Angel's in the stables and then goes to the hollow ruins, bird thread prompt

Angel petted Maduixa's snout absently as he stared down at the cross in his hand, the chain of which hung around his neck, a dull contrast to his pitch coal fur. The strawberry roan stallion at his side bowed his head to drink and Angel saw this as his chance to move away, loosen his interest in the mindless affection he was being given. He considered silently, as he busied himself with various tasks (namely fetching hay for Ana's horse and tidying what he could), that 'Maduixa' was a highly unimaginative name. Especially given that he belonged to his sister, who was a notorious drama queen with an equally distinct imagination. Angel found his work trivial and short lived, for the stable was relatively tidy today and there was nothing aside from that for him to do.

So he moved on, suggesting a short walk before returning to the mansion, to himself. The Catalan hybrid had no singular destination planned and was unsurprised when he found himself at the hollow ruins. Several of the birds roosted in the trees and on the tree stump and as he inspected the glassy eyes regarding him, Angel turned to his bag and retrieved a rabbit. He had planned to eat it himself but the bird's paid a great service to the clan. He paced over to the stump, slitting the rabbit's stomach and setting it down before a group of the dark creatures. They shuffled back as he presented the meat and Angel, as proud and brave as he was, felt unsettled by their gazes. 'Here you go' he said dully, unable to think of anything else to say. Nothing that would make him sound thick at least. There was an odd silence, a moment of nothing, before the eerie shadows tore open the rabbit and began to feast.

While Symera hadn't bothered to make too much of an introduction of herself to her fellow clan mates it didn't mean that she had been idle. While she didn't play the social game that others seemed to do she had still maintained her rank. After all a good number of the newer skulls that lined the borders, having been placed there to replace those that were old or broken, were due to her. They were due to her obsession with genocide. She believed that wolves were akin to the devil incarnate and therefore needed to be wiped from the face of the earth. In her opinion they were all horrible monsters and nothing more. And for that very reason the only fate that the whole lot of them deserved was death.

Symera had wandered out to the borders at the far edge, the one opposite of where the mansion was, of Inferni in order to inspect the skulls there. She was checking for signs of age and damage to figure out how many would need to be replaced. She had already brought one, seeing as she couldn't travel this far out and not have a purpose in mind, to replace one of the cracked skulls. She had taken the old one down and fitted it atop her head only to place the still bloody skull in its place.

She was on her way back towards the mansion, still with the sun bleached and weather worn wolf skull atop her head, when she heard the sound of a voice coming from a nearby forested area. She had yet to explore the sub-territory, though she had passed it by often enough when making her way towards the borders. So to actually hear someone in there had her vaguely curious. Who was it and who were they talking to? Also, what was it that was being given away. Staring out through the eye holes of the skull she eased her way through the trees until she reached the clearing where she found a male and some birds.

She wasn't certain what was going on but held her tongue. She was more the type to observe and then if she couldn't figure it out on her own would she finally ask. Such is just what she was doing now and what she figured out was that the male was watching the birds but she didn't know for what purpose. What was so interesting about watching something else eat? Slowly, and still silently, she moved over to stand next to the male. Perhaps if she was able to view it from his vantage point then perhaps she would figure out just what made the display so interesting. What was it about the feasting of scavengers that made them unable to be looked away from? But then again Symera had no idea that others in the pack used them for their vigil. The only animal that she knew of to be an asset to Inferni were the rats that she helped to care for.

The birds were voracious eaters, with little remorse, nor any mercy for the rodent before then. Angel considered that this was a simpler way of living, caring little for your prey. But Angel followed the word of God and therefore believed causing the death of another was a sin, even when hunting. But the latter was more excusable, and so simple thanks was all it too to seek forgiveness from God. After all, every shard of life was important to the world. The bee pollinated the plants, which fed the rabbit, which fed the wolf. Simple, just the way he liked it. But Angel supposed that these birds didn't bother themselves with human ways of life, preferring a older, more feral way of life.

While he mused over the birds someone crept in beside him. The Spaniard almost didn't notice her, concentrated too closely on the feeding frenzy before him. When the dark hybrid finally did notice her he stopped and looked down. It was almost a double take. 'Morning' he said simply, taking in her appearance before turning back to the show. Angel wasn't disinterested in his fellow clan mates, but there wasn't much else to say aside from his basic greeting. Yet it didn't feel right greeting someone in English, but he did so either way.

Symera hadn't been fully introduced and immersed into religion. Or at least not the religion that Angel upheld. To kill was to live. And well, if it was killing a wolf then it wasn't a murder but was a favor as it rid the world of one more disgusting monster. the only thing that would be considered murder was to kill another coyote. It was only murder when you killed your own and nothing apart from that. Everything else was just the way of life. That view made things so much simpler. After all, if you didn't kill then you didn't live. Especially when they lived in a kill or be killed world. Symera thought that if you were unable to kill then you were weak and that meant that you would be picked off soon enough.

"Good morning." The greeting was returned easily enough. If it had come in any other language besides English then Symera would have been unable to understand it. She had always lived in the area, even before she was a part of Inferni she had lived near it. So yes, this was the only landmass that she knew about and the language spoken by most everyone was the only one that she knew. She had never been introduced to the concept of foreign lands and foreign languages before.

It took a bit after her returned greeting before Symera chose to finally speak up again. "Why are you watching them when they are doing nothing but eating?" She would assume that was an act that would be known all about as the male was alive to this day. Certainly he had to know exactly what it looked like to eat since he had to do so himself. And if he didn't, then well... how was he still alive?

Angel's ears flickered at the question. He'd considered the idea in his head but never really come to a set decision why on earth he was staring at a load of hungry birds. He tilted his head to the side, pendants on his chest swinging loosely as the movement of his neck upset them. Icy blue orbs swivelled to regard the girl, before glancing back to the birds, who by now had practically sawn through the rabbit. 'No reason. Just thinking of a few things' he said, giving her a brief, dull smile before it departed and he went back to his thoughtful frowning.

Perhaps killing without prayer was the way a wolf was meant to live. Angel had considered it once, after all what had his family, what had anyone had before succumbing to human's influence? He was intelligent enough to answer that one himself. Nothing. It was quite obvious if one looked to whatever history books one could find. Wolves, coyotes, jackals, dogs were all stupid considering the power they held claim to now. This epiphany didn't mean he'd change his ways, far from it, but it gave himself something to consider. Angel would never let his faith slip, it simply wasn't an option for him. Religion was the one consistent entity in his life, and while he upheld it would never fail him, he cast a blind eye to the times it had.
