Milite move wearily beneath his rider, and the rider sat wearily on top. Both were exhausted from the long journey from Freetown and glad to reach the borders. Tony had let Mil ride light, using the horse he intended to gift to his father to store his metalworking things and other random supplies. They were brother's both of a similar height and build with the only difference being their pelt colours. Both had a similar temperament, though Mil was definitely the more hot headed of the pair. He was stubborn and a bit of a dick sometimes but Tony had manage to whittle these incidents down to a rare occasion. Originally, he'd chosen the pair for their size. But found an added gift, he seemed a lot like Jazper.

Tony halted the horses, wiggling slightly in his saddle. 'Looks like we're here guys' he said, not really speaking to the horses. How long had it been? A few months maybe? As brave and tough as he portrayed himself to be, he could not admit to himself that he was shaking in his boots. His dad was an alpha now and he couldn't shake the oddness revolving around respecting his father above the usual parent child submission and respect. Letting out a songful howl, he bit hip lips nervously as he waited.

There was snow on the ground now, though snowfalls seemed to be few and far between this winter. It was almost nice to have the white fluff lining the ground again in a soft cushion under his feet. The leader had always enjoyed the gentle crunch as he placed down his paws. Today he moved on two feet, his bear fur cloak the only clothing on his body as he had felt particularly lazy that morning and decided against covering up, as he planned on seeing no one outside of the pack.

They were quite small in numbers now, but Jazper was not too concerned. The members they did have were very helpful around the lands and particularly nice canines. They had a good variety of skills among them as well: warriors, fisherman, and animal lovers. Together they managed just fine as a pack taking care of the horses and working on the inside of buildings. In the Spring Anann and Jazper planned on having the pack build stables for the horses as well as a barn for other livestock. Kingsbury looked far nicer in the spring and summer anyway so what better time for renovations.

A familiar call floated on the air, causing Jazper to spring in the direction of the owner, cape flapping behind him. Why was Tony here? Had something happened to Ghita and Aro? As far as Jazper knew the three were in Italy by now so why was Tony still here? As fast as his large body could move he came into view of his chocolate son, slowing to a stop. His golden eyes wandered over him, searching for scratches. “Well,” He spoke with a smirk, “are you going to sit on top of that damn horse all day or are you going to come give your father a hug?” He never liked looking up to canines that insisted on sitting on top of horses. Heck he didn’t even care for horses, though they were good enough for working, and here was Tony on top of one and leading a second. But no matter how old the boy got Jazper would insist he was never old enough to stop hugging his father.

Tony had been caught surprised by his father's scent and the sound of a person at a fast run before that. Looking up with his ochre eyes, a powerful beam appeared on his face. 'Dad!?' he called, broad Scottish tones hanging in the air. He laughed childishly at his father's words and vaulted down from Mil, landing next to him with a thump. Tony had grown since he had last seen his father and now stood a mere few inches below his father. The snow came as a shock to his paw pads, who had been nestled in the warm hoops of stirrup, but it didn't stop Tony leaping forward. 'Dad!' He saw Jazper's eyes sail over him, obviously wondering what had happened and why he wasn't in Italy. The horse's behind him stayed where they stood as their rider moved away.

The young male embraced his father with great force, 'Dad! How have ya bin?' he asked, stepping back and smiling. Tony gestured loosely to the horses behind him, 'Ah got ya a present'. He flicked his head back around he redirected his arm to the white and black splatter one, 'Th' white 'un' he explained simply. He looked back to his father and smiled, 'How's Fia? An' Enzo?' he asked, more compassion and worry in his voice when he queried about his sister as opposed to his brother.

‘Dad’ the word suited Jazper well. There was no job more important to him than taking care of his pups, even though they weren’t pups anymore. As Tony swung off the horse a massive grin spread across his face and he held the young man tight for as long as his son would allow before he pulled back and inquired about his life. Before he could spit anything out the dark male kept asking question after question, much to Jazper’s amusement as he had once done the same thing to Lucifer many a time in his younger days. His boy was still a pup in his mind but clearly he was an adult now, more than a year old and having already been tossed into the havoc that is war. The alpha would give anything to change the fact that his sons and daughter knew the pain of war but it was not something that was up to him.

