OOC here!

Excitedly Adelle packed up her weapons. There wasn't much to it, Grandpa's battle axe that she had managed to "borrow", her metal gloves, the leather bracers that she wore to keep her limbs from being hurt, and a staff that she'd been using as a practice sword. This was going to be her first time showing Skoll what she had learned in optime form. The battle positions from secui and lupine had been happily shared, the pups tumbling about as they played. This time though, she would be meeting him on two legs.

Feeling a little nervous about it Adelle made sure her necklace was secure. She wrapped one hand around the rose pendant, letting it nestle in her thick fur. Adelle wasn't beautiful by any means, her body more muscular and thick with fur than one with the traditional curves and slim appearance. Adelle luckily didn't care about that kind of thing, as she spent the majority of her time working to become a better warrior. Slipping on her bracers Adelle picked up her items and grabbed Buckeye from the stables. A horse she'd been learning to ride. Happily she clucked at it, and Buckeye obediently carried her past the borders, rapidly approaching where they were to meet.

Arriving Adelle slid off his back. She patted the horse gently before tying him to a tree. An apple was retrieved to be fed to him from one of the numerous ones around Casa. Finding a nice clear area Adelle wandered through it, checking to make sure it would work as a makeshift sparring ring. Satisfied that it would Adelle placed her bundle down. Humming she waited for Skoll to arrive, eager to show off.

Awkwardface! +543

Skoll grinned broadly as the wind whipped through his messy blonde mane, his tongue lolling from his jaws as the mare galloped underneath him. His hands remained tight around the reins, his torso pressed low, but he might have been standing on her back and whooping for how excited he felt. His mount’s hooves ate up the distance to the chosen meeting point, sending up dust as they pounded into the salty grass of the coast, although they were only going at a strong canter. He didn’t feel comfortable enough with a full-out gallop yet, for once taking something in his life slowly and carefully, but the bond between horse and rider was growing more each day they went out.

There was a destination in mind this time, however, and rather than let her run wildly in whatever directions he chose, he guided her toward the chosen patch of land between Cour des Miracles and Casa di Cavalieri. When they were close, he slowed her down bit by bit, until they walked with the horse breathing deep underneath him. He remained excited, though, his tail wagging even as he carried himself with upright, princely posture. He looked like a young knight riding out on his palfrey than the boisterous child he still was, moving along on the mare he considered sidekick more than steed.

The little lessons with the other young wolfdog had helped Skoll socially more than anything else. There had been some exchange of information, mostly in the way they felt the other’s four-legged bodies react while trying to mimic the moves, but he looked at Adelle as a friend to visit rather than a real sparring partner or teacher. They’d still been children, but now he felt more like a grownup, especially at his respectable height on Hwin’s back. He patted her neck as they came closer, and she snorted as she smelled another horse, shying momentarily before he whispered comforting words to her.

Stepping down from the sidle, the squire led Hwin on foot the rest of the way. When they came into the cleared space, he spied the other horse—a light bay stallion—and patted Hwin on the nose gently. He removed her bridle and hobbled her so she could graze but not wander too far, going through the motions clumsily but successfully. As she offered the stallion a shy greeting, standing a good distance away, he turned his head to find the girl in the center of the miniature arena.

Brows lifted over curious green eyes, and Skoll approached her. It was the first time he’d seen her on two legs, and she looked suddenly older than him, more formidable. It was a bit overwhelming, and he tried not to stare too much as he greeted her. “Good to see you.” He rubbed the back of his neck, feeling naked compared to the protective leather she wore. He didn’t have any weapons or armor, and he’d been expecting another bout of play-fighting—hand-to-hand and useful if polished, but more of a way to pass time rather than the serious training he hadn’t thought much of.

Feeling like a child, the young teen smiled awkwardly. “Where the heck do we start?” he asked with a clumsy laugh.

OOC here!

The sound of hoof beats caught Adelle's attention. Turning around she smiled as she waited with excitement. Was that Skoll? Did he have a horse too? Well, it wasn't really her horse. Just one that she'd borrowed, finding walking on two legs far too slow. He entered the area, and Adelle couldn't help but stare. She'd never seen him like this before. Long tangled blond hair in contrast to her cropped black bunch that fell around her face. She'd cut it short on purpose, but seeing him like that made her feel almost inadequate in appearance.

