Saul Chibi is by Requiem!

His mind was, for once, at peace. He'd found Lilin yesterday, thoughtful by the lake. It had taken a bit of effort to extract what was bothering her and he was a little shocked at her admission. Her thoughts dwelled on his comment about Temeraire and Saul had been surprise to hear the jealousy in his belle's voice. He'd explained to her, very clearly, that Temeraire had been a mistake, that Imari had met him at a low point and plied him with alcohol. He had barely been conscious when they'd consummated their little meeting and she'd been gone the morning after. Saul hadn't had reason to think of her until nearly three months later, when she found him and handed him the little ball of black that was his son. That was the extent of his feelings for Imari, resentment that she'd seduced him. Temeraire was the unfortunate victim and Saul loved his son greatly despite his unconventional conception.

They'd managed to work it out and Saul had attempted to get her to promise not to close up on him again. He couldn't possibly know what she was thinking if she didn't tell him and guessing when she was upset was difficult. He'd woken this morning with a grin on his face however, a bouyancy in his step that was refreshing. Since their trip northward, they'd gained two more mouths to feed and Saul had relished the chance to feed his expanding family. The local deer population was suffering though and it wouldn't be long before they had to move. It was his destination this evening however, towards their grazing grounds to see if there was anything up for grabs. The sun was low in the sky and Saul ran with it to his back- the dazzling light would be to his advantage when it came down to it.

On my phone, and HTML is too much of a bitch to deal with ATM.

Ezra had remained quiet since coming to this area of the world. He had given his friends plenty of space so that by could all settle in and he did the same. He kept a close watch on Saul; not that he didn't trust him, he just wanted to make sure the newly appointed leader could handle taking care of so many creatures. They all depended on him and Ezra was hard wired to do everything he could to make sure it stayed that way.

With Elias off somewhere with his dark playmate, Ezra took to the forest. He had always loved the complete silence that came with giant trees. They were all so large and constantly reminded the hybrid of his place in the world. Now, however, he had no intention of being cynical. His gray friends scent was fresh, it wafted by him, memories trailing off the end of it. The secui kept a brisk pace, intending to follow up on his personal vow of keeping Saul his main priority after his son. The other man was alone, which struck Ezra as odd. Saul always seemed to be surrounded by company. But it seemed with their children becoming best friends rather quickly, they both had more time on their hands.

Ezra knew where he was going... His belly growled at the thought of fresh food. He galloped to keep up with his friend, and soon enough, the multi-colored boy was spotted. Hunting was nearly impossible alone and with so many other wolves dependent on them, a large kill would need to happen ion order for everyone to be content. The deer grounds were still far enough away that a bark would not betray their location. He still let it out quietly, just for Saul to see that he was behind him. The hulking beast was quickly closing the gap between them, his curled tail high on his back.

The quick jog to his steps was a classic pose to a hunting wolf, the silent glance of his paws on the ground, the pull of the deer scent dictating where he placed said paws. It was a mindless task- once one understood the mechanics of how to hunt and the various forms of hunting, it was easy to simply slip into a hunting mode and allow his instincts to take over his logical thought. He didn't have to think about anything while he was moving, and this was one of the many reasons for his morning run. A reprieve from the usually overwhelming thoughts that plagued the male. He had begun to notice his errors, the way he shut the rest of the world off when he turned in on himself. He needed to learn to balance this, to think but to listen at the same time. He did however, hear the rustle on the ground behind him, the thud of paws and he slowed subtly. The quiet bark revealed his follower to be Ezra and he turned, a warm and inviting smile on his face.

He didn't need to speak to the male to allow his happiness to be shown and he reached over to touch his nose to the slightly bulkier males shoulder in greeting. Their body language was enough to tell each other that they were hunting and Saul remained silent. He was glad for the older males presence- he often thought of Ezra as the unmoveable force of their group. He was there, usually silent and watchful in the background, unable to be shifted by anything. With a smile, he moved back again, green eyes intent on the prey in front of them. He spotted a doe near the back of the group, favouring her left front leg. It wasn't enough to call her 'weak' but it was a hinderance they could use. He nodded softly, green eyes flickering from Ezra's dual-toned to the deer, indicating their prey if the canine was game.

Hunting was second on Ezra's list of favorite things to do to take ones mind off of something- it was second only to long sprints that tired him so much that he was physically incapable of thinking of aforementioned evil things. Ezra's mind was clear today, however, and was glad for the invitation by his friend to partake in one of the most ancient rituals on this planet, the dance between predator and prey. The husky followed his friends eyes to his desired target. The doe was rather large and would be a difficult task, but with Ezra's brute strength and Saul's quickness the two could very well take it down. He lowered his body to the ground, almost cat-like, silently placing his paws to give him sure footing. Ezra motioned for Saul to take the lead, but he would never be far behind. Stalking was not his strongest skill, but when it came to launching himself onto the animal to take it down, thats where he succeeded.

