the sound of letting go

Tayui's washing up on the shore of Whisper Beach. She's got a number of wounds and is frozen like an icicle! The top of her head has a number of gashes and her right ear is mangled. Her neck also has some wounds and she's missing clumps of fur all over her body.
Tayui was distinctly aware that she was floating. Every so often, the clouds would tug her one way and then decide they preferred to take her another. This floating sensation was far from ad rem. Every so often, she’d feel a sharp piercing pain somewhere on her body, but the clouds were quick to soothe and dull this pain. The clouds embraced her in their frozen grip and Tayui could feel herself falling deeper and deeper into the sky. She wondered if the next step would simply be cold darkness and death. She had only met ghosts who had returned from their death, but she’d never asked them how they made it back. She had always thought they wouldn’t be able to give her a response, whether it be because they weren’t allowed or because they couldn’t remember. Tayui swore she would remember these memories because when she died, she wanted to remember how it all happened.

The clouds shifted and Tayui realized that she was no longer floating. She felt the clouds give way to something gritty and hard. Tayui tried to move and return to her clouds, but they just pushed her farther and farther away. She struggled against them, but now each movement brought new pain. Her head throbbed and ached and other parts of her body hurt, too. Everything sounded loud and close, as if things were constantly pushing and crashing around her. This was wrong. Tayui knew that clouds could not make such sounds unless she was in a thunderstorm. Silently, she began to whine. With each whine, her shivering grew fiercer and she felt the thunderclaps take over.
Relaxation. It was something that Jazper had thought impossible for a leader of a young pack and yet he was managing to find time to himself fairly often now. The members were all very independent but also knew how to get things done and support each other. It was reassuring to the Sole that he could take a couple of hours of his day simply walk along the shore without a care in the world. The water at this time of year was freezing so he dare not go to close to the tide and the waves that crashed towards the shore. It would only take a couple of minutes in the ice water to freeze. In the winter it was best to collect water and bring it into the Courthouse to warm up for washing, or travel to the hot springs, which were in the middle of Casa’s territory.

There was a soft layer of snow that crunched under his large feet every step he took. In the moment he was glad he had thought of wearing his bear fur cloak, as the wind coming off of the bay was quite chilly. His ears flicked at the sound of the waves movement followed by the crash as they hit ground, rock or more water. Golden eyes scanned the shoreline lazily and did a double take at a strange lump further north. Most likely it was just an odd collection of snow, but his trained eyes could not ignore the yellowish tint mixed into the soft white. Curious the Sole made his way slowly closer, eyes shifting from the lump to the water unaware of what he was about to find.

Drawing closer his heart began to pound and his eyes squinted. ‘A wolf?’ he thought with a panic, feet quickly picking up speed as he neared the body. The white lady was in lupus form but from the yellow streak down her back had the warrior at her side in a second. “Tayui?!” He questioned, unsure of the wolf’s identity himself. Cupping her head in a giant hand he checked for the scar he was sure to find across her right eye. Sure enough this was the snowy alphess who had taken him into her pack when he was just a youngling.

She was badly injured, this he knew well enough but the Sole did not know much about medicine and had no supplies on him. Acting quickly he picked her up gently, moving away from the tides and pulling his cloak off awkwardly in one hand. Tayui was not a small lady but in her lupus form he was able to slip the cloak onto the ground, kicking it with his feet to spread it like a blanket. Finally he placed her down, wrapping her before lifting the loner again off the ground with his strong arms. Pulling her in close to his chest he hoped that the warmth would help. Strong legs began to jog in the direction where he knew he oculd find Regner, he would be able to help him far better than himself. “Hold on Tayui. Just keep breathing.” He pleaded, his feet moving as fast as his mass would allow.
Tayui felt the vibrations of thunder before she heard it speak. She felt herself move and sway and the suddenness of the entire ordeal made her wail in pain. Her voice was mostly gone, so she didn't know if she actually made a sound, but she knew she was trying. With her mouth opening and closing slowly in an attempt to shout out, some fur made its way into her mouth. This confused her because she didn't understand why this would be the case. She tried to move, but the simple act of turning her head sent her moaning again in pain. Even the slightest movement made her incredibly dizzy. After a few more minutes, she heard the fur say something -- her name, she realized -- and she tried to be more still to hear better. It didn't help because she couldn't hear anything else. It was as though all of her senses were jammed and nothing was working again.

She opened her mouth again, trying not to bite down on the fur. She realized now, with slow and lazy contemplation, that someone was carrying her. This realization was only momentary because she quickly descended back into pain and groaning. Although she knew that someone was carrying her, she just wanted to run and get out even though she could not move at all. But in the end, she realized she would have to remain pococurante* to these temptations because movement would only injure her further.