She was taller than him, surprisingly. Adelle hadn't noticed it before, but there was a growing distance between their height that made her nervous. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do with someone who was smaller than her. She'd always been the smaller one, and was just now catching up with the rest of the pack. Nice to see you. Her english had improved a fair amount since the last time she'd seen him, which meant she was actually able to talk to him. She smiled at his laughter, glancing down at what she'd brought. Swords? She picked up the staff, looking to see if he'd agree.

I think when they're both grown he'll be like, a single inch taller than her. xDD And man, he's not being cocky for once.

Skoll did his best to take in all he could of her changed appearance, since it was so new and surprising, but with her blue eyes on him, it was hard to be discreet. Eventually, he just looked—at her solid build, the short dark hair framing her face, her exceptional height. He was surprised to see that she was slightly bigger, but considering the height of some of his family members and pack mates, he wasn’t too bothered by the fact. But she did look strong and maybe even grown-up, though there was something about her that didn’t quite match up with what an adult woman might look like.

He was glad for the distraction as she grabbed a wooden staff. “Uh, yeah,” he said, and grinned slightly as he imagined wielding one. Haven had a longsword, although he didn’t know the pumpkin knight well and hadn’t talked to him about it. The knights in the fairytales all had swords with great names, too.

Then the smile faded. “But I don’t have one,” he added.

OOC adelle's grandpa is 8'3" shell be 8'1" if i can get permission for that

The staring was pretty hard to deal with. Adelle found herself feeling incredibly self conscious about her appearance, despite the fact that before now Adelle had given no more thought to her body than one did to breathing. She was very aware that she didn't look like the other females in the pack. Her chest for one was too flat. She wasn't the only one with short hair thankfully, but Adelle's cut somehow felt different from the spiky hair style now that she thought about it.

Shyly she looked over Skoll, noting that his body was fairly strong and wiry. It looked like he'd thicken out, if not as much as her. Her body was built wide, not a pretty feature for a female. On a male, it gave them a strong look. On a female like her, she just looked thick. Realizing that she had only brought her own stuff Adelle looked around until she found a nice long stick. Passing the staff to Skoll Adelle picked up the stick. Do now.

Oh, derp. I was just going off what's in her profile. xDD Skoll will be 13 inches shorter then. :| Will be fun. x3

When she looked around on the ground, Skoll took the chance to admire the fall of her spiky hair across the side of her face. A lopsided grin sprang to his lips when she grabbed the stick, and he realized how much of a moron he’d been. Of course weapons could always be improvised; he didn’t need a sword or even a nice wooden staff like hers. Still, he was surprised when she chose to give him her own weapon, and he took it gingerly, running a fingerpad over the smooth wood.

“Awesome,” the golden-haired boy declared, testing the balance of the thing. He guessed that a real sword would be made to fit in a paw better, but this was all right. He gave a practice swing and grinned at the sound of the thing whistling through the air. “Okay, lemme see what you can do,” he said, taking a step back and twirling the staff idly in one hand. He gestured for her to go ahead and demonstrate, knowing that he’d fail if they just started swinging at each other with blunt objects.

She giggled a little at the look on his face. It was nice. Very nice. How come she hadn't noticed his smile before? Probably because she'd never been looking so closely at him before. Having him in optime was a completely new experience. Everything between the pair seemed changed, from how they spoke to how they saw what they were going to do. She waited to see if he'd approve of the staff. It was made for canines much bigger than the two of them. Adelle would fit it when she was older, but it was a little unwieldy at the moment.

Asked to demonstrate Adelle took a deep breath. She glanced over at Skoll once more, taking in hiis form before she blinked, coming back down to reality. She swung the stick once, getting used to the weight before stepping forwards. She did a simple enough maneuver, swinging the stick to catch, thrusting forwards at a strike. Defend like this! She lifted her stick, holding it to ward off any imaginary blows before pushing forwards. She looked over to Skoll, hoping her demonstration hadn't been too clumsy.

Adorable awkwardsauce.

The other teen’s giggle made his smile grow a little more slanted and awkward, but his curled tail wagged behind him. It felt good to make her laugh; he wanted to laugh too, but he was sure it’d sound a bit funny. While prone to fits of giddiness just like any other child, this was altogether more awkward. He scratched at his ear and pushed his mane out of his face in a characteristic gesture as he looked at the staff again.

It took a moment for Adelle to demonstrate as he requested, but she soon started to bring the stick down in a wild sweep. After swinging, she thrust forward, and then held it up in a defensive position.