He glanced to the horses as Tony’s hand swung to gesture at them, his face dumbfounded. Why on Earth would he need a horse? Casa di Cavalieri had too many of the beasts as far as he was concerned, but he dare not speak against what his son believed to be a goof gift. “I’m good Tony, I’m good and thank you for the gift. I will make sure it is well taken care of.” He chuckled, still amused by the numerous questions. “Lorenzo is still settling in I think. He will need some more time to figure out what he’s doing with his life. Fia, however, has a young man after her who is determined to be her mate, and her his. He has my permission so don’t you go pestering him too much.“ He warned, golden eyes giving a stern look, “Gunnar is a good boy, hard worker. Best leave any disputes to a spar.” It had always been his solution to the boys bickering, if you can’t sort it out fight it out but don’t damn well hurt each other too bad.

Finally he asked, “What of Ghita and Aro? Why are you here boy and not in Italy with your mother?” It worried him that Tony had not gotten on the boat but as his son showed no concern he was to assume that all was well until told otherwise. Still a smile remained on his face as he was happy to see Tony. The real question was why hadn’t he gone, what had held him back? Jazper knew very well that, although Tony loved him very much, his boy was a mama’s boy through and though. He had spent much of his puphood crying to his mother and demanding her attention so why come to his father now?

Tony's such a hypocrite XD 500+

Tony could clearly see his father was confused by the horse, which was primarily why he had bought it alongside his own. Mil had been brought because Tony had no wish to carry all his supplies while he walked God knows how far back home. Patting the horse's neck softly, he chuckled, 'Eh, you'll learn th' love it'. His cheery disposition change however, when Lorenzo's name was mentioned. Needing more time to settle in? More time to figure out what he's doing? 'Ha, always was th' one t' arse 'bout' he commented plainly, malice sprinkled lightly over his words. When Jazper continued, Tony heard something he didn't particularly want to. 'Want?!' he shouted, clearly confused, 'But, but. How could you let her? She's to young!' he argued, but there was little he could do about it, so he pouted sharply (and childishly) and moved on. He'd have to have a meeting with this 'Gunnar' sometime.

The chocolate coloured boy thought for a moment, thinking of how to answer the question. 'Eh. Mum tol' me 'bout th' place. Din' sound too nice. So ah hopped of th' boat an' walked back up th' Freetown. Stayed there for a while, y'know, then ah got a horse an' rode back up here' Tony explained, peaking out from the thick fringe over his eyes. 'An' dun' worry about 'em. When ah left they were fine' he added, his voice then turning sour. 'Aro tried th' make me stay. Tryna' be th' big boy that's gonna protect us y'know. Well, ah told him t' bugger awff, said ah was old enough t' make ma own mind up. Ha, din' argue wi' that, I can tell you' Tony retold, clearly amused by to past goings on. 'Helluva long walk though, ah can tell ya dat' he chuckled. Tony lifted his arm up to rub the back of his neck, nervous about what he was going to say next. 'An', well. Um... Ah was wundrin' if y' wouldn't mind me stayin' 'ere. Y'know, like permanent?' What he was saying was, that he wanted to stay with his Dad. His mother was gone and he had no wish to live a loner's life, or go back to Crimson Dreams.

He didn't know much about this place. He didn't know whether his mother knew, but decided against telling him. Or whether she was in the dark about this place too. 'What's this place like then?' he queried. To him it sounded dumb to join a pack he knew nothing of, what if it totally contrasted with his views? His morals? What then? He have to join, his whole family was here. Save for his Aunt, Uncle and cousins of course, but his close family all resided in this one tiny stretch of coast. Tony would be forced to join by his own wish to stay near his loved ones. And Lorenzo of course. Couldn't forget the trickster. Tony still couldn't believe that Enzo had said what he had said. Of course he was bossing him around, Tony was the eldest, he was obliged to.

Tony believed that his father could learn to ‘love’ a horse but Jazper was of a different mind. He agreed that they were useful but he didn’t for the life of him understand why anyone loved the beast, they were for food or work that was all. Still he would accept the gift well enough. Shaking his head the Scotsman sighed, Your brother just needs more time is all. He’s a good worker but he needs to find a hobby. Some wolves grew up knowing what they wanted to be, like Tony and Aro, others had to find their way, like Enzo, Fia and Sophia, the father knew this all too well enough and would always accept his children for who they where, regardless of skill.

