For Eris! Tayui ends up in Borgotl Colotl by the Ruins. You can have Eris notice Tayui lurking, see her from the ruins, whatever pleases you c;

After following the ghost into the heart of the territory, Tayui began seeking out Eris' scent. As the sub-leader, everything in Salsola smelled like her. The ghost scouted ahead of her, but since he was no longer connected to the living world, he couldn't smell anything. He was, however, her eyes.

He warned her of something - a cat, he said - which made Tayui wonder if it was one of Eris' cats. Tayui began to follow the cat as it slunk through the territory. Its steps were dainty and careful, indicative of that feline elegance Tayui could never replicate. Tayui followed it as quietly and carefully as she could, but at some point she must have done something to startle it because it streaked off at a blistering pace. Knowing it would look suspicious to follow the cat, she turned to find the ghost coyote and ask him to follow it -- only to find that the ghost had disappeared, too.

She recognized that she was nearing the Ruins where Eris lived. She quietly slunk around the premises, watching one of the entrances from behind the cover of the trees and undergrowth. Her white coat allowed her to blend in with the snow, but even with that natural advantage, she remembered that there were multiple entrances and exits to and from the Ruins. She just hoped she would see Eris before Eris saw her, if Eris was even here.
Eris is by Nat!

The sable coyote had heard the alarm, but she did not race to Salsola's aid. She had her children to think of -- Artemisia, Harrow, and Ataxia were still too young to shift, and Basilaris and Salvador were barely old enough to begin speaking. Molcaxitl, useless as she would be if they were attacked, stood over the elder three girls shivering. Eris had commanded the coyote to put the lives of the children miles ahead of her own, and the slave-girl was frightened. The ruins were oddly quiet -- deserted, even, and the sable woman did not hear anyone moving about the ruins until the sounds of quick footfalls reached her ears.

Itzcitla leaped upon the wall of her abode, standing there and growling toward his master, though the growl was not directed at her. He even spoke a word, garbled and unintelligible as it was to Eris. Attacker, mistress, he says attacker, Molcaxitl babbled, having apparently understood the mangled Spanish that had come from the ocelot's maw. The cat's yellow-green eyes were wide with fear, and his tail flickered back and forth in his extreme annoyance.

Eris stepped from her home, growling low and long. Her lime-colored eyes swept the ruins for signs of the invaders, hoping they did not number too many. Perhaps some of Salsola might realize their Auxiliary was left alone and they would return to her -- this was her only hope of defeating multiple foes, she thought.
She was here. Tayui smelled the woman only moments before she saw her. Eris emerged from the ruins, not in the place Tayui had originally thought, but from them nonetheless. Tayui hunkered down low to watch Eris as she surveyed her surroundings. Tayui realized it was likely only her deathly white coat that kept Eris from seeing her, for there was very little cover nearby. Tayui resisted the urge to move and instead waited for Eris to disappear from sight. She would track Eris by smell, hanging back, until she could safely confront the other woman. She didn't want to engage her near the ruins since there were likely other canines nearby. Her children, too, would be only steps away and Tayui did not want Eris to think that she was after her children. Tayui wanted to see Eris -- not Harrow, Salvia or any of them -- harmed.

Once she thought it safe, Tayui slowly pulled herself to her feet. She streaked after the woman quickly and quietly. Her large paws let her tread over, rather than through, the snow. She followed Eris' scent for a few minutes until she thought she saw a black blur in the distance. Quickly, she hid behind a thin tree, observing from a distance. Stealing a few breaths, Tayui moved on again to find the woman.

"Eris," she called out once she was near. "I've come for you at last."
Eris is by Kiri, a gift from Sylvey!