When her eyes fell on him, he swallowed and moved the staff carefully, trying to get used to the balance. Finally, he delivered a ferocious, two-handed vertical slash downward before swinging in a diagonal arc; power was behind his movements more than grace.

Wanna go at it? Skoll asked at last, managing to find his normal grin this time. His tone grew teasing. Promise I won’t hit you too hard.

Skoll's strikes were every bit as powerful as Adelle's. Both were built for brute strength, taking full advantage of it as they moved. Her tail wagged softly behind her, admiring the movement. He seemed so strong right then. As strong as the warriors in her pack. Shaking her head to push that aside Adelle nodded. She was ready for the fight. It would be fun! Like the other times they had play fought together. Adelle had always enjoyed herself. Somewhere in the back of her mind Adelle heard a whisper telling her something was different, but the pup decided to ignore that. They were in optime. Surely things hadn't changed that much just because of a shape change.

Adelle found herself giggling again at his words, a little confused to why she was finding it so funny. It wasn't a humorous comment. If you can even land a blow. She smiled over at him, short curls framing her face. She straightened up, moving so that she felt prepared for an attack, hands gripping the stick. Eagerly she swung it around, moving forwards to lunge at Skoll. Her strike was powerful, promising to be jarring when it struck. Her focus managed to return a little, thinking about the fight and not Skoll.

She teased him back, and his face flushed. He made a point to shoot her a look for that, one that quickly grew cocky as he brandished his make-believe sword. Adelle was only a silly girl, after all, even if she was a very strong one, more interesting than his sister and the other little females of his pack. He thought darkly of Kace, who’d left again after he’d brought her into her home, then shook his head and lifted the staff as she came forward.

She lashed out with the stick, and with a loud yelp, he brought the staff up to intercept. The blow jolted the staff and rang through his arms, and he bared his teeth as he drew the sword away, leaping backwards before he came forward with a stab at her belly.

He looked over at her cockily. True, he was male, and built more for strength than she was. That didn't mean Adelle was going to let herself go down easily. Her muscles tensed, knowing that Skoll wouldn't be the only one catching the backlash from the strike. It would vibrate up her arms as well. Practice had lent her aid with holding on and not dropping the weapon when it decided to strike back against her like that. Skoll prepared, lifting the staff up to meet her clumsy power strike.

Skoll yelped, surprising Adelle. Most of the time those she sparred with were fairly silent in their actions. Surprised her grip loosened a little. The stick jarred in her hand, shaking a little. Adelle quickly tried to regain herself, tightening her grip against the rough bark. Her hands were a little scraped, nothing much as she stepped back. Adelle shifted it around in her hands, doing her best to try and readjust. Her grip was completely off now, as shocked as she had been. Adelle barely had time to raise the stick up for his stab, sending it skittering off to glance along her side. Adelle winced a little, striking back while his sword was still out against him, clumsily moving for his chest.

He is ridiculous. +339

A more experienced warrior might have noticed the opponent’s loosened grip and taken advantage of it accordingly, but Skoll only noted that she looked surprised by his movements or something. He might have chalked it off to him pulling off something really cool if he didn’t have the decency to admit he sucked at this. Fighting with weapons had always seemed grand in the tales, from master swordsmen to Mowgli using the Red Flower, but he was more feral than most in his family. He still enjoyed all the luxuries the Court offered, but he had an appreciation for his natural form unlike that of the others. He knew that he had gifts that were his own, like his teeth and endurance, and he’d never needed to hold a sword or a stick until now.

By fluke or fate, the staff glanced off the female’s golden side as she swept it away clumsily. Before he could bring the staff closer to him to parry, she took advantage. His free hand shot out then to protect his chest, but he was too slow to actually catch the stick like he wanted, not that he’d be able to pull off the same trick with a real sword. The weapon smacked against his wrist, and he jumped backwards.

“Ouch!” Skoll barked again, and he shuffled away clumsily, moving in a half-circle around the girl with his sword out threateningly. He tried to look for weak points, but he got distracted and lingered—on her muscles, on her fur, on her dark hair framing her blue eyes. But then he shook his head and growled, looking more proper werewolf than a squire with a practice sword.

He dashed toward her with a howl, and swung his sword quickly, putting what strength he dared behind it so it wouldn’t break or break anything on her. His aim was blind, his balance completely destroyed in that moment, but he wanted to land at least a glancing blow or even knock the sword from her hands.

