Regner, as always, is in Optime. Back-Dated to the 18th.

Birdsong echoed pleasantly in Regner's ears as the large dale strode through the tree cover of the area that the locals called the Etheral Eclipse, though Regner himself had no knowledge of this name. For the past few days Regner had been making his was down here, following the small snatches of scent down towards where he believed another pack to be. However the weather this morning had proved to be much more pleasant than the precedent that had been set for the area.

While Regner himself wasn't overly bothered by the temperature change it did provide an opportunity for Adelle to stretch her legs a bit without getting too cold and so the elderly hybrid had abandoned his focused search in favour of wandering the forest aimlessly at a leisurely pace, letting Adelle direct their travels as the puppy dashed about through the undergrowth, moving constantly with a seemingly endless amount of energy.

Regner took a moment to admire Adelle as she ran, his eyes glinting with pride. Even at her young age Adelle's blood was starting to show through in her size; Adelle was already heads and shoulders above the size of a wolf pup or smaller breed of dog even without the thick, fluffy fur that adorned her, increasing the pups impressive size further.

Of course despite her relative size the pup was still small compared to Regner, the both of them sharing the same blood which granted her size, and while many might have mistaken her for an older pup she was still very much visible as the young dog that she was to Regner, an observation compounded by her current behaviour, racing around trees in chase of some invisible prize that only she could see.

Still, in a way Regner was glad of Adelle's continued childishness. The dog had been worried how the loss of her family other than him would have affected Adelle but it seemed that between her nature and simply being too young to make sense of what had happened Adelle was adapting well, better than him as it was.

At some point he would have to tell her what had happened, explain the situation fully. But that day was many months away, for now he would just let the poor child enjoy what was left of her childhood.

The forest was quickly becoming a place that Skoll longed to visit. He would pass by the border whenever he was free to do so, staring outward at the trees, his spirit thirsting for the wilderness beyond his pack borders. He did not want to leave Cour des Miracles, of course, as his bonds to pack and family where stronger than any silly whim, but he did feel constrained by the scent marks dotted along the borders. The nearest trees actually encroached into pack territory, making the temptation even harder to resist.

Standing on the edge of the forest now, the golden prince whined. It wasn’t so bitterly cold today that his nose burned with the cold, and enough snow had receded to unleash the odors of the stuff buried underneath it: a decayed cypress log, squirrel spoor, the no longer fresh scent of a moose that had passed by. His growing body quivered, and it was all he could do not to burst out of his skin and gallop into the woodlands.

Instead, he glanced around slyly, green eyes searching the hills for signs of his caretakers come to get him. He had been given a bit more privileges to free roam, but that was mostly because the adults hadn’t heard of the past few times he’d slipped just past the borders. He sniffed quickly, able to tell that the boundaries had not been marked for a couple of days; uncharacteristically, he filed this away as an excuse for a fib of not knowing where the territory ended. But, once again, he promised himself he would not go far, and he would not complain if someone found him and asked him to return. He was testing boundaries in his age, trying to see how much dominances others would be willing to hold over him, but deep in his heart he was a good child—just one far too adventurous, his head filled by too many stories.

And so the Prince of Cour des Miracles escaped into Ethereal Eclipse.

It was disturbingly quiet as he loped into the woodlands; he could hear every crunch of snow underfoot. Maybe it was because there were no birds to sing: only the honking of a lone duck flying over the treetops. He tried to chase its shadow but got the dark blot on the ground confused with other shapes, and he ended up smacking his face on a fallen branch. Growling, he attacked the cluster of twigs at its end, tearing a stick off, feeling the texture of the bark on his tongue. Spitting out dirt from the tree, he scampered onward, stumbling over roots hidden by the snow and gasping as a drop of melted snow fell on his nose.

Suddenly, Skoll noticed that his were not the only footfalls echoing through the winter-quiet woods. He blinked and stepped backwards, hoping to hide cleverly from the sounds coming toward him, small bounding thumps as well as the footsteps of someone bigger. He spun in a neat circle and threw himself into the nearest pile of snow, rolling in it until his creamy fur was tipped with frost, lowering the intensity of the color.

What he didn’t notice was the black of his nose and the vibrant green of his eyes were still visible as he stifled his giggles and stared at the approaching beasts.

Regner didn't notice the hiding puppy not because the puppy had hid itself particularly well, but simply because he was too far up to notice it; at over 8 feet tall one tends to miss small details on the ground. Adelle, however, had no such problems. As the puppy saw the odd sight of a pair of eyes and a nose seemingly belonging to a pile of snow the stopped in her tracks, causing Regner himself to stop as his foot knocked into her, and cocked her head curiously.

Creeping forward carefully Adelle gazed at the snow before darting forwards and licking the protruding nose, backing off quickly. The taste and smell provided form being so close told the puppy that there was another canine there and she barked happily, her tail wagging. While the pair had come across several adults on their journey this was the first time in months that Adelle had met another puppy and she was eager to make friends.

Unfortunately her lack of knowledge in English made this somewhat difficult; it had taken Regner a long while to explain to Adelle that she would need to learn a new language, or even the concept of a new language, and she still struggled a lot with English. "He.. Hep… Hellk… Hell-" Adelle pawed the ground, not able to remember the word but knowing that she was getting it wrong. Looking back at Regner the puppy saw her grandfather mouth an "o" noise and spun around happily, "Hello!"

For his part Regner, who had noticed the puppy now that Adelle had brought it to his attention, simply kept his distance and watched, not wanting to scare the pup away before Adelle could play a little, he too recognising that this was the first canine near Adelle's age that she had had contact with in a long time

The prince hid in the snow, narrowing his eyes slyly at the canines coming toward him. He was unsure whether or not he wanted to jump out at them and scare them; his brother and sister sometimes snapped at him in surprise when he pounced out of nowhere, which hurt, and they were only kids like him. No, he’d just watch them and gain intelligence or whatever it was you were supposed to gain during war. Because he was clever.

But then he actually caught sight of the goliath that was the approaching luperci, and he had to fight from gasping. He craned his snow-covered head to stare at the elder, but movement closer to his level snatched his attention. A gold and black puppy was looking at him, and he tried to remain perfectly still until her tongue flicked his nose. He yelped in surprise, backpedaling and dislodging the snow before bursting out into laughter. He was about to growl playfully at her when he remembered the giant grownup, and he froze once he was upright, glancing at the man carefully.

The little girl made noise at him, and Skoll realized that she was trying to speak, though what came out of her mouth sounded odd. Dark flop ears bounced as she looked to her caretaker for guidance, and she finally settled on “Hello.”

The blonde boy beamed at her. “Hello!” he replied in an excited bark, and he jumped toward her to playfully bite one of her dark ears—very gently, of course, as he was getting better at playing with children younger than him. He more or less ignored the watchful grownup, dancing around the pup with his chin high and his tail wagging. “I’m Skoll Haskel,” he said, and his green eyes finally slid to the adult, where he grew sheepish. He supposed he’d offer him a bigger fact than just his name, in case the elder was wondering where he was from and how far away he was from home. “I live ’n Cour des Miracles.” He turned his head to point in the direction of the territory, momentary exposing his neck to the girl.