His friends eyes followed his own, the silent acknowledgement and acceptance of their prey. He could see that the doe was large, but the slightest limp was enough of a margin for error and Saul knew that it would take more than a fawn to feed the Clan properly. Ezra appeared to agree, because he silently slunk to his belly, the typical stance for those waiting in ambush. It meant that Saul would take the lead. He was fine with this role and moved away, footsteps now slow and deliberate. It wouldn't do for him to ghost through the herd, he was going to have to make his decision and commit to it. He nodded once to Ezra, the softest of smiles on his face as he moved forward. His ears warred between laying flat against his head and standing erect, listening for anything that might give him away. The snap of a branch could be his undoing and he was very careful to place his paws on the ground so that they didn't.

He moved, closer and closer, nose twitching softly this way and that to detect any changes to the animals. Of course, there would be no fun in simply creeping and killing and the softest rustle of the bush beside him was enough to send the scouts of the deer pricked their heads up and spotted him. He paused for a fraction of a second before launching himself forward, green eyes focused on the doe who was still at the back of the group. Certain in the knowledge that Ezra was close behind him, Saul weaved through the panicking deer, determination on his face and mouth hanging open in anticipation of the jugular that would soon be in his mouth.

Sorry for the wait <3

The silent hunters had been spotted. Shit, the husky thought angrily, catapulting himself after his friend a little sooner than expected. Of course, the deer freaked out and all started running in many different directions. But they were both skilled at taking down prey and Ezra knew this still had the potential to be successful. Ezra galloped as quickly as he could to the deer’s side, his pumping secui muscles bringing him closer to the prey than Saul. He snarled, and jumped to get a taste of the deer’s sweet, sweet flesh. He missed, and fell back to Saul, still galloping, his eyes frozen on their prey. He swung to the right side of the deer again, hoping that if the two of them together stuck they would be more successful. He motioned to his friend, trying his best to silently explain his plan to him as they ran.

one more from each of us and we can finish up!

Saul Chibi is by Requiem!

The sound of Ezra charging through the forest behind him was a comforting sound and Saul trained his head forward. It was often a distraction hunting with another, but he knew Ezra well enough to understand that they both hunted for the same reason- to feed their family. It wasn't as though Ezra was shadowing him, trying to steal the kill away from him and he squashed the instinct to defend his prize. He was here to help and Saul forced himself to see it as such. It took the larger secui just a few short moments to race up beside him, the two of them gunning hard on the sides of the doe who appeared to be completely panicking. This was good, panic led to mistakes and mistakes led to full bellies. It was Ezra who lunged first, crashing into the doe but not getting a grip on the hide that was more than likely sweating by now.

It did, however, throw the doe completely off course and she veered in front of him. It was his perfect chance and he lunged without hesitation. As she turned to cut across him, she bared her throat to him and he did not stop to think. He moved, haunches bunching and releasing as he sprung forward, mouth opening and accurate as he clashed with the does muscled neck, teeth sinking through flesh like butter. They came crashing to the floor, the doe still struggling to escape and hold on to her life. It would be a few short moments before his iron grip on her neck caused her to suffocate and then they would be able to take the doe home with them.

As embarrassed as the hybrid was that his teeth did not make contact with the prize, he didn't let that bother him. Instead, Ezra only focused more on the task in front of him, as he was determined to not let the doe slip away from them. Panting heavily now, Ezra backed up his friend as Saul made contact with the does precious little neck. She had panicked when Ezra lunged and became an easy target for the tawny male. Saul collided with the animal and shorty after Ezra was there to help bring her down. The wolf bit deep into her back, blood coursing through his mouth which dripped off of his teeth and maw. After both males took their turn biting and ripping to make sure she was dead, the hybrid gave his friend a grin. The primalness of hunting made the man almost drunk with glee. Their whole family would eat well tonight. "Well done," Ezra said to Saul quietly. The lifeless doe in front of them bled silently as he took a hunk of her meat and ate it in a single gulp- he hadn't quite realized just how hungry he was until then... He hoped his companion wouldn't mind him taking a taste of their prize before it was given to the rest of their family to devour.

Saul Chibi is by Requiem!

Blood overwhelmed his mouth and he swallowed reflexively on the hot iron liquid. The muscle between his teeth was a soothing feeling and he was happy in the knowledge that he would soon be feeding his family. Green eyes focused slightly as Ezra's large form came crashing down on the doe's back. The added weight pinned the doe to the ground and it took less that thirty seconds for the struggling to stop. Digging his paws into the ground, Saul tugged hard, feeling the doe's throat give way. Green eyes connected with dark brown and he took note of the glazed look into those depths. The animal was definitely dead. Unlocking his jaw, Saul stepped forward once more, cinnamon eyes flickering forward as Ezra praised him. He looked up and grinned at his friend, returning the sentiment with a soft nod of his head. He ducked his head once as Ezra took a chunk of meat before the two of them moved to get the deer back to camp.

Grasping hold of the animals neck once more, Saul began to move, feeling the doe drag before Ezra moved to help with the rear end of the deer. It took them only a few moments to get the deer through the forest and out into camp. Temeraire and Elias came bounding out from wherever they'd been playing, yipping and snapping playfully at one another before they began to eat. Saul was pleased enough to stand back for the moment and allow his family to eat, despite the blood taunting him on his muzzle. It had been a good hunt and he sent one final grin towards Ezra before jumping back in, grasping bits of the animals shoulder and neck.
