall for her age, with a broad chest and long legs. Her dark fur seemed common to her, and when she saw herself she didn't like what she saw, but she'd love it if a part of her came from her dad.

After licking the face of the red deer, and the reaction she got, she became quite hurt. A very sensitive girl, she stared at the deer as he backed away, muttering something in low speech. Alastair was his name, she learnt. Because Aoi like Alistair, of course. she snorted back. Once her sister had been abandoned, she'd become a lone child of sorts, and deer and rabbits and other low-speakers had become her only friends. She was only just getting the gist of it, but she could speak in short, clipped sentences at least. Her gaze flickered to Finn and she gave a thankful smile, though meek it was all the same.

Her gaze now slipped between Naniko and Finn. As Finn approached closer, as summoned by Naniko, she took a slight step back; but the distance was not because she thought the others to be hostile. Simply preferring personal space, her short ears flopped down on her head and she locked eyes on the two women as they decided something about her. The cut on her paw aspect made her eyes narrow, but she wouldn't have objected if the cut had been necessary. If it was what was good for her, the child would have accepted without doubt. What was a little pain, when if not accepted into the pack, she would die by herself? At her young age, she needed a parental figure to look after her, else she'd either die or become hard and void of emotion. I'm not an oprhan... was the one thought that ran through her head. She grinned to herself eagerly, glad of the new found knowledge. Finn refered to her as an Itou, as family, and it was all she could do not to squeal with delight. She'd be one to hold family very dear as the time went on. It seemed now, that all she needed was confirmation from Naniko. She assumed Naniko was the leader; top dog, and that was why Finn seemed to look up to her. Aoi secretely hoped she was nice enough to let her stay with her family.

WC: 1,605TL;DR :3 Welcome to the pack!

The fact that her darker packmate had a deer for a friend didn’t bother the Angela. A rather odd assortment of canines had made their way to the borders, and the number one value that Naniko held strong was that a canine could only be judged by their current actions, not the actions of their past. This was why she accepted nearly everyone into the pack…she believed that they could change if they wanted to, and if they didn’t…well that was fine, too. Even the bad boys needed a place to call home, and she had been some sort of leader for long enough to know how to handle them when they got rowdy. From what she knew, Finn was tame compared to some of the canines who had come to seek refuge in Anathema. She already enjoyed the dark female’s company, and was sure that she would continue to enjoy it as time went on. Naniko tried to get along with everybody that she could, but there were some who got on her nerves fairly easily or who she would not willingly hang around. With how busy she was, she enjoyed having little bits of time to herself when she could catch them…and spent time with those most important to her when she was able to.

As long as her pack members were loyal and did not give her a reason not to trust them, they would be welcomed. Her current members were hard working and hearty – she’d take a loyal group of those over some prissy, whiny little do-gooders any day. She’d gotten enough of that when she had led Crimson Dreams. The female knew what it felt like to be unwanted and exiled, and she tried her best to provide a safe home for those who came from oppressive backgrounds. There were some things that occurred in Anathema that would not be as welcomed in other places, like drug use and some minor violence. She saw it as a way for the pack to kick back and relax…as well as an outlet for some occasional rage and bad moods. Everybody needed a chance to de-stress at times. And normally the canines didn’t harm each other in major ways…just a minor shove or whack over the head to keep each other in line. The tiers were set so that one canine would lead the others and share their skills…a form of delegation on Naniko’s part. She did not have the knowledge that those pack members would build up while in the lower tiers, and would rely on them to keep her informed about what they were learning.

Things had been very different when she had lived in other packs. Her birth pack of Chimera had been much like Anathema, with darker ways and darker characters running about. It had been the pack of the D’Angelo and de le Poer families until the Great Move. That was what Naniko called it in her head, the move that had taken her parents away from her as a puppy. They’d left her for bigger and better places, her sister disappearing not long after that. One day they had all been there, one big happy family…and the next morning she had awoken to find them gone without a trace. Not even a bone or scrap of meat left behind. Her adopted father Physe had taken control, then, becoming the Alpha for a short time before merging the pack together with Syemv to create Aremys. This was all within the span of a year. After her parents had gone, Naniko had ended up in a pack called Clouded Tears; a female from there had found her by chance, and the grizzled, grump of an Alpha had allowed the puppy to stay. Without him, she didn’t know what kind of life she would be leading now. He had showed her that with discipline and a strong will, one could make anything happen.