She stole away from her children, moving toward the coastline and the initial sounds of alarm. She did not wish to draw any attention to her children, and she thought at least a few Salsolians still lurked nearby. No doubt they would keep close eye on her children, and Eris thought Molcaxitl would buy her enough time to return to her children, in any case. The snow crunched beneath her feet, and she tilted her head into the wind and inhaled, smelling the distant scents of Tlantli, Salvia, Miqui, Yi, and strangers -- although, perhaps not all of them. The hybrid inhaled again, more deeply this time. It was too far away to tell -- she'd have to move closer, and perhaps even set her eyes upon these intruders to identify them. She lifted a foot and froze mid-step as a voice called to her by name.

The coyote turned, teeth already bared and chartreuse eyes blazing. There was no confusion on her face as she saw Tayui; the woman's reasoning for being here was of little concern to Eris. She simply knew the other for an intruder and a trespasser now -- the pale woman had left their midst abruptly, and she was no longer welcome here. You're not supposed to be here anymore, she snapped, advancing toward the other canine, who now stood between her and her children. Leave now, and you can live, so long as you avoid our hunters, she commanded, her hackles bristling with the rise of her tail.
Tayui heard her voice echo across the snow and the trees. It faded out quickly, but Eris responded with the quickness and precision of the crack of a whip. When the black hybrid turned, her eyes were already bright with anger and she was snarling. Eris was quick to state the obvious and then demand the unthinkable. Indeed, Tayui was not supposed to be here. As a former member, she shouldn't be coming near this hellhole. But she was not going to simply turn around and let Eris get away with what she had done. She had finally mustered up the courage to come here and had even found a way to balance her revenge with a real cause. Even if she died here tonight, she had hope that the Sequoians might be able to do something good. She didn't want their memory of her to be one of simple confusion.

Eris advanced toward Tayui quickly and snapped at her. Tayui flinched, but didn't back down. Even though she didn't feel very dominate (and certainly, she wasn't) she didn't want to cower. She hadn't cowered in years and she wouldn't do it again: especially not to the murderer of her daughter.

"I'm not going to run anymore Eris," she replied. Her tone was sad and mournful. The first time she'd left Salsola, she had run, but she was tired of running. "I'm exactly where I need to be. I'm here for you." She paused, and then explained: "you murdered my daughter."
Eris is by Nat!

The dark-hued woman had not expected for her command to work. Tayui was no longer of her Family; the pale woman had disregarded their bond and walked away from her brothers and sisters. Perhaps the woman had never truly been a part of them? Eris did not have time to consider these things, though they would certainly haunt her mind in the coming weeks. Instead, she halted several feet from the woman, though she paced a wide semi-circle around the intruder, regarding her with angry yellow-green eyes. She desperately wished she knew how to shoot the bow Hrafn had provided her; as it was, she had no skill with the weapon, and her shot was terrible.

So, what will you do? Kill me? she demanded, stopping her pacing to show her teeth to the woman once more, still hopeful to drive her away with this show rather than engage her in combat. Eris knew she was younger than Tayui, but beyond this advantage of age, she could not say how she would fare -- she was not a fighter and knew little of technique. Her only hope was equal ineptitude on Tayui's part, though even the worst of fighters could still inflict injury. This thought cheered her, and she took another step toward the pale wolf, still hoping to make her break and run.
Every step she took brought her closer to her own destruction and her own salvation. Murdering Eris would be beautiful and clean, but it would likely remove any possibility of "other" after this. There would never be an "other" family or an "other" lover because murdering a pack leader was not something one did lightly. Tayui would like to do so many things to Eris and make her feel so many emotions, but she couldn't make Eris do anything. She couldn't make Eris feel something when all she wanted to do was feel again.

"If I must," Tayui replied. "I don't know," she admitted. "I want you to feel something and know that there's someone out there who knows. I want to know you feel something even though you can barely even live without stealing a dead man's name. I know you're weak, but I want you to know it too." Even though Eris inched closer, Tayui did not back up. She suspected that Eris was trying to close the gap and prepare herself for a fight. If it had to come to that, Tayui would accept it. She had been trained by a number of good warriors: Skoll, while they had been members of Shadowed Sun, and Eris' own mother: a legacy in her own right. Tayui did not know how much Eris knew, but Tayui had fended off attackers -- her brother, a crazed coyote from Inferni, and lived to speak of it. She could only hope that this was enough to get her through this ordeal alive.
Eris is by Requiem!