Ready ears listened than began to ignore his dark furred son as the complaints, the he knew all too well were going to come, started rushing out of his mouth. Although he understood the boy’s complaints he refused to give into them, She’s young yes but I had my first mate around her age before she left me. He had never told his son of his previous lovers, not because he was hiding the fact that he had cared for another fae that was not Ghita but because it has not come up in conversation. We all make mistakes Tony. It’s the best way to learn. And besides, you never know if you’ll come to me in a months time with a pretty girl on your arm. There was simply no telling want would happen at any given time and Jazper was one who preferred to go with the flow than to constantly fight against it.

Tony’s story about Ghita and Aro and Italy was interesting enough, but held the fathers attention only long enough to hear that they were safe and Aro was well. Instead of scolding his middle son the Knight simply chuckled at his complaints about Aro, would he never realize that he caused his own problems? He may be a year old but he had many years left before he would learn to keep his pride away from family matters. It was a surprise to hear that he wanted to stay in Casa and the large brutes eyebrow could not help but rise at the request. With a moment of silence he motioned for Tony to follow him into the territory, Of course of course. He reassured with a large grin and a soft accent. We all live in an old human fort, fort Kingsbury, for a safe haven. My goal is to get a group willing to fight for peace among the packs. A pack of hard workers who pride themselves on pack relations as much as our skills as warriors. Turning to look at his son he added, Though we never turn away someone willing to lend their skills to our cause. We even have a couple of animal lovers in our ranks that tend to the horses. Every paw helps.

Tony shook his head, gazing off into the distance. Did no one understand? 'No. Enzo needs t' find himself something t' do or he'll be wasted. We're nearly adults now...' he warned softly, as if he actually knew anything about life. Truth was Tony was arrogant and sometimes believed he knew everything when he knew nothing, at times it was amusing to watch and at others irritating beyond belief. The chocolate warrior slash blacksmith boy just wanted to be like his Dad and for him it meant blowing everything out of proportion and going over the top. Tony never meant to, he just wanted to be a hero.

Tony huffed in annoyance at his father's passiveness towards the situation. He frowned even further when his father mentioned another woman before Ghita. He'd never heard of it and was extremely curious about the story, but nevertheless he didn't ask. He was more focussed on the situation with Fia at the moment. 'Yeah, and look how well that turned out...' he muttered sourly, his mind clouded with thoughts of his sister's mysterious suitor. Tony didn't like it one bit, but as he bit his tongue he decided to deal with things later. After all this was time reserved for his father and him and he wanted to enjoy this reunion as much as he could.

The warrior child beamed as his father, the almighty Alpha of the back gave him permission to join his home. 'Great!' he smiled happily. He had family here now and he was very excited to check out this place for himself. So far it seemed a cool place, by the smell and by his father's words. 'Oh and by the way' he said, brushing his hair out of his yellow gaze. 'It's Tony Marino-Knight now' he explained smiling.

He would not justify Tony’s rambling with an answer. Although he loved his bold son with all his heart Jazper knew that Tony and Enzo did not get along particularly well and that Tony had a habit of feeling the need to be right and boss. Unlike Lucifer, who would have smacked the dark chocolate male for speaking out against his father, the alpha was too kind of heart and believed more in natural consequence. Eventually he would grow up a little more, in a year or so, and look back at his younger days wondering what the heck he had been thinking. Maybe then he would realize that life was not just about having a job, one thing you did well, to offer the pack but about enjoying yourself a little and helping other canines out, regardless of if it was your job description.

As they walked deeper into the lands the Fort became visible in the distance atop a hill. A smile grew on his face as he answered his son, It turned out the way Fenris wanted it to. I have five wonderful children and I have a pack full of canines who want to work to keep peace in the lands and are willing to put forth their own talents to do so. As much as he was pained when his mates left looking back now he knew that this was the path that Fenris had wanted for him. He has living life as a protector of others, a loving father, and a caregiver to his pack.

It was a surprise to hear that the boy had added his own surname to the Marino title, matching Fia’s. Initially his ears perked as a slightly shocked reaction but then they lowered and his face bore a large grin, Well that’s nice. You’re mother would not approve. His tone teasing as the Fort grew larger and larger in their view. Welcome to Fort Kingsbury. His soft Scottish accent filled with joy and pride as he stopped, looking at the large fort before them.