OOC they both suck at this XD

His hand tangled up, getting in the way of her strike. It sounded painful, smacking against his wrist. Adelle didn't give him any sympathy though, having hurt herself plenty bad enough with her own training. Punching with metal gloves on only really worked if one knew how to do it. Otherwise the metal ended up hurting her. She watched him warily as he circled around, knowing what he was looking for. Drawing her body up she did her best to look strong, without any holes in her defense.

As he howled Adelle released her own thunderous bark. The sound echoed through the area, almost making it sound like a real battle was happening, instead of a clumsy clash between two youths. She met his sword, twisting it away from his grasp with the loose grip. With that out of the way Adelle pressed in, finding herself so close their faces almost touched. Her thoughts briefly turned to kissing, close enough to reach out, before she shook her head clear of the silly thoughts and stepped forward, turning it into a shoving match with the remaining stick between them.

You can have her knock him down/win/whatever powerplay in the next post. x3

The scene was set: a woman warrior and a sun-colored swashbuckler rushing at each other, their battle cries ringing. In the background, a bay mare lifted her head at the sound, ears swiveling as she watched the children at their playing—but the boy truly felt a solder in this moment. A feral grin showed sharp, un-yellowed fangs until his sword was swept from his grasp.

His teeth gnashed together from the impact as he slammed against the staff, their noses nearly touching. For a second, he tasted her breath, but then he gripped the wood and shoved back against her. She seemed stronger, but he was not about to relinquish his grip—and he counted on still keeping his endurance while she was breathing hard from her efforts. His speed and strength were only average for a male of his age, but it did take Skoll Haskel a long time to tire…

OOC here!

Fangs bared against each other, each one trying to outdo the other. It wasn't much at the moment, simply going back and forth as they pressed against each other. Adelle tried to not give any footing, but so did Skoll. They were trapped, waiting for the other to tire. Adelle didn't have a very high endurance yet, something that was building with time. For now it was brute strength that won her most battles, teeth still being freshly cut in the arena. They both struggled back and forth for some time, Adelle's pants growing heavy.

She lost a step, forced back. Eyes widening as she felt it happen Adelle surged forwards. Adrenaline pumped through, and she pushed through with a strong hit, all her strength combined in the last throw. Skoll was thrown off the stick, pushed back across the ground. Adelle stared at him for a moment before dropping the stick, tail swaying mightily. Had she done it? Had she really done it? Howling Adelle danced around the ring, looking rather silly. I win!

We can wrap up with them rolling around being morons I guess? x3

Skoll thought that he would win, could feel her strength ebbing as his remained constant, but soon even the enduring male tired. He ran doggedly on his last reserves, his teeth exposed in a grimace of effort and exhaustion, the thrill of the fight slowly losing out to a desire to simply finish it. However, his heart leapt into his throat when she was driven back. Something clicked in the girl then, and even as the boy did his best to shove forward one last time, his claws locked around the staff, she heaved forward.

His fingers released the wood with an immediate ache, and he stumbled, falling down on his back with green eyes staring at the victor in bewilderment. She seemed surprised to, albeit for just an instant—because then she howled, celebrating her triumph with a loud boast.

The dominant, competitive side of Skoll Haskel was angry at losing, but she looked so ridiculous dancing around that he burst into laughter. He showed his teeth then, getting up and creeping forward as she celebrated, until at last he barked, “Maybe that round!” and leaped at her. He tried to wrap his arms around part of her to knock her to the ground, half for revenge and half because he kind of wanted to touch her and wrestle. Sharp claws withdrew enough so she wouldn’t be hurt by them, but quickly his plan of attack changed as he tried to tickle her instead.

OOC lol sure

Laughter erupted from her friend, the large pup spinning around. What was so funny? She was the one that had come out on top in that battle! Puffing up she turned around, continuing to strut a little. That was right, she was so awesome that she managed to defeat an older wolf. Again. He really didn't seem able to win against her. For a moment Adelle slowed down, wondering if she should really be happy about that. Granted, she had more training than him, but still.

She yelped with surprise as Skoll came up, knocking her flat to the ground. Immediately the pair went rolling across the ground. She pushed up with her hands, only to find herself being tickled, laughing aloud. Hopelessly Adelle pushed back, not having much effort in it. The afternoon quickly rolled by, the two adolescents goofing off and playing, pretending they weren't as aware of each other as they were.