Feeling. Hadn't she felt? She had felt for Shibboleth and Solanaceae, her dead daughters. She knew the feeling of loss and the hollowness it left -- she knew it too well, in fact. Yet she could not or would not extrapolate her own perspective to Tayui's. Doing so would have admitted sin and folly in her rituals, giving them an altogether too human quality. There was a difference between deaths given to gods, and deaths given for no other reason than death's unavoidability. For Eris, there could be no accident and no mistake -- everything was for a reason, and she acted only as instinct and the spirits guided her.

Weak? I am a queen, she said, perplexed to the point of halting her pacing entirely. She spread her hands upward, grinning a vicious thing that was half-snarl as much as it was pleased smile. All of this is mine, and my subjects will tear you and yours apart, she promised, again pacing to the woman's far side, inching closer. Weak, she again repeated, shaking her head and fluffing the shaggy mane atop her head with it, laughing as though the pale wolf joked. For Eris, she truly had -- the dark-hued woman was at the epitome of her power, and this time, it was true, very much unlike the false and empty promises of Eterne.

Come, she taunted, wriggling her fingers in the customary gesture. I don't think you have it in you to kill for vengeance.
No longer a member and with no reason to hold her tongue, Tayui knew she would say all she needed to say. It was no longer a matter of whether she should or ought to. Now, she simply would. Tayui had given up the folly and the pretension of destiny and the notion that things would be a certain way for inexplicable reasons. She had existed for so long simply as a luperci and as herself that denying this would be like denying her most base instinct: to be free. She wanted nothing more than to throw away the bonds that tied her to this mortal earth, but she also knew that she was not ready for a world of only soul and spirit. She had much more to do and she wasn't going to spend her days pining for something more when she had what she needed right now right here.

Eris questioned Tayui's logic and asserted that she was a Queen. Tayui tried not to crack a smile at this, but wasn't sure if Eris would notice.

"We did not come to seek death and I'm not here for your head, either," she replied. Eris taunted her with the wiggle of a finger, so Tayui circled 'round the other, watching her cautiously. "Your destiny is not to be great, but to be nothing. You fall from grace and you will lose yourself in chaos. Eris, mistress of chaos, will be returned to her birthright. I will not kill for vengeance, but I will ruin you because it is for you to become nothing." For someone who believed in prophecy, Tayui hoped that her own wishes would come true. She wanted nothing more than to see Eris burn and fall.

Tayui quickened her pace and darted around the other wolf, watching for her reaction. She was not quite ready to attack yet. She lowered herself and darted to one side, waiting to calculate the odds of Eris reacting
Eris is by Libri!

Words, words, and more words -- the coal-furred hybrid grew tired of so many words. She was not a creature averse to speech, and she could certainly hold her own in the realms of a verbal argument, but just now, she wanted blood -- trespasser's blood, betrayer's blood, the blood coursing in the pale woman before her. Tayui had worn the title of Family before, but these days were long past, and Salsola would not stand for such an affront as this.

It was madness, anyway -- all that Tayui said rang hollowly and Eris would have been confused by the snow-furred canine's proclamations, were she paying any mind to her voice. She was not a pachyderm, and criticism such as the pale woman spoke against Eris then would stung the onxy coyote's pride to the point of anger, were she not already wroth.

Instead, the dark coyote hunkered lower, bright yellow-green eyes watching the turncoat's shoulders, her legs, her feet. Eris watched her pace and waited for the attack, if it would come. Her patience was not infinite, and if the yellow-streaked woman did not make her move soon, the dark Auxiliary would make hers.

