Quote:The younger male proved just as stubborn as his brother had been, and the princess rose with stiff muscles to stare down at him with dark eyes that were fueled with hate and disgust. Dealing with them, with outsiders, those who would never belong to her family, was frustrating in the highest degree. He was defiant as he spoke. He challenged her. The cruelest smile crossed her black-liked lips, baring off-white teeth and casting her face with darkness. Her fingers curled around the padded palm of her hand, scratching at the red scar of her family heritage. A scar that they couldn't claim, at least not in her mind. That was what proved them wrong. They would never be family.
His speech was met with cold laughter, lacking emotions as he tried to plead his case in his own anger. His outrage amused her, his challenge of her on her own land made her heart race with excitement as she thought of what to show him of their world. She leaned forward on large feet, grounded. "What makes you think you've ever had that right, boy? You come to my home, demanding to know a father that has never had any desire to know you, and you think you still retain rights of blood? Did Gabriel raise you? Did he even try? Has he ever tried to get to know you, or has he left you and your whore mother alone in some other place, where he hasn't shown you love or consideration of who you are?" She knew the answers. No. Gabriel had been a leader to Inferni first, and a father to his eldest twins second, so she knew that other children went ignored by him.
"You and your sibling came here with the illusion that you have rights in our world, to know my father, the man who raised me and showed me that this world is cold and that this world is hateful and that there is no justice for those who can't stomach what happens here. You don't. You never will, no matter what blood you claim in your past. You can't be a de le Poer. You don't have what it takes to be his son, not like Ezekiel is. We're a prince and a princess, and that's lost on the rest of you, who prove failure in your mother's blood, warm and cozy in these places where you're kept safe and content. Where you can't suffer."
She shook her head, knowing he wouldn't understand what she spoke of, and unwilling to explain it to him if he didn't. All that mattered was that he knew now that he couldn't be Gabriel's son, no matter what he tried to do or how long he took to get to know the dark man. Her smile faded. "You should leave before someone stronger than me finds you. Our family doesn't accept your kind, and Gabriel can only save you from some of us."

Quote:She remembered the face of her brother as he told her about the rocks buried beneath the soil -- he was angry, even if it wasn't evident to all. His horse was harmed. Well, the princess cared little for the hulking animal that her brother rode, and her anger in the situation stemmed from the fact that he was upset and that someone inside of their well-formed group had strayed and tried to hurt another member. Fights were different than such subterfuge, so much more obvious, less dangerous. One of the children could have been harmed.

So she took it on herself to find the rest, and knew that help was needed to do it. A call was sent out to find willing participants -- who came was both surprising and unsurprising. Enkiel, a stranger, Symera. She took a deep breath.

"A few days ago, my brother's horse was injured on a trail he uses to watch our borders -- we're going to find whatever other things there are that might hurt our members or otherwise, to prevent that tragedy." She was livid, outraged, but it was hidden in her eyes as she addressed the small party who would help her weed out other trechery. She was no intellectual thing -- she spoke pretty, but Talitha knew so little about practical things, and this would be a feat for her unless one of the present creatures understood them better.

Quote:Cream-mitted fingers rubbed against the sockets of her eyes as his words came full force to explain what he had been keeping hidden -- connections, things he could get for them, people who could rid the world of the nuisances within it. Well, that idea simply made her laugh! They were Inferni, they dispatched their own enemies without worry of the blood on their hands, but she would let him think that was a useful thing if he desired it. It was his next words that truly interested her, for she had seen not a one who was capable of such a thing within her skull-lined walls. Fishing. Ezekiel, couldn't he catch fish? Well, he was it, as far as she was knowledgable. "Fishing. That's a start."
She curled her already curling auburn locks about her fingers as she studied him closer, her frown remaining despite her lack of malice. Again, he spoke, this time in riddles that made her laugh all the louder, a singing sound that was so rarely heard in honest circles these days. "Demons, they call us? Demons. Yes, I suppose we are. But they aren't as unworthy as they seem if they can understand that they need to stay away -- it's the ones who come close who are fools." She motioned faintly to the land around them, remembering the strangers who came to seek a home and then left, or the outsiders who could never hope to find a real place in her world.
But that was past. With a shake of her head, a step to the side, she extended her arm inward to the territory and waited patiently for him to step across the borders. "Welcome to Inferni. I'm Talitha de le Poer, sister to your new Aquila."

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
