After his various escapades and their disastrous results, Skoll had grown more content with remaining within the pack boundaries and simply listening to the tales of adventurers from the mouth of any patient pack adult. Though definitely a child of action, a youth always scrambling to and fro, the sun prince was also easily enraptured by simple stories. He loved stories almost as much as he loved acting them, and he had been absolutely delighted when the cowboy at the festival had traded him two books for only a promise!

The only problem, however, is that the blonde puppy had trouble finding someone who would sit down with him long enough to read the books. The members of the Court were often busy with the winter months, many of them still recovering from the trauma of the war, so he’d only been able to get snatches of pages at a time before they had to go.

Even now, the puppy ran with the worn book in his mouth, his pale paws slapping carelessly on the ground, kicking up snow wherever he went. He’d just gotten to the part where Baloo and Bagheera had spoken for the man-cub Mowgli, and he was dying to know what would happen next. The only problem was that there was no one around at the time to read for him, and he didn’t know how to read for himself. He’d flop the book on the ground and move the pages with a paw or his nose, staring at the pictures, but the meaning of the little symbols lined neatly across the pages escaped him.

It bothered the boy that he could not read just as much as it bothered him he could not yet shift. But, whereas trying really really hard wouldn’t help him change shape—as he’d been reminded—he did wonder if reading would be easier. Running onto the porch of the hotel, he plopped the book down on the wood, nosed it open gently, and with his paws tucked under his white chest scanned the pages again to try to decipher their meaning.

No worries, I thought it was a great post <3 WC: 565

The patchwork girl had been sleeping in the hotel for the last two nights, the little house that she had been sharing with her parents and siblings had been getting steadily more and more cramped and now that she, Linden and Fee were a year old there was less space than there had ever been. That was only made worse by the fact that Linden seemed to have inherited their father's size, he was growing into a very large wolf indeed, Robin herself was not far behind him, she seemed to be slowing down though, standing at six feet and six inches tall in her Optime form, far taller than her mother, but still much shorter than her ochre pelted father. But when all three of them tried to sleep on the floor of the main room of the house there was simply just not enough space, so Robin had decided to take a few days in the hotel, so far she was rather pleased, she seemed to be managing well so far, she was coping with living alone, even if she was finding it a little lonely. She had found herself a nice room with a comfortable bed, all in all her little venture to live alone was going well so far. She was rather pleased with herself if she did say so herself, she knew that she was doing really well. She could not help but be rather proud of herself, she had been walking around with a skip in her step for the last day or so. She smiled as she looked around her room, her bow rested on one shelf, along with her arrows, all in all in the room was comfortable and warm, far warmer than the outside world with its scattering of snow. The young female could not help but feel a small pang of loneliness though as she looked out of the window at the snow covered land beyond the hotel. She decided that the best thing to do would be to go downstairs and look for someone to talk to.

So the lithe yearling jumped from the bed, landing neatly on all four paws, she pushed the door open with her snout and walked down the corridor. Soon enough she reached the top of the stairs and bounded down them, taking them two and a time, her paws bouncing from step to step lightly, her tail wagging furiously behind her as she went. She was excited, she might find someone to show her new room off to! To show them how well she was doing! Soon enough she was on the ground floor of the hotel, she padded across this quickly, her tail still wagging a she bounded along, and she pushed open the door onto the porch. She grinned to herself as the door swung open and let out a little cry of delight as she saw the small form of Skoll stood on the porch, his nose in a book. It seemed that it was going to be easier than she had thought to find a friend! She padded up to him, a wide grin on her lips.
“Hi Skoll! What're you reading?” She asked cheerily, genuinely happy to see her young friend again, even if he did remind her of the crippling embarrassment of her foolish actions when it came to his older brother.

I'm braindead and sick, haha.

It was not very long before his “reading” was interrupted. Gingery ears twitched at the telltale creak of the hotel door swinging open, even before a happy noise announced the wolf that had joined him on the porch. He looked up and wagged his tail to greet the red-breasted girl, though her question made the dance of the gold plume halt. A somewhat sheepish look crossed his young features before he nosed the book shut.

“It’s The Jungle Book,” Skoll mumbled, patting the torn cover. Though that was indeed the title of the book, it wasn’t quite the correct answer to her question. The real answer was one that he felt foolish to admit even at his young age.

“I’m not really reading,” the sun prince continued, glancing down at his pale paws. “I dunno how. I’m tryin’ though. There’s lotsa lotsa letters.”

He blinked then, cocking his head at an exaggerated angle then rising up onto all fours. He barked once, excitedly. “Robin! Robin, can you read? Can ya teach me?”