The woman moved faster, then, and Eris tensed, sure the attack would come. The shadow-colored canine moved with her opponent, turning to keep Tayui within her sights. When the woman dashed, Eris jerked forward and sliced downward with her claws, extending her dominant right hand downward toward the other woman and aiming to rake her side.
She spoke, but her words had no effect. It was as if Eris was so dead that nothing mattered to her anymore. It only served to enrage Tayui even further knowing that she could not understand Eris when that was the only thing she needed to do to completely destroy her. Eris and Haku had murdered Noir and felt nothing about it. Tayui wanted to find some sort of emotion in the horrible woman’s body and destroy it, but there was nothing. Tayui could not figure out why, when she had felt so dead inside, could not find something that made Eris tick. Tayui now knew that she hated Eris with every fibre of her being and wanted her dead, dead, dead. She wanted her children to die and her womb to shrivel up and bear only mutated, grotesque monsters.

So propelled by this anger, Tayui now felt like she could indeed fight. Eris’ taunts were useless because it was the wolf herself, not her words that would fuel the fire. When Tayui moved forward and feinted, Eris swiped at her with her claws. Since there was no attack concealed Tayui's movement, Eris' actions met empty air. In the absence of her body, Tayui twisted and then moved to attack Eris' legs. Even though she probably could have pushed herself back up onto her hind legs, Tayui didn't like fighting with only two legs when she was in her four-legged form. So she darted around as quickly as possible, hoping that Eris wouldn't be able to see her until it was too late. She bared her fangs and opened her mouth wide with the intention of biting down and shaking Eris' one leg.
If Tayui goes to push Eris over, feel free to powerplay her falling in your next post? :3

Eris is by Kiri, a gift from Sylvey!

The night-black hybrid's face bespoke anger, and nothing of it was calculated or planned. Eris was generally a creature of careful planning and careful self-control, but she was far from perfect, and every wolfish instinct and cultivated Salsolian social constraint screamed against this trespasser. She did not belong here, and it was Eris's duty to drive her from the territory, regardless of her skill in fighting. The dark-hued canine operated by preying on the weaknesses of others, and it was rare she was placed in a situation where she was reliant entirely on her own physical prowess.

Where there had been a snow-pale figure a moment before, there was only empty air, and the woman's claws slashed through the space where Tayui had stood. The woman moved faster than Eris could turn in her four-legged form, and the coyote was aware of a sharp pain in her leg where Tayui bit. The white wolf's jaws clutched just above the hybrid's bent knee, fangs sinking in deeper as she shook her head back and forth. Eris's cry of pain was half-growl, and she swung the arm closest to the pale woman, less aiming and more seeking to scratch whatever hold her fingers might find. She fought for balance with the tug and pull of Tayui's jaws, struggling to retain her balance.

Ok! I'll do that.
Success was all she tasted as she bit in to Eris' leg. She managed to grab hold and shake viciously. If she could inch her way up a bit higher, she remembered that there was something in the leg that hurt a lot when struck. Still, she didn't want to loose her hold as it was likely very tentative. After only a few short miliseconds, Eris responded by raking down with her claws. Tayui felt them dig in to the fur on the top of her head and she reacted exactly as Eris had: instinctively.

As Eris tried to escape the pain of Tayui's bite, Tayui kicked with her hind legs and threw herself onto Eris. Tayui's intention was to push Eris onto her back and dig in to her bared stomach like a delicious gourmet buffet. Although she was mostly trying to push Eris down to make her stop swiping at her head, Tayui also want to bring Eris down to a lower level where it would be more advantageous to Tayui.
Eris is by Nat!

The dark woman felt her balance wobble, hitch, and finally give way, like some ruinous human structure's collapse. She was falling, sharp pain in her leg and the sudden thrust forward from the pale wolf sending her careening backwards. Eris knew she would not be able to save her stance, and went with the fall, hoping there were no roots or rocks on which to strike her head. Even as she fell, she tried to turn, both attempting to wrench herself free of the pale woman's grip and roll away.