She had changed much since her puppyhood, but her life in Anathema was great and things seemed to be working out for her just the way that she was. She had hoped to start the pack on the idea that anyone would be welcomed, and had made a promise to herself that she would try not to change or conform to any ideals or beliefs that she had not properly researched or thought about. It had seemed that in past packs, there were certain rules that were put into place or things that were done without much rhyme or reason to them. She wanted to be a clear and concise leader, for the members to know exactly what was right and what was wrong…and where the line was set between them. Naniko hoped that she was being a good leader to the pack and that they all enjoyed living with the few rules and regulations that she and Alaki enforced. Naniko thought of herself as a fair canine, not one to jump to conclusions or blame someone for something without much evidence. Other packs were not the same. In Crimson Dreams, she’d been exiled from the pack in her greatest time of need because of the drugs that she had been taking. No helping hand, no rehabilitation…just the option to immediately quit the drug (which honestly was not possible, for one had to taper down from it) or leave. So she had left.

Naniko snapped back into the present in the blink of an eye, shaking her head to rid herself of her unwanted muses. She hoped that they would be able to get this Aoi girl to Alaki soon and that she would not be too upset about his condition…he was still recovering from the bear attack. For a while, the pups had told her that he had looked bad and that they had thought he would die…but she did not think that that was the case – he was not dead, just healing. Sometimes her children took things out of proportion and exaggerated quite a bit. Naniko was doubly glad that Alaki would recover. Not only because of his daughter, but because she did not want to have to try and replace a sub-leader for the third time. Another reason was that Alaki, though he was even more stubborn and bull-headed than herself…was kind of a friend to her. They worked together to get things done for the pack and she worried about his well-being. It was a mutual thing, where they would each try to help the other if and when they could. Of course, each one could only offer certain types of help and Nani knew not to try and stretch his boundaries (she had never asked him to pup-sit, for example) but as far as pack matters went, they had each others’ backs. "You look enough like him, child...around the same coloration. He's a bit bigger and more angry-looking, though, I think. I don't see any way that he could not be your father, with the same last name." She said, answering the girl's query about the way that her father and she looked.

Finn was correct in her assessment of the child, and Naniko gave her a rare smile paired with a nod. ”You are right, Finn.. Aoi, please follow us back to the caves – I can take you there, but I am unsure if your father will be ready for visitors just yet. He protected my children and Miwa from a bear attack recently…and I have not been able to check on the progress of his healing yet. He may still be unconscious.” She said, trying to warn the female of the sights that she might come across once they got the caves. ”But welcome to Anathema. You’ll be ranked as a young one until the day comes when you can move into the adult ranks. Then you will be able to pick a rank tier and choose what you want to do with yourself while you’re here.” Naniko explained. She hoped that the child would find the caves comfortable…perhaps she would be able to catch up with Miwa and stay with her while their father rested. ”If you do not want to live in the caves, you do not have to…but It is recommended, especially in winter. You look skinny enough already without having to live outside.”

She turned to pad away from the group that was gathered there, motioning for them all to follow her. ”I will lead you to your father’s den, and Severus can show you where we keep the supply of meat. The adults and Zepars of the pack hunt and store meat for the children and elders – we try to hunt more than what we can eat so that we can store some of it and have enough to live on for a little while should we get snowed in at any point during the winter. I’d like you to try and relax once we get there…try and regain your strength and make sure that you are eating plenty.” She would have her son watch out for Aoi for these first few days. It would be beneficial for both her and the new pup, as her son would have something to do and wouldn’t be following her around all the time…and Aoi would have her own personal guide to the caves of Anathema. She walked at a pace Severus could keep up with, padding briskly back toward the Howling Caverns. As she walked she cleared her throat, speaking once more to Finn. ”Good job, today. I hope to see you on the borders more often.”