Nothing was ad rem save the present moment. There was no time to think or lament her lack of skill in fighting. Perhaps what she lacked in skill, she made up for in rage and indignation -- she defended her claim as her ancestors had for many thousands of years. This was a sorry substitute for skill, however, and the dark-furred woman could only blindly grope for whatever it was she was supposed to do in this situation.

There was cold where her body touched the snow, but it had served to pad her fall some, and the hybrid felt only the sudden jar of stopping as she landed on the ground. She was thrashing and flailing the arm closest to Tayui still, throwing her weight in attempt to roll and stand again. She had to stand -- height was her advantage in this form, though she thought perhaps she might have fared better in halfling form. There weren't even seconds to spare on regret for her choice of body, however.
Tayui felt Eris fall as she pushed and the two came tumbling down. As they fell, Eris twisted her body in a manner that forced Tayui to let go with her jaws. No matter how strong her grip was, she was no hyena and she didn't want to lose her teeth. Instinctively, she leaned forward to grab back on to Eris with her claws, knowing that if Eris was able to separate them, she would be able to gain some distance and right herself.

Although Tayui tried her best to grab a hold of the other canine, Eris was whipping her arms around like a crazed witch. So far, the fight had not been a bandy of attack and defense, but rather a one-sided fight where Tayui had gained the upper hand, but was quickly losing it to Eris. Tayui was annoyed that Eris, who appeared to be barely skilled in fighting, was about to slip away. While she didn't want to be hurt, she still wanted to do something to get to the other wolf.

In an attempt to push through, Tayui tried to bite one of the arms and grab a hold of Eris, but with all the movement, she just wanted to keep Eris from getting up again. With every attempt she made, she felt Eris' claws rake across her body: sometimes she caught a tuft of fur, other times a bit of her ear, and also just as frequently, a chunk of skin on her head or her neck. She could feel blood seeping from her head wounds and matting her fur. Pain blossomed in her neck and head, but she didn't want to stop -- not yet.
Flailing was the approximation of what Eris had seen in previous fights, slave fights put together for the enjoyment of the Eternian high class or petty brawls in the streets of the sprawling city of ruins. She could estimate what she was supposed to do, but as far as executing it, she was useless. It was for this reason whatever blows she caught on the woman's head and neck were superficial, or so they seemed.

Though she had pulled herself up to something of a standing position -- albeit four-legged standing, on both hands and hind-paws -- Tayui's jaws bit down on her arm, and the dark hybrid let loose a noise that was half-growl, half-shriek with the accompanying stab of pain. She had yet to inflict any serious damage herself, and yet she had been bitten twice. The hurt in her leg was replaced by this new spike of pain, but the dark woman thought they'd both be there, strong and aching, come tomorrow -- if she lived to see tomorrow, that was.

The coyote swiveled her head and snapped at the other woman's neck and shoulder with her own teeth while shoving her weight forwards into the arm where the white wolf was latched, aiming to shove Tayui off balance and seek her own jawhold. If she must be bitten, she'd bandy a bite back.

Feel free to powerplay Eris doing some more damage to Tayui. :] After this, I figure Tayui could try to draw Eris away toward the waters' edge and Eris can deal the final blow and Tayui drift off?

Eris’ previous blows were steadily taking their toll on Tayui. Even though Tayui was able to push Eris back and make it more difficult for her to stand up, Eris’ sudden jerk made it incredibly painful. This forced Tayui to release her hold on Eris’ arm only second after she was able to latch on. Tayui feared that if she did not, Eris would simply rip her teeth right out. Tayui knew that she was not flexuous enough to keep her bite steady on Eris’ arm while being flung across the snow.

When Tayui let go of Eris, the other wolf immediately bit down on her neck. It was now Tayui’s turn to screech in pain. It all happened so quickly that Tayui felt herself being pushed back, completely in a daze, as Eris finally gained the upper hand. In an effort not to fall into a total disadvantage, Tayui tried to push herself backwards and put some distance between them. It didn't work as planned. Tayui felt Eris' jaws close around her neck and in a frenzy, she thrashed in an attempt to push herself away.
Eris is by Kiri, a gift from Sylvey!

The blood was an alembic to her anger, serving to both intensify her desire to triumph as well as draw off some of that sheer madness that had overtaken her at first. Eris was a creature of calculation, first and foremost, and though she'd lost herself a moment, her sense of self was steadily returning, and she was cognizant of the struggle here: life or death. Their lack of skill with this bloodsport did not make it any less dangerous, and however clumsily they danced the wild motions of blood dancing, it was no less perilous.

The dark-furred hybrid, however, felt her advantage building as the other woman's teeth left her, her own singing into the thick fur and flesh of her neck. Eris found her hold loose and her jaws soon left their hold with the pale woman's thrashing. She pushed forward again, snapping at the woman's legs and crawling forward on all fours still, though she reached forward now and again to swipe with a large hand-paw, sharp claws raking the other canine where she could.

Eris could not tell if she was gaining or losing ground anymore, and that brief semblance of sanity began to ebb again as the scent of blood drove fear into her alongside outrage and plain old rage. A burst of growling erupted from her smoke-furred muzzle, and her eyes were narrowed slits of blazing chartreuse.
Even though Tayui had let go of Eris, the other canine - for some reason - did not stand up. Tayui had been expecting her to do so, so she had pushed forward with the intention of grabbing hold of her leg as she tried to stand. She wanted to rip out every tendon in Eris' leg and make it impossible for her to even comprehend begging for mercy. But instead, Eris pushed forward on all fours, surprising Tayui. More still, Eris swiped at Tayui with her clawed hand. Since Tayui was now very close to Eris, Eris was able to easily wound Tayui. She felt the claws swipe a long gash across her neck.

Without waiting to again be struck, Tayui dashed forward in an attempt to completely mow Eris over. At the last second, she lost her footing and even though they had to be only inches apart, it sent Tayui stumbling to one side. Tayui teetered and tried to regain her balance, but the blood loss and the fatigue was making her incredibly dizzy. Instead of running toward Eris, Tayui started to back away and let out a bark, hoping to gain some time and draw Eris away so she could double back and attack her. Although she would have liked to launch into another cant and draw Eris' attention away from her movements and to her words, she was too tired to even speak.
Just wanted to note re: second paragraph, planned thread ending satisfies this. XD Didn't want you to think Eris was going to go all Tayui!hunter after this. >_> I get paranoid like that, harp d'darp.

Eris is by me!

Even through the pain, the sable-hued woman pushed forward as her snow opponent did the same, favoring the injured leg but not tempering her charge. The dark woman snapped with her jaws, but where she expected Tayui, the woman was not there. She'd stumbled and slid, and Eris sailed to her side, whirling as quickly as her injuries allowed to face the other woman. The shadow-furred coyote stepped after her, lowering herself as close to the ground as her Optime form allowed. There was no thought to her, and whatever notions she'd previously held of standing and fighting were long gone.

The pale woman before her had been liege to Salsola, member of her pack, under her protection -- and now Eris wished for nothing short of the other woman's death. Even if Tayui escaped here today, Salsola would hunt her until her death paid for her disloyalty. The dark-hued woman knew this was still a possibility, for even as she stepped after the woman, her leg ached fiercely, red-hot spikes of pain drawing up and down her thigh.

The gurgle and rush of water somewhere behind Tayui did not give Eris pause as she dashed forward once more, stumbling herself as her leg failed mid-stride. The dark hybrid was fortunate enough to catch herself and save her charge, continuing to rush the former Salsolian with teeth bared.
